Das Hotel ist im allgemeinen gut, jedoch wirkt alles relativ altmodisch, z.B. alte dunkle Spannteppiche auf den Etagen sowie ziemlich in die Jahre gekommene Aufzüge. Das Hotel benötigt einige Renovationen. Der Service ist freundlich und gut. Das Hotel verfügt über ein sog. "Business Center" wo man freien Zugriff auf das Internet hat. In dem Raum befinden […] sich aber gerade mal zwei PCs welche natürlich oft besetzt sind. Die Poolanlage ist gut, jedoch hört und riecht man leider den intensiven Verkehr, der am naheliegenden Malecon vorbeibraust und vorbeihuupt. Gut ausgerüstet ist das Hoteleigene Fintesscenter welches 24h geöffnet ist. Die Maschinen sind relativ neu und es hat alles was es braucht. Weniger gut ist das Jacuzzi das eine viel zu heisse Wassertemparatur hatte. Eine Meldung beim Staff brachte keine Verbesserung. Die Taxipreise vom Hotelhaupteingang sind unerhört teuer. 40US für einen Transport innerhalb von Santo Domingo. Beim Hotelhinterzugang gibt es das selbe für einen Viertel des Preises. Negativ ist, dass es im Hotel kein Restaurant gibt wo man Abendessen bekommen kann. Man muss dazu also immer raus. Es gibt aber einige gute Restaurant in der Nähe es Hotels, allerdings sollte man am Abend nicht zu Fuss dorthin gehen, sondern Sicherheitshalber besser mit dem Taxi hinfahren. So das wärs erst mal. This hotel has the best service, clean and good food in restaurant, very nice pool and grounds, however lacks in updates, it desperately needs room updating, the tower rooms are nicest with good beds garden rooms still have old beds that are hard. bathrooms need updating. At least its clean and does not have bad odors.

The look of the hotel is nice, not a whole lot it only has a casino attached. The room is not of the other world, curtains do not cover the windows completly which is uncorfortable in the mornings. Garden rooms are spacious and comfortable, but the corridors are very noisy, nothing to prevent echoing due to floor, wall and ceiling building material. .

They have this strict exact name of guess policy. With what they charge, the only thing should matter is the verification that I booked the room for two people. This is the second time that has happen. I will never stay there again.

Nice hotel but need an update!!!

I thought that my stay at The Renaissance Jaragua was going to be a very good experience based in the history and reputation this hotel used to have. How wrong I was. The room was needing a thorough overhaul. It was worn and smelling really bad .The food was terrible. WiFi was only available in public areas at an outrageous price. And to solve a simple […] customer service problem I almost had to ask for a meeting with the Chairman of the Board. No customer service representative or front desk clerk could make any decision to have a satisfied customer. In a few words, I'll never get caught in this hole ever again. Not even for free. Mehr

The Jaragua at Santo Domingo used to be a fine Hotel, not any longer. Casino under construction, old hotel, far from everywhere.

The hotel's true star rating is 3.5. We thought we were getting a 4 star nonetheless it wasn't that bad. The staff were nice and the location is great. I only hope they upgrade the rooms before I visit again

Hotel rooms are OK for the price but bathrooms look old and need lots of work. Water gets cold and hot and there is no way to correct this

The hotel was very comfortable and the staff was very professional and helpful . I would book a stay there again and do recommend it to others.

Only thing I would say is a downside is no WIFI in the garden room area. And it should be free.

Good hotel but old, could use some remodeling which has started in the garden rooms, the service is outstanding the proeprty is great, only tennis courts in the area, great pool, good cean views, great service, good casino and conference center, no poker you have to go to Melia next door for that. beds are better in the tower vs garden rooms. Club level […] is a waste of money. I stay here an avg of 4 nights a month for the past 8 yrs so I know the property well. Mehr

This hotel is wonderful. The food is a little expensive but worth every penny. I was stuck there during hurricane "Irene" and felt safe and welcomed.

Everthing about the hotel was good untill the power went out and it took a couple of hours to come back on. I was on the 9 floor with no elevator.

Good location . Good facility . Very generous staff . You need to prepare yourself beforehand if planning to bring a guest in room .

It is the best!! I'm very pick about beds and pillows and they have the best ones. The breakfast buffet is good. It has a lot of parking in the back. the oly down side is that the bathrooms could use some updating. Overall Great!!

If you want to explore the capital. This is a great place to stay. Everything is close by and there are lots of sight seen in the area. I totally recommend.

The hotel is old and the people that stay there are shady. The casino is full of prositutes/conmen. I would not go back.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel.

From the outside looks like a 5 star hotel but inside the decor is from the 70s and the furniture and TVs are very old. i stayed in 2 different rooms in the main tower and I could not get a stable shower water temperature, this is a big problem because you will get scald. Very limited bathroom accessories, but the soap, shampoo and conditioner were […] good quality. The beds in this tower are very comfortable. Wifi Internet is $12 for 24hrs. The carpeting inside the rooms is disgusting. valet parking is $5 + tip. Dont get fooled into getting a room in the 2 story building behind the hotel, they don't have comfortable beds nor pillows. We stayed at the Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and it was great. The hotel is perfectly located and very high class. The cost for such a high class hotel was amazingly affordable. It probably cost us less to stay at this fancy hotel for a week than it would have cost us to stay at some fancy hotels in the US for a day. I've stayed at this Hotel/Casino many times over the last 5-6 years, and the service level I've received has always been excellent.

The Hotel is very convenience and clean. Has a very train staff my over all experience I can rated 4 Stars. They can earn the other star once they develop a complementary business center to facilitate one to one business meeting.

Even I got a confirmation whith Hotels.com They gave me the leftovers not the thing I paid for.

Great service. Great location. Restful atmosphere. We stayed in the two story building behind the main tower. It's older and needs some updating, but the room was very clean and of good size. Can't beat the price which included a more than adequate breakfast attended by an excellent friendly staff.

The Jaragua is a good hotel. it is safe and located close to many points of interest like the malecon and the shopping area "El Conde". Ive stayed there a few times so I'm familiar with the accomodations. I found the staff at the Jaragua to be friendly, helpful and well spoken. The rooms ive stayed in were very well sized and the beds were huge and […] comfortable. in fact the beds were my favorite part of the experience (something about those pillows.) although the experience did not exceed my expectations, i had a pleasant time. There is a nice casino in the lobby beside an unreasonably expensive "sports bar" named Champions. breakfast for my girlfriend and me cost something like $45US (outside of the hotel at a nice eatery a similar breakfast cost a lot less, about $12US). They Gym is decent with pretty nice modern and functioning cardio machines. the hotel gets very busy especially when there are guests sponsoring events in the auditoriums. its a very popular meeting place. the tower rooms seem a bit better than the garden rooms but the less expensive garden rooms aren't so bad. the worst part of my stay was that when i arrived at my room and opened the window, there was a very unattractive view of a rooftop and not much else. i could not see the ocean, the palm trees nor the surrounding grounds. i would definately ask for a room with a view if that is importanrt to you. This hotel is a good hotel overall. It's far from the beach but taxi drivers will hook you up no problem. Some of the service is kind of slow and the beds were kind of hard but everything else was good.

Nice place to stay, although paying for an upgrade to stay in the main tower was a little off-putting. They have an outside building where they keep the standard rooms. Rooms in the main tower are suites, not standard rooms. They had a great bar in hotel called Champions..servers were friendly and quick, American football was on the big screen TV. The […] casino was a little small, but live music was very entertaining. The king bed was big and comfortable, almost wanted to stay in it all day.. The buffet breakfast was decent. A guy cooks omelet eggs any way you like. Almost got charged for two days of WiFi so check your room bill before check-out. All in all not a bad experience. I'd probably stay there again. Mehr

The ceiling in the bathroom might need a little fixing but overall, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was big and it was clean. While it is not close to the beach, the taxis in front of the main entrance of the hotel are extremely expensive, they take only US dollars. Walking where the shops are (El Conde) and the colonial city is not as far as the hotel tells you. If you are in the mood to walk, it is a beautiful walk, maybe 25-30 minutes tops. The mini bar and the restaurant in the hotel are also quite expensive, but if you want to enjoy Santo Domingo, just walk around and you will find a beautiful and good place to eat. Mehr

The jaragua is a great hotel in that it is classy and comfortable. I visited the bar, the casino the restaurant and the paring area and felt both safe and secure. The tower rooms are very large and the beds are extremely comfortable with 6 oversized pillows. The showers work better than the ones in a lot of American hotels. I've stayed in the garden rooms as well and found them to be well kept. The downside is that they are very far from the front seaside area of the hotel with no remarkable view of anything.
