This hotel had a lot of exterior things that could have been better. There was an AC compressor that kept trying to start up and was making an awful noise in the stairwell. The elevator was really messy and smelled bad. Also, the ice machine was broken. It was just an old, unattractive building. Inside the room was not bad - fresh paint, clean room […] and nice shower. There was no hair dryer which most people expect these days and the soap smelled like cinnamon candy. The front desk clerk was very nice and helpful so that made it not so bad! Mehr

Got in late, checked in and got my keys. hauled my bags up to the room and found it a mess. besd un-made, lights on and food containers on the counter. Hauled my bags back down and told the counter person. Her response ¨are you sure the room is not ready¨? She informed me that the room had been held for me and that she could not believe that houskeeping […] did not clean it. No appology no concern just scribbled out the room number, ran new keys and gave me new keys so I could drag my bags back up again. Lack of interest, no personality. I was NOT impressed. Mehr

I recently spent two nights there. I would go there again as the motel is convenient to destinations in the surrounding towns and sites. Traveling in and out of Pittsburg was easy. The room was clean, and the price appropriate for the age of the hotel. There is so much to offer in the surrounding area that we didn't miss not having a continental breakfast […] available. A comfortable clean place to sleep was all we needed. The bath was a bit small, but still adequate. (Massachusetts resident) Mehr

If you want a clean hotel that allows pets, this one is good.

We did not arrive at the Inn until very late in the evening and couldn't have been more pleased as to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The attendant at the desk took us right up to our room and even went and got us extra hangers per my request. He showed us where everything was located and wished us a pleasant stay. The cleaning staff […] was superb. Our room was cleaned very well daily and supplies were replenished as well. The girls would always leave us cute little notes with happy faces on them. The Red Roof Inn outside Pittsburgh was great. It was, cheap, clean and comfortable- way better than expected. I didn't feel gross walking around the room without shoes one, which is saying something for a budget hotel. Maybe it's been recently renovated? Great stay.

All aspects of my stay were acceptable EXCEPT for the fact that there was a strange odor in the room. The room was clean, but the odor seemed to be coming from the floor. I could not sleep because of the odor, and I developed a headache. It is only for this reason that I would not recommend this motel.

We stayed overnight at the Red Roof Inn on our way from New Jersey to Michigan. It is reasonably priced, allows pets, is clean, and safe, everything I'm looking for in overnight accommodations.

i was given a smoking room and stinks of smoke though i requested for non smoking.. didnt feel secure at this hotel with family

The beds were not comfortable. The room was filthy, bathroom floor needed scrubbed . It was hard to control the room temperature. Front desk personnel were nice.

I was very pleased with the Red Roof Inn except that smoke woke me up @ 4:30AM from people smoking next door and it did not have an ATM machine. Neither did the next 2 hotels which I walked to @ 10:45PM on a Saturday night.

Booked a non smoking room & the room smelled like an ashtray. It was awful. Beds were lumpy & the pillows were bad as well. Bathrooms were very small but the smell of the room, the bed sheets, the curtains & everything else was just terrible. I probably have lung cancer after spending the night there & my clothes stunk the next day as well. If you have […] a problem with smoke, go elsewhere...... Mehr

My stay was very nice. Lots of stores and food very close. Prices were also very good. Not a place to stay for luxuries but a great stay for an over night clean comfy bed and nice service at a great rate. I would highly recommend to others and plan to stay again for my next Steelers game!!

Poor quality; room smelled; bed hard; AC loud

I might recommend this to others but a continental breakfast would be a great improvement.

We were extremely satisfied with the help at this hotel. Everything we asked for that was not already in the room was immediately available to us; ie. iron and board, etc. The room was more than we expected for the price.

We picked this place because we needed a low cost option since we're a large family and needed 2 rooms for 2 nights. Horrible experience. 1. Both rooms smelled like someone smoked in them all week and no one cleaned up the smell. We asked for another room, and got an even worse smelling room. Also, the family members that slept there keep scratching […] themselves and got a rash. Don't know if there were bed bugs, but will keep an eye out. 2. The AC is deliberately set to run at low speeds, so the only way to keep the room cool is to leave it on all day. If they did this for power savings, I think that's backward thinking because I have to run the AC while I'm not there to keep the room cool for my return at night! So much for energy conservation. 3. Dirty rooms. When I told a cleaning person that it smelled like cigarettes, her answer was "yes, we can't control what people do" and then she walked in and sprayed a little cleaning spray in 3 random areas and walked away. End result: We moved my parents to Hampton Inn across the street so they don't have to deal with the awful environment of this place. Don't get me wrong. The hotel staff and front desk were understanding, and did try to help, but the place is a total dump. Do yourself a favor, don't stay here! Mehr

I had specifically requested a non-smoking room, but my family and I were given a smoking room that was reeking with smell of tobacco. The carpet in the room appeared as though it has never been cleaned. The elevator leading to our floor was filthy with nauseating smell. The air conditioning unit was so noisy that often we could not hear each other […] clearly without shutting it down. No Red Roof Inn for me from now on! Mehr

We chose this hotel for a one night stay for our family of 6 (four children and my husband and I). It was reasonably priced (essential because we need two rooms to fit everyone into) and close to downtown attractions. The rooms were clean and fairly comfortable. The hotel was also pretty quiet. The hotel staff could use some friendliness training but […] served their purpose. The only complaint was that the bathroom was extremely tiny but otherwise we would definitely stay here again. Mehr

Though the hotel is at a convenient location, the linens, bed, pillow are not clean. I will not stay here again.

The location was convenient for getting into and out of the downtown area.

This is the second time now we have stayed at this hotel and again, they were cleaning the carpets. The first room they gave us had soaking wet carpet. We asked to be moved. They moved us to a room with damp carpet. The wetness caused such a stench in the room that it was about to make us lose our breath. We aired out the room (which they obviously […] had not) by keeping the door open and cranking the air. And the woman at the front desk was hideous. I won't stay here again. Mehr

The Staff was terrible and the one woman was surly and rude. Besides first checkking me into a room that was already occuppied, with PEOPLE. The second room needed a vacuuming and cleaning. The Bathroom was small and uncomfortable. Only nice feature, the bed was comfortable. Loud noisy other guests, mad the stay unpleasant. Have stayed at better locations […] with better accomadation, for less. Mehr

For a quick inexpensive stay, I would reccommend this hotel. It was clean, easy booking, and relatively comfortable. The beds were a little on the tough side and the water was not super hot for showers but other then that I couldn't complain. I stayed here one night and it was fine.

Red Roof Inn, Monroeville, PA was the perfect place if you just need a place to sleep. Easy access to the freeway, the room was clean and the bedding comfortable.

The night shift front desk person who checked us in was very helpful. The rooms were what you'd expect from a discount chain, but they were clean.

We wanted a cheap clean room for the night and that's what we got. Was surprised to find a microwave and refrigerator. Nothing spectacular but definately did not dissapoint.

The Red Roof was a reasonable room for a budget price. We had some minor incidents. 1st noticed, "custom bed linens" had holes in them. Heat in the room was too high and near impossible to adjust to a cooler setting. The first evening the light in the bath area blew out. Was not able to get fixed during our 3 days stay. Later, found a bug on the mirror […] frame. Turned out to be a harmless stink bug, but being from New York & enduring bed bug issues, it was almost enough to send us to the car. The final night, went to hang up towel on the bar behind the toilet & the towel bar come off the wall. We were begining to think we were being tested by the hotel gods. Sheets were clean, shower was hot & location was close to our family are the best things we can say about this hotel. Mehr

staff very friendly. Room condition good except one bed was sunken in and basically unusable. other bed fine for me. room very quiet and free wifi great.

Our stay was just needed as a place to sleep while visiting relatives for Thanksgiving. It was very clean and newly remodeled. Since we were not interested in entertainment, etc., we found it to be just fine. There were, in fact, lots of restaurants and shopping nearby, had we needed those.

Basic motel; convenient location off highway, close to restaurants; room did not have a hair dryer & could not get one by calling desk that day; not enough shampoo; cramped bathroom

Often, price and expediency demand sacrifices when selecting a hotel, as was the case in my experience. Please note that this hotel is quite out of the way of any of the major attractions in the Pittsburgh area. Additionally, if you are traveling in the morning it will take you an hour to get to the city center due to traffic that backs up from the […] Squirrel Hill tunnel despite the hotel being only 15 miles from the city. Everything else was as you would expect. Nothing exceptional but nothing that made the stay unpleasant either. However, my wife and I travel with our own pillows due to allergies and upon returning to the room, the cleaning staff had taken my wife's pillow inexplicably. The pillow was later found and returned but not before it was damaged when they washed it. Quite odd behavior that in the end cost us money because the pillow will soon need to be replaced. Mehr

We asked for rooms next to each other which at first we did not receive. Once we got the correct rooms, one had a bad odor. We went back to change rooms and at first we were told there were not any but then the found two. One of the first rooms we had had a refrigerator and microwave. The second set of rooms did not so we asked if we could have them […] in the new room. The Manager said it was OK but we later discovered the refrigerator did not work. Unbeknowst to us, the Inn was pet l freindly and there was a dog show in town so the Inn was filled with barking dogs. Mehr

Very convenient to Pittsburgh and the turnpike. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. No problems. I've stayed here many times and usually choose Red Roof when I come to Pittsburgh.

A noisy place which is understaffed and leaves much to be desired. It was cheap... but you only get what you pay for. Never again!!!
