Das Hotel ist wirklich super. Parkplatz kostenlos im eigenen Parkhaus. Zimmer sind sauber und geräumig. Das Personal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Es gibt ein sehr gutes Frühstück, auch warme Speisen und Waffelautomaten:-) dazu gibt es noch zwischen 17.30 und 19.00Uhr ein paar warme Snacks, Chicken Tenders, Maccaroni mit Käsesoße usw. dazu 3 Freigetränke, auch alkoholisch. Wir waren mit diesem Hotel rundrum zufrieden.

Das Hotel bietet sich an, um einen Kurzurlaub in der Nähe von St Louis zu machen. Mit dem Auto sind es 15 min bis nach St Louis (Gateway Arch...). Frühstück in Ordnung (in der Lobby). Für ein bis zwei Nächte völlig ausreichend.

Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Blick auf den Arch und es war wirklich toll. Ein Blick zum Baseball Stadium wäre auch tolle gewesen besonders wenn ein Spiel stattfindet. Das Hotel ist zentral gelegen und man kann alles zu Fuß erreichen. Allerdings sollte man sich bei Dunkelheit von dem Hotel nicht weit entfernen, denn bei Dunkelheit ändert sich das Publikum. Der Pool und das Fintess Center waren gut und der Zimmerservice auch. Allerdings waren gerade Bauarbeiten im Hotel und es ging morgens schon früh mit dem Bohren los.

Neben einem 37-Zoll-Flachbildfernseher mit Premium-Kabel-TV-Empfang sind die Zimmer mit folgenden Angeboten und/oder technischen Geräten ausgestattet: kostenlose Filmkanäle. One of the nicest hotel in the area. I feel at ease during my recent stay. I love the staff, the room are kept clean, and the response time to your needs is appropriate. Would I recommend it? Every time I am in St Louis, I look forward to my stay at the Cheshire.

"Faded Fake Charm"
The Cheshire is funky and unserious. For those who revel in kitsch - It's faux English inn facade and decor provide its odd appeal. The problem is that underneath the ersatz, cheesy "country inn" decor - there is no charm, competence, or elan - only sloth & disappointment. The best example is the bar. It is small & very dark - some might say it's cozy. […] On Valentine's Day - there was live piano music and every seat was occupied. Unfortunately, the bartender (a woman) was ignorant & dumb as a post. She made me wait more than 15 minutes just to take my order for a glass of wine. No excuse. The rooms have very comfortable beds. On the downside - the HVAC seems to run constantly, so one has the sound of the fan going all night long - regardless of the room's temperature. The hotel does not have a restaurant - they do serve snack food in the lounge. All in all - this is a place to bring a not-too-bright date for a one night stand. Lousy for the business traveler who's in town for the week. Mehr
I'll take time to point out the positives...We have a very fine collection of Museum Quality examples throughout the common space ..so perhaps you were referring to some of the "themed" art work in the guest rooms which some might consider "faux". Regarding your service in Fox & Hounds, I apologize that you had to wait 15 minutes, that is unacceptable. We have a new Beverage Manger, who is evaluating our team members, and we have added extra training, so I'm sure your next experience will be what you expect. Thanks for the nice comment our beds. The Cheshire features the Serta "Presidential" double Euro-Top Beds. We are fixing every (and they are brand new) HVAC unit. You are indeed correct, we only have the small, and "cozy" Fox & Hounds Pub. The Cheshire is in the process of adding private meeting and social function space, along with our signature Cheshire Restaurant (open only for dinner) along with our Gastro Pub and Restaurant. We will also be adding a Market/Deli concept all to the tune of $12 million dollars. Our design partner is none other than the James Beard Award-Winner, Mr. Bob Amick, who helped us open 360 atop the Hilton at the St. Louis Ballpark. 360 as many know has been voted "One of the Ten Best Rooftop Bars in The World". Our current pub fare is fresh, locally sourced and organic. Our hotel lends itself to both leisure and business travelers, and in fact, we have a very loyal base of business travelers that call the Cheshire their home away from home. Hard to beat for our complimentary parking, WiFi, and continental breakfast. Great value, one of the best locations and friendly "sincere" service. Sincerely,

"Lovely"
I can't begin to describe what an amazing time we had at the Cheshire! From the room to the staff to the breakfast to the free parking (complete with very friendly attendants) we were impressed with every detail. Also, I can't remember a better dinner than the one we had at Fox and Hounds. On our next trip back to St. Louis, I wouldn't imagine staying […] somewhere else. Mehr

"The Cheshire outside St. Louis"
Be aware the Hotel does not offer transportation to/from airport. After switching rooms the first time, I was put in a room with sticky floors. Hair in the bathroom from previouse guests. I reserved an upgraded room based on the information listed on website, but when I arrived, I had nothing more than a standard room. After returning to the hotel each […] day, I needed to go to the front desk to get a new key card. Card would not work the next day. Upon check out, I expressed my concerns at the front desk, nothing more than "would you like a comment card" Mehr

The Cheshire is a small luxury boutique hotel, thus like many of the other luxury hotels here in St. Louis (Ignacio, Moonrise, Chase, Ritz, etc.), we do not offer shuttle service to the ariport. First let me apologize that that you were put into a room with sticky floors. This of course, along with the hair should never happen. I apologize that we had you blocked into a standard room, when you booked an upgraded room type. We have been running a high occupancy, and we are finalizing some of the guest rooms, so your required room type may not have been available at your time of checkin. If this is/was the case, I apologize that we did not communicate to you that the room type you requested was not available. FYI...Many guests leave their key on their laptop and/or next to their cell phone, which often demagnatizes thier key. Perhaps this happened to you? I have some new team members and a new Front Office Manager starting today, thus I will use your comments as a training guide on how to listen to guests and offer them options when their stay is not perfect. I hope you will consider in the future.

Excellent service and accomodations. The decor was relaxing and comfortable with special touches ( i.e china used for breakfast bar, sterling silver, fire going in fireplace, an authors name on the room doors with corresponding books in your room). The stay was very enjoyable.
Thanks for mentioning the small touches, like the china for breakfast. We designed the hotel to feel like a deluxe British Cottage. Thus the relaxing decor coupled with our service, makes for a very comfortable stay.

We loved staying at this charming hotel. We highly recommend it, though do some advance work looking into the rooms/suites. We had a suite and the bathroom was quite small. So, next time, we'll pick one of the other ones. Other than that, the Cheshire is truly a special little place!!! I think your opening "tag line" says it all... Wonderful cozy hotel...would highly recommend!! It you require a larger bathroom, you might like our Brideshead Revisited and/or Death on the Nile Suites...great tubs, with the flat screen on the wall and the sink is in a different area. "Lovely look - skimpy breakfast"
I needed a place near Forest Park and found the Cheshire thru a quick internet search. On the up side...It was nicely appointed and centrally located. My room was comfy. On the down side, the breakfast was not worth eating so I had to go outside the hotel for something a little nicer. Also, the fire alarm at 0615 in the morning and the dozen or so firetrucks […] weren't exactly how I hadplanned to spend that morning. Luckily it was a false alarm but I was awake by then. I think we'll give them another shot next visit to STL. Mehr

The cheshire is a pretty cute hotel - the rennovations to the rooms are fantastic and very well done. The bar downstairs is very quaint and is a great place to grab a burger and beer. Unfortunately the night that we stayed there they had a fire at 6AM and the alarms went off sending all guests (and their pets - we had our dog with us) outside in the […] cold. We stood shivering for about an hour when they let us back in. Wouldn't have been too bad, however the next morning we got a little later start than we had hoped for due to lack of sleep, and when we asked for a late check out they denied it unless we wanted to be charged extra! I'm doubtful that everyone will have the same experience as us (hopefully fires don't happen every night), however their customer service the next day was nuts! Mehr

We stayed at the Cheshire a few years ago and enjoyed it. We were afraid that the renovation would take away all the distinctive, if somewhat hokey, Olde English atmosphere. However, we were delighted to find that the place is still very much itself, complete with stuffed bear, wood-burning fireplace in the lobby, and excellent bar. The public areas […] look and feel much the same, but the rooms have fresh furnishings, linens, and up-to-date TVs. The staff was welcoming and eager to serve. The only negative we encountered over a three-night stay was the remains of a room service meal that sat in a hallway for almost an entire day. However, we'll definitely stay at the Cheshire again. We have a number of rooms in The Cheshire. We have deluxe, superior, royal, epic, min suites, and novelty suites, just to names a few. So, I'm sorry that you felt your room was small. I would suggest checking the website or calling us next time, so that we can find you the perfect sized room. We do offer complimentary Kaldi's coffee, along with Tea Forte. They are really enjoyed by all. This time of the year, the coffee does tend to go quickly, so I'm sorry that we were out when you tried to get a cup. Our coffee is brewed fresh every couple of hours, so, I do apologize that you had difficulty finding coffee, and of course if it was brought to our attention, we would have certain brewed you a fresh pot right away. Come back again, and I'll personally join you for a cup, and I'll see if I can find an upgrade for you to a larger room.

Loved it! I will definitely stay at this hotel on my return trip to St. Louis. The rooms were very tastefully decorated, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The continental breakfast was more than adequate, and served in a very cozy and quant dining area.

"The Cheshire Inn - good and not so good"
This hotel was recently refurbished and re-opened, as I understand. The decorating is nice enough, and the desk staff was at the usual helpful level. The bar and lobby area are nice places to sit, although our booth in the bar had an odor reminiscent of certain cigar or pipe tobacco (not smoke, just as if you had opened the tobacco pouch or cigar humidor). The […] room (Horace Walpole, they are all named after British authors) had some problems: 1. The design of the room is odd. Upon entering, you immediately encounter the bed. The bathroom and closet area is at the far end of the room from the door. The result is a lack of privacy. 2. The fan for the heater was way too loud (whooshing of air). This could be corrected by turning off the thermostat, of course, but that really shouldn't be necessary. 3. The oddest thing was the bathroom lighting. They had a motion activated bathroom light that stayed on for a few minutes after leaving. At night, we were left with too much illumination in the room after we used the toilet. This was compounded by the door design, which incoorated a frosted glass full length panel. They could easily put a curtain over the glass. 4. A small point - I left a pajama bottom and T-shirt behind. . When I called about it, I was told they would have housekeeping call back. Didn't happen. Mehr
"Old English Themed Hotel"
This remodeled gem near Forest Park and Clayton shopping is a nice experience. A relaxing atmosphere in the lobby, comfortable beds but also right on the street. The restaurant is still being remodeled but not an inconvenience. I would recommend this property.

I grew up in St. Louis Mo. My husband worked there in his early teens. This place is a landmark. The interior was just beautiful. We were there with my son, but this could be a great Romance get away with all the dark wood decore and lush velvet. You'll instantly feel like a King and Queen! I recomend this to everyone. I was visiting St. Louis with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday, and we were both pleasantly surprised with The Cheshire. The themed rooms are fun and interesting. Although the roooms have been remodeled, many of the original pieces are still in place. Our checkin was smooth and painless, and we found our room to be spotless and odor-free. Parking […] and internet were complimentary, and the staff was friendly and accomodating. The bathroom was small, but a good use of the small space. We enjoyed a light dinner a couple beers in the pub inside the hotel as well, great food and drink! My only complaint is that it was a bit noisy inside the room. We could practically hear our neighbor's conversations, but it wasn't anything that ruined our stay. And yes, the bathroom light is weird and is on some sort of timer that can't be disabled, but this wasn't a deal breaker either. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to STL. Mehr

"Pleasantly surprised!"
Great little boutique hotel in St. Louis, my friends and I were pleasantly surprised about how nice it was! Very charming and had a great little pub downstairs next to the lobby. Included free breakfast too!

"Not as advertised."
This hotel has been fixed, but it has ways to go. The carpeting that surrounds the bed and meets the floor had carpet tack boards sticking through it and was very dangerous. Went into the bathroom to get a towel to try to cover the area where the carpeting meets the floor and the towel had holes, stains and god knows what the other stains were. The […] bed was not clean and the sheets smelled. They placed a fan in the middle of the room so the cold air could get to the area of the bedroom. I got the manager to come and see my concerns and he was very apologetic and offered a free nights stay. Since this was booked through a third party, the refund would be difficult so he offered a gift certificate. Went to check out and still waiting for my certificate. N Mehr

Our stay at the recently renovated Cheshire Hotel was wonderful. The 24-hour complimentary tea and coffee selection was very enjoyable, the continental breakfast was quite extensive, the staff was incredibly friendly, the patio was great to relax in, the business room had nice computers with speedy Internet, the room was cozy, spacious, clean and a […] great combo of British traditional charm with modern touches. We really enjoyed our stay there (and no, no one paid me to write this review :). It's only a block from the huge Forest Park, so the location is great, too. This is unique place that I wanted to like a lot, but ended up thinking that it was just OK. "Very nice for our family"
We were traveling with our 6 mo old and 2 year old, never too sure about how that's going to work out, but it went REALLY well. The Cheshire was very accommodating. Our room was spacious and easily fit the hotel's crib and our Pack and Play. We had a squeaky door upon arrival that was quickly taken care of. The lobby was beautifully decorated and the […] 8 foot bear was constant entertainment for our 2 yr old. We never felt out of place with the little ones when we took over a seating area to let the baby roll around while we had afternoon tea and coffee! The breakfast was perfect for us and more than satisfying. The staff was pleasant and welcoming. Also, the dogs of guests were entertaining to our children and seemed a great fit! One thing I would change would be the automatic lighting in the bathroom. We couldn't get it to shut off the second night and it goes on at full strength - not what I want in the middle of the night. Perhaps there was a way to do that, but we couldn't figure it out and forgot to ask. The location of this hotel couldn't have been better for our needs. We spent the day in Forest Park and the Zoo - all within a good walking distance of the hotel. Our friends lived close by, so it was convenient for us. We would definitely stay there again. Mehr
"The Cheshire St Louis MO"
Great place, please make sure and ask the personnel to explain how the bathroom light works because it is on a timer/sensor. Drove me a little crazy. I would like to go again, maybe without three kids next time :). No refrigerator or microwave and just a pod coffee machine. Maybe the bigger rooms or suites have more. Went to a great steak house called […] the Charcoal House off Manchester; really good. Overall, nice people and a nice place, nice neighborhood, we walked to dinner the first night, worth seeing. "Beautiful Renovation"
Having stayed at this hotel some years back when it was in desperate need of updating, we were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful job done with the renovations. The public spaces of the hotel were spruced up without losing the Old English charm of the original hotel. The rooms were modern yet had a traditional character of the original hotel. The […] bathroom was smallish, but the use of space was very functional and comfortable. We loved the Fox and the Hound Pub and are anxious to try the new restaurant when it is finished. I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in St. Louis. The surrounding area of Washington University and Forest Park are some of the most beautiful areas in the city. Mehr
Loved the ambiance, the furnishings were beautiful and maintained the British theme wonderfully. The staff was very friendly & helpful. Great location to get to zoo,botanical gardens,downtown and the arch. Will certainly stay again if back in the area.
"Paradise Found"
Perhaps that's an exaggeration, but I was delighted with my stay in the John Milton Room at The Cheshire. A copy of Paradise Lost may have been waiting for my perusal on the table next to the comfy armchair, but I certainly felt as if I were in heaven. I had no idea prior to booking that this hotel had a literary theme. Nothing could have been more […] perfect for me. i was attending a mystery writer's convention. With the Baroness Orczy Room right next door and G.K. Chesterton and the Death on the Nile suite directly below me the mood was set for the whole weekend. If ever i have the money to splurge again and I were traveling to St. Louis I would definitely choose The Cheshire again. It's apparently mid range for the quality of the hotel, but not at all in my budget for normal travel. Outstanding from start to finish. Let's hope this is just not just due to being only open for two months. Let's hope The Cheshire's magic will be long lived. Mehr
"Wonderful place with still a lot of kinks"
The Cheshire has been redone beautifully, and the staff is kind and eager to please. But they need to learn to work out the basics better, such as room not getting cleaned until nearly 5pm, forgetting to give us crucial wake-up call we needed to catch a plane, and a bathroom light that goes on automatically when you enter the room and stays on for what […] seems like ten minutes, shining through the glass-windowed door to illuminate the room at night. And just silly things like not having any tea besides herbal at breakfast. It's so nice to be away from chains and their weird smell and cookie cutter look, but the Cheshire could use some of the basic procedures the chains use to make things run smoothly. Mehr
