Wir möchten immer ein Zimmer zum Hof haben und nicht eines im angrenzenden Hotelgebäude. Ich habe deshalb schon die teurere Zimmerkategorie gebucht mit 2 Betten. Aber wie letztes Mal 10 Dollar Upgrade gezahlt. Aber dafür super freundlicher Service. Super Preis Leistungsverhälltnis für San Francisco und tolle lage zu Fuß 5-10Minuten zur Fisherman-Warf. Auch parken für 12 Dollar in San Francisco ,es sind es in den meisten anderen Hotels 25-50 Dollar.Jederzeit wieder.

Das Hotel liegt in der Geary St. ein paar Blocks vom Union Square. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im zweiten Stockwerk im Mittelgang, was den großen Vorteil hat, dass man den Straßenlärm nicht mitbekommt, sondern nur den gelegentlichen Lärm den andere Gäste verursachen. Die Zimmer haben nur ein kleines Fenster mit einem wenig schönen Ausblick auf den Innenhof. Das Continental Breakfast besteht aus Kaffee, Toast m. Butter u. Marmelade, O- bzw. Apfelsaft u. einem Stück Obst. Problematisch ist die Parkplatzsituation, da gleich vor der Haustür eine Bushaltestelle ist und ansonsten i.d.R. nur Parkplätze für Kurzparker vorhanden sind. Das Hotel bietet für 30 $ p. Tag einen Valetparkservice an, d.h. es kommt jemand u. parkt das Auto irgendwo, was sehr gut funktioniert hat. Das Hotel liegt zwar in der Nähe des Unionsquare aber auch sehr dicht am Tenderloin Bezirk, den man vor allem Nachts meiden sollte. Insgesamt kann ich das Hotel vom Preis - Leistungsverhältnis weiter empfehlen!

"Too Small and Very Loud"
My husband and I were recent guest's at The Hotel Mark Twain. When we got to our room we were surprised how small the rooms were. They have a radiator in each room that is VERY hot. I burned myself trying to shut it off. We had two young children with us and the thought of either one of them touching it was too much for us. "Easy choice"
I chose this hotel because I was attending a conference at the Hilton across the street. It was a nice hotel and the staff we very friendly. The WiFi was fast and easy to use. The room was comforatable and very clean. It is an old building and the shape of the room and closet is a bit strange, but it is well maintained. Our room faced the street so […] we could hear a fair amount of street noise, but I could sleep through that. "Not the best but not the worst"
The only real negatives were the surrounding neighborhood...bums, lots, just a street over. The hotel is a little older but the service was fine.

"Yuck"
Lobby area was fine and restaurant seemed nice, but as soon as I walked in my room I regretted my decision to stay at this hotel. There are spaces between the floor and the wall. The carpet and furniture is very old and worn. The bed was hard as a rock and I wouldn't be surprised if they had bed bugs. "Hotel Mark Twain - San Francisco"
The room was very nice and in a great location, the only problem was the maintenance going on starting at around 6:30 am which was done on the weekend and during the holidays. Very frustrating and distracting. I could understand it happening during the week, but really, Sunday morning. Only reason I would not stay there again

"Not a 3* hotel"
Service was good. Front desk staff, excellent! Rooms were outdated, Heating system very noisy, thin wall, could ear people flush the toilet. I would not recommend this hotel, sorry.
"Worst experience I have ever had"
This truly was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Well you might enjoy it if you like sleeping with pillows over your head all night. Not only are the walls paper thin that you hear everyones conversation in the other rooms but also on the street. The rooms phone was broken so I couldn't even call the front desk. Which would not even helped […] probably because they were very unfriendly and not helpful. I was also not impressed at all with the cleanliness if that's what you call it. I would never recommend staying here. Was not worth my money. Mehr

"Good location."
Good location just a few blocks from Union Square, hidden away a little with no fanfare but it's a solid Hotel which if you can get it for a reasonable price is recommended. You can tell it's going to need a refresh in a few years but for now it's a solid option for a few days in S.F.

I've stayed here a couple times. The location is decent, but sort of on the edge of the tenderloin, so the neighborhood gets sketchy within a few blocks. The hotel itself is decent, but nothing to write home about. It's definitely older feeling. Walking distance to Union Square, the Cable Car, Bart and multiple MUNI stops! 1. Women, try not to stay here by yourself as the surrounding neighborhood to the West and South is questionable during the evening. 2. If you plan on sleeping in it most likely will not happen as you can hear the plumbing of any adjacent room. 3. If you need a large bathroom, […] this is not the spot for you as this is a refurbished historical building. 4. There is nothing wrong with the size of the rooms, or comfort of the space. 5. The staff are very kind and accommodating. 6. If you are flying the hotel can arrange for a shuttle to pick you up and take you to whichever airport needed for a nominal fee. very old room , lots of noise . could not sleep because of the heater noise and next room noise. bad smell in the rooms and hallways. the only good thing in this hotel was the front desk personal. they were very nice but they did not have any better room to give us. the owner of this hotel should do a major renovation because the location is ok but […] the hotel is old. should be downgrade it to 2 star. will not stay there again. Pro: Hotel is located very close to union square and bart/muni station. Yummy breakfast and lunch place next door. Con: Service was just ok. Front desk staff not very willing or helpful. Location is on the border of a rough neighborhood.

For the money, not a terrible deal relative to other opportunities in the area at the time i booked. That said, and having stayed in a number of other hotels in the area, I would likely spend a little more and stay elsewhere. Thin walls and doors led to very noisy evenings, the workout facilities were very small and equipment substandard, the single […] elevator is very small and very slow, a little too close to the dicey Tenderloin area for me and the older man outside a few yards away smoking a crack pipe and yelling at me that i was a "dog of sat*n" didn't give me the warm and cozy's. i booked this room 2 weeks before New Years Eve. THe photos made this hotel look very nice and well presented. However when we arrived the hotel was not a bright and clean as the pictures showed. Our room was nice enough but the lights in the bathroom keep turning off and on, the walls were a bit thin and we could hear the other guests partying and […] showering and such. The elevator was super tiny fitting max 3 people with luggage. I wont stay here again but it works if its all thats open. Mehr
"Good price in a good location"
The staff was friendly and worked hard. It was basically an old building in a good location. Everything was perfectly adequate, it just wasn't shiny and new. It was a good value.

Walking distance to theaters, shopping, bars, bart, restaurants.... Hotel room was small, but sufficient, clean and comfortable. Hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful! They didn't just give us directions to places, they printed out maps, suggested restaurants and printed out reviews for each one. We will definetly go back!

"Good hotel, sketchy neighborhood"
The hotel staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The hotel is older, but the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms, while small, have everything you need. I did feel creeped out a couple of times walking through the neighborhood at night, though.

i was quite surprised by the hotel as the prior reviews remarked that the location was ideal. there are many more hotels closer to Union Square and far from the cautious atmosphere of the neighborhood. walking at night is not an option as we were approached by many individuals who made us feel uncomfortable. the hotel staff is extremely helpful and […] accomodating but our room had noisy radiator, broken hairdryer and slow draining sink/showers. we moved a few blocks and found a great hotel at the same price without the above problems or the dangerous neighborhood. "Recomendable"
It is only 5 mins from Powel street but if you ask for a room facing the inner yard, you can forget you are in the center of the city. The staff was kind and informative. The hotel amenity was sufficient. The quality of the hotel is very good for the price if only the carpet look more cleaner.

I walked into this hotel and was disgusted. I literally walked into the room and left. HORRIBLE! This hotel was dirty beyond cleaning. Luckily, there was vacancy across the street.

"On the borderline"
Located on the border of the financial/shopping area and Tenderloin with 2 homeless shelters within a block of the hotel. Kind of sketchy to be walking at night. Clean rooms, great service juxtaposed with tiny elevator and having to listen for toilet flush to avoid being scalded in the shower. Would consider but would probably not be a first choice […] . Mehr
