A Victory Inn - West Dearborn - Dearborn

Als ich an dem Hotel angekommen bin, hatte ich leider das Pech, dass eine sehr unfreundliche und schnippische Frau an der Rezeption saß. Auf jede Frage, die ich stellte, die sie eigentlich von sich aus mir hätte sagen müssen, kam nur eine knappe und pampige Antwort. Aber der knaller war, als ich sie gefragt hatte, ob ich den Pool JETZT benutzen kann […] und sie meinte "yes". Ich zurück aufs Hotelzimmer, meine Badesachen angezogen, wieder vor zum Pool...meinte sie von wegen ich kann den Pool nicht benutzen. "I ask you some minutes ago und you said yes" "No, I didn´t" WHAT??? Mir dreist ins Gesicht lügen??! Es ging nicht nur mir so, auch andere Gäste sind kopfschüttelnd auf der Lobby gelaufen. Und das mit dem Pool war nur eine von vielen Vorkommnissen an diesem Abend. Dementsprechend war an diesem Abend meine Laune. Allerdings waren die nächsten zwei Tage zwei nette und sehr hilfsbereite Herren da, die das Ruder noch ein Mal herumgerissen haben. Ich hatte blöderweise auch noch ein Raucherzimmer bekommen. Aber abgesehen von dem Raucherzimmer (was ansich nett ausgestattet war) und der unfähigen Rezeptionistin, hatte ich ein schönes verlängertes Wochenende in Detroit-Dearborn. Mehr

A bit outdated, but very clean and comfortable. Located very close to many, many restaurants and stores, so it's not a problem finding anything you need on your trip.

The ice machine did not work, there was a hair on a bath towel and a small clump of hair in the shower, loud thumping music at all hours up and down the street, shady characters in the second building, the pool was closed down, and the front desk attendant had little comprehension of English when asked questions. The only positive things were the outgoing […] clerk put us in a room next to the lobby and how close the hotel was to the Ford Museum. But I wouldn't want to stay there for any other reasons. People are smoking in non-smoking building (out in the hallway) so my room smelled awful. There was a bug in the restroom, and stains on the walls. I only needed to use the room to get ready for the business event, so I am glad I didn't have to stay there over night. Towel, soap and coffee supplies […] were okay. It was not terrible, but I would say the price should be more like $45. Mehr

I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past years. It has gone down hill. First they told me my reservation had been canceled. And told me I must have called in to cancel it. I did not call in, and I did not cancel. Had just made the reservation the day before. Only had one set of towels and wash clothes in the room. When I called to get more. […] She told me to come to the front desk and get them. When I went to shower I saw that the wash was not clean. Went back and she gives me a hand towel for a wash cloth saying they didn't have anymore wash cloths. Went to breakfast at 9:15 am, nothing there but waffles, danish and cold cereal. Mehr

We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay while visiting family, and it truly was inexpensive no frills, but comfortable bed. Looking at other peoples comments and complaints I wondered what they were expecting for the money. We got better than we paid for, paid a lot more other places and got much worse.

Overall the wife and I were very happy with our stay here. The room was clean though it could use some updating (still has an old tube style tv and sheets and such were starting to show their age). The jacuzzi was nice and conveniently located in the room so you could watch tv while soaking. The breakfast supposedly offered was non-existant when I visited […] the lobby at 9:45am but the hotel is located next door to a Tim Hortons and not far from some restraunts and such. We ordered pizza from the pizza place which had a menu in the hotel room and it was very well priced and pretty good. Overall it was worth the small price we paid and we'd stay with them again. Mehr

At first it was over 10 minutes before they could find my name in there books for the room. I found hair in the tube in the room. They can hardly speak English. When I went to the front desk because I looked my key in my. Room they did not ask for my ID or name they just made a new room key, too the wrong room # so I had to go back up there then they […] got smart when I asked for the key again. The best thing about our stay at the Victory Inn was the desk clerk. He was upbeat, always smiling and a real pleasure to deal with. Also the location was great since we were planning to go to the Ford complex.

We were very happy with the Room overall. The only issue I had was the coffee maker had an OLD pouch in it and was not cleaned out at all - When I tried to make coffee again it came out very weak. We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel staff were quite friendly and very helpful. The recommendation they made in response to our request for a local restaurant resulted in our returning to the restaurant twice (it was that good). Only issue that we had over the course of two days was trying to […] access the Internet - but staff were very helpful in connecting us to their Internet support person, who quickly got us connected. This hotel was a dump. There were hair balls on the floor, a dead bug squashed on the wall and cigarette burns in the sheets and sofa. The place wreaked of smoke. I kept my flip flops on to take a shower.

the lobby lookes fine, carpet to the room, fine, open the door and the carpeting was beyond worn. Bed looked like some has slept in it. The odor of sweatty bodies and cleaning and odor removal chemicals ruled the night. Had I not prepaid, I would have bugged out. I believe there were hookers working the ground floor. Unless you are a smoker and don't mind the NASTY smelling rooms, don't bother with this hotel. The location seemed safe and the front desk girl was nice, but beyond that, our stay was awful. We had ordered a king size NON-SMOKING room, but it wasn't available when we got there, so we were put in another NON-SMOKING room with two doubles and told it […] was an "upgrade". When we got to our first room, we could barely enter the room because of the overwhelming STENCH of stale smoke. After dragging all our luggage back to the front desk, we were moved to the second building. This room also stank of smoke, but it wasn't as bad as the other, so we stayed there, assuming ALL the NON-SMOKING rooms in this hotel smelled like smoke. Both rooms even had NO-SMOKING signs on the doors. In addition to the stench, there were cigarette burns on everything- curtains, carpet, bedding. The carpets were so disgustingly dirty, I ended up throwing away the pair of socks I wore because they were so black with dirt. All the furniture was very worn and also had burn marks. The toilet seat was held on with only one screw. And last, but not least, the door limiter (the latch that you flip over a knob) was half pulled out of the door, which makes me second guess the safety of the neighborhood. The front desk staff gave us conflicting information. But, the biggest issue we had is that we got a non smoking room, but it did smell like smoke big time. In actuality, the entire floor we were at smelled like smoke, even though there are non smoking signs on every door. That was the most disappointing thing for us.

Upon check-in, the desk clerk was totally unfamiliar with Hotels.com and didn't quite understand that our stay was already paid for when we reserved our room. (This, by the way, is the 2nd time this has happened to us when booking with hotels.com, and I wish hotel management would make sure the desk clerks know how to process rooms booked through hotels.com […] which are paid in advance.) Anyhow, there was much confusion regarding this, but it all got straightened out eventually. Also, the desk clerk was unable to give us directions to a restaurant, saying she was unfamiliar with the area. It would have been helpful if she would have been better able to assist us in this way. The halls looked a bit beat up and the hall carpet needed sweeping, but the bed, pillows and room were clean and comfortable. While the furniture was older, it was clean & serviceable. The room had a down-home cozy feel to it. The bathroom was quite spacious and the shower, sink, toilet all worked well. The bathroom floor looked clean but was sticky (perhaps from the cleaner used on the floor). The room did have a very unpleasant odor of old smoke, even though it was a nonsmoking room. In fact, when I got hope, I had to wash all of our clothes because the clothes picked up the smell. For that reason alone, I probably would not use this hotel again and would not recommend it if you are a non-smoker. Mehr

Maybe this used to be a smoking room or maybe their was something dead inside the room but it smelled terrible. It smelled so bad that after staying one night I had to air out my luggage. Overall, it seemed tidy and the mattress was comfortable but the odor was stale smoke and musty. The heater was also extremely loud the room was very cold. Every time […] the heater kicked on or off at night I woke up (which was about every 10 mns) I couldn't turn it off completely because it was cold and I couldn't find a setting to just let it run. Go down the road for a hotel. Skip this one until they do some serious renovations to get the stink out. Mehr

Victory Inn West Dbrn. is a decent place to stay for the night. Comfy bed, room seemed large. Liked the fridge/microwave, extra vanity. The hotel could use some updates. Smelled like smoke in the hallway.

Even though our room was non-smoking, there was a pervasive odor in the room that was not pleasant. The tub backed up but was taken care of in a timely manner. The corridor was noisy with inconsiderate people yelling at 2 in the morning. The breakfast was adequate, but no fresh fruit.

We were in town for a wedding and the hotel everyone else was staying at was booked solid. We put in the address of the other hotel and this one was only 2 miles away and $70 cheaper. It was clean and the beds were comfortalbe. Easy check in process.

the people that run this hotel are the rudest people i have ever come across in the hotel industry. not only did that call and wake me up at 6:30 in the morning asking if i would like to extend my stay and ask if i would like house keeping for the day but when i went and asked for an extra towel they told me that they didnt have any extra and would […] have to leave a note for house keeping. plus i am a grown adult there was no reason for the old man running the place to scream and yell at me as if i was a 4yr old while i was sitting at the pool reading a book. the people who run the place are the worse i have ever seen if it wasnt fot the convience of the hotel i would of stayed some where else. Broken air conditioner, no wifi. Was moved to room near lobby. No problems with rm 103. Next day I returned at 5 pm to find that I was locked out of my room. They changed the door key and wanted me to move me to rm 128. I wanted to rest but I had to move to rm 128. I found that further you get from the lobby the worse the room. I then had to visit the […] lobby to get wifi. Too many faults to list. Senior citizens should steer clear. I was too tired to move to another hotel. Complaints are met with excuses. I suggest a sign in the lobby that reads "you are the only one complaining" I guess I needed a petition with other guest to complain. I am looking forward to my next stay at a boring hotel.
