Als Vorübernachtung für eine Kreuzfahrt völlig o.K. zumal das Hotel den kostenlosen Busshuttle stellt. Falls man zu Fuß Richtung Las Olaz Blv. geht, sollte man schon darauf achten, wer in der Umgebung rumläuft ( im Dunkeln besser mit dem Taxi fahren), da einige Obdachlose rumhängen.Aber das ist ja in Deutschland auch nicht anders. Frühstück für amerikanische Verhältnisse o. K.

Stilgemäßes Art-Deco-Hotel für einen Aufenthalt mitten drin in Miami Beach. Sehr schönes Ambiente in der Lobby. Zwar ist das Personal viel Kommen und Gehen von Gästen gewöhnt, trotzdem noch positive, freundliche Routine.

In dieser Preiskategorie sicher eines der besten Hotels. Saubere und moderne Zimmer. Gutes Frühstück, sehr nettes Personal. Einzig negativ ist die Poolanlage. Mobiliar verbraucht und lädt nicht zum planschen ein. Pool ist auch sehr klein. Habe keine Gäste gesehen die sich dort aufgehalten haben. Aber ansonst sehr zu empfehlen da in kurzer entfernung(3min. Fußweg) Supermärkte, Restaurants und andere Geschäfte vorhanden. Von 6 Hotels in dieser Preisklasse die wir in Florida besuchtt haben, eindeutig das beste Hotel.

Hervorragende Lage ein Block vom Ocean Drive und dem wunderbaren Strand entfernt. Äußerst freundlicher Service. Die Standardzimmer sind klein aber sehr zweckmäßig und nett im Art Deco Stil eingerichtet. Das Hotel verfügt über einen Pool auf der Dachterrasse. Es werden kostenlos Liegen und Handtücher am Strand zur Verfügung gestellt. Sehr zu empfehlen für Gäste die direkt in der Nähe des Art Deco Viertels übernachten möchten.

Paid for the hotel on the phone. made sure to gt an ocean view, got to the hotel and come to find out they said i only booked a standard room, i was so angry i didnt get what i paid for. overall nice hotel.

It 's a good place to rest for few days w/family, a very quiet place, the room should have a litle more comfort mainly the matress and pillows, the floor of the pool need little repair& if you reinstal the mini golf that used to be next to pool years ago, would be another amenity for guest.

I have stayed here several times haven't been in 2 yrs. was pleasantly surprised I guess its under new management and they are doing a fantastic job. I must say that the service was truly terrible. The only pro was the location which was in a not so great neighborhood but near the beach. Now, how to begin describing the cons. First, paying for parking at your establishment is just wrong. If we would have known that before making the reservations, we would have reconsidered. When we arrived at the […] hotel, the concierge gave us the key to the ninth floor. When we get to the floor, the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke just made my whole family cough, Thinking it could not get worse, the keys would not open the door. The concierge set up the keys to the wrong room. After getting all that taken care of. The room that was given to us had the stiffest mattresses and the most pungent air freshener smell that still could not disguise the smoke scent. We reserved a non-smoking bedroom to our surprise. After waking up from a nightmare of a mattress, we went down to grab the so called "free breakfast." Let me say this, if I gave you a cardboard box and called it a home, you would feel disappointed or even furious. Well, if you give me a toast and called it a breakfast, I would be disappointed and furious. I feel embarrassed to have taken my family there. I truly hope for the future of the Howard Johnson franchise, you dont remain treating people like garbage. Mehr
"All in one- hotel,beach, restaurant"
We booked this hotel after we got off our cruise at Port of Miami. It was actually pretty far away.. but they graciously let us check in about 4 hours early. We were grateful..had luggage and no car!! Room was spacious and clean. Location was not optimal for going anywhere since we didn't have a car, It's pretty much just surrounded by other hotels. […] But the pictures aren't lying, it's right on the beach!! It wasn't a very nice day, but we did sit out there and listen to the waves, which was nice. The hot tub and pool weren't very clean, which may have been from the rain earlier. We ate at the hotel restaurant twice. A little pricey, but decent food. My family and I stayed in a junior suite at this hotel for a week. We could hardly wait to get home aside from the beach. The location was ideal, the beach was great but thats it. The restaurant service was poor and the food was not bery good at all. House keeping was poor in service and the room felt unsanitary as a result. The rooms are old and need […] to be updated and properly marketing on the websites. This hotel looks like it has not had a single update since the mid 80's. I will say that the front office staff and manager were great people, but woudl better suit a newer hotel, with a much better restaurant. We would never stay at this property again. Mehr
"Hotel stay was good"
I booked the ocean front room, and the beach view was gorgeous. The free continental breakfast was enough to get your day started. The beach was good too, but its not clean, there were lot of seaweeds floating in and around the water. You get the beach chairs to relax on the beach. Overall nice experience.

"Riot in a room, call security."
Upon check in, front desk fine. Easy check in. As we got out of the elevator to go to our room, we can hear arguing inside one of the room, which was 2 doors down from ours. When we got into our room, we could still hear the arguing, it got louder and louder, it sounded like there was riot going on in that room. We spent no more than 5 min. in the room, […] when my husband suggested we change room immediately. We told the front desk our situation, they sent security up. However, the front desk was helpful and understanding and changed our room, to an upgraded room. When we checked in, it wasn't as nice as the first one. But we were tired and decidedbt to change again. A few min. later the room next to us, had an unruly child, crying screaming, parents yelling at the child. We figured it's Friday night, but hopefully it would not cont. it did for most of the evening, but stopped around 12 pm. My husband put ear plugs to drown out the screaming child. Also noted, there were no elevators or ramps to carry your luggage to the lobby. Only stairs or the bell boy could be called to do it. Not good if you have heavy suitcase! So all in all, would not stay there again. Mehr

We stayed here on our way to the Keys. This hotel provided us with what we were looking for : beach access, clean rooms, friendly staff and a good price. We think for a beachside hotel and a room with partial ocean view, this was a great deal!

"Helpful staff"
The concierge helped me and went out of his way to show me how to get around cheaply without paying all those parking charges. I had rented a car and used the bus saving a daily $35 parking fee at the seminar I was attending. The person at the desk talked on the phone nonstop and did not rush to help you. The room was clean but they did not sweep the […] hair under the hair dryer. They were pleasant at the hotel store and gave me exact change for the local bus. Mehr
"great bargain for Maimi on the ocean"
Very pleasantly surprised how well maintained hotel was. It is an old hotel, slightly musty odor, but very well maintained. It is on the ocean and has a lovely pool area with lounge chairs to relax on. Staff was very accommdating until my room was ready . Room was clean and very large. It was for a precruise night, which usually does not turn out well, […] since I shop for a cheap hotel. This, however, was a big plus since we actually enjoyed our day at the pool and beach. We even had dinner at the restaurant, sitting outside enjoying the view. The lobby is a 50's motive with old cars made into dining tables. FUN!!! Although we had a rented car we never left the hotel until checkout time. We were content to hang out at the hotel until it was time to drive to the ship. Yes, I would come back here again. Mehr

You could tell it was rebuilt from an old apartment building... Strange rooms and walls are definitely very "hear through".... But overall, a nice place to stay for short visit considering the price we paid for.

This hotel is so near at the beach, with a beautiful pool e view. I like the convenience and the park. Inside the room had a refrigerator that helped us. I think this thinks in this hotel is easy.

Thankfully, we spent almost no time in the hotel while in Miami. When we arrived, the hotel room seemed OK at first. However, upon closer inspection we noticed human hair all throughout the hotel room floor. It was easy to spot as the floors were tile. I'm talking a lot of hair, not just one or two dust bunnies rolling around. Also, garbage from previous […] guests was still in the cans. Our room never really got cleaned the whole time we were there. The only thing that was done on a daily basis was changing the bed sheets, and even then, just barely. Sometimes, the new bed linens were just piled on top of the tv. The trash was never emptied either. Additionally, the hotel advertised free wireless which is virtually non-existent. The signal was so weak that there was only one place within the hotel lobby that I could get the signal, and again, just barely. Mehr

"Miami Beach fl. Cheap and close to activity"
The room was very small, especially the bathroom. Was like a small closet. The rest was just ok. The price and location was great. The rest of the hotel was very nice. I would recommend it as a cheap place to stay Overall , it wasnt great but certainly adequate for a short stay, not a long one.

"The Wifi Howard johnson Hotel MIAMI BEACH"
They have ONLY internet (n Lobby! Don't think that in your room will have wifi or something like this. the Breakfast is expensive and EVERY little thing that you gonna do you will PAY for. like fitness room, spa, CHAIR on the beach, etc.

The hotel is very beautiful and everybody was nice. The was just two problems: The room was not set yet by the time we arrived there, we need to wait for about 30 minutes. And the second and worse problem: NEVER SCHEDULE A SHUTTLE WITH HIS HOTEL! They just do not appear to pick you up and do not let you know before.

"What a surprise"
I recently stayed at the Howard Johnson Plaza Dezerland Beach and Spa. The hotel itself was a great disappointment. My room was a walk into 1960...nothing has been updated or enhanced. I could have stayed at a Motel 6 and gotten more modern aesthetics. I was very disappointed. There was an additional $11/night parking fee that was not discussed in the […] fine print. Overall I would have paid more money for better hotel accommodations. Mehr

Hotel is getting old and has no A/C in the lobby. Internet connection is very limited and only in the lobby
