Princess Royale Hotel & Conference Center - Ocean City

We stayed for 2011 New Year. We had a very nice time and only left the hotel once to go to the Candy Kitchen. We ate at the Scooners bar and restaurant which was very good. Rooms were clean and spacious. The only thing we were a bit dissapointed in was the indoor pool was pretty chilly. Other than that, we loved it.

we stayed 3 nights and had a nice time. the room was clean and the king size bed was very nice. We had a lcd tv in the bedroom but only a regular tv in the living room. the amount of free channels was very limited. the funiture in the living room is in great need of replacement. it is old and not comfortable. we changed our room off of the 2nd floor […] because their was a lot of noise from kids and the smell from the pool area was very strong. the food there was ok but very over priced. every person that was working there was very nice and helpful. with upgraded rooms and new carpet in the halls this would be the top hotel it was when it was new. During check in the hotel had not given us an ocean view room as booked. The change was made, but not in an agreeable manner. The supervisor seemed upset that we had booked through hotels.com. Should have been better coordinated.

Absolutely serene!!!!! The tempurpedic beds were so comfortable we didn't want to get up in the mornings! Even though we didn't get a chance to stay in a full ocean front view room the side view was still gorgeous! Having a kitchenette was ideal because we were able to prepare our own meals in the comfort of our own suite! We're definitely coming back […] and would recommend the Princess Royalle to others! I was on a business trip. I am picky about where I stay especially at a beach location since I am allergic to mold. So I opted for a much more expensive hotel. There was no sign of mold or mildew but when I pulled back my blanket what i saw totally grossed me out!!!!! There was a good amount of male DNA!!! Let's call it bodily fluids. You could tell […] the aheets were washed and recently replaced. I took a picture and showed the front desk. The women working there named Lauren said after I asked her what she would say if she saw that replied I can't say what I would say. They sent up housekeeping and replaced the sheets but here is my concern. If their washing machines could not get these clean what else am I missing that I can't see. Do not stay there. Who knows what lives in those sheets. Maybe it's time to get new washing machines Mehr

Great place to stay for a romantic get away clean and comfortable peaceful room

My three kids and I came during the off season in later October- it was great. We got upgraded to an ocean front room that was super clean. The rooms are all suits with full refrigerators, stove tops, and microwaves . Everything is updated and perfect for kids. Right on the beach and an indoor pool- very nice and a great time!

We loved our stay there. The resort was highly rated for good reason. We would deffinately stay there again.

The room had a king size Tempur-pedic bed! Needless to say I slept great. However the room's decor was lost in the 80's and the shower-head was broken, making the water pressure weak. If the hotel updated the lobby, hallways and rooms I'd give it 5 out of 5. Instead, I only give it a 3.5 because of the bed!

The hotel was exactly as advertised, though we didn't see much of the property other than the front desk and our room. We had an ocean view king size room, and the view was fantastic. The balcony was huge, and the bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept in at a hotel. We have a tempurpedic mattress at home, so it was really nice to have the some […] comfort in a mattress while on vacation. I would highly recommend this hotel. It's two blocks from Bull on the Beach, which is a place we eat at each time we go to OC, so the location was perfect for us. It also allowed us to be away from all of the hustle and bustle of the inlet area. Mehr

The room was great. It was very large an had an awesome kitchenette. The staff was friendly. Atrium/pool area very nice. Would stay here again. The negatives were few. Temperpedic mattress a lil stiff for my liking. Balcony very small. Lobby store overpriced for a hot chocolate. Hotel Restaurant pricey.

I and 2 college friends stayed here for 3 days for a girls weekend away. The hotel was pretty nice and the staff were very nice and helpful. Rooms and halls were clean but outdated. Room was a suite with a kitchenette which was very nice with 3 people (insomniacs and early risers didn't bother everyone). Nice big indoor pool with hot tubs. We had a […] room facing the pool and while that wasn't terrible I didn't like not having a view to the outside world (i.e. knowing the temp, how sunny/rainy it was)...also missed being able to hear the surf. All in all though it was a nice stay and i would recommend the hotel to others. Mehr

My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights in mid September. Overall very satisfied with our stay. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Hotel bartender even taught girlfriend how to play Keno! When we arrived at our hotel it was alot older than it looked on the internet. They offer us an up grade on our room with out asking. I was thrilled, But to my complete utter disappointment their upgrade felt like I was being pounished. they took us to the 2nd floor and then to the 1st floor around the basement to a hallway where I could see the inside […] of the garage. the smell was old and musty. Than to my surprise we had ocean view, but you had to look around the boarded small bar right outside our room and dunes that were so high you might catch a glimpse of a wave .the small patio I was standing on barely had room to turn becauce we had to remove the debri,( a broken screen from a window some where, dirt, leaves, chairs that were upside down and a railing you were afaid to touch becauce it was so rusty and chip. I just walked back inside and could not belive our luck. Than the room was so hot we decided to turn on the air conditoner and found out our air conditoner was broken. some light bulbs were not working. Now if you really want to do bussiness with the hotal again maybe you should try staying here first. Our friends why also booked their rooms here were also not happy paid the front dish clerk 40.00 to move thier rooms . She took the money and said sorry cant help right now but maybe tommorrow. Mehr

We only stayed for 2 days. If you can get past the very dated lobby and disgusting carpeting in the hallways, the rooms have been renovated and they have tempurpedic mattresses which give you the best sleep that we have ever had in any hotel. I would also suggest that they remove all the game tables from the pool area and place them in a separate play […] room and make the pool area a bit classier - because it is a nice indoor pool. The Hotel was excellent, it's located on the beach, the swimming pool is large and clean. The bed was very comfortable, the surroundings were quiet, it takes 15 minutes to drive to the Boardwalk and 20 minutes to the Casino. We also had a kichenette in the room so we ate breakfast, we went out to eat rather than eat at thre hotel. We enjoyed our stay […] and will plan to go back. Mehr

Loved it. Plan to stay there from now on for our yearly visit. Decor was a little dated, but understand the choices to accommodate wear and tear. Our room was absolutely spotless and the bed - was actually the most comfortable one I've ever slept in. Wasn't thrilled to get side pool view instead of the side ocean view, but did not hear a thing once […] the sliding doors were closed. Loved, loved, loved the two separate rooms in a standard suite. Was able to get up, shut the bedroom door, and make coffee and watch the news in the living area without waking bf. Found the direct elevator straight to the beach and did not have to wait for it. Outside area is lovely in the back with palm trees, bar, lounge chairs, etc...- convenient in the front with the parking garage right there, along with the bus stop. Have to agree that the breakfast buffet was awful, tho'. Dry and hard. But there's a great place for a bite to eat anytime right next door. Staff were polite and we enjoyed our time there very much. What a pleasant experience our stay at the Princess Royale was! I've gone to Ocean City at least once a year for every year of my life (and that's a lot of years!) From the minute we pulled up to the hotel the employees from the bellmen to the front desk to the housekeeping staff were so very accommodating and helpful. The room was very clean and well […] maintained. the hotel had all of the ammenities we needed and the atrium was delightful. Only downside was the breakfast buffet. Definitely not worth the money. We passed on the seafood buffet because we were so disappointed with breakfast. Lots of good places to eat within walking distance of the hotel so we really weren't that upset. We really enjoyed our stay at the Princess Royale in Ocean City. We thought the staff was exceptional and the proximity to the beach was perfect. We were a little disappointed that the pool was indoors as we would have preferred one that was outdoors. We also found the hotel to be very outdated. I think the hotel would benefit greatly if they underwent […] a renovation in design and style as it seemed as though the hotel hasn't done any renovations in the past 30 years. We didn't mind the location because we weren't interested in going to the boardwalk but if you did want the boardwalk I would suggest booking a hotel in closer proximity. Have stayed here many times. The hotel is an older property and is pretty well maintained. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The housekeeping staff is on point as is the bell service. The front desk staff level of professionalism is variable at best. I have often seen issues with getting the exact room reserved. I have seen the staff upgrade rooms […] when possible when these hiccups have occured. There are many good restaurants, stores and grocery store located within walking distance. I would give this hotel 3 & a half stars. Mehr

Very disappointed. I have been to Ocean City many times and never have i been so unhappy. First i had reserved a partial ocean view and they gave me a pool view with no balcony and they wouldn't change my room because they were sold out. Then our bathroom constantly had a smell of rancid urine. The hotel hasnt been updated in approximately 20 years […] if that so all of the furniture, appliances, bathrooms, floors, carpets were very old and worn down. The shower tiles had a film of some sort on it which could be wiped away with a towel but yet the cleaning lady didn't even seem to try. Pool was nice since it was closed in and great if it rains that you could still be in the pool but problem is that there is no ventilation system in the Atrium so it feels very hot, stuffy, and the smell of Chlorine fills the air. The hotel which should be better called a Motel looked nice from the outside, sufficient parking, on the beach location, but for the priced that i paid for 4 nights i deserved alot better than what i got. I could have gone to a five star resort all inclusive in an island for what i paid for this place. I was expecting to be wowed since this place is one of few that was a 3 star hotel but i can tell you that there are hotels/motels in Ocean city for alot less than this and alot cleaner and nicer. This was the first opportunity my husband and i visited Ocean City together. So glad we chose the Princess Royale Hotel for our stay. We very pleased with the hotel. The only issue we had was the business center where we tried to use their computer to get on internet. Even after a very nice staff person came to assist us, by the time she left we still […] were not successful in getting on-line, even though we were charged $12 through the connectio with a third party. Suite layout, hotel location, and staff were very good. Bathroom was not clean, with ugly signs of mold in the shower. Not a 3 star hotel in my opinion and the price was way too high for the quality of the hotel. Unfortunately, it was the best I thought I could do with short notice... Would not go back.

The AC duct from the upper floor was noisy finally told them and the ac of my room leaked water and for some reason I felt the room shaking twice...I could not sleep for two nights.....but the rest was wonderful. The food at the restaurant for breakfast was awfull sorry

Good location, very nice overall.

First off we had a good time in Ocean City, had been ten years and was much cleaner and the beach was great. The hotel was just ok, room was clean for an older hotel, service was fair and beach was easy to get too. Elevators are sloww, tv picture was poor and overall the room seemed a bit overpriced. The hotel is definitely a 3 star experience, not more. The customer service is average. the hotel is old and dated. the ceilings are low and the rooms are dark and claustrophobic. I did love the bed and mattress. The fitted sheet was a nice quality but the cover sheet was low quality. I was very dissappointed that you cannot buy movies on the TV. We checked into the hotel. Went to our room and it smelled like a dead body had been there for days. I immediately called the front desk and they gave us a new room. So you mean when they claned the room no one smelle the horific odor. It was so over powering? The rest of our complaints - they never refilled the toilet paper or kleenex. I ordered towels […] one afternoon and only waited 2 hours. There is a smell of cheap cleaning products that you smell throughout the entire hotel. Mehr

We had not been to O.C. in many years. The Princess Royale is an overpriced, slightly run down beach hotel probably typical of the area. We enjoyed our stay very much. O.C. really needs a few better places to eat!

Location and staff was great, but hotel needs a whole lots of updates. A WHOLE LOTS...

Overall, my college friends and I enjoyed our stay. The hotel had great service. Our room was cleaned daily and very well, and although most of the workers couldn't speak English, they were friendly. The hotel was right on the beach, so it was convenient to begin the day there. The only negative thing that I can think of is that it was a decent drive […] to the boardwalk. However, if you're trying to get away to spend some time on the beach at a fair price for a great hotel, I would suggest the Princess Royale Hotel. Mehr

My husband and I recently stayed at the Princess Royale for a long weekend. We loved the waterfront location, waitress service on the beach (for food & nonalcoholic drinks), indoor pool and jacuzzis. We also loved the kitchenette and temperpedic bed--we slept like babies! The only downside was the somewhat dated decor (very clean, but very 80s). Overall […] we would recommend this hotel to friends and would stay here again, but most likely in a non-pool view room as the chlorine smell makes it inconvenient to have the balcony door open or sit on the balcony for any length of time. I really enjoyed this hotel's location, right on the beach. Umbrella/chair service and outdoor bars right outside. Tempur-pedic beds were a pleasant surprise, very comfortable. We stayed on a weekend and it was still quiet at night, very family friendly.

Not a bad place but kind of getting outdated. If you looking to be close to the action this is not the place for you. Boardwalk is a couple miles away. Very close to the beach which is nice. The pools is pretty nice and so is the patio outside. There was live music everyday which was nice.

Hotel was nice, food was good, beach was beautiful. Enjoyed the comedy club and the seafood buffet was really reasonable. Room appeared to be updated and was very clean. Loved the Tempur-pedic mattress. Best of all, the staff went above-and-beyond for us. I accidentally left two cellphones in the drawer when we checked out, and I didn't realize it until […] we were 2 hours away. I called hotel and the front desk manager herself, Martesha, checked with housekeeping and found my phones. She arranged to package them and have them ready so I could have Fedex pick them up and deliver them to me. She emailed me to let me know when the shipment went out. She even emailed me again later to make sure I had received them okay. This is incredible when I consider how many guests they have and how busy they are. I give the staff 5 stars for taking care of us. I'll recommend the Princess Royale to everyone. We were celebrating out anniversary there and it was a very relaxing, fun and enjoyable weekend for my wife and I. Will definitely go there again. Mehr

this hotel is a flea bag. the rooms smelled, parking is terrable. stay somewhere else, spend the extra money to be at a nicer hotel.

We just returned from a three night stay at the Princess. While the room was clean, the hotel overall is need of a serious update. Exterior, carpets, and furniture were seriously worn/dated. The pool was in need of a major cleaning. It appeared that some residents of Ocean City were walking in and using the pool and hot tubs (hotel should ask to see […] room keys upon entry). Customer service was good - both at the main counter for check-in, as well as in the shops. The hotel is right on the beach, so that was convenient. However, you are at least a 15-20 minute drive from the Boardwalk and I didn't see any bus/train as some reviewers noted. I am rating this a 3 since our room was clean, customer service was fine, and we were right on the beach. Mehr
