HOTEL BEACON - New York

Ich war im Dezember 2011 dort; die Zimmerpreise sind zwar - wie zur Weihnachtszeit in New York üblich - sehr hoch, aber das Hotel ist absolut traumhaft. Die Umgebung bietet schon einiges und man ist in ein paar Minuten mit der Ubahn am Times Square.

Das Hotel Beacon besticht durch seine Lage auf der Upperwestside. Cafebar direkt neben dem Hotel, daneben Starbucks, gegenüber ein gigantischer Supermarkt, die Metro 2 Min zu Fuß, mit der Expressline in 7 Min am Time Square, Centralpark in 2 Min, was will man mehr. Die Suite war so wie abgebildet. Leider ist das Klappsofa sehr unbequem,und das Bad sehr […] klein. Wir würden jederzeit wieder ins Beacon ziehen. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und können es nur weiter empfehlen. Mehr

Das Hotel liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Central Park, zur wichtigsten Subwaylinie und inder Nähe von guten Restaurants. bei einem nächsten NY Aufenthalt werde ich wieder dieses Hotel wählen.

Das Hotel Beacon ist sehr gut und zentral gelegen (Nähe U-Bahn, Central Park, Columbus Ave), die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und sehr schön eingerichtet, kein Strassenlärm. Das Preis - Leistungsverhätlnis ist sehr gut. Leider kein Frühstück und kein Parkservice.

When I come to New York to attend the opera at the Met, I usually stay at the Beacon. I'm always happy with the accommodations and feel very comfortable there. It's so convenient to the subway and restaurants we like. I always feel at home.

Room was clean and comfortable. Free Internet a plus. Bathroom a bit on the small side. Price was right. Would stay there again

Nice, clean room in a great neighborhood. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, public transportation, and Central Park. Concierge service and doorman. Small but complete kitchen area. Would highly recommend.

The hotel was a good choice (although a bit too expensive) for its great location, good service, nice rooms which even had a small kitchenette, which was very practical. On the opposite side there's a good grocery, subway station is very close and the hotel neighbourhood cosy and has lots of cafes and restaurants. We decided to stay here because my friend, in her late 70's, had just had hip surgery and needed a room with wheelchair access and a kitchen. The hotel recommended we take a suite on the fourth floor with a walk in shower. I was concerned it would be loud because we were right above the street and there was a concert at the Beacon Theater. The hotel […] assured me the windows were sound proof. They were right on all accounts. Weak from traveling my friend wasn't able to leave the hotel for two days. Instead, all of her friends came to visit her. We were able to cook healthy meals and the room was quiet and restorative. On the third day we wheeled her into beautiful central park. The hotel staff graciously let us extend our stay and found a way to keep us in the same room. Our stay was exceptional because the hotel helped us find the right room for our needs! Mehr

My husband and I (from Jersey) decided to brave it and take our 3 young kids (all under 6) to the city for the night. This is our first time at the Beacon Hotel. The staff was very helpful, the room was clean and very quiet and our experience was GREAT!

The hotel is within easy walking distance to Central Park, restaurants and taverns, with helpful, friendly staff, and clean accommodations .

My husband and I had a recent 4 night stay. We loved the room, the bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept in. Having a living room with kitchenette was so convenient and really added to the experience. We loved the location, it was quiet but had many restaurants and shops nearby including the Fairway Grocery. I often stay at the Beacxon and like its great position on the Upper West Side, about 7 mins walk from Central Park. Opposite is Fairways, an unblievably well-stocked food shop and there are two subway stations within 5' walk. The Beacon doesn't attract many typical businessmen probably becasue it does not have a bar or restaurant. Most guests are on […] holiday or a visit whicjh lends the place a rather happy atrmosphere. There is a diner next door which is fine for breakfast or typical NY food, and many good restaurants nearby. The hotel has good free wireless LAN. The rooms are comfortable with tea and coffeee making equipment as well as a kitchen with stove and microwave (but no oven) and a fridge. You can ask for any pots or pans beyond the basic equipment in the cupboards. Iron and ironing board. Sufficient hanging space for a longer stay as well as drawers. No hook by the door for a wet coat. DVD player and good TV. There is a laundry (coin-operated) on the 7th floor. Some rooms don't have a desk but all have a large table. As of March 2012 no bedbugs in my room which apparently is not so self-evident in NY! Staff helpful with tips about where to eat and so on. Check-out until 1pm with no hassle. Mehr

we have stayed here a few times, we love the neighborhood and convenience of having kitchenette in every room. The fairway market across the st, wine /spirits 2 doors down. many great restaurants nearby. we dont even bother checking other hotels anymore, we prefer to stay at the Beacon!

This is the second time I have stayed at the Beacon and been extremely pleased. On the location: safe, accessible from West Side Hwy, close to Lincoln Center, subway and good food -- with a supermarket across the street. A wonderful walk brings you to Central Park or Broadway district, and taxis are readily available. My boyfriend and I stayed there for new years eve. I was so happy that not like all the other hotels who raised there prices just because of the date this hotel gave a reasonable price for the location and date of the year. The only thing I didn't like was the parking but I'm from out of town and not the city so it is something to get use to but I found a place with a reasonable all day price for parking. Had a great experience at the Hotel Beacon. Service was excellent. Provided us with early check in on the day with no problems. room was great. We mainly walked into tourist centre, about half an hour walk. But there is a metro a couple of minutes walk that takes you right into times square. If you're an uptown girl or guy, Hotel Beacon will suit you well. The neighborhood is active but not chaotic. Central Park is close. So is Barney's Coop, the Museum of Natural History, the Met. And the subway. The rooms are quiet, which is huge in Manhattan. We had a queen suite with a kitchenette, which was comfortable and convenient. So glad that we found this hotel... it's perfect in location, in set up with kitchenette. Love that it's close to the metro station and has Fairway across the street. We stayed in Beacon Hotel for 10 days from december 5th to december 15th. The room was big and clean, with an useful kitchenett fully equipped. A payment laundry is available at the 7th floor. Hotel Beacon is certainly not new or modern. But if you need a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable room you will not be disappointed!! We arrived WAY before regular check in, they offered us the option of waiting for our (booked) king bed room, or if we were willing to opt for a queen we could check in immediately. The bed was so comfy, as good or better than those hotels that advertise them!! Rooms are not oversized but quite adequate. Wifi is not free but starbucks is a few steps outside the front door and theirs is free! The cafe next door has the most amazing food at reasonable prices. A great place to stay within walking distance to Lincoln Center, and to museums on the West Side. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable, and clean.

We hadn't stayed here since they did considerable renovation. It has been improved quite a lot. Brand new bathrooms, new beds, still with kitchenettes. We like this location very much--close to Central Park, Lincoln Center, museums. Staff very friendly.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It's reasonable, clean, and friendly. Although it does not have its own restaurant, there is a very good, convenient restaurant just next door. It's within walking distance of Central Park, Lincoln Center, the Natural History Museum and many other sites. Many small restaurants dot the area, as well as any […] other store you can imagine. This was our 5th trip to NYC in the past 15 years. Have previously stayed at Waldorf-Astoria, Marriott Marquis, Marriott East Side, JW Marriott (near Central Park). While the Beacon is not as upscale as any of these, it also is not as expensive and is fully adequate. We like the location better than any of the above in that you are in less intense tourist […] traffic, shopping is convenient, there are many, many small restaurants within easy walking, The streets seem safe and transportation is very convenient. If going to either the Metropolitan Opera or the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the location is excellent. 20 minute walk to the opera. Easy walk to a cross-town bus on 79th street for the museum. huge two-room suite for the price of an average New York closet sized room.

Beacon was recommended by a cousin and it proved to be the perfect place for us to end and start our great trip to NYC. The neighborhood is so very nice, clean and has two wonderful grocery stores right across the street. Our room was so comfy, clean and quiet - and the bath shower was a wonder to of power for tired muscles. My daughter and I stayed here for 8 nights recently and really enjoyed this hotel. The staff are very friendly, the location was great - really close to the subway (we each purchased a weekly pass), a Starbuck's on the corner and the great supermarket Fairway right across the street - what more could you want? Our room was lovely, we had the 2 room […] suite and it was great to spread out in, and the kitchen was really useful. We bought things for breakfast and the occasional supper after returning from shows at night at Fairway - so convenient. We used the subway to and from Broadway shows and certainly felt safe walking around the area by the hotel at night, also after the "crush" of Times square it was lovely to return to the much calmer area of the hotel. We had a big room (for NYC) with kitchen. There is a gourmet take-out shop across the street. Lincoln Center is a 15 min. walk.

Roomy by NYC standards. Frig and kitchen allowed us to eat breakfast in the room and save some. The room was not luxurious, but nice and clean. There were a few items that needed repair, but they were minor. Towels and amenities were good. Location was good if you want to be close to the park and AMNH. Checking in was a breeze....Service was pleasent. However, when we reached our room #1711 we walked in to find that we where given a corner room with the air conditioning unit as our view. We called downstairs in a rush to request a more comfortable room. We where told we would be called back and that never happened. Great hotel - well appointed rooms im a good location. Really enjoyed our stay. One gripe - charging for wi-fi. These days should be included in the cost of the room.
