The staff was very helpful. the hardest part was finding it I have a new GPS and it took me the wrong way to an empty lot. we had to call the hotel to get accurate directions.

Due to the conditions (snow) that day I was very grateful for the location and comfort I felt. Also it was five minutes away from my mother's home.

First off, Expedia has the address as 308 Orange Ave Nw. The correct address is 308 Orange Ave NE. Following the directions to the address given puts one in a neighborhood where it is uncomfortable being in a rental car looking at a map. I'm pretty sure that address doesn't exist. The actual location is on the East side of 581. Oh, it's next door to […] a cemetary, so if that bothers you, don't book there. The hotel itself is old, and not particularly well-kept. The staff were friendly and when I asked for extra towels, I got them. Sort of. I do not understand why a room for 4 that is booked for 4 only comes with two towels. At any rate, I didn't COUNT the towels when I picked them up from the desk, and there was only one bath towel. So, we had three towels for 4 people. The room was a good size for 4 people. There were cobwebs in the corners and dust on the coffee maker. The bed felt like a table, but surprisingly, my normally sore back didn't hurt when I got up! Go figure. Lodging in Roanoke is expensive. We stayed where we could afford. If a friend asked about staying at this hotel, I would recommend some place that wasn't in Roanoke. We just didn't know any better! If you HAVE to stay in Roanoke, and just need a place to crash for a night and still be able to afford food the next day, this will do the trick. I only encountered the same desk clerk coming and going and he was COMPLETELY devoid of personality and certainly did nothing to sell the place. But that doesn't matter to some people. Also both a friend in another room and I had experience with the housekeeping staff ignoring the Do Not Disturb sign and I don't think that should happen. I also had […] behavioral issues with other guests but I realize you cannot blame the hotel for that. So my "OK" review is based simply on the fact that you get what you pay for at this place. If you want a place to sleep and shower and want to pay as little as possible for it, then it is a decent bargain. If you want any kind of luxury or amenities beyond the basics, then go elsewhere. I will say that this room was cleaner and better organized than others I have had at this same location and other than the above-mentioned gaffe by the housekeeping staff, the room was well-maintained during my three day stay. The king sized bed was very comfortable. There were plenty of towels and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The best thing about the accomodations was the good location for the conference I was attending and the price was great! Would recommend it!

Someone should go into room 122 and check it out. This was without a doubt the worst hotel I've every been in over the last 30 years (and I've been in some really bad ones).

the hotel was right across the street from the civic ctr where our grand daughters graduation was held. The mattress was very hard & the toilet ran every few minutes. It wasn't worth complaining about as we got there at 2 a.m. & checked out at 11 a.m. We did let the person at the desk know when we checked out & he said he would check into it.

Nothing to rave about here. Only needed a place to crash for the night, and this was just right for the price. If your expectations are low, you won't be disappointed.

We booked this on line and when I checked in the night clerk made me pay again. I knew that I did not need to and we were to tired to fight with him. So the next morning I went back up and spoke to the manager and her refunded me on my CC the only thing I would say make sure all your clerks know we dont need to pay again when we check in.

My husband and I were driving back home after the Thanksgiving holiday and due to several accidents, and traffic jams, we could not finish our trip home. Therefore, we had to pull over and spend the night at a hotel. We looked up options from our iPhone, called hotels.com, and booked our room at the Econo Lodge. The room was ok for a cheap hotel, being […] that the bed was REALLY HARD, and the pillows VERY FLAT and uncomfortable and us not being able to access the free Wi-Fi from our room. Also, the bathroom could have been more clean (hair in bathtub area) and needs updating (water did not flow through the old shower head properly and the tub mat was ripped). On the positive note, the front desk guy was very nice and the check in/check out process was very easy and quick. I am sure they would have given us extra pillows if we asked. It was late and we were too tired to request them after we laid down for the evening. Overall, we were tired and the room provided us with a place to sleep and recharge for our long drive home. Mehr

I was given a "non-smoking" room as requested, but it reeked of smoke, there were ash burn holes on the bed cover. Called the front desk, but the clerk insisted it was a non-smoking room and didn't do anything. He did call an hour later and offered to change me to another room, but by then I was already settled into bed and didn't want to move. Later […] I visited a friend in another non-smoking room and it also smelled and had cigarette burns on the furniture, so changing rooms wouldn't have helped anyway. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who is a non-smoker. Room also had stained and peeling wallpaper near the ceiling. The only positive thing I can say is that the hotel is in a great location if you need to be at the Roanoke Civic Center. Mehr

It was terrible. I had two rooms for the evacuation. They both had roaches and other bugs. My husband found a pusher to push crack rocks in a crack pipe. And he found porn magazines under the mattress. We did a second evacuation from that place at 4 in the morning:::::::::::

Paid Hotels.com for the room arrived then was charged again. Had to fight to get my money back because the front desk tried to say I was a liar about pre- paying. Hotels.com got it straight for me but HUGE inconvenience!! Love this site but hated the Hotel!

I only stayed here because it was about half-price of the other hotels in the area and I was taking the VA Bar. It's a 5 minute walk from the Civic Center where the Bar is administered, so you can't beat that. However, you also get what you pay for. The rooms were clean, but needed to be updated including some of the bathroom wall trim and definitely […] the AC. This is an old building, but it looked well maintained and freshly painted outside. Inside, everything was clean and worked as it should. The a/c was quiet and effective. The hotel is located on and near busy highways, so I was concerned about traffic noise: however, all was quiet inside our room. Some changes need to be made like exaust fan in the bathroom made loud noise (also heard room beside mine), floors needed vaccumed behind furniture (plugged in my cell phone charger and ther were cobwebs and crums behind nightstand),stickbugs found in window and beside of tv,tubs are unsafe to stand in while showering (they have uneven bottom/sides) […] and need better access to back side of building so you don't have to get back on main highway to go to locals close to hotel. The hotel itself was dirty and had a bad smell. The sheets were questionable, and I had a visibly soiled pillowcase. There were holes in the wall as well as bathroom door. The location itself was noisy. Every time someone walked by I didn't know if they were trying to come in my room or not. Conversations were clearly audible. I was not expecting the Ritz when I booked the hotel, and while the cliche "You get what you pay for" holds true in certain situations, this hotel was not acceptable.
