Delta King Hotel - Sacramento

Ich war am 22/23.06.2009 in diesem Hotel. Das Hotel ist wirklich etwas besonderes. Das Schiff ist sowohl außen als auch innen hervoragend gepflegt. Die normalen Zimmer sind leider etwas klein, das Ambiente dafür umso besser. Messingarmaturen und Holzverkleideter Spülkasten im Bad und ein schöner Blick auf den Sacramento-River (sofern man ein Zimmer […] in dieser Richtung hat). Dazu ist das Personal sehr nett und ich konnte ohne Probleme meine check-out Zeit etwas nach hinten verschieben. Mehr

Kajüten sind klein aber sehr gut im Schuss und mit viel Liebe Ausgestattet. Morgenessen im Salon mit perfektem Service ist weit über dem üblichen Durchschnitt. Der direkte Anschluss an Old Town ist fantastisch. Wir könne das Hotel immer empfehlen.

Sorry we hadn't stayed there sooner! One night not enough to enjoy the sites or all the Delta King had to offer.

We love to visit Old Town Sacramento for quick getaways and have never tried the Delta King until this weekend. We were thrilled to stay on the Delta King and found it quaint, clean and ideally located. Obviously the rooms are going to be a little small (we stayed in the smallest room and found it no problem at all) as it is still a boat. However, the […] room was clean, well appointed and just plain cool. The breakfast the next morning was top quality as well and made the whole experience well worth taking the risk on the Delta King. Get out of your 'Freeway Hotel' mentality and try something new!! Mehr

We would come back. Restaurant was also very nice. Very romantic. Loved sitting on the deck and watching the river. Room was very small but fine for a couple of nights.

Excellent. Rooms were too small for a chair, but for the historic location, charm & cleanliness. it was worth it .

We booked this at the last minute Easter weekend from our phone while across the street. We had a great time, we got a great price, the staff was very friendly. Easter morning we had great service and food when we went to the dining room for our complimentary breakfast- even though everyone was gearing up for the Easter brunch-we still felt special. […] We are coming back-great spot, great service. This was a good getaway- close to home but far enough to feel like we got away. The shopping was interesting and entertaining and all with in walking distance. The restaurants were reasonably priced and had seafood, Asian food, Italian food and American food to choose from. The Breakfast at the Delta Hotel restaurant was elegant, included a nice view […] and was delicious. It was my 10 year anniversary and money is tight with only one person working in my home and 8 kinds, this was truly a good getaway, reasonable and great atmosphere by just being on the boat next to water. I have already recommended it to many couples as I bragged about my getaway. Mehr

Very comfortable hotel located in the center of Old Sacramento. We were able to walk to most of the attractions on our list. The room was very comfortable, although shockingly small. The free breakfast is a great deal. The food was delicious. The service was a litlle slow and a little less than friendly, but still a good experience with the ambiance. The staff were pleasant. Location was ideal in center of Old Sacramento and within walking distance of Raley's field to enjoy a game of AAA baseball. Room was surprisingly nice and comfortable. Breakfast was a wonderful delight. Was a very enjoyable and relaxing weekend! Will recommend this to family and friends.

Different experience! It was like being on a small cruise ship that doesn't move. Enjoyed strolling Old Sacramento. Great bar/lounge and awesome food!

We stayed with our toddler and he loved the Delta King since it is a boat. The proximity of the hotel to Old Town Sacramento made it really convenient as well. We didn't need our car at all.

The Delta King is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The rooms are comfortable and very clean and the location in beautiful. Our room was equipped with all mod cons, coffee machine etc. and the bathroom was much bigger than i expected. As a coeliac the best thing for me was the the breakfast menu had gluten free pancakes on it which were […] totally delicious. I am used to not being able to order more than fruit off the menu so I was very very happy to see that they catered for people with special dietary conditions. Overall we had a wonderful night on board the Delta King and would certainly recommend it. Mehr

Very unique hotel - it is a refurbished boat after all - with very friendly and attentive staff in the restaurant and bar. The location can't be beat for walking around Old Town. The ONLY issue is potential noise. We wear earplugs to sleep so that wasn't a problem but we could see it being for others.

The Delta KIng was a fun place to stay since very few hotels are former river boats. The location in Old Sacramento was perfect.

Room was small but charming and not impossible. Restaurant was fantastic and the location couldn't be better. Festivities in the Paddle Wheel Saloon for St. Patrick's Day were great.

The hotel was quaint and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant served good food, especially breakfast. The location, embedded in the surrounding Old Town Sacramento neighboorhood, was historic and very interesting,...great for picture taking. The proximity to the Railroad Museum was also a plus. The view of the river at night was very romantic. […] The only regret I had was that I was not in town long enough to sample the entertainment on the riverboat hotel. Mehr

I really liked staying at this hotel, but it got a little loud at night because there are enough bars in Old Sac that people would come back messy and mouthy. Because of the boat's old construction, there's not much sound insulation, so I eventually asked to be moved when a couple and their little bundle of joy took the room above me. Great staff though, […] and frankly it's just kind of unique to stay on a boat instead of in a traditional hotel. I'd definitely stay here if I were just on vacation and didn't have work to contend with. Mehr

The river, Old Sac, and a riverboat to stay on? What is not to like? We had a great time. Room was nice and clean, very cozy and unique. Breakfast was delicious. Would definitely return.

Great location on river in Old Sac. Cute concept, you're staying on a boat! But, I didn't sleep at all. Walls are paper thin, you can hear everything. The website claimed there was ac in every room but there wasn't. Bring ear plugs, eye shades, and a portable fan.

it is a wonderful hotel, but I had to plan around a complicated trip to avoid spending a Friday or Sat night here when the rates are absurd

The first thing I must mention is the quality of the staff. Every single staff member we encountered went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, from the front desk to the unknown staff in the hallway who took the ice bucket out of my husband's hand and delivered it full of ice back to him to the waiter who teased us with ghost stories. The room […] was beautifully appointed and the river view was lovely and relaxing. The restaurants and bar serve top notch cuisine with a European flair. Sacramento Old Town is a gangplank away. This is an authentic, restored riverboat. Don't expect the spaciousness and amenities of a five-star hotel, but if you like the idea of imagining you're traveling with Mark Twain or Bat Masterson, this is a great place to stay in Sacramento. Once you get used to the fact that you are on a real boat that is listing a few degrees so the floors (and of course everything else) lists a few degrees, it was a very pleasant, albeit small (it is a boat after all) room. And breakfast overlooking the river was very pleasant and peaceful.

We really enjoyed our stay. It was a fun experience, but don't stay here if you like lots of amenities. It's pretty much just a cute, clean, historic type room in the heart of Old Sacramento.

Very enjoyable we loved the ambiance of the old riverboat - the decor, the woodwork, all of the little extras that you expect and enjoy from an historic place...the downside was not very convenient access and having to lug the baggage up the stairs!! But worth the effort!!! We also enjoyed the Irish Music at the bar in the evening.

We stayed just one night (Friday) and our room was nice; however, being right by the metal stairs, made for a restless sleep. Loud guests went up and down all night. We enjoyed our brekfast and dinner in the restaurant. Old Sacramento is fun but the parking meters operate until 8 PM and you must move your car every two hours.

This is different... and just fun! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

The staff at the Delta King were warm, courteous and attentive. You must expect small rooms as afterall, it is a restored paddlewheel. If you want everything modern this is not the place to stay: as for us, sitting on the deck enjoying the river & quiet in Old Sac was wonderful. The food & ambience was good at the Delta King but there are many choices […] to dine within walking distance. Expect to pay for parking whether it is at a parking garage or their valet. Mehr

I took my Fiance' to the Delta King where I had stayed before and I have to say they took Amazing care of us! The food was so Fantastic we ate dinner there two nights in a row. Alice our server was a gem. I love that the look and feel of the ship while having been renovated still has such a nostalgic feel to it. The entire staff was GREAT!

Excellent! We love it there! The only neg,no heat/ A/C in room. Cristmas shopping in Old Town Sac. Has thousands of ideas:) Joes Crab shack is 100 yards away! What more do you need:)

It's a must "try"! We stayed one night as we were flying out of Sacramento International Airport the following morning, so we came in late and left very early. We went to the bar where they had live Irish music playing. That was fun! (Housekeeping needs to pay attention the cobwebs all over the lights, though.) Only other drawback, is the train! The […] tracks are less than 50 feet from the hotel and my husband is a light sleeper, so every time it roared through, it woke him. We still enjoyed our stay and will stay again!! Mehr

Though this may be our fault for checking in kind of late the day we stayed, I think your room reservation should be held based on when they charge you. I booked my room two and a half weeks in advanced and was charged at that time. I checked in at 6:30pm the night of our stay and was given a room literally right across from the check in desk. I woke […] up at 6am because of hotel guests checking out and being loud with conversation. The walls are paper thin and I could tell in detail what every conversation was about. There are no signs in the lobby asking the guest to please be respectful of the guest right across the hall and to keep the noise level down. When I told the front desk of the lack of sleep and issues that I had, they offered no solution in the future or reason as to why they charged me before my stay. Other than that it was an ok place to stay, just once to say you did. No other reason besides that. Mehr

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Delta King. Being former residents of Sacramento, we had fun visiting, seeing Old Town, and the Crocker Museum. The breakfast on board was fabulous! Friendly staff made it a fun experience for us.

Quaint; fun to stay on a whim. I wouldn't recommend it for a special occasion. We went in early January, and the bar noise wasn't a problem. There was no one on the boat as best we could tell. Hard to get our breakfast in the morning -- we waited like 10 minutes before any staff showed up. The awful part was there was a big bag of garbage -- pizza […] box, food, old balloon animals -- left on the deck. For the whole stay! No one thought a bag of garbage, laying open in front of the room two doors down was something to pick up? We always wanted to stay here, and it was cute, but not worth the anticipation. Mehr

They nickle and dime you to death. Valet parking $18, extra person in your room $13. Room was ok, small everything. Bathroom small, good shower water pressure though. Close to Westfield mall, walking distance. In old Sacramento, good location. River is gross though, view of "danger" signs posted across the entire river is depressing.

Easy to find but disappointed in lack of self-park. It was fun staying in the hotel but two annoyances stick out: trains with loud whistles at night and loud doors. I stayed in a city-facing room and was awoken by at least one train that came by around 2 am. The doors also make a lot of noise when closing. The wood is somewhat warped to the point […] some people need to slam the them to close all the way. Mehr
