Prytania Park Hotel - New Orleans

Very nice hotel in the Garden District: - clean rooms - very friendly staff - very close to streetcars (1 min walking) and French Quarters (5 min by streetcar / 20 minutes walking) - free parking I would stay there again, can't imagine a place worth more for my money.

Very quiet and close to Vodoo BBQ, the best BBQ in New Orleans :D. Perfect if you want to experience things less mainstream, like hanging out with friendly locals in the nearby Lucky Bar. If you need party, the historic street car stops 30m from the hotel and brings you directly to Burbon Street.

Sehr gutes Frühstücksbuffet (für amerikanische Verhältnisse) French Quarter gut erreichbar aber nur mit dem Auto oder Taxi.

Good for the money.

Best bang for your buck if you're looking for something away from the French Quarter. I've stayed here twice now and it's just a short cab ride to the Quarter and walking distance to the river front or Canal street. Lofts are great if you have multiple people staying in the hotel. Don't have high expectations for service from the front desk; this isn't […] a 4 or 5 star hotel. While they are polite; I wouldn't expect a whole lot. There are a few good restaurants close by; "Slice" and Commander's Palace" were both great places to eat. Mehr

My room was clean and affordable. It's a no frills hotel, and that was fine with me. I spend the night here before catching an early flight. The bed was old, but the towels, sheets, and bathroom were clean.

Small but nice hotel. Rooms are small but always clean. Very quite hotel and great location. Like being able to park in their parking lot in front of hotel plus they have security. Staff is always pleasant. Have being staying there for 15 years.

The hotel is quaint and clean, but breakfast is better taken at the prytania oaks around the corner. Otherwise you're eating in the coart yard of the Prytania Park in possible rain.

At first my husband and I were concerned about what we were getting ourselves into because when we pulled up to the hotel we both thought it looked a little sketchy. We all fell in love with the courtyard, the old style feel of the doors and windows and the spiral staircase in the room. We preferred the location away from the Fench Quarter due to having […] an 8 year old with us. When we wanted to go to the Quarter, we easily hopped the street car that was a block away. Staying here was a great experience for our family. It was quiet at night and the beds were so very comfortable. We loved this hotel and would recommend it to all. Mehr

This was our second time to stay the the Prytania Park Hotel. You cannot beat the location as well as free parking. It is located a block away from the St. Charles Street Car that takes you directly downtown. Plenty of restaurants and things to see nearby. Hotel staff has always been accomodating to our needs and this is definitely one of the best kept […] secrets of New Orleans. My family and I will continue to stay here for my more trips to come. We enjoyed our stay at the Prytania Park Hotel. Had a great stay and would stay again.

We stay here for the Rock and Roll Marathon and loved it. There were about 20 in our group, and no one had anything bad to say. There were a variety of eating place within the block, easy to walk to. We went to a place called Slices (pizza) and brought it back to the courtyard area and sat around eating and hanging out. Also, the start of the marathon […] was about a mile away. Had a geat time. We stayed here for the Rock n Roll Marathon. We fell in love with the charm of this hotel and the surrounding area. It is close enough to walk to French Quarter, but you might want to cab back. I find the hotel to be like most things in New Orleans, old and in need of some TLC. I was there for a show at the convention center and all the hotels by the center were $50 / night more. It was a $7 taxi ride, but I walked it 2 out the 3 days and found myself wishing I could walk to work on a daily basis. That 20 minute walk was the highlight of mornings. […] The morning breakfast was basic, but all I needed. There are two great places to eat about a block away on St. Charles (Zea's & Mia's), both of which I highly recommend. If Mia's was in Chattanooga, I would eat there on a weekly basis. If you want to take a streetcar ride, it is just a block away and $1.25 to downtown. My biggest complaint about the place was the small showers and super cheap plastic shower heads, which made me miss my shower at home. I thought the service was very good. I would probably stay there again, but I might still check out a couple other places in that same area (garden district). With the help of a good handyman, the place could really be a very unique place. Overall I give it a 3.95 out of 5. Mehr

lots of noise as I was right on prytania. Nice hotel otherwise.

What a great hotel. It had a reasonable price. I was there for 2012 Comic Con Convention and I was extremely pleased with this hotel. The bed was so comfortable. It was only 1 block away from the trolley, so we were able to go to and from the French Quarter for just $3 all day pass. The room I had was not a suite but it had two queen beds with a spiral […] staircase that went up into a loft to the 2nd queen bed. Too cool. I would definately recommend this hotel and I will probably stay here everytime I go to New Orleans from now on. Mehr

Room was not ready when we checked in...other than that very nice.

Not quite as close to Tulane as I had wanted--try the Best Western St. Charles Inn for closer. But cute place--lovely courtyard protected from the street and free secure parking (hard to find in NOLA). Very reasonable price and everything you need in the room, plus free WiFi. nice neighborhood, within walking distance of a variety of bars and restaurants on St. Charles Ave. Is pretty far from the French Quarter, however. I would go back unless I wanted to be in the middle of all the action around Bourbon St

.....and won't be the last. It is so charming and clean. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Saint Charles streetcar is so convenient to take and not have to drive everywhere. We will be going back.

Hotel was just fine. Meet our basic needs but microwave didn't work and not able to have hot cereal for breakfast. Also our room was on Prytania St and this was a very busy street. They should have ear plugs in the rooms.

Actually a very nice hotel-near the trolley, many good restaurants within walking distance, quiet area. Enjoyed stay!

We stayed here for 3 nights. The streetcar is just around the corner but it was so busy that the just passed us so we had to walk to the French district most of the time (30 minutes). The staff is very nice and the rooms are good and clean. But the queen rooms are on the ground floor and because the hotel is a combination of three buildings close toggether, […] these roms are very dark. Another thing that can be improved is breakfast being served ourside with no decend table to sit on. Either you talk it to your room and come back if you want more coffee or you take the sereals on your lap. Next time i would recommend a hotel in the French district for a little bit more money. The building itself is nice enough and it was fairly convenient being right between the Quarter and Garden District. The bed was comfortable. Parking was ample. However, there were some things that really should be improved: 1) We arrived early and our room wasn't ready, which is fine. We gave the front desk our cell phone and asked that they call […] us when our room was ready, which they never did. Finally, we came back around 5pm. Our room had apparently been ready for awhile, but nobody had bothered to call. The woman at the front desk was not at all apologetic. 2) There was no shampoo in the room. 3) The toilet clogged as soon as we got there. The front desk brought me a plunger and I got to unclog it myself. 4) Our room was never cleaned while we were there, despite a "Please Service Room" tag being on the door most of the day. 5) The continental breakfast was pretty lame. I've seen better spreads at Days Inn. Any one of these things would've been fine, but the combination was disappointing. Mehr

Good value but rooms are on small side, lack a table to write or eat on. Rooms facing Prytania subject to street noise (vehicles). Heat in our room failed and manager quickly changed us to an available room but this was inconvenient of course. Free continental breakfast was predictable and adequate. Very close to some excellent restaurants on St. Charles […] where the street cars also runs. Mehr

This is an old Garden District hotel. It is convenient and clean. It has free parking. Its location is great with many bars and restaurants within a walking distance. The hotel itself is below average. This hotel has been the worst hotel of the 25-30 last hotels I’ve stayed for the last couple of years. I had a 1st floor room. It was very small and […] extremely nosy. The tub/toilet area was the smallest I have ever seen. The breakfast was rather shack then a continental one. They watch you in case you take the second yogurt and in very rude manner could explain you that it is not allowed. No sits - you have to take all they allow into you room I would recommend avoiding this hotel. It is extremely easy to find better hotels in New Orleans. Mehr

I was very dissatisfied because I supposedly booked a loft room with 2 double beds, but what I got when I arrived was a room with 2 twin size beds. This was very deceiving since I was told something to the contrary.

Not a luxury hotel, but the only place I stay now when I am visiting New Orleans due to the Garden District location, the free parking and the authentic New Orleans charm of the facility and the staff.

This motel is a very good choice especially if you have a car. The free parking is convenient and the trolley cars run a block away. The rooms are nice but a bit small. There are neighborhood restaurants around the corner.

This is a nice minimalist hotel. The rooms are small, but for a one night stay in New Orleans, it will do the trick. The rooms are comfortable. Not sure about the loft concept? I laughed when I read the reviews about the breakfast being small, but it really is minimal. The staff was friendly and helpful. This is a great deal. Just off the Charles street trolley line makes easy access to New Orleans. Fair price, great 2 level suites, perfect for kids to give them and you a little extra space. Enclosed courtyard is a nice place to rest and gather. Great place to stay before a cruise.

Great hotel great location great staff good price. The only thing not great was continental breakfast. It was a bit on cheap side.

I've stayed at the Prytania three times so far, all with wonderful results. The staff was so helpful and fast on check-in/out. The breakfast is decent with croissants, pastries, coffee, juice and yogurt. The rooms have nice high ceilings and are furnished nicely. It has a boutique hotel feel because of the courtyard layout. FREE parking and FREE WiFi […] are a huge bonus and a benefit of staying only one mile (25 minute walk - short streetcar ride) from the French Quarter. The neighborhood has improved greatly in the 3 years that i've been staying at the Prytania; St. Charles St. is now offering nicer resteraunts and atmosphere; it feels "up and coming". Mehr

Very accommodating staff. They were able to help me out with some confusion I created by my reserving rooms for two different nights under two different names. They fixed it all up so I could stay in the same room the whole time and even changed my credit card charges for me. The hotel is located in the Garden District a block away from St. Charles, so the street car line and taxis on the street were readily available. The room was clean and the hotel staff was very nice. My only complaint was that the mini-fridge in the room was so cold that it froze some leftovers and sodas. My Fiance and I were traveling from Texas to Florida and decided to spend a couple of days in NOLA, we booked this room based solely on the Hotels.com listing and could not have been happier upon arrival. We booked the Queen loft room just because it looked so lovely in the pictures, well, it was lovelier in person, in fact, it was AMAZING. From the […] moment we pulled into the lot until we had to check out we were pleased as could be. The front desk staff were the friendliest people EVER, ready with an answer to every question we had, with a smile tossed in even. The walk to our room was stunning, the funky, chunky layout of the walkways/corridors, with the Bamboo and the skylights, the stairways all over the place. It felt cozy even in the corridor. Nice solid wood doors, creaked when we opened it. breathtaking room upon opening the door. wonderful bathroom, plenty of room for all out clutter. Shower head was great, room for both of us in the shower together. nice towels, not skimpy tiny ones, full sized towels that will actually dry you. Toiletries were nice too. Both my Fiance and I had gotten sick along our way from Texas to NOLA so we had to spend one of our few days there in bed, we were happy to miss out on a day of sightseeing because the room just felt that homey and comfy. Plenty of channels on the TV, good WI-FI coverage, plenty of speed. The location is great, plenty to do within walking distance and for the further journeys, is only half a block from the St. Charles street car. We could have spent a week without going further than 5 blocks in any direction and not have had to eat at the same place twice. a nice Laundry two blocks away. nice Garden District park 2 blocks in another direction. Just so much right there that you really would not need to go anywhere if you didn't want to. to sum up: Stay here, stay often, get the Queen loft room, it is WELL worth the price. Hotel is quaint and unique. Great location with easy cab ride to anywhere in city. Room was clean but not overly spacious. Will get the job done for a weekend stay.

The room was tiny - even with only a queen sized bed it felt cramped. The tub/toilet area so small I could not make myself close the door - especially since the exhaust fan did not work. Also the ceiling fan shook & made such a racket I had to shut it off in the middle of the night to sleep. Hotel was advised of the problems with exhaust fan & ceiling […] fan - response? Oh yeah - we know those things aren't working right. Did not attempt to fix these problems at all. Although the location was excellent we will not be staying at this hotel again. Mehr
