I was disappointed in the maintenance of the hotel. The walls and carpets are very tired, stained and peeling. The elevators give a jerky ride, the interiors are very worn and below standard. I realize that the hotel was full to capacity, and the number of guests may have made it difficult for the staff to keep up, and may have contributed to the poor […] overall level of cleanliness and upkeep. The great location was the main reason for booking the hotel, and the restaurant offered both good service and good food.This hotel used to be the shining star of the west-end, but unfortunately it has lost it's sparkle. We always try to stay at the Mayfield. The only drawback to booking with Hotels.com is that you cannot select which tower you prefer to stay in.

When we checked in the process went well, we dropped off our luggage and went to the mall. Upon our arrival the room had a foul and mysterious odor, almost sewer like. It was very late and we had to pack up our belongings and switch rooms. Then as we switched a pub near the hotel was closing, there was swearing, men trying to fight, girls screaming, […] I was with two young terrified teenagers,the apologies were not enough, we should have been given a discount, yuck!! Very nice hotel But you can here all out side and hall way walking noce and tak .

Business suite was perfect for us and the 3 kids. Close to West Ed mall! Staff was awesome. Vic's Steakhouse was delicious although pricey, but worth it.

Hard for guest to find a parking spot

The Mayfield is a fine hotel for a business meeting in the West End. It's part of a larger complex of businesses so has many useful amenities nearby for business travelers, as well as multiple dining options. Staff were polite and professional, food was good (more vegetarian options would be good) and the meeting/conference rooms met our needs. The […] neighborhood is a bit "middle of nowhere" for anything but business travelers, in my opinion, but if you have a car that may change things. I took a taxi there and didn't leave the hotel, because it's where my meetings were. Mehr

We had room 789... and the fan in the air circulating system was too noisy... we had to shut it off . Subsequently by morning the room was a bit stuffy. We have stayed here other times and not had this kind of inconvenience.

Room was booked quickly and easily online. Staff was friendly and accomidating to a late check-in. Free breakfast with stay and room was nice and clean.

Hi - My husband and I stayed there for our anniversary. Our room was fantastic - roomy and comfortable. We took in the "Beatles-Part 1" at the dinner theatre, the show was again fantastic and the food was delicious! My husband was 'overwhelmed' with the dinner theatre. Not a bad place. Was here on business for a trade show. Not well laid out but would not stop me from staying gain if the price was right. About a $75 taxi ride from the airport and $15 from the mall so rent a car if you are going to move around. Restaurant was not bad for the buffet breakfast

We arrived late in the evening. Our hotel rm was ready with some lights on to welcome us.

We found that too much air fresheners/scents were used in the lobby area. Very strong cinnamon smell. Very difficult for guests who are sensitive to fragrances and perfumes. You couldn't escape it anywhere in the lobby. The rooms were OK, though.

The only issue we had was when we were checking in the Manager at the front desk assigned us to a regular room and not what we booked. We lugged our stuff back down and finally we were assigned our room as booked in a Junior Business Suite.

We were a bit disappointed when we checked into our hotel room as it was a very old part of the hotel and it was smelly. So we ue in updated to a suit in the the 2nd tower (for a premiun). The suite was really nice and clean. Will stay there again.

Have stayed at this hotel many times and always have received fantastic service and the front counter help always has time to explain where malls and shopping places are from this location. Will be back soon!

Hotel needs a complete overhaul.Rooms are outdated.

I have stayed at this hotel before but in the Suites Tower. The Suite was beautifully maintaned and very comfortable. However, the room we stayed in this time was in the Mayfield Tower and I wasn't very impressed. It was very dated, with lots of marks and stains on the carpet, hair on the drain plug, very noisy and musty smelling. I am only recommending […] this hotel because of my previous stay in the Suites Tower. Mayfield Tower needs upgrading. The staff was great and the lobby is beautiful. Mehr

The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room could really use new carpet or a very very good cleaning. The bathroom fan didn't work, and the room was stuffy with the A/C running. The hotel restaurant is more than a little over priced...$17.00 for bacon and eggs? really?? If we do stay at the Mayfield again we won't be eating there! It's […] a nice enough hotel, but could use a little TLC in order to keep up with the other hotels in the area. Mehr

The Suites are quite nice. I would avoid the regular rooms. Not nearly as nice. It's worth the extra few dollars to have a room in the Suite tower.

Our stay at the Mayfield was good. The ups of this hotel is the staff went above and beyond to make our stay a good one, the rooms were cleanish and comfortable and we we're given the extra's we needed. The down side was the beds in the old wing where we where, were harder then usual and the cleanness was a little lacking. We had an awesome stay with Mayfield Inn and Suites!!!! Location was great easy access to the Edmonton Mall.. Will definitely reccommend this hotel to all my friends.

Food services a bit pricey for the location and the hallways are in need of some renovations.

We have recently stayed at Mayfield Inn with my family. We booked 2 rooms, the price was excellent. I booked it with Hotels.com and I got a good price the best price ever. We have stayed at other hotels in Edmonton but I find that Mayfield Inn is a relaxed, very quiet and very calming place to stay. I also visited the spa and the customer service is […] awesome. The hotel is under renovation and I hope that it will all be done soon. The rooms are very old but I love the ambiance the quietness and the service. I am very happy with our stay. I must also mention that Vic'e Steak house is very good, we had a very good meal prepared to us and sent to our room. Excellent time in Edmonton at a very low cost. Thanks Hotels.com for the rates. Mayfield Inn and Suites is close to West Ed and downtown Edmonton. Nice location.

We were pleasantly suprised to have booked a room with two double beds, but were upgraded for free to an executive suite - it sure made our stay more comfortable. The beds and bedding are very comfortable and the bathroom is huge and includes a big jetted tub! Room service is fast and the food is good. We were disappointed in the service in the spa […] - waiting half an hour for our appointment and then my daughter's eyebrow waxing was crooked .....but overall we enjoyed our stay and will definately stay there again if we are even in Edmonton again. Quite enjoyed our stay there the pet friendly option was great had a bit of a vintage feel to it. The staff were polite and courteous and I was able to enjoy the hottub as well as the food on the down side food was a bit overpriced overall great exprience

My only complaint was that the room smelled very old/stale.

The hotel was severely lacking customer service, placed us in a room above the bar where music kept us awake all night. Fire Alarm went off and evacuation was not done correctly .. People where left in thier rooms not knowing there was even an evacuation as staff did not go to rooms. Aside from the housekeeping staff who should be the ones running this […] outfit we had a week and a half of disappointing accommodations. This was a National event involving each province and many like ourselves who will never step foot in the motel again. I recommend to find another location. Mehr

My friend, her son and I stayed at the Mayfield Inn and Suites last Friday night. It was terrible from the get go. I had booked 2 rooms under my name. When we checked in late that night we were put at opposite ends of the hotel. The numbers of the rooms made it sound like they were close but in actuality they were not. Did ask to be moved closer and […] they did. The doorknob to the bathroom in my friend's room was just about all the way off. I noticed in my room some plastic off the wall by the door. The carpets were dirty. There was food left out from room service or take out and it wreaked throughout the hallway. We did not feel comfortable at all. None of us would sleep under the covers as we didn't feel the bedding was clean. Both my friend and I felt our skin itching. We pretty much did not sleep all night. For being a hotel that has a Dinner Theatre and Athletic Club I was shocked at how grungy it was. I phoned Hotels.com around 3am telling them how horrible things were. They phoned the night auditor so that I would not be charged for the next night. The person at Hotels.com was very helpful. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. We did find another hotel for the next night and we were much happier. I must say that when I talked to the gal checking us out in the morning she wrote down the concerns that were mentioned and she did try and make it up to us and wanted to upgrade us and we went and looked and it still wasn't great so we opted to go somewhere else. I have slept at a lot of different hotels and hotel chains and sadly this is one hotel that I cannot and would not recommend. Mehr

I have stayed at this hotel a few times since 1995. I have found I do not feel it has kept pace with room improvements and repairs. Our toilet ran on, the fixtures are somewhat outdated and quite worn, automatic 16% gratuity PLUS automatic delivery fee for room service when service is below std is unacceptable. There was no phone book so had to phone […] the front desk for a local restaurant number (was going to eat in Vic's Steakhouse but was told it was full). We stayed two nights (considered leaving) and our room was NOT cleaned on Saturday although we were gone a good part of the day shopping). The older model TV which kept flashing intermittently was hard to watch. It was like watching a DVD player that kept quitting (and no, we did not rent a movie). I have a problem with value for $. We have paid a similar price (just a little more) on a weekend for a jacuzzi suite in a much newer Ramada in two locations on two separate dates. The last straw was coming back from supper and finding the hotel was not able to accommodate parking for all of its guests (if we had not had a handicap tag we would have had to park off the lot where ever a spot could be found). We stay at several hotels and have never encountered this level of service for cost of stay. I would not return to this one which used to be a favourite in years gone by. This likely sounds like an angry unfair assessment. We aren't angry, just feel this was a poor value for what ws received. We previously stayed in the suite tower, what a huge difference in the "older" tower. The one thing I should say is the front desk staff were very nice people.
