The Roosevelt Hotel, New York City - New York

Das Eincheck-Personal war äußerst unhöflich und nicht hilfsbereit. Unser Nichtraucherzimmer war nicht verfügbar, als wir versuchten, um 7 Uhr abends einzuchecken. Das ist inakzeptabel. Unsere Zimmertoilette verstopfte zwei Mal und beim zweiten Mal lief das Wasser über in das Zimmer, und man ließ uns mehrere Stunden in unserem Zimmer, bevor wir in ein […] anderes Zimmer umzogen. Hotel Concierge war unfreundlich und es scheint, dass es ein Ärgernis für ihn war, unsere Fragen zu beantworten. Wir hatten Einwände wegen unserer Rechnung beim Auschecken, obwohl man uns ursprünglich gesagt hatte, dass wir einige Dinge umsonst bekämen, da unsere Toilette zu der Zeit verstopft war. Sehr netter Ort zum Verweilen. Bett war gemütlich, nicht wie das immer gleiche, alte billige Motelbett. Wir hatten ein King Zimmer und hatten viel Platz. Badezimmer war etwas eng, keine Bewegungsfreiheit, aber wir konnten damit umgehen. Ich werde dieses Hotel anderen empfehlen. Das Zimmer, das ich bekam, war sehr klein. Es gibt nicht einmal eine Kaffeemaschine in dem Zimmer, so dass ich danach fragen muss. Der Fön war kaputt. Das Hotel ist so alt, aber die Lage ist gut.

Der Vorteil - nahe Grand Central und Times Square. Abgesehen davon gibt es mehrere bessere Wahlmöglichkeiten. Unser Zimmer mit zwei französischen Betten war sehr klein - kein Platz zum Gehen, unsere Toilettenartikel abzulegen oder Gepäck zu verstauen. In die Lobby des Roosevelt Hotels zu treten, war, wie ins Set eines Films aus dem frühen 19. Jahrhunderts zu kommen. Sein Personal war sehr hilfsbereit und höflich. Das Zimmer war sauber, wenn auch etwas klein. Gute Lage, viele Möglichkeiten, zu essen und einzukaufen in der Nähe.

Dies ist ein großes, altes Hotel mit einer perfekten Lage. Das Zimmer sollte nur ein Doppelbett haben, weil es viel zu klein für zwei solcher Betten war, der Service war gerade mal durchschnittlich, und das Hauptrestaurant ließ zuviel zu wünschen übrig. Dennoch genossen wir unseren Aufenthalt uneingeschränkt. Man geht nicht nach Mid-Town Manhatten, […] um in einem Hotelzimmer herumzusitzen. Dies war ein perfekter Ort, von dem aus man soviel wie möglich in der Stadt sehen konnte. Und wir mussten nicht pleite gehen, um dort zu übernachten. Der Preis, die Lage und die allgemeine Schönheit des Hotels ließen uns über die negativen Attribute leicht hinwegkommen. Mehr

When we checked in, they said our room wasn't ready because a previous guest had smoked in it. They offered us free drinks at the bar while they found another room for us. OKAY! We only waited about an hour and once we got our room, it was perfect. Everyone was very friendly and the accommodations were really nice.

It was my first time at the Roosevelt. My sisters and I had reserved a "cozy double double" and were pleasantly surprized that the room had more than enough room for the four of us. We wish the roof top bar had been opened that Saturday but we knew ahead of time that it wouldn't be so were not surprized.

THe hotel is lovely, but it needs to be updated to accomodate technology, there are not enough plugs in the room, nor are the ones there convenient for plugging in iphones, etc. The shelf in the bath is inadequate for personal items..it is small and right over the toilet..my hairbrush fell in the toilet..yuck...

Good location but rooms are a little dated. Good value though for the location.

Spend a little more and stay at the Waldorf.

Needed a lamp replaced and they responded quickly. Great local. Elevators can be over crowded later in the evening.

We were given a wheelchair-accessible guest room and we did not request for one. Don't understand why they did that to us. It took me the next day to realize that it was a wheelchair-accessible room--had not been in one so I was pretty surprised to see how the bathroom was laid out. Bottom line: not impressed. The lobby is really nice and the location […] is very good...but that's about it. The guest room is not that clean. Mehr

My wife and I took our two teenage daughters to NYC for a long weekend and stayed at the Roosevelt. We loved the location, which is a short walk from Grand Central and a reasonable walk to Times Square and most of mid-town. The hotel was a beautiful old building, which reminded us of the Park Plaza in Boston. The staff was very friendly and helpful […] and the bartenders and waiters in the lounge were excellent; I went down for a quick beer on Saturday to watch the hockey game and the bartender greeted me with a smile and remembered my name and brand when I returned with my wife on Sunday night. The beds were very comfortable, but the reason for the 4 rating overall and for confort was the size of the rooms, which is unavoidable in an older hotel. With 4 of us sharing the room and one tiny bathroom, it was a bit of a squeeze. If it were just my wife and I and there was only one bed in the room, it would have been a 5. For the price, which was very reasonable for Manhattan, we would definitely stay there again. Mehr

Great location, friendly staff, helpful concierge and very clean.Would highly recommend The Roosevelt for your next visit to NYC.

We have stayed in New York before, tried the Roosevelt this time, very pleasantly surprised. Wanderful hotel with great character, helpful staff, and in the center of everything.

Hotel is in a convenient location and the room was adequate, but the water pressure was awful.

Rooms were nice and clean. Lobby was beautiful and we loved the rooftop bar!

Close to Grand Central so convienant for subway for entire NYC. Exceptionally clean and very well maintained. Bedding was very comfortable especially when compared to other hotels in the area. Good lounge and bar in the lobby if stuck on a rainy day. Friendly staff. Only negative was WiFi was not free which is typical of most high end hotels. Work out […] facility was not as clean as one would hope but equipment was up to date and worked well. Discounted rates during the week. Grab this hotel if you get the chance. Mehr

Overall it was good. Bathroom is very small with old fixtures etc. but appeared to be clean. Prefer rooms with a coffee pot which this hotel didn't provide.

Great convenient location walking distance to everything. Only shortcoming was a very small un-renovated bathroom

The hotel was in a fabulous location right down the street from Grand Central - Very convenient for getting around. The Concierge and Bus desk were also very helpful. Amenities and hotel services were expensive, the room was very small (but comfortable), and coffee was not available in the rooms. The hotel decor was "classic 1920's" and provided a nice […] atmosphere. Overall, the hotel was well kept and I would definitely stay again....a good experience. Mehr

Comfortable beds, convenient to subways but very dated hotel in vibe, decor and detail.

The Roosevelt Hotel is excellent - great location and within easy walking distance of all the major sites - Time Sq, Rockefeller, Empire State and isjust around the corner from Central Station. Very helpful staff and super clean. Highly recommended.

Very enjoyable.

We have always enjoyed staying at the Roosevelt.It is near the Grand Central if you are arriving by train.The subway and shuttle are in the Grand Central.Midtown is very busy with shops and restaurants,But the advertised cozy queen was really the cozy closet with the a.c. in a very filthy window.You had to figure out how to rig the curtains to shut […] out the sun and not block the a.c.We have stayed in bigger cozy queens at this hotel.This is the first time we were not happy with a room. we hope it will be the last. the location was just what we were looking for. I truly look forward to coming again real soon.

The hotel is in a very good location with easy access to all the tourist spots. We knew that the hotel had a renovation programme in place, however, on entering our room we were not able to tell if our room was one of the renovated ones or was still awaiting renovation. Rooms- reasonably sized, clean and tidy but there was no attention to details, for […] example lampshade was badly damaged and not replaced, no refridgerator, no light on the desk rendering it too dark to use. The wardrobe was a cupboard and bulit at an awkward angle. Housekeeping did a good job, rooms appeared clean and linen crisp. Bathrooms- there have been many negative comments on the bathrooms in other reviews and we are sorry to say those appear to be true as we experienced the same. It was one of the worse bathrooms we have had for a long long time and definately we have never experienced such poor bathrooms in a 4 star hotel before. They were worse than some we have seen in youth hostels. Concierge- the service was very very bad, bordering on rude and surly at times. Misdirected us to a restaurant they were recommending and even when we asked us for Circle LIne Ferry tour which was in Mid town, the concierge desk pointed us downtown to the ferry in Battery Park....which was only to the Statue of Liberty. Renovation- in our opinion not a true renovation, it appeared to be a new lick of paint and some new furniture, and was not an upgrade to the hotel which was built in the 1920s. Its a shame that hotel management didn't bite the bullet with this renovation and pay up to take the opportunity to upgrade the entire hotel by improving the bathrooms. Even bringing bathrooms up to 1980s standards would have been nice.Front desk and Concierge staff who often provide a guest the first impression of a hotels service, provided extremely poor service with some concierge staff bordering on incompetent. Alot of training would be needed on front desk and concierge staff to bring up these services to 4 star h Mehr
