Das Hotel Le Cloitre St Louis liegt innerhalb der Stadtmauern im historischen Stadtkern. Sämtliche Sehenswürdigkeiten sind bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen. Das Zimmer war sehr schön eingerichtet, Bad und Toilette sehr sauber und hochwertig ausgestattet.

Beste Lage, wunderschöner Bau. Man sollte aber unbedingt ein Zimmer im alten Gebäude verlangen - die sind wirklich sehr schön. Essen am Abend war ausgezeichnet und wirklich preiswert

We really enjoyed our stay here. I was nervous about it given some of the reviews, but we really had a great experience. The hotel is within a converted monastery within walking distance of all the sites in Avignon. The feeling of history permeates the whole hotel, from the central cloister to the domed former chapel tower. The shuttle to the TGV station […] is just 3 minutes walk. We found the staff to be very helpful with tourism tips. We had booked an "Exclusive Room" because we wanted to be in the old part of the hotel, and I'm glad we did. While the new wing certainly has some interesting architecture, it was a great experience to be in the spaces formerly occupied by the monastery. Opening the windows onto the birds in the central cloister was a refreshing way to start the morning. Our room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. The very sleek & modern bathroom was well-appointed with a bath and shower. The provided toiletries were from the local Fragonard perfumery and smelled amazing. The one drawback was the breakfast - the food was not refilled frequently enough (the response of the waitress to a complaint about the empty buffet was that 'people take too much'). You would think they would have figured out how much food they need by now. For the price we paid, we expected the buffet to be fully stocked. The restaurant is in a great location under the arches of the central cloistre, so I recommend eating here at least once just for that reason. Mehr

The hotel has the opportunity to be very stunning .... we found it to be understaffed and the rooms offered very few amenities, but was comfortable sleeping. It would be nice to have an extra mirror outside the bathroom, washcloths, bigger soaps. We knew one of the managers and he took very good care of us, but generally it is understaffed and no bartender […] in the bar. The center open area could be beautiful if it was cleaned up and had some flowers in pots or something...great potential! Mehr

I'd recommend this hotel, especially when used to hotels in the states or Canada, this is great for europe. Our room had actual shower and separate bath and had a view into the Cloitre. Location was a short walk to everything within the old center and palais des papes.

The hotel is just round the corner from the Post Office where the buses stop, including the shuttle to the TGV station. It's also just a 5 minute walk into the main square, so locationwise is perfect. The hotel itself is a lovely old building, and the rooms are well equipped. It can be a little noisy as with tiled floors the closing of doors and suchlike […] echos. Good English spoken at reception who are also very helpful. Pool area is nice but could do with more shade. Although Wifi only advertised as being in public areas we were able to pick up a decent signal in our room. Mehr

Cannot fault location and the building itself has lots going for it. We ended up with a very poor room - sloping celing and very little natural light. A large person would not fit into the shower although the mirrored tiling was of interest, I suspect there are great rooms in this hotel but booking last minute meant we didnt get one of them. This is a very basic hotel despite four star rating. While food services are there they are just OK and rooms are basically comfortable. Internet is slow in the evenings. Good location off the main street but approx 10 minutes walking to the Pope's Palace. Very good concierge service and lovely location in old cloister.

The Cloitre St. Louis was a good place for our recent (June 29-July 2) stay in Avignon. Checking in, the receptionist asked us to leave our bags in the lobby, in a big pile of bags that were not behind locked doors but just in a big pile in the middle of the lbby. A bit weird but we didn't mind, and when we came back five or six hours later to get checked […] in, the bags were just where we left them even though all the others had already been picked up. The receptionist gave us keys to our room but didn't accompany us to show it to us, which is common in many other places. But not a problem. Our room was facing a courtyard which was very pretty, and gave a peaceful atmosphere to our room; there was a little patio with shades, which gave a nice airflow through the room. We booked partly because the rooms were advertised as having a/c - which technically ours did but it was pretty useless. Luckily the breeze from the open patio was enough to keep us cool at night, even though temps had been in the 90s each day. Breakfast was good. Bed cozy, shower and bathroom very nice. Overall we really liked this place and would recommend it to anyone. Mehr

This hotel, situated in the wonderful Luberon valley, appears to be an old convent thhat has been converted to a hotel. The atmosphere is very institutional still with dreary corridors and very small rooms, perhaps the smallest bathroom I have been in. There are no elevators and plenty of stairs. The internet service was broken on the day we visited. […] If you are going to the Luberon, stay somewhere with more charm. Mehr

Very good standard hotel in ancient buildings, well located for important sites in Avignon. We enjoyed our stay & would happily visit again.

Inside the walls of the old city, this hotel is very convenient for seeing the sights but it is incredibly difficult to find if you are driving. The maps available showed one-way streets that in fact ran in the opposite direction once I got there. I did find it eventually and once inside, it is a lovely hotel built from an old cloister. My room was […] in the old part, looking out on the courtyard. There is also a wing of the hotel that is newly constructed and I heard some guests complaining about their room there as I was leaving (saying it was noisy and unattractive). Worth staying if you can stay in the old part of the hotel. Not so sure about the new part. Mehr

Beautiful hotel very tranquil spot within busy Avignon. Our room overlooked the garden and it was hard to believe we were in a city. The ambiance was lovely. We were disappointed to find that we had a room in the modern extension -this was not clear when we booked the room and we paid for a superior room. However the room itself was spotless and comfortable […] -there was air conditioning. The hotel had secure car parking which is a must if you are travelling by car. It was a little tricky to find when we first arrived -it would be useful if the website gave info on how to access. Staff were polite and helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent for sightseeing -no need to drive once you get there. We would go back for another visit. Mehr

Our stay was very pleasant. Had very nice dinner in hotel one night. Hotel is 2 blocks from regional train station which we took from Marseille Airport (45 min), vs. TGV train station, further away, reachable by a bus). Bought breakfast food and water at mini/City Carrefour 2 blocks down main street (next to McDonalds) and filled up mini on refrigerator, […] as hotel breakfast was EUR 16 per person. Hotel is off Avenue de la Republique. This main street starts to become seedy starting 6:00 pm. Several people did not recommend going out at dark. We ate earlier dinners at bistrots near hotel due to this. Lap pool on roof. Parts of hotel do not have access to an elevator. Had to lug our luggage up 18 stairs. Very charming hotel and would return again. Used Avignon as base to visit Aix-en-Provence via bus (1 1/4 hours); took a mini van tour to Les Baux, and St. Remy and Pont du Gard. Delightful hotel in a very quiet corner of Avignon. A 20 minute stroll to place des papes and just minutes to restaurants and shops. To splurge try Auberge de Cassagna (5 km by taxi) for a wonderful foodie experience-$$$.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel was two short blocks from the train station, inside the city walls, and a nice walk to all the city tourist spots. It was nice not having to rent a car or hail a taxi. The hotel was clean and friendly. The staff were courteous and the building itself, impressive.

The front desk staff was super nice. Food at the hotel was very good (breakfast buffet). rooms were spacious and clean, though tile flooring looked a little utilitarian. View to the courtyard of this 15th century building was beautiful.

Wanted to bust out for a nice hotel for our anniversary and were sadly disappointed. Nice hotel, but not a 4 star . . . no way. Great little courtyard area and lobby area was nice but that's where it ends. Hotel staff were unfriendly, the rooms reminded me of a college dorm room, the outside neighborhood was scary (no where to drop off bags, unpaved/gravel-dirt […] parking was around the back, woke up one morning to a some bums picking through garbage outside the hotel window...nice), breakfast was nothing special, they claimed the wireless internet (in the lobby only not available in the room) didn't work one of the days due to the rain outside (but yet their hard line internet worked fine at front desk). When visiting Provence, spend your extra cash on the food and activities . . . don't waste the dough on this place. How they got a 4 star rating is beyond me. A funny example is when we asked for a local walking map. They gave us a photo copy of something from a book with the smallest printing you can imagine. Couldn't they spring for something nicer that you could actually read? These guys just didn't get it . . . two or two and half stars only . . . sorry. Mehr

Having read the reviews on tripadviser we weren't sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. Stayed in the old part, room 126, a standard room which was large with a good sized bathroom (shower was a bit quirky), simple, clean, comfortable. The shutters rattled a little (the local wind, The Mistral, was blowing) but added to the character of […] the place and easily solved with a wedge of paper. Aircon was ok but may not be good enough for some people in the heat of the summer. Breakfast was ok and we didn't find it too expensive, £16 pp for as much as you wanted. Didn't eat in the restaurant because there were plenty of interesting places to eat close by. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Central Station and the shuttle bus to the main station are about two minutes walk away. Explored the area using the trains (e.g. day trip to Marseille) from the central station, easy, just make shore you stamp your ticket in the small yellow machines, before boarding. Would recommend this hotel and stay again if we are ever back in the area. Mehr

This is a very beautiful hotel with a less attractive but very comfortable added wing for additional rooms. The room was spacious even by U.S. standards. The hotel is within a very short walk from the downtown train station. Avis rents from this station, so it was especially easy. For 14 euros you can park in the Avis lot (a one minute walk to your […] hotel room) The staff were delightful. Food quite good. We had a winter stay so room temp was excellent. We stayed in room 11. I would book this hotel again without hesitation. Mehr

Love, love, love this hotel. Upgraded to deluxe room in the older section of the hotel - room was great. Yes it may appear a little asture but it was huge and very comfortable.

The hotel is unique, the beds and pillows were very comfortable, and the rooms spacious compared to other European hotels we've stayed in. The hotel is set back and a little tricky to find, but it is very quiet because of its location. The contemorary addition is interesting and we liked the "cool" decore there. All the newer rooms face the courtyard […] and you can access the view and the fresh air by opening the shutters. We got a peek at one of the rooms in the original section and it looked spacious as well. Mehr

The hotel is located in a 400 year old building that has served many purposes in its history. It is clean and modern furnished, but there are also obvious compromises made to its historic foundations. The room was comfortable but lacked a shower, and the windows had horrible slat shutters on them which blocked the view. The hotel is located 200 metres […] from the main rail station and 10 minutes by cab or bus from the TGV station. There are numerous brasseries, restaurants and shops within 5 minutes walk, and mostof this beautuful city's attractions can be walked to within 30 minutes. Mehr

Fortunately the weather was mild in late September. Also, my room on the mezzanine was near the delivery entrance. There was a large delivery at 3:30am.

We were very disappointed with the hotel for a number of reasons: 1.Our room was on the 3rd floor in the roofspace and the only operational lift was temperamental to say the least, and only worked when it felt like. No fun carrying bags up and down 3 flights of stairs!! 2. The air conditioning in our room was was a joke and was inadequate to deal with […] heat generated from being in the roof space, and stopped functioning all together at some point during the night . 3. It took 30 minutes to half fill the tiny bath due to the lack of water pressure. 4. The curtain for the roof light window did not cover the window and we were bathed in glorious sun light at 6:15am!! I would not stay in the hotel again despite the 4 star rating. Overpriced - the Kyriad Hotel Avignon TGV Gare was 1/3 the price and was way way better. Mehr

Very comfortable & conveinient

Overall, the location of the hotel was good and the accomodation met expectations. What I did not like was the quality of the hotel service was indifferent - not proactive or friendly.

Although we had a difficult time finding the hotel initially (our GPS did not have the address), when we checked in, the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful. We had been upgraded in room category and was given a large bright room. We thought the location was ideal, many restaurants and shopping just steps away. We enjoyed a delicious dinner […] at the hotel, the evening we arrived. All front desk people spoke English and were very helpful when we asked for information. Would go and stay again. Mehr

This hotel is beautiful, has a great restaurant, is right in the centre of Avignon but easily accessible by car and has friendly staff. The only thing that let it down was that there wasn't any airconditioning... and in the 40 degree C heat of August, that just didnt cut it.

As the Reverend replied, "there were good bits and bad bits." The good bits were that it's in a quiet location, near the station, but within the walls and very close to the electric bus stop ( 50c per ride, a bargain to get around) it's spacious with cloisters, there's a pool, the room was large, comfortable, a quirky converted attic with a staircase […] within your own room down to the ensuite below (though not great for anyone needing to er... "get up in the night") The bad bits ~ big problems with the plumbing, pricey car parking, very expensive breakfast, limited staff on duty to sort out problems. I don't think I'd go back there!! Mehr

Cadre majestueux admirablement mis en valeur par une très grande sobriété qui convient particulièrement. Les apports modernes sont également très simples et apportent tout le confort. Personnel en trop petit nombre, mais très aimable et compétent. Seul petit reproche, le manque de rangement dans les chambres. Une commode (noire) serait utile. indigne d'un 4* ! un réceptionniste peu aimable,une baignoire bordée de moisissures, un téléphone dans la chambre qui ne fonctionne pas, un room service qui oublie le pain ! seuls le cadre et le petit déjeuner étaient à la hauteur !

L'Hotel Le Cloitre St Louis est un bon hôtel pour y passer le weekend. Notre chambre était moyennement sympathique (pas de vue, ou sur un toit, chambre très sombre) mais idéalement situé au centre d'Avignon. Deux remarques: 1. l'hôtel est très mal indiqué lorsque vous arrivez en ville 2. le parking est payant 12.-euro la journée ce qui ne nous a pas […] du tout été indiqué à notre arrivée. Comme nous nous y sommes rendus en basse saison, le prix était correct. Mehr

Le design général de l'hôtel est une réussite mais toutes les chambres ne sont pas une réussite : la 124 a une mauvaise orientation sur les toits, la SDB est en mauvais état, et problème de chaleur insuportable pendant toute la nuit obligeant à dormir la fenêtre ouverte. Le restaurant est une merveille...

Très bel hôtel avec une situation géographique privilégiée mais un bémol: l'insonorisation des chambres qui n'est pas digne d'un établissement de ce standing

Cloître du XVII° merveilleusement restauré, mobilier moderne mais discret formant un cadre magnifique, calme et reposant. Personnel sympathique et compétant, mais insuffisant pour un 4 étoiles. Cependant c'est une adresse merveilleuse

Le cloitre St Louis: un havre de paix, de luxe sobre et de grand confort en plein centre ville. Efficacité et discrétion du personnel. Un lieu surprenant de beauté et d'histoire. Un grand parking a l'intérieur du cloitre. Et le top, en plein été: la piscine dominant les toits dAvignon. Un souhait: y retourner le plus tôt possible.
