Preis stimmt.
"Gut geeignet für Badeurlaub"
Badestrand, gut erreichbare Innenstadt

"Run down and no lighting at night"
My mom and I stayed here for a couple of days before the rest of our family flew into town. While the location is convenient, it is an extremely run down property. The pool has multiple orange cones placed around to avoid tripping over broken tiles. Pool chairs badly need replacement. The rooms were clean, with the exception of some stains on the linens. […] The parking was difficult in the evening. There is no restaurant so we had to go off property for all meals. The front lot fills up at night and you are subject to parking in the far back lot which is dimly lit with no security. The pathways were very dark which only added to our safety concerns. Overall, The staff was very friendly and do the best that they can with what the have to work with. This place needs a lot of TLC and falls into the category of you get less than you paid for. Mehr
"Good location"
This hotel is located at a very convenient location near the coconut market in kappa. Rooms are okay, nothing fancy but clean. Overall a good noise free, bug free, clean hotel.
It was close to my daughters home. She has a small house so my other daughter and I stayed in the hotel since she is disabled and needed the handicap room. It's too bad the restaurant was closed, we really enjoyed it during our past visits there. I am glad there was a special while we were there otherwise I would have had to look for a more reasonable […] hotel. All in all it was a nice visit at Kauai Sands. The front desk people were really friendly and helpful. Mehr
"good, cheap, central, convenient, on the beach"
it was great!
"Convenient but worn"
We spent 4 nights at the Kaui Sands and were perfectly happy with our semi-ocean-view room. The hotel is rather worn though with shabby beach furniture and tiles breaking off at the edge of the pool. All was clean, and we found it worth it for the price. Nice sunrise view from the beach. Ocean is too rough for swimming in this are.
"Great hotel"
I thought this hotel was great for the money! It was clean, great location, and the staff were very friendly! I would recommend anyone traveling with a family or even without to stay here!
"Sand is bad foundation for a hotel..."
Although we are strictly opposed to staying at the cheapest possible places (econolodge, budget inn, roach motel, etc) this place was in the perfect location and there isn't much else within the price range. Instead of the usual rants and raves, here is a simple guide to this place: Cons: - VERY run down; we thought it was an abandoned warehouse at […] first. - Shower towel = Pool towel = Beach towel = small white cheap towel - Un-swimmable ocean front; this is not a "play" beach. - Leaky toilets will cause occasional flushing or tank refilling in the night. - Beds are hard and uncomfortable. - Walls are thin, noises are loud. - Smoking is permitted; smoke and alcohol smell is everywhere. - Some locals live here and give you creepy stares. - Pool is run down; cones mark broken tile; lots of algae growth. - No on site restaurant. - Microwave in main office instead of room. - Still costs at least $20 more than it should. Pros : - Friendly and helpful staff. - Well kept lawn with blooming flowers and trees. - Great location in Kapa'a.. - Fridge, A/C, TV, and WiFi (paid) in room. - Microwave available (in office). - One of the cheapest places on the island, aside from Hostels. - There were no bugs (or things that eat bugs) when we stayed. - Neighboring hotels with good restaurants. - Neighboring tourist trap "Coconut Marketplace." If you can afford a few dozen more dollars a night, we suggest you look elsewhere (as we should have). But don't go over board on an expensive room. You should be spending most of your time exploring the island, not hanging out at the hotel! Mehr
"Great Value"
Although an older hotel, we found it to be clean & comfortable with all we needed. Right on the beach! Staff was friendly & helpful. Centrally located for easy access to all parts of the island.
"Kauai Sands Hotel"
This is a tired old hotel in desperate need of upgrading. It is in a great location on a lovely beach. It is cheap and is clean. The beds are hard bue the room has everything you need.
"Great Value"
This is a great place to stay, as long as you have reasonable expectations. The location is great, close to everything. Everything at the hotel and in the room is very old, but maintained and functioning. Uncomfortable beds, 13 inch tube TV, and maybe the oldest mini-fridge in existence, but all worked fine. At half the price of the next lowest accomodations […] in Kauai, it's a good deal. Mehr
"Sacred site very close to motel"
We were impressed with the grounds keeper, Simone who has worked there for years and the housekeepers were very friendly and found us to orient us to the motel. Although an older motel, the rooms and linens were comfortable and clean. There is a 'sacred site' just off the grounds and a beautiful beach walk that is very accessable. We would stay there […] again, and the location is great for reaching all South Beach and West locations. Mehr
"Great deal, as long as you're prepared"
Now that I've stayed at the Kauai Sands, I can see the reason why both positive and negative reviewers had their experience. Both are probably spot-on. On the positive side, the KS is right on the beach and it's an absolutely fabulous walk along the surf to other restaurants, bars, and hotels. We had an unforgettable walk our first night. Simply beautiful. […] Also, the rooms are quite pleasant-- dated, perhaps, but perfectly functional, even charming in a 50s kind of way. The staff were friendly and, well, local. The place definitely has a run-down feeling to it, but it's got character. We were out all day, so it was all we needed: a hot shower, a place to sleep. On the negative: we came back our first night to find our room had flooded! There was sand and towels on the floor and wet footprints. We went to the front desk and they swapped our rooms-- it was due to a water burst somewhere-- but considering it looked like someone had broken in and taken a shower, a note might have been nice. We were lucky in that nothing we had on the floor (bags and etc) got wet-- but they didn't, so OK. Also, the second morning there was no hot water. This also worked out OK, because we had taken a hot shower the night before, but if I hadn't I would have been pretty upset! They're trying hard. I think the place needs a lot of maintenance and I would hate to see it go away. We need budget options on the Garden Isle! I wish it could get a small renovation and stay affordable. I'm willing to sacrifice a little for something affordable. Aloha. Mehr
"Kauai Sands Hotel, Kauai, hawaii"
The Hotel is in a lovely beachside location, the rooms good and the staff very helpful. A car is essential to get around the Island, the hotel provides good free parking with nearby shops. We had a lovely holiday at a very reasonable price. We were lucky, the Hotel could dramatically increase it's prices with an small update! Thank you, Hotel
"It Works for the price paid"
Local family-owned; friendly folks run the place - it's your basic accommodations, no frills. Location is fabulous in a safe neighbourhood; close to 2 supermarkets and eating areas plus only 6 miles from airport. Has access to local buses too. Beach is nice too. The room is comfortable; clean beds and bathroom but you can tell it's getting into disrepair […] state. Swimming pool needs repairs - tiles on the surface are chipped, makes grabbning on a bit dodgy to avoid nips and cuts. Late check out at 1pm was convenient.. Only downside was wifi was not free. Mehr
"Kauai Sands - Coconut Coast Hotel"
While this hotel is close to Coconut Coast sights, it is showing many signs of age and little to no upkeep. Rust on the indoor metal stairways, carpets well beyond their useful life in the hallways, and hallways have far too little light. The location is great and this could be a terrific place once again with a great deal of maintenance.

"Good Enough"
This hotel works perfectly for someone who is on a budget but still wants to treat themselves to ocean front property. The rooms are very outdated but clean with maid service daily. Front desk was very friendly and accommodating. You'll find yourselves jealous by the quality of the properties surrounding you, but that is offset by knowing that they […] paid 4 times more than you did. DEFINITELY choose poolside if available. "Kauaii Sands Hotel Kauaii Hawaii."
Well, I have to admit I was a little afraid of what we were getting ourselves into by the reviews I had read, but we were very satisfied with the location of the hotel. You do get what you pay for, definitely needing some TLC, but the room is clean, location is great, and the price even better, and right on the beach. The staff was great, I would have […] no issues recommending this hotel to anyone. It definitely is dated and needs alot of work to bring it up to 5 star rating, but we had two rooms, and had a great time, the best buy in Kauaii. Mehr

"Recommended"
Nothing much in the neighborhood but greatly located overall (east coast); 20 min north of the (Lihue) airport, 1hr away from Na Pali coast up north, 1h15 away from Waimea Canyon viewpoints, 15 min away from the river.. => perfect for those who don't want to switch hotels every day. Easy (and free) parking, nice hotel beach, good internet connection, […] clean room, very affordable, nice location: recommended! Mehr
"Oldie but goodie"
Very clean, well maintained, staff nice and helpful. Location was convenient to all areas. Everything at the hotel and in the room functioned. Refrigerator only and no microwave or coffee pot. Located next to and within walking distance to shopping area and restaurants. Hotel was older but I certainly would stay there again and would recommend it to […] others. The price was right. Mehr
"great value"
Hotel staff is friendly and rooms are clean, but hotel is run down. BUt for the price it was perfect, has pool, was on the beach and near town. Biggest disappointment was no coffee - I found the closest place to get coffee was the Shell station a couple of blocks away or drive to McD's or Starbucks about a mile away
"Kauai Sands---adequate hotel on the beach"
The rooms were clean, spacious and reasonably well-ventilated. Bed was comfortable. Peek-a-boo view of ocean from the "Ocean View Room". No coffee available, no ice buckets, no lots of things, but a reasonable value for the money. Would stay there again for a short stay.
"Bare bones but clean!"
More like a motel than hotel and very outdated but fine if you are on a tight budget. Get the ocean view room so you can enjoy the sounds of the ocean.
"It is what it is"
It's cheap because of its condition. The carpet is old and smells musty, the mattresses are horrible. This place could be so much more with a rehab - it wouldn't even cost that much. Remove the musty smelling carpeting and put tile, put microwaves in all rooms, make obvious repairs and w/ a little paint and inexpensive decor, it could be so much better. […] That said, if you don't have much money - it's near the beach, and could be tolerated for a couple of days. Mehr
"Kauai Sands Hotel"
The location is good with beaches, shops and restaurants within a short walking distance. The room however had not been cleaned properly. You could see someone had thrown up on the side of the bed and the full floor carpet looked disgusting. I would never go in bare footed. It is a slightly overpriced but quiet budget hotel.
"Cost vs. benefit"
I look at most things in life in terms of cost vs. benefit. In this case, the price I paid to stay right on the beach in Kauai was incredible..... less than I would pay for a Motel 6 in the San Francisco Bay Area where I live. This hotel has clearly been around for a long time, and it has definitely seen better days; things were falling apart pretty […] much everywhere I looked. However, they're doing the very best they can with what they have, and the room was clean, there was hot water, and the bed was comfortable. Service was friendly and very helpful. The pool and grounds were sparkling. This hotel is the hotel version of that house you want to buy: the cheapest one in the nicest neighborhood you can afford. It's surrounded by very nice hotels in a very nice area, all of which are sitting on exactly the same beach as this one is, all with the same view. I loved getting up in the morning and walking the few steps to the beach to watch the sun come up, knowing that I was paying so much less for the experience than the people staying at the hotels next door. There were some issues, however. The curtains were white and sheer, so the room was light enough at night to write without turning on a light. My room overlooked the main entrance to the hotel lobby, so there was a lot of traffic noise. The air conditioner was incredibly loud, and sounded like a truck starting up every time the compressor kicked on. Between the light and the noise, I didn't have one good night's sleep. There were stains on both the bedroom and bathroom ceilings, and bathroom fixtures were variously broken, rusting, and/or pulling out of the wall. The room definitely needed paint, but it still felt clean, the sheets were clean, and there were plenty of clean towels. The soaps and shampoos were surprisingly nice, and the tub was more than long enough to stretch my legs out in (I'm 5'11".) There is no free wi-fi. I think it's $9/day, which sounded outrageous to me, but I can understand why they c Mehr
"Budget"
Kauai Sands is no-frills & past it's prime (you can feel that it once was a very nice resort hotel) but it works in a pinch.
"Decent for one night in between 4/5 stars"
We needed a hotel for one night before departing for the airport. We knew we would be arriving late and departing early so we wanted a budget hotel. This was fine for 1-2 nights if you are just looking for someplace just to sleep. The hotel staff were very nice. Pool and grounds aren't much, but again, we weren't looking for that. I would recommend […] asking for a room facing the pool. We were facing the parking lot and heard dogs barking from the houses behind, and people partying on their balconies. Mehr

"Great for the price."
I would defiantly stay at Kauai Sands again. The room was very clean and comfy and the staff was helpful and friendly. Its not fancy and new whatsoever but still clean. If you're going to spend most your time in your hotel while in Kauai I would choose a different place with more accommodations. But the rooms are defiantly worth the low price of rooms. […] Lot's of restaurants and shopping place's within short walking distance. Mehr
"Perfect!"
Just needed 1 night before our flight home. This was perfect---great location, right on the beach, clean and comfortable, super price, very friendly and helpful staff. We would stay here again and would consider staying longer. Lots of great shops and restaurants within walking distance at the Coconut Marketplace and many within a short drive.

"Kauai Sands - Nice view, retro room"
Postives: The hotel and rooms were fine, especially for the price. View was decent from 'Deluxe Ocean View Room'. The Staff was very friendly. Negatives: The restaurant is closed, and conveys an abandoned look to the motel Only one washing machine was working in the laundromat WiFi is not free, must buy through Shakanet Parking is cramped All in […] all, for the money this is a great place. You should be seeing Kauai instead of spending so much time in your room anyway! :) Mehr

"Adequate. Nothing Special"
This is our second stay at the hotel. The hotel could use an update and some renovations with everything being well worn and dated. It is bare bones when it comes to some of the extras--only a fridge, no coffee maker, no microwave, not even an ice bucket to get ice from the machine. I would have liked to do some laundry in their facility, but only one […] washer was working at the time. The staff was friendly, the bed comfortable enough, and the price in our budget. So, if you don't mind an outdated and bit rundown hotel, it's fine. If you want something more up to date with a few more amenities, go elsewhere. Mehr
