the best and good walking distance to downtown...loved it

Location was perfect. Two blocks from the Market Square and driving to Riverwalk was easy. The staff was great.

I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. The hotel did not have a fridgerator or microwave. NO FREE WIFI. $10.00 a day for WIFI and parking. Booked a room with 2 double comfort beds only had 1, and it didn't work. For the money I spent we should have had all the things I listed included in the cost of the room. Hope you don't expect any privacy in the restroom […] because the door slides open ande closede but leaves a huge gap around where real door should. Mehr

Had a room with 2 beds, 1 bed was very comfortable, the other mattress was so sunkin in it was very uncomfortable. The hotel did not have any vending machines for snacks nor did they carry any snack in the coffee shop. There was not a convenient store nearby. No free breakfast either, it was $12 a person! The hot tub was no working.

bathroom was in need of repair and hot water. not worth a repeat

I went to SA for a weekend getaway with my family. We enjoyed the hotel. The room we received smelled of smoke and we requested a non smoking room. The gentlemen at the front desk was very helpful and got us another room with no problem. The only problem we found was the A/C unit was very loud when it turned on. I wanted a weekend getaway ( traveled from Houston) and decided to head West. The hotel was very nice and clean. Being that it was downtown I could hit all of the the attractions.

Hotel was nice and I enjoyed staying here. The hotel description said it was .7 miles away from the riverwalk but it was farther than that so we had to take a taxi. I wasn't happy about that bc we wanted to be able to walk. Other than that our stay was nice.

location is west of the highway. walkable for a fit adult who wants excersize, but not for children. The TUSA campus is across the street if you need that. Nice people but service stops at kind words and welcome. no stopper in the tub. Two calls for a replacement resulted in nicely worded promises but no stopper to the room. A ten o'clock ice cream […] from the cafe took about thirty minutes to get to the table. Pool is not heated and the hot tub was broken. no free wifi There is a charge to self park your car in the garage. There is no option as there is no parking anywhere in the area. The downtown location is very noising even on a weeknight. Lots of highway noise, sirens, buses, and big trucks. I have trouble sleeping the last night. On the positive, sleep number beds are nice. The cookies are great. I will look for another place next time Mehr

my ac did not work in my room, I told them the next morning, and it was not fixed....two night in a hot room...not happy nor did they try and make me happy.

We were in San Antonio for my son's graduation in the Airforce. Great location! 5 minutes from downtown San Antonio and 10 minutes from the base. The price was right and no complaints. No Jacuzzi :( though..

They recently changed the street name of this hotel and this made it very difficult to find the first time, great location once you have arrived! Nice place and friendly staff.

As soon as we walked in the room you could smell a strong musky smell. Hotel was 100% booked. So we knew a room change was out of the question. Sleep number bed did not work. Although current setting was ok. Towels were "soft". Pillows were either 1" thick or 12". Basically was to thick or way to thin. I woke up itchy in many places... Bed bugs? […] Or itchy sheets? I looked under sheets at mattress and box spring for bed bugs and did not see any, but I am not inspector. When we arrived, front desk was understaffed. Only one guy was working. And had a huge line. He was as efficient as possible and nice. Although what was management thinking. We arrived at 2:30 for our 3:00 check in time. After we went to our room and returned the line really grew. Poor staff guy. Poor customers. What really ruined it was the musky/moldy smell in room. I have bad allergies and this made them worse. Obviously I'd never stay here again. I was itchy and allergies had kicked in because of moldy room. Mehr

Nice hotel and a great value!

As an Honors member I frequently stay at a Hilton Embassey Suite hotel and this was the first at a Double Tree. THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME. When we checked in, the front desk person was extremely rude in responding to our questions regarding parking & the shuttle service to the football game, the bed was extremely uncomfortable and the same was true […] of the bed in the room we were moved to. When we showered in the 2nd room, the water flooded the bath room. When we complained the manager gave us some free meal & drink tickets and the wait person, an Hispanic gentleman, was extremely courteous, but that did not make up for our overall poor experience. After we left, we discovered we had left a pillow behind & it has taken two calls asking them to mail it to me. I was told they had not mailed it the first time, since they were confused as to where I wanted it sent. Despite having my contact information, no one from the hotel called me on this. As of today, I still have not received the pillow. Mehr

This location was a great central location.

Hotel Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room had "Sleep Number" beds. Rooms were clean. The only "fault" I saw with hotel: The floor numbers in the elevators did not all illuminate. You had to look outside the door of the elevator when it stopped to make sure you "landed" on the correct floor. Overall, a good value!

Everything was clean and location is very convenient from main attractions and historic places except that the room tv didn't work and being in a hotel with kids is a MUST. :( that was down side!!!!

My room was not cleaned properly before my stay we found bottles of pop by the baseboard of our bed. The sheets were stained

Hotel Lobby and Bar were nice. Hot tub was broken. They put us in a room with a king though we booked a double. They acted like we were inconveniencing them when we asked to be put in the correct room. The beds were full sized not queens. They were sleep number beds, but would much prefer queen sized beds over full sized sleep number beds. We paid extra […] person fees so we could sleep with our kids in the room, but only to have full sized beds and nothing extra to accommodate the extra persons. Probably a good hotel for business travelers or couples, but we'll go with a more family friendly hotel next time. Mehr

One of my close girl friends & I went to go see Chicago at Cameo Theater and decided to stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown SA. We were greeted immediately, welcomed, and checked in. We even received a free cookie! It was warm and delicious. The hotel is beautiful. Our rooms were very clean and welcoming. My absolute favorite thing was our […] sleepnumber beds. If you have never slept on a sleepnumber bed, I would recommend booking a room just so you can sleep on one! I adore that bed and did not want to get out of it at all. This is how Hilton is these days? This DoubleTree (by Hilton) was a real disappointment. Reserved a King Bed, got two doubles. The beds are the infernal Sleep Number beds. That's supposed to be a plus, right? Try spending hours finding a comfortable setting between 0 and 100. My back still hurts. Then, I had to fix the bathroom door so that it would […] shut properly (it was a sliding door that nobody had bothered to put back on it's rails). Then, they wanted $10 for internet use. A Hilton hotel! Heck, the Motel 6 has free wi-fi. Then we awoke for a 10 AM shower only to have NO HOT WATER! A Hilton! Of course then they charged us $10 for an extra person. It was only my wife and I. Two people is an EXTRA charge? At a Hilton? Hilton has turned into a bunch of nickel and diming thieves. FYI, the original street name the hotel is located on is DURANGO. It is now called Cesar Chavez Blvd. So if you're trying use your GPS, you might still need to use Durango as your street, not Cesar Chavez. My first night I got awake by the fire fighter that are just next to the hotel. They did not go back to clean my room, I told them & they did go but they did not pick up the trash can nor put the towels in place. Then I had to pay for wifi, $10....not cool.

About a mile away Riverwalk. Customer service was very friendly. Room was very comfortable. If breakfast & parking were included it would be perfect! Would definitely stay again.

Room space is ok, daily parking rate is $10 plus if u want internet connection is another $10. U have to make sure to tell them u don't want newspaper or charge u $0.75 per day. If u like swimming and hot tube, called to make sure they are clean and working (we found cigar bud and trash in the swimming pool) and jacuzzzi was not working. Annoying when […] people use the pool area to smoke and the hotel did not say anything. I have little children who like to breath fresh air,, and swim in clean wate.. Oh,, the water is very cold, they don't have heated water and it is outside. Overall,, it is not close to riverwalk,,, 7 big blocks.. Mehr

Rooms were clean and location close to downtown without downtown traffic.

We had a great time and the Hotel was very clean and the bed was a sleep number bed, it was so comfortable!

Where to begin with d nightmare that us this hotel!! We got two separate room and something was wring with both. In one the bed didn't work, d bathroom had fallen and we asked for a crib since 8 in the morning and we didn't get til midnight. The other one the coffee maker didn't work. They ask you how many people will be staying in each room and yet […] they still only put one towel in each room!! Well with all of these things we still went down to Ty to talk to someone to fix d bed, give us towels and the service was horrible. One of the ladies at first just wrote things down the guy later on didn't even do that and he just kept saying uhu, uhu, uhu. When we finally got towels they smelled burned! The crib was used there were toys and someone else's blanket on there at first I thought oh cute they give u toys and a blanket but d blanket had throw up on it!! This hotel was disgusting!! To top it off we went down stairs to try to enjoy the pool and there were girls around 15 yrs of age asking me and my husband to buy them beer. I will never recommend this hotel ever!! Mehr

The staff was very nice. The first problem was that we had read that it was 500 yards from the River Walk and it wasn't. That kind of set the tone for the entire trip. The second problem was with the A.C. We had 2 nights with the A.C. not working. We thought it was repaired after the 1st night and it wasn't. The last problem was the shuttle. Since the […] hotel was no where near the River Walk, we planned around the shuttle which a sign was posted stating that s shuttle left every hour on the hour. We waited on the shuttle for almost 45 minutes. The last night we were there, the shuttle driver called in, so there was no shuttle. Again, the staff was nice and tried to help with the various situations. The whole point to the trip was staying on or very near the River Walk. Mehr

Pretty,Affordable, Location good. Got a free cookie at check-in = AWESOME!! Room and sheets clean! The bathtub could have been cleanier. **Receptionist needs work. I asked the receptionist for more towels for the pool. Never got them... so I had to go to my room all wet and get towels from my room.*** Oh yah another downer there is a $10 parking fee […] (There is no other place to park so you kinda have to pay it , boo ). But overall it was a good stay, oh and there pillows uhhhh to die for! lol You could sink in them :) Will use hotel again! Mehr

By no fault of Hotels.com but San Antonio renamed Durango St. and didn't tell any of the GPS map providers. We drove circles for at least an hour before we realized that Durango St. is now Cesar E. Chavez Dr. The DoubleTree only has one small sign identifying itself from the university building across the street. The hotel was nice but lacked amenities […] found at hotels that cost half as much. Mehr

The only problem I had was that they charged me 10 bucks to park even though I was staying there. They also did not have a free breakfast. They have a little restaurant. The staff was really nice.

I had never stayed one of your Hotels. And I'm very impressed and satysfied overall .
