Econo Lodge - Somerset

Me and the Mr weren't really thrilled. You could hear the doors slam outside your room often. The toilet in the bathroom was too close to the tub and lop-sided....What's up with that??? This hotel is really good for the price. Staff is helpful, the room was comfortable and spacious. They have a gym, and an unusually large indoor pool. it was pretty good, but I learned that next time I would need to rent a car. Without a car you practically cannot get anywhere, I had to call a taxi each time i wanted to go somewhere.

While the EconoLodge was clean and the room was adequate, it is right next door to a night club that gets lots of traffic. We were there to work the weekend and had to get up early every morning and be bright and pleasant for the public. That is impossible to do when you get NO SLEEP. The hallways were filled with loud obnoxious young people screaming, […] talking, running up and down, knocking on all the doors, etc until 5:30 in the morning both Friday and Saturday nights. We called the front desk three times and got no help. When my husband tried to take care of the problem himself, they sent security to our room to chastise him! In the morning we actually photographed people passed out on the public benches. Last time I knew, one had to pay to sleep over in a hotel. We will NEVER stay there again. Mehr

Hotel was very convenient off highway and room was large and very clean. Would definitely stay there again. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was poor. Pastries were not fresh.

The hotel itself was not bad, however, there was a group of about 20-25 young people (teens - 20's) who were yelling and screaming and running up and down the halls until about 5:00 AM. Repeated calls to the front desk produced no results. WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN.

For a great price, you get small breakfast, a comfortable and clean room, ESPN, a pool, hot tub and fitness center, free wireless, helpful front desk. This is definitely a good choice.

This Econo Lodge used to be a Quality Inn Hotel. I have stayed in this hotel over the last six years, for a nearby scientific conference. This hotel has a great swimming pool and gym, it is clean, and is conveniently located. The price is relatively low, however the hotel's furnishings are correspondingly old, but clean. Having stayed at higher end hotels in the same area, where the facilities weren't nearly as nice, I was quite pleased with my visit to the Econolodge. My sole complaint was that it was difficult to figure out where the entrance was when I tried to come in through a side route to avoid the highway issues in the area.

I was very happy with the hotel. Only 2 things got to me...1.) The inside to the curtain was ripped so my room got bright very early. 2.) The bathroom smelled like mildew but was clean. I was very happy I stayed there.

Awful.... frightening location... loud noisy, scary characters staying in hotel, gang activity and illicit trade going on, inside, outside and next door. UNSAFE place to stay!!!! Left this place at 10 30 p.m. to find a safe, quiet, clean hotel that same night.

We arrived late so unfortunately we did not get to use the gym or pool the hotel offered and we were disappointed because it was not the minimal gym hotels usually offer. A Late night so when we woke up, showered and went down for coffee the breakfast the hotel offers was already put away , breakfast closed at 9:30 and it was exactly on the dot when […] we went down. This hotel was very close to Rutgers where I was working for 3 days--VERY clean--good restaurant and bar--shared pool with health club. Recommended!!!

I have to say I was not really impressed, The Counter Rep was not really friendly. Our room frig was hot/and or broken. Our room was located way in the back, and there were strange folks just hanging out in the hallway, which was kind of unconfortable. I'm not sure if I would recommend this hotel even though it was reasonable in price.

Close to highway, very clean room, ironing board and hair dryer in room, standard coffee and danish in the morning. Good value, would stay there again.

While the hotel is -close- to the Garden State exhibition center, you'll probably need to add a car to your expenses. What the map don't show about the proximity is that the shortest road are car only and "shortcuts" require cutting through private properties and got no sidewalk. But that's just an annoyance for people like me who live in a public transportation […] friendly town :). The Value offered by the econolodge however remain indesputable : It's bellow a hundred dollar a room, and for that you got a very comfortable bedroom. Perfectly clean. Great service. The Front desk got great information and has always been able to help me with my request. Now a little downside of our stay is the maintenance, the elevator went out of service for a day, and the room telephone didn't work when I tried to call local numbers (which forced me to use my cellphone, while roaming it's quite an expense). Overall, despite the small inconvenience, I would still recommend this hotel and would probably book it next time I go to a convention there. The price of this hotel is worth it despite the inconvenience of the location, Great room and complementary breakfast. Nice staff Mehr

The staff was very sweet, rooms are very wonderful smelled great and very clean, pool is heated.

The Ecolodge hotel in Sommerset New Jersey is very clean. It is accesible right off the highway. I love the continental breakfast, and the heated indoor pool. Would recommend it for a short stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel this past weekend. It was a holiday weekend and when we got there we were told the pool closed early and the resturant/bar was closed (it was a Sunday night). Why this information was not listed on the website is beyond me. After getting there and wanting to use the pool while it was still open we had to go to […] the front dest for pool passes and towels. We also asked about an extra blanket for our room and was told they would ask housekeeping. The pool itself was decent but was shared since their gym/pool is part of a fitness club. Later on in the night we asked for extra towels and was told that housekeeping was gone for the night and so we wouldn't be getting them. The front staff (there was just one) was not helpful at all nor did he make any apologies for the lack of service. The hotel looks unkept in the hallways but the room was very nice. I will not be staying here again nor recommend this place to anyone else I know. Mehr

The hotel is very convenient to the Interstate, but it is easy to miss the turn from the access road. The attached restaurant was reserved for a party, but I was able to get some food in the bar.
