It was alright.

Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Rooms are a bit old and had a huge roach in it. Free breakfast in the morning consisted of cereal and danishes.

This hotel was reasonably priced, within walking distance of almost everything or at least to trolleys and the ferry! We reserved a Jr Suite w 2 queen beds. When I walked in the room, I first thought it was small, but when I turned the corner to what I thought was the bathroom, I was elated! I was in one of 2 rooms! The kids got a room to themselves […] and so did the adults. It was a wonderful surprise and I would gladly stay here again! Mehr

I loved it until the a/c in the first room started to make a clicking noise. Hotel staff was nice and shifted to a different room no xtra charge. Loved the location and closeness to the beach. will go there again when i get another chance

It just so happens I stayed at this hotel 9 years ago, and was very pleased and happy with the hotel, staff, and my stay. But a lot changes in a decade. First off, they do not use the front actual desk, unless very busy. You check in, one at a time, at a make shift booth. In our case a couple ahead of us was having issues, it wasn’t until 20 minutes […] late when I asked for a Manager that we checked in. In the lobby and especially the room my wife and I both noticed a strong “Odor?”, like a strong incense burning. It really got to you after a bit. In the room we had no clock, a microwave that didn’t work properly and the bathroom was cleaned haphazardly. We found Doritos chips on the floor and hair in the shower. We chose to shower at our sons. However, the kicker was the family we met in the elevator on our way out. Hearsay as it may be, this family was changing rooms because they had roaches in there bathroom and shower. Overall and everything else, I didn’t expect to be staying at the Ritz. But I did expect a nice well kept hotel for the money. Because of their downtown location, proximity to the beaches, USS Lexington, and restaurants, they can charge a pretty penny. That concept is well expected, however, you would think they could afford a simple paint job on the interior, more comforting rooms, and a hire a staff that actually cleans the rooms. Bottom line…I will not be a return guest; this place is not worth the money at any price. Mehr

My stay was okay. I was expecting more for what was paid. They didn't do anything "wrong" but didn't wow me. It was a lot older than I expected. I could have gotten more modern and up to date and been happier. So my stay was just okay.

The hotel is older, but it was very nice. Big rooms, lots of parking and great staff. They found keys and called to see if they were mine. Would stay here again.

Showed up at 2:15 to check in. Clerk - "Check in isn't until 3, but let me see if your room is ready... it says here your room is ready." Me - "Se can we go up?" Clerk - "No, check in isn't until 3." Feh. Other than that, it was a decent room considering the price.

I paid for seven rooms with a verbal guarantee that I would be allowed an early check in in one room. I was not allowed upon arrival so it was a waste of time o. Part to arrive there. The showers were filthy and dome with body hair. Breakfast was horrible and tasted expired. I'm sure the health department would fine that place I'm a heart beat! So  […] disgusting! Mehr

The room needed repairs. The shower curtain rod was loose. Wallpaper was falling down in the bathroom. The pass key batteries were dangling from wires near the doorknob. It is a dying hotel trying to squeeze the last bit of revenue from customers before going under.

After reading the reviews, we were afraid of staying here. However, It was not as bad as expected. The Hotel itself is in desperate need of renovations. The carpets, paint, air conditioning, television, and mattress in our room, specifically needed replacing. However, our room was clean and we did not see any bugs roaming around (as noted in previous […] reviews). It was a bit musty but once the air condition was allowed to work for a little this was fine. The staff was friendly and we were allowed to check in 2 hours early. The staff were even very kind when I called at 10 pm to ask them about closing the pool as there were some very loud guests and I needed to get up at 5am the next day. The parking was free and the staff were kind enough to let us leave our car there for a few extra hours once my husband checked out. Its location is very close to the Selena statue and sea wall. My husband did have the free breakfast and reports is was "fine". Just the basics such as toast and bagels. I did not use the pool but was able to see it very clearly as my room was 2 floors directly over the pool/swimming area. It looked very clean and well taken care of. I was only in the hotel 1 night (basically less than 12 hours) thus the reason for choosing this hotel. If I needed to stay any longer, I will most likely chosen another more modern hotel with better amenities. However, if you are a family looking for just the basics, near the sea, with a clean swimming pool, this would be your place. This is such an interesting hotel, I would like to see it completely renov ated. Mehr

We had a great time at the hotel. The location was close to the water and to sites such as the Texas Aquarium and the Lexinton ship. The hotel was clean the pool was great plenty of parking.

There was a musty smell throughout the entire hotel. Room was dated and dingy, beds were uncomfortable, bathroom had damage that was badly patched, there was no door on the hallway closet and no iron with the ironing board. It was very noisy the entire night as people partied downstairs in the bar area - you could hear everything despite the fact we […] were on the 7th floor because of the layout of the hotel and the lack of sound insulation in the walls. Service from the staff at the front desk as well as the breakfast options left a lot to be desired. We would never stay there again. Mehr

when my wife and I checked in, the lobby was hot...we walked into our room even hotter, we put our bags down on the bed and it was the worst...blankets were dirty, pillows had blood stains, there was white stains on the floor that appeared to be from a man and women (hmmm)...so i asked to be moved....so we were moved 1 room down, that room was even […] dirtier, blankets were dirty had a nasty butt stain on the comforter i pulled the sheets back and 2 bugs clawed out the pillows smelled like a mans cologne with hair on the pillow...so we were MOVED AGAIN...this room was ok, the AC made the loudest noise ever throughout the night it smelled.... WE WILL NEVER GO BACK...and you would think it would be ALLOT CLEANER because its centered around everything Mehr

If you're looking for a quality first rate hotel with amenities galore and top off the line service... stop reading and look somewhere else. If you want an affordable, decent place to sleep at nights. A place with the ideal location for easily WALKING to and (more importantly) from the best restaurants and night life in town... Then this is the place […] for you. At this hotel you can choose from the economy rooms that are certainly run-down, but as inexpensive as any room in town. For about 50% more you can choose the newly renovated suites with great views and as nice as any room in town. One of our Queen beds had not had the bedding changed from the previous occupant. It had hair and dirt on the sheets under the blankets. Front desk said the house keeping crew had gone and they could bring up new bedding, but we wood have to make the beds. The manager did come up and do it for us, but the bedding was for a king size bed, that was all […] they had availible. The tub was old and a large black stain about 18x18 inches andthere was a black ring around the toilet bowl. The motel is out dated and it doesn't look like they are putting any money back in to it. It could be a very good motel with a remodel . Much like all of down town. Corpus is missing out by m=not developing that area of there city. They should look to Kansas City's power & light district for direction. Mehr

The elevators had missing ceiling panels and one smelled like an rhino had broken wind. My smoke-free room smelled of revently cleansed smoke. By contrast, the staff was super nice and the location, in relation to the beach, was excellent.

The hotel was okay clean and comfortable. Night manager very friendly and polite wouldn't mind staying there again. Only thing I didn't like was the parking lot horrible but overall stay okay.

First room had no lights but quickly was able to get another room

Good location. Building is a little old and it kind of shows. Room was ok. Sinks are a little awkward. The view was nice. Other than that, probably not again.

when they opened the door to the room the band & dancing was in it was too loud , like wake you up loud and I needed to get up early the next day

I truly cannot believe how disgustingly filthy the rooms in this so called hotel are. This place should be condemned. Extremely overpriced for a raunchy motel feeling... Would have been better to have saved about 50 extra a night and have stayed in a motel... Would have probably been cleaner as well.

The location was nice but the hotel needs a serious face lift. Our tub was dirty, no batteries in remote, asked for batteries and they couldn't bring them cuz they had none. Parking garage messed up!! The pool was so so dirty. The fridge didn't even cool, the lampshade was stained & needed to be replaced. I could tell whoever owns it doesn't care about […] renovating it. The buildings around were boarded up and some were run down. Mehr

This hotel was close to where we wanted to be and with a 24 hour diner in the same building we always had a hot meal. The people there were very friendly. Our room was also very close to the vending machines and ice. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

not very friendly and staff not there by the front lobby. They do a very poor job about cleaning our room unless we pay extra. I also had a family emergency where I had to leave one day early and they would not give me credit. I had to pay for that night even though I was not there.

Well what can I say when we got there it seemed to be ok but there was a lot of school busses there and when my cousin asked where she could park since the school busses where taking up most of the parking. They told her to go to the parking garage where a Big Diesel truck does NOT fit. Then the guy has the nerve to tell her that she does fit but that […] if any happened to her truck they where not responsable. So she made her own parking near the busses. Then we are in our suite (remember that I said suite) the outlet that is to be used to turn on and off the lamps does not work. So we unplum them and move them to another outlet and low and behold it works. So we leave and go out for the night. When we return at 4 a.m. our keys to the room do not work. Luckly a friend was already in the room so she opened it for us. In the morning when we get up to take a shower we notice that there is only 3 towels for a room of 8 people. When we call down stairs they have the nerve to tell us that why where there 8 people in one room and that we would be getting a fine for that they sister in-law tells the man we are in a suite what do you mean getting fined. He drops it but then tells her that they do not deliver towels to the room so if we wanted to go down staris to get them or if not we just had to deal with what we had. sSo never the less we took a shower and and left very unsatisfied. The Hotel is in a very convenient location, we never even heard a siren during our 3 day stay. However the hotel is in serious need of remodeling. With remodeling this would be lovely place to stay. The carpet was vacumed except behind the bed stands. carpet could stand a very good steam cleaning at least. We stayed on the fifth floor and the outside […] windows were very dirty. The plaster above the shower had peeled spots. Price was very high for the quality of the room. Staff was kind.Breakfast ended at 9:00 am a little early compared to others. Parking garage had a hole in and was muddy even on the second level and you had to walk thru the mess to go back to the hotel, however there was a note apologizing for the mess and they were waiting for repairs. Lower public bathrooms are a mess and not in good repair at all. Mehr

I will NEVER again use Hotel.com to book a room. The hotel didnt let us check in until 5pm. Major inconvience. The hotel.com woman I spoke to assured me she would note for a 3pm check in. We arrived to Corpus at about noon. When it was 3 we tried to get out room and they went on and on about having to take it up with hotel.com for basically lying that […] their policy is check in at 5pm. When I made a big deal to my husband in front of the clerk and the tons of other guests in line to check in, the assistant manager threatened to call security for my language in front of "his guests." I was upset because at 5pm our reserved room still was not ready. How is someone going to tell another adult how to speak?! Although the assistant manager did get us another room, it still didnt make up for being all over Corpus with out children ALL day and unable to relax in our room til right before 6pm. The bathroom had roaches. The mattresses were hard as a rock. And the curtain to the window was blocking the air conditioning. It just wasnt for us. To each their own. Mehr
