The Eliot Hotel - Boston

The room was nice enough, with marble bath and comfortable bed. It was small for 2 people, particularly the bathroom, but otherwise well appointed. The staff, while friendly, was not informed about directions to local sites, hours of operation and suggestions on where to eat. English was not their first language in many cases, and communication was […] not always easy. If you are familiar with Boston, this would not be a problem. We stayed at the hotel on a Sunday night as we had tickets for the Red Sox/Yankee night game on 8/7/11. The location was great, about a 10 minute walk to Fenway. The hotel itself was beautiful--very old world yet comfortable. We did have a small problem upon check-in whereas I had booked a room with 2 beds, but they gave us a king with pull-out. I asked […] to see room to determine if the pull-out was sleep-worthy for our 2 teenage girls, and if not, could we switch to the 2 double room? They did allow us to go check it out, but were told if we wanted another room, we would have to wait because they were not ready. We were about 2 hours early for check-in. We decided to keep the king room because the girls were fine with the pull-out--wonderful sheets and it was relatively comfortable. The rest of the room was beautiful--loved the separate sleeping area for us as we could each watch whatever we wanted on our tvs! The bathroom was beautiful--the 12:00 check out the next morning was fabulous as the game didn't end until about 12:40 am so we were able to sleep in. Very quiet in the hallways as well. All in all, great experience at The Eliot, would recommend it to everyone, and will go back. Mehr

Luxury hotel within walking distance of most of what makes Boston great. Much preferable to large hotels when attending meeting at Hynes. Luxurious to have living room particularly when traveling with others. Staff very courteous. Good hotels.com price stay possible and appreciated.

Hotel Eliot is in a great location especially if you are doing anything at the Hynes convention center. Older hotel with a bid of faded elegance but with good bones. It is nice to wake up in a hotel room that does not look so much like every other hotel room that you can't tell where you are. Marble bathrooms are a nice touch though the handicapped […] accessible shower flooded the floor if the bath mat was not in place to sop up the water. Turn down service with chocolates on your pillow a nice touch along with cookies when you check in. Definitely recommended if you want a hotel with personality. Mehr

My family just spent one week at the Eliot. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. We had a suite which was very comfortable. The bathroom could have been larger (we're a family of 4)... but it was all marble, so quite nice. I would have loved an in-room coffee maker, but Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are very nearby - or you can order room […] service. It's an easy walk to Fenway, MIT, great shopping and dining. There is a "T" stop very near also. I'd definitely stay there again. Wonderful hotel. Superb service. Mehr

The Eliot is pleasant enough, nice staff, but... bathroom the size of portalav, lousy Internet, slow room service. On the other hand, dogs are free, a rarity, and they upgraded us to a junior suite. But with nowhere to hang a wet towel (!!), Internet issues, and the slow room service, I'd hardly give it 5 stars.

Rooms sensibly designed to provide two separate, reasonably-sized spaces. Bedroom and living area very comfortable, well appointed. Beds extremely comfortable, and room was surprisingly quiet for being on the corner of two major city roads.. Convenient/safe to walk to Newbury Street, Public Gardens, Boston Common and beyond. Computer on desk a nice […] touch -- boarding pass feature did not work, but would be great to have if it did! Front desk was helpful with boarding passes and google maps as needed. Restaurants/bar pricey but friendly. Minibar a reasonable alternative. Wish we had known about this hotel when we had a student in Boston! Mehr

Nice hotel, very clean.... staff was outstanding! Comfortable bed, asked in advance for extra pillows, they were awaiting in my room. Easy walk to Fenway park for the Sox game, very easy walk to Newbury street for shopping and good restaraunts. Would absolutely stay here again!

I rarely write reviews but was so impressed by The Eliot's staff! I called a day ahead to request a room on the first few floors since I had a dog that couldn't ride in an elevator. Not only did they accommodate that request by putting us on the first floor - they upgraded us as well! That kind of service makes a huge difference.

Great service, really comfy bed, excellent location and quiet. We would stay there again in a minute!

Impressive hotel with old world charm and class. Room beautifully decorated but quite dark with window overlooking alley. Staff extremely courteous and attentive in fact so attentive over breakfast as to be almost intrusive. Valet parking an added plus. The Manager on duty felt so bad about a slight delay in retrieving our car on last day that he gave […] us a substantial discount on our hotel bill without any prior complaint from us ! Not a cheap hotel but certainly worth the money given the class, service and location. Would certainly stay again but would request a room on a higher floor. Mehr

Lovely hotel, close to many attractions and the staff was wonderful and accomodating.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are updated, with the exception of maybe the bathrooms. They are a bit small (no counter space for toiletries, towel rack in the shower) but reflect the ambience of an older hotel. Free internet access in-room via HP touchscreen monitors is a great thought, but I had continous problems with the […] touchscreen not being calibrated. I brought it to the attention of the front desk and was told they could take a look at it. They responded very quickly to my concern, but I honestly couldn't tell if they had done anything about calibrating it. A mouse and keyboard would have saved alot of time and frustration. Sometimes the latest in tech isn't the greatest for the concerns at hand. Touchscreens have their place, but maybe not in hotel rooms. Advised the hotel again upon checkout and they were very concerned and caring. Otherwise, a very nice hotel with very friendly staff and a nice, central location for shopping and sightseeing. Mehr

This hotel is an absolute gem and the staff including front desk, bellman, were very attentive and personable. They attended to my requests with graciousness and I would certainly return. Do not miss Deuxave which is a fabulous restaurant across the street.

Great location for visiting our student at Berklee College of Music. Service at the hotel is outstanding ! The restaurant was more fancy than we were prepared for but there are plenty of casual alternatives nearby. We'll be better prepared next time.

Hotel is quite well located close to Newbury St but far from the Common. The property is looking tired, room service is slow and the food did not arrive hot.

The Eliot Hotel is a beautiful hotel and the staff was extremely helpful. It is close to many shops, restaurants and attractions (river walk/fenway). Overall we had a great time. The hotel is convienent and the price was not bad for the location.

We had a very romantic saturday night at this boutique hotel.

What more can I say. I will stay here again and will recommend it to friends and family. I never write these reviews but I was impressed with The Eliot in every way.

I absolutely enjoyed every minute of my stay in this hotel. I have found my new favorite Boston hotel -- it's The Eliot Hotel! Conveniently located to many main roads, I also had no problem finding street parking every night on the same block. (They do have valet parking, but I'm thrifty.) At first, I was leery of a small hotel, because I prefer the bells & whistles of a large chain, but The Eliot is like a […] small 5-star hotel. --The room decor, the marble bathrooms, the nightly turn-down service with cookies or chocolates, the accommodating staff, the other clientele, etc. This was a fabulous find! It's also in great walking distance to Newbury Street and other shops. I highly recommend it! Mehr

Quiet, elegant, boutique hotel in the heart of Back Bay. Was a perfect "home" for our annual girls get-a-way!! We will be back. Add a coffee maker to the room and it will be perfect!! Loved the wet bar area!

Sweet little find very old world Euroish cozy, we liked it very much!

Beautiful hotel. Only problem: I paid $36 to valet my car, there was a big snowstorm, and in the morning the valet said "follow me" and led me through unplowed streets to the outdoor unplowed lot where my car was under a bank of snow. Wet socks and some serious brushing, digging, and sliding around followed. Took me 20 long minutes to fight my way out […] of the lot. For $36, they should find an indoor space on Newbury Street. The hotel itself is lovely, though, and the restaurant, Clio, is awesome. Mehr

The Eliot Hotel is a hidden jewel in the middle of downtown Boston! It might be a 4-star hotel but the staff and service and decor makes it a 5-star category hotel. It is worth every penny. We happen to stay on a quite weekend so the front desk, upon arrival, upgraded us to a suite!!! And if you happen to be someone who like to travel with your dog, […] the Eliot not only accomodates your pet but if you contact the main desk proir to arrival, they can even arrange pet-sitting! We ate at one of the two hotel restaurants - both Zagats rated - the UNI Bar and the sushi/sashimi was beyond a culinary's dream! Subtle, delightful tastes with a beautiful presentation. I would pick this hotel over the Taj. Ritz or Stanhope any day! Mehr

This was our first stay at the Eliot (we have stayed in several Boston hotels) and thought it was fabulous. We got an unexpected upgrade - due to room availability. Service was outstanding. Room and lobby were neat, clean, and very tastefully decorated. Location was great for Back Bay access. Fabulous conversation with bartender - who has been rated […] as one of the Best of Boston. I almost hate to say anything, because this is the best kept secret in Boston! We usually stay at the Taj or the Copley Plaza (we're from California, and we like the classic places). This little hotel is charming, hip, and user-friendly. It was immaculate--the kind of place where you don't get the sense that hundreds of people inhabited the same space […] and furniture before you did. The rooms are plush (nice linens, cozy furniture, feather pillows, duvet covers, etc.). The staff was awesome--very accommodating without being embarrassingly formal. I hesitated about the location, but it was terrific; two blocks from the Charles River and one block from Newbury Street. The restaurants are killer! Fantastic sushi--aside from terrific fish, get the steak that you cook on the hot rock at the table (don't ask)--it's great. The place feels like a trip back to another time (except for the computerized room service, valet, etc.). We'll stay there every time for now on (and we're VERY picky!). Mehr

This was by far the best hotel in Boston that I have ever stayed in. I came for a conference at the Hynes Convention Center, and the Eliot had exceeded my expectations. The rooms were very personal, spacious, clean, and very welcoming. The free gym passes to the Boston City Sports were terrific, too. I will absolutely stay at the Eliot again!

The Eliot is a lovely hotel. It is in a great location and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and spacious. It's a great deal for the money and the room service was good and the prices were reasonable.

Great hotel & great location. Would definitely stay again & recommended to others.

We love staying here every time we visit Boston. The location is ideal and the hotel has a wonderful, European charm.
