Larkspur Hotel Union Square - San Francisco

Wir wurden in dem Hotel freundlich empfangen, parken konnte man problemlos per self-parking eine Straße weiter. Die Lage in der nähe des Union Square ist praktisch und sehr zentral (Cable-cars, restaurants, Shopping, etc.) Leider blieb als Erinnerung zum Aufenthalt nur ein äußerst lauter Ventilator einer Klimaanlage hängen, der in der nähe unseres Zimmers […] in einem Mini-Innenhof installiert war. Dieser sprang mit Getöse etwa alle Stunde an und lief dann für eine Weile. Von Nachtruhe keine Spur, da die Fenster nicht schalldicht sind. Auch andere Zimmer hatten Fenster zu diesem Innenhof, also kein Problem nur eines Zimmers. Mehr

We knew that the rooms were small. Still, for a deluxe room we would have expected a little bit more. We also knew from other reviews that the street side was noisy. We therefore booked a room to the back of the hotel. Indeed there was no traffic noise, however, the walls were like paper. We could hear the neighbours speaking - next to us. Andalso in […] the room above us. When washing or flushing you could hear all guests around you. The receptionist was not very courteous. We did not feel treated too well. The location, however, has a real WOW-effect: In the very center of all you want to see in SF. And the room was very clean. But we still can not recommend this hotel. Next time another hotel. Mehr

Location of Hotel is great, right next to Union Square. Room was small and noisy, but clean. Do not be tempted to book this hotel because it includes a so called breakfast. Pre-packaged Danishes, dry muffins, bananas and apples will be all you will get. Very disappointing.

The rooms were on the smaller side (it is downtown San Francisco so you can't really hold it against them) but it was very comfortable! The bed was one of the most comfy hotel beds, shower was great, and it had all of the amenities I needed! The gentleman who took the late night shift at the front desk was awesome and amazingly helpful- service is definitely […] one of their priorities here! The location was great-walking distance to many shops, restaurants and Union Square. The rooms were cozy but comfortable and clean. The bar area and lounge had a wonderful fireplace and felt very inviting. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I would definitely consider another stay at this hotel

This hotel was perfect; my husband did most of the research so I went along with him and trusted his choice. The hotel was in a great location-we were able to walk just about everywhere local and not have to worry that we were turned around or lost. The Cable Car was located across the street and it was super simple. The only issue I had--if i had to […] say anything bad; was that I drink tea daily. So one day when they 'cleaned' the mugs I was given a dirty one back. Fortunately, I just put it to the side and used the other clean mug. Mehr

Management staff was very helpful and friendly.

Not sure how/why this has a 4.1 rating, good bang for the buck but its one of the smallest rooms i've stayed in outside of NYC. TV didnt work and the bathroom was 4x4.

We were looking for an inexpensive boutique hotel in Union Square and after reading the reviews, we stayed here. The staff was everything people said and the hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Smaller rooms but who spends time in their rooms when they are visiting the biggest little city in the world!

I got this hotel on a 25% discount, prices are unbeatable for what you get for that, totally recomended, of coarse rooms are small same as all the other hotels of this class around union square, but everything was great, will book this one again.

If you are not planning on staying in the room very much then you would like this hotel. The rooms are small but comfortable. The room that we booked said that it was "deluxe" but I would not describe it that way. It is your standard room with one queen size bed. The shower in the room was rather weird. One had to stand up against the wall to shower. […] This shower is also bad if one is tall. The hotel has very few amenities... They serve aweful tasting coffee in the morning and their bar is only open from 4-9 even on a Saturday night! Mehr

This was perfect for me and my friend. We had 208 which had a view of ivy. I loved the history of the hotel. I will stay there every time.....

This is an older building, but rooms are reasonably appointed, the lobby has been updated, and the staff does a great job. Stayed one night on business. Front desk steered me to a fantastic restaurant nearby. Convenient location for business in the Financial District, great neighborhood for walking.

Loved this property! Location is perfect, steps to Union Square and so many other San Fran treats. The staff is excellent. Rooms are small (as most are in SF), but clean, comfy and very charming. My only suggestion, don't get a room facing the street. Extra large window, with lots of light, comes with lots of street noise during the night.

Arriving at the hotel was a great start because I didnt realize how close it was to EVERYTHING! Union square, china town, cable car stops and so much more! the lobby was beautiful and serene as if the busy streets of San Francisco were no where near the entrance. The people working greeted you calmly and courteously. The room was the perfect size for […] the awesome price I paid and considering that I was in a city with rich history and buildings older than anything I live near I was fine with the size of the bathroom. Plus if you're spending so much time complaining about the bathroom size of a hotel room in one of the most gorgeous cities then you wasted your time and the hotels because they could've booked a better guest and the city could've used a better tourist. Very nice staff, great location very close to great shopping in Union square. Also cable car stops less than 1/2 a block away to take you to Wharf. If you want to take a double decker bus of the city the pick up is right in Union Square as well. You can't beat the location and price of this hotel.

highly recommend taking the price into consideration only problem is a bit cold

We were traveling through San Francisco on a Road Trip and wanted to be downtown. The first night was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were small but perfect for us. The second night was very noisy outside which the hotel can't help but it is something good to know. I would want to stay closer to the water next stay.

Had a great visit at the Larkspur. Perfect location, wonderful ambience, fine room, and great service. Love it love it

I ordered a king-size traditional bedroom with hotels.com, but when I got there, they had only one room left in the hotel. The front desk was very nice but profusely apologetic before I went up, so I was worried. Incredibly small room, with a twin bed and a window which, although on 2nd floor, gave access to an elevated pathway from which outsiders […] had obviously previously broken in. The window's latches took about 5 minutes to relock, as they'd been damaged from prior abuse. Crap room in a nice location. Mehr

The Larkspur is reasonably priced for a good location. Staff is kind and helpful! Great coffee, nicely decorated room, but on a small scale as would be expected with such older buildings in San Francisco. If you are busy out and about, it is a great place to rest your head! Stay away. The pillows smell like old socks, bathtub is moldy, etc. This place is old, small and disgusting. I would rather sleep on cardboard then there mattresses.

We thought the location was awesome - only a block to Union Square. The hotel is clean and the staff was nice. The hotel is one of the oldest in SF and remodeled nicely for an old building.

I loved the hotel, best 2 days of my life, my only complaint was te parking situation was a little bit of highway robbery

the location was right in union square but the hotel was old and the room was very small.

Nice city hotel in a great location (two blocks from Union Square). Room was fine, but bathroom was extremely small (though clean and fully functional). Other than that very charming hotel. Were able to check in early (11AM) without any problems. Parking (paid) in garage nearby which is open 24 hours. Nice staff.

Christmas decorations were great! Fire in lounge was nice! Location is fantastic to get around, 2 short blocks to Union Square! Bathroom was small but good toiletries! Not a hotel to stay in your room but who would in San Francisco!!

Located near main restaurants and shopping. The hotel seemed nice. Parking should have been reviewed before check-in. The bathroom is tiny so if you are sharing the room with someone you don't with to see you naked...I guess you could change in the bathtub. Or just hope they have bigger bathrooms in other rooms. The menu for a nearby restaurant was […] dirty even though it was clear plastic and washable. The street was noisy and it will wake you up all night. Trash collectors and other various noises. Wi-Fi was good, TV was okay, and the room was cozy. Glad we received a discounted rate. Mehr

Great hotel to stay at in SF. Clean room, great location but the first day we got there the person at check in was really rude, makes me think about staying somewhere else the next visit for SF.

You get what you pay for. This hotel is really old, but it's in a central location and the staff are really friendly and helpful. My sheets had a stain, but other than that, the room was pretty clean.

Staff was very friendly. Room was nice but extremely tiny, especially the bathroom (I have never seen a smaller bathroom).

Pros: Good location, near restaurants, the bart, and one block from union square. It is loud at night from street noises and yelling. The room was small but comfortable for one person. All staff were friendly and nice. String quartet was playing in the lobby during the evening. Cons: Disappointed when I saw a couple strands of hair in the bed. Front […] lobby is very nice, the rooms try to look fancy but not like the lobby. It has decorative wall paper. What looked cheap was the wall papered crowning along the top of one wall. I guess it would have been fine if it was around the whole room and not just one wall. This hotel is close to basically everything in the downtown area. You just a few blocks away from Chinatown, Union Square and all the major shopping. Right across from the hotel is Walgreens and 7 Eleven. It clean and roomy. The only thing I don't like is the bathroom. It very small and it kinda of a odd way to have a bathroom. It a old style hotel […] with little bit of a charm. BTW just beware of your next door neighbors. You can hear every conversation they have. Mehr
