Very clean and pretty room, great service

With a tasteful, attractive lobby, and comfortably cozy rooms, the Dahlman could improve itself greatly simply by upgrading the hallways and elevator decor and lighting. The location can't be beat in Madison, with the perfect proximity to the campus and Capitol square, with State St, the lake and the Union literally steps away. Very pleased with our stay here during my daughter's visit to Univ. of Wisc.-Madison. The complimentary "continental" breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage and hash browns; it was nice to have coffee and little cheesecake morsels in the evening. The hotel is beautiful, but when we went to our room I could not believe how small the bathrooms are. We did par take in the free appetizers and the bartender we had really hard a hard time making the drinks we wanted. The free breakfast had a wide variety of items but the hot food was not hot. The location of the hotel was perfect for us for our recent […] visit to Madison. We did forget an item there and it took 3 phone calls for them to locate it , but we did get it back, Thanks you for that. If we visit again I may try to find a different place to stay. Mehr

This hotel is located on the edge of the UofWI campus and has a very small parking facility. There is little parking in the neighborhood. There is a pay lot 1.5 blocks away and the hotel will pick up the cost, but it is not very convenient.

The Campus Inn was a great old style hotel with all the elegance and customer service one can ask for. The staff was very professional and helpful. Great place to stay if you are in the area. Complimentary breakfast was good, coffee,teas, cereal, pastries. For the price it is definitely worth it.

This was a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, accomodating, and wonderful to work with. The atmosphere is warm, beautifully decorated in a luxurious style. Great location to downtown, State street shops & restaurants & campus. This is my go-to place to stay in Madison from now on.

Simply the best hotel we've stayed at so far in our lives!!!

Inadequate parking provided for a hotel of its size. The small parking lot (approximately eight parking spaces) behind the hotel was full. There is also a very small, poorly designed, underground parking area, with numerous large concrete pillars which encroach on the parking spaces. Because of the concrete pillars, nearly half of the spaces are difficult […] to access except for small cars. While there is room for small cars to maneuver into the tight spaces, I drive a full-size SUV which did not fit into any of the small number of open parking spaces. I was told to park overnight in the fire lane at the rear of the hotel, and was given a hotel parking pass to put on the rear-view mirror so my vehicle wouldn't be towed away for being parked in the fire lane. At check-in, there were two desk clerks on duty. While one clerk was trying to assist a guest with checking in, the other clerk carried on a very lengthy discussion with the guest about the correct way to cite a source for her (the clerk's) term paper. Granted, the hotel is located on the UW Madison campus, and I assume the clerk is a student, but customer service should take priority over personal business. We were completely ignored until the discussion was concluded, which we did not appreciate. The room and bathroom were small. It wasn't clear whether the linens and towels were supposed to be ecru in color, or whether they were just a bit dingy. The continental breakfast was served in a small lounge that is crowded and poorly arranged. There was a limited food selection available. The flavor of the orange juice was off, but the coffee was very good. I would NOT recommend this hotel, and will not stay there again. Mehr

One of the main benefits of the Campus Inn is it's location in downtown Madison, just one block off of State St and a 10 minute walk to the Capital. The room was cute and clean. Staff was nice. Parking is free and safe. Overall an old fashioned type of feel which I loved. My only complaint was the thermostat was clearly not accurate as we woke up with […] the room SO hot both mornings even though it was set at 65. It seemed as though it was on full blast or off completely. However, not reason enough for me not to return, I would definitely stay here again. Mehr

The lobby and bar area are renovated nicely, however, in my opinion, this hotel is very tired, the rooms small, and our bathroom barely adequate. the upside is the terrific location right on the campus. I would only stay here again if I needed to be on campus

It was very nice for the price and at first I was happy, until.,...I tried to sleep. I stayed on a Thursday night. The hotel is surrounded with student housing. For the most part, it's a fun area, good food, bars, etc. But there is a sorority kitty corner from the front door. I had to be up early for work. About 11pm the party moved out onto the front […] lawn of the sorority. Loud music, girls randomly screaming and chanting, cars honking at the girls wandering in the street, etc. I called the front desk. I was on the 3rd floor close to the front of the building, maybe they could switch my room. No luck, as the hotel was sold out. The girl on the line informed me "Well, sir, it is Thursday night, it's going to be loud". Not want I wanted to hear. I called the police and filed a noise complaint. I waited an hour and the police never came. I'd stay there for the price again, but never if I need to be up early and school is in session. Mehr

The ONLY thing we weren't happy with is that the drain in the tub was VERY slow, but the water, kept my feet warm the whole time. : ) The coffee maker wasn't working right either, so did say something the next day when going for breakfast. Hard to believe nobody else complained about it before this, but the rooms and hotel are very charming and European. […] Very nice. Mehr

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel was redecored in a pleasing old world style. It was plush, posh and clean. The service was friendly and prompt. It was convienent to the Campus and the capitol district making most of my destinations walkable.

I stayed at the above premise on Aug 24 & 25, 2011. The overall condition of the hotel was great, I have to say that the carpet looks very old and probably need to be replaced and it will be adviseable to change you keys room with the magnetic type key instead of that old traditional key i was given i check inn. 2 days later, I stayed just accross […] the street and i have to say that their break fast was a way much better than the one your hotel served. Remember that breakfast is the most important food of the day. The better it is, the less people will spend time going to McDonalds and getting loaded on junk food. Other than that the location was perfect, i had to walk just 5 minutes or so to attend my conference . Thank you Mehr

You can't get a better location than this! If you are looking for a prime spot near/on State St and minutes from the Terrace, this is it! We were steps away from some of my favorite restaurants... the State St scene is, as always, a curiously wonderful sight... and to finish up w/ a beer at the Terrace? What's better? The hotel is a bit older, but has […] LOTS of character. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Free Wi-fi, morning paper, secure, underground parking... and location, location, location! I will definitely be back! Mehr

We enjoyed our stay in this conveniently located hotel.

Great location for walking to sites and events. Dedicated parking. Excellent service and friendly staff. Continental breakfast is cereal, bagels, and doughnuts but breakfast sandwiches can be ordered. Sadly, we were never around for the evening appetizers and desserts!

I really liked staying at the Campus Inn. As an alumnus of UW-Madison, the location couldn't be more perfect. Steps away from State Street, and a few quick blocks to campus or the Capitol. Staff was extremely polite and helpful. One minor detail is that the rooms could use a bit of updating and fixing (peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, ugly carpeting […] ... not a big deal, but keeps the hotel from being great, in my mine). Didn't try the appetizers or the breakfast, seemed to be served at a schedule that wasn't cohesive with mine. All in all, a good stay at a good hotel. Mehr

Musty-smelling hallways and elevators, dingy rooms and old mattresses with worn-out springs. That's the Dahlman House in a nutshell. It makes Motel 6 look like the 4 Seasons. Whatever you do, pass on this one.

This hotel couldn't be in a better location for visiting Madison & the University of Wisconsin. The rooms are not cheap & ours was really small, but I'd definitely stay there again. They have breakfast & snacks. Parking, if you have a rental, is tricky.

Flott beliggenhet på campus ved innsjøen med mange turløyper, og dessuten rett ved the capitol og hovedgata med butikker og imponerende mange restauranter. Flotte rom, litt lytt mellom rommene. På det første rommet var senga litt liten for meg og min tenåringsdatter, og vi ble oppgradert til et stort, flott rom med en kjempestor seng uten ekstra ko […] stnader. Mehr
