Econo Lodge Montpelier - Montpelier

Front Desk unoccupied upon arrival, after ringing the bell and waiting several minutes a young lady came out to check us in. She was very rude and acted like we were imposing. When walking to our room we saw dog feces including in front of our door. The room had material falling from the seams as if it had been wet. The carpet was worn, the bathroom […] was in need of repair, The faucets didn't work well, the grout was discolored, the toilet paper needed replacing. I will never stay there again and I don't recommend it. Mehr

We stayed here a couple nights just to have a place to sleep after hitting the slopes. Basic hotel- hot shower and continental breakfast.

The econolodge in Montpilear, VT, was terrible. When walking on the floors it felt like you were going to fall through them. The TV service had about 20 channels even though thier own brochure from the lobby said Directtv. The rooms themselves were not cleaned very well. And when we arrived the front desk clerk and I guess the maintenence man where […] yelling at each other, plus thier computer system was nt working had I not brought a copy of our reservation we would not have gotten a room. We decided to leave a day early at 4 in the afternoon and drive the 8 hours home to Pennsylvania than spend another night in that hotel. Mehr

Where to begin... to start we needed to see three rooms before we found one we could stay in. The two rooms we were shown on the first floor had the worst musty smell. We even ran the air conditioner in the first room for half an hour to give it a chance to clear out. When the second room we were shown was just as musty as the first, we didn't even […] give it the chance. The first floor hallway not only had mold spots on the carpet, but a three foot puddle of water, and I'm not talking about a damp spot, I mean a puddle. The carpet squished when you walked on it. On top of that when the desk clerk walked us through it to our second room, he went right over it like it wasn't at all concerning. At check in we were told there was free, no password required wireless, which when we finally found a room on the second floor, didn't work. I was trying on my smartphone, my sister on her tablet and it kept asking for a logon screen that would never load. Even, when my sister gave in and went to use the public computer in the upstairs lobby, it was the slowest internet she had ever used. Being a frequent traveler to the area, I knew that the hotel had under gone renovations, but the quality is horrendous. The new exterior windows, have cracks in at least two on each floor. The external doors, excluding the main door, don't latch. And the hallway on the second floor feels like it's made of plywood laid across 2x4s. No nails, no supports, just a carpet holding it together. Finally when we went to check out, the girl working the desk couldn't find our information in the computer, and didn't appear to know how to check us out. Honestly the only thing I can say that's NOT negative is that the breakfast wasn't horrible. I've had MUCH better, but for a economy hotel it was acceptable. Honestly, I will never, ever book here again. Mehr

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I had read numerous reviews that said there were intolerable malodours in the hotel. The lobby area smelled like the carpet had just been steamed, but the room was perfectly fine. It was comfortable, clean and there was in-room coffee. The net connection was reliable. The breakfast […] was comprehensive - they offer bagels, pastries, cereals, toast and DIY waffles. Plenty of fruit, condiments and even sausages. Excellent breakfast choice. The hotel is a short stroll from Montpelier, which is one of the most beautiful and friendly little towns I've had the pleasure of visiting. I am very pleased to recommend the Econolodge Montpelier to business and leisure travellers alike. Mehr

The hotel was in a miserable condition. However you get what you pay. The breakfast is reasonable and the staff was friendly.

The rooms were OK - there was a funny smell when you walked in. Treatments all very old, Air conditioner was very noisy. Served it's purpose, but won't go back.

The thing that struck us was the flooring. The room we were assigned was on the 2nd floor. There were spots in the walkway where you felt as if you would fall through. Well, that wasn't so bad, but when you had the same feeling in your room....that's bad. Then to see soap from the last guest still stuck in the shower draing told me all I needed to […] know. I would never stay here again- and I travel a lot- about 50+ nights a year. I will go back to my Marriott properties and pay a bit more. Mehr

1. An elevator is needed. 2. The ice machine wouldn't shut off. 3. The breakfast area is too small. 4. The flooring on the second floor is terrible.

the room was clean, breakfast was fine

Stayed here to ski the next day. I didn't expect much for the cheapest place in town. Our room was clean, heat worked, tv worked. Free continental breakfast was edible(waffles and a bagel for me). The place is old, but for the money, it was fine because I knew what I was getting.

This was the worst place we stayed at over a 10 day visit to New England. No elevator, no help. Rooms were maintained by inexperienced people. Shabby caulking in bathroom. Old, old carpet. Down right depressing. No second security lock on door. Do not recommend.

Unfortunately, this hotel was a "dive." We were very disappointed and surprised since Econolodge is part of the Comfort family. We decided not to stay the next night for several reasons: flies in the room, torn sheets and blankets, shower curtain not adjusted adequately, smell embedded in the carpets, the bed was not comfortable - and the rooms do not […] have windows to get fresh air. Hotel was adequate, a bit dilapidated, but fairly clean. Just couldn't deal with the smell in the room, smelled just like walking into an old singlewide trailor........ Also, room was on the second floor and the hallway felt very spongey, like maybe we'd make it to the door at the end of the hallway, or maybe we would end up in the parking lot belo […] w. Mehr

The hotel is old, and you should expect as much. The room smelled musty, and the entire building clearly showed signs of age. However, the linens seemed clean, it is very close to downtown Montpelier, and for the price it was sufficient.
