Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt Hotel - London

Das einzige, was bei meinem Aufenhalt im Hotel nciht in Ordnung war- war die Größe des Zimmers und seine Lage. Ich konnte nicht schlafen, weil das Fenster zur Straße ging, es war sehr warm im Zimmer und das Klimaanlage war auch zu laut um einzuschlafen.

die Keykarten für die Türen funktionieren die halbe Zeit nicht. Eingangsbereich und Zimmer top, aber: Flure wirken gammelig, unter dem Teppich Unebenheiten (Löcher?) im Boden, Teppichkanten mit Isolierband fixiert, Möbel in Fahrstuhlhalle telweis mit Laken abgedeckt. Essen wird aus den Zimmern spät abends auf den Flur gestellt und steht am nächsten […] morgen immer noch in den (sehr schmalen) Gängen, was sehr unappetitlich wirkt. Aber Höhepunkt war, das wir den Concierge um die Organisation eines Flughafentransfer für 4 Erwachsene und Gepäck baten und ausdrücklich ein großes Fzg verlangten in der Erwartung das es einen Anbieter gäbe der mit dem Hotel zusammen arbeitet. Es gibt offensichtlich genügend Anbieter in London, die so etwas mit Vans und Chauffeur zu einem akzeptablen Preis (fix) anbieten. Wir bekamen ein kleines Taxi zum reinzwängen und wurden direkt informiert das wir bar zahlen müßten. Der Fahrer fuhr ohne Taxameter los was wir so hinnahmen weil wir glaubten das das Hotel vielleicht einen Sondertarif bekommen würde. 12 Meilen vor Stansted blieben wir mit Panne auf dem Motorway liegen und mußten in ein anderes Taxi, welches zufällig(!) gerade hinter uns war umsteigen und 120 Pfund bar bezahlen. Am Terminal mußten wir dem 2. Fahrer noch einmal 50 Pfund geben also 170 insgesamt. Diese Tour ist normalerweise zu einem Drittel dieser Summe zu haben.Das ganze war so dubios das wir gerade eine Eingabe an die Londoner Taxizentrale vorbereiten. Mehr

Das Hotel liegt wirklich sehr nah an der U-Bahn, tolle Museen, sowie Harrods sind direkt um die Ecke, man erreicht einiges zu Fuß, das ganze Viertel ist sehr hübsch. Das Hotel ist sehr gepflegt und das Personal bezaubernd. Die Zimmer sind klein, aber sauber. Ich kann dieses Hotel nur empfehlen (und ich habe schon einige Hotels in London gesehen, von […] denen ich die wenigsten empfehlen würde!). Mehr

Unabhängig von dem einen unmotivierten Nachtportier war das Hotel sehr sauber und schön. Die Angestellten sehr freundliche und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück per Buffet mit großer Auswahl und lecker. Das Hotel liegt optimal, direkt beim Natural History Musseum und dem Victoria&Albert Museeum. Man kann - wenn man gern zu Fuß geht - zu Fuß sowohl zu der Kensington […] High Street als auch zum Sloane Square (beides Shopping-Straßen) laufen. Zum Harrods (Knightbridge) läuft man nur etwa 20 Min.. Aber vor dem Hotel befindet sich auch die U-Bahn Gloucester Rd., von der man aus alles per U-Bahn erreichen kann. Zudem fährt fast vor dem Hotel der Bus, mit dem man zu Harrods, Hyde Park oder auch bis zur Oxfort Street fahren kann. Die Lage ist sehr sehr gut! Sehr empfehlenswert!! Mehr

Das Hotel liegt in einem sehr angenehmen Stadtteil und ist ca.100m von einer U-Bahn Station entfernt, dadurch war man sehr flexibel. Im Hotel war es sehr ruhig und das Personal war immer freundlich. Die Hotelbar ist sehr gemütlich. Der Fahrstuhl war gewöhnungsbedürftig und es hat lange gedauert bis er mal kam. Ich war zweimal innert eines Monats in demselben Hotel. Beim erstenmal hatte ich ein Zimmer nach hinten - von der Strasse weg - direkt neben einem Klimaanlagegerät. Nach der ersten durchwachten Nacht hatte ich ein Zimmer wo es tropfte. Beim 2. Besuch letztes Wochenende habe ich das Zimmer direkt neben der Klimaanlage sofort gewechselt und ein Zimmer […] auf Strassenseite erhalten - was bedeutend ruhiger war - dafür sehr klein. Ich habe die Vermutung, dass Zimmer, die prebooked sind eben nicht wirklich top sind. Das Frühstücksbuffet und der Service war ausgezeichnet. Mehr

The hotel was fine, in a great location, our biggest disappointment was the restaurant and lack of service. The staff was overwhelmed, poorly managed and the menu was over priced. Luckily there were plenty of other restaurants surrounding the hotel.

Overall terrific. Very nice and quiet area. One block from tube station with convenient rides to all attractions. Good restaurants and a nice pub within an easy walk.Within walking distance of Harrods, Natural History Museum and V& A Museum. Kind of quirky layout due to it being a combination of former town homes. A meandering walk to the lift. But […] you get used to it. The room and bathroom were small as expected but clean and well maintained. Only downside was that hot water required some manipulating of faucets which was a bit of a nuisance but manageable and we always got the hot water evevtually. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. For the price it was more than satisfactiory. Mehr

Excellent stay. Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Only slight criticism was the hotel room was rather small.

One block from museums, a short walk to Hyde Park, around the corner from the Gloucester tube stop, a convenience store, and a Starbucks. Along with the great location is the pleasing decor and charm of the lobby and bar/restaurant area. We arrived way early, but the staff had our room ready within an hour. The tube is across the street! New renovations are lovely. Loved it. Will be back.

We arrived at the hotel pretty late at night (2am) and there was only one man at reception, who was on the phone and did not acknowledge us at all. Finally when he got off the phone to check us in, we realised there was another staff in the back room who did not come out to help us. The staff were very slow and incompetent. When we got into our room, […] we decided to order food from room service, as we were starving! Nothing on their menu was available when we tried to order, except for chicken sandwiches. They didn't even have any coke, so they gave us a bottle of water instead. Other problems: The fridge didn't work so we had no where to store cold drinks, the windows don't open and the room was really warm and stuffy (the fan didn't help at all, very hard to sleep), the bathroom was tiny, the toilet flush button was so hard to press, there were no beside table lamps (which we like to use before we sleep), and the elevator was REALLY slow. The only good things I can say, the location was good (just a minute walk from Gloucester Rd station) and the bedsheets were pretty comfortable. Overall, we were really disappointed for the money we paid, and we expected more from a "4-star" hotel. There were so many little problems which added up and made the whole experience quite unpleasant. Would not stay with them again. Mehr

nice room and furnishings, altho the toilet/sink is almost a single unit thery are so close...but everything very clean and well kept .

Very pleasant stay there for four nights. Must mention staff very pleasant and helpful. Very convenient for Museums, Albert Hall,London Bus Tours and Glouster Road Tube Station. Brilliantly convenient for Touring London.

The Radisson is in a superb location and has a nice feel to it.... Two points of note however... It's acoustics are poor.This resulted in a n earlier than desired wake up due to young restless children next door. Also the bathroom layout is rather restrictive.....

I am used to staying in hotels in Toronto, so comparitively, this room was tiny to me which was a shock at first. In Canada, this type of room would be a three (at best) or even two star hotel...Until I went around the surrounding area and realized that in London, this sized room is the norm and it certainly was a four star compared to the other rooms […] I saw in the area for the same price or even higher! So definitely great relative value for the money and the staff are helpful and kind. They gladly held my bags for me when I checked out because i wanted to tour around London until it was time to head to the airport. Mehr

The single room is the smallest room I ever slept in Noisy hallway

This hotel was such a gem. For the room being a single it was quite generous. The only bad thing, is while the bathroom was really clean, it smelled faintly of urine. I checked the toilet and the water seemed a bit yellow, so I flushed for good measure. Not very long later a toilet flushed upstairs and the urine smell came back stronger. Old pipes must […] have a backup somewhere, so when others flush it wound up faintly leaking into my toilet. Other than that, it was a great hotel with everything I needed close by. Shopping, a Starbucks, Gloucester Rd Tube Stop and the V&A museum. I'd definitely return. Mehr

two minutes from the tube to the hotel (go out the tube entrance to the left, go to the corner, hotel is on far right quadrant - British flag flying - easy to see); super fast to Heathrow via Paddington express (3 tube stops away); rooms are clean and nice (carpet a bit worn); staff superb and helpful ... you can walk almost everywhere you want to go […] but the Tube is two minutes from the door of the hotel. Grocery story on corner by tube, little restaurants, patisserie, etc. right at tube. This will be my new "go to" London lodging. Mehr

Staff were extremely helpful. One thing I did not realize when I book this hotel is that it is near Gloucester Road Station - Picadilly Line going to Heathrow. Lucky Me. No need for expensive service to the airport. I got a small single bed room but nice bathroom though. Will I certainly book again.

Easy access to the Underground if you want to head out or a nice, cozy bar if you want to stay in.

small room- will request larger next time bedside lamp would be nice lift tiny- accommodates 2 only! breakfast expensive (Jan2012) no onsite parking- weekend parking in surrounding streets. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definately return

Hotel was in a great location steps from the Gloucester Road Tube station (Piccadilly line which is direct from Heathrow) and connencts to St. Pancras station with rail links north. Also close to museum of Natural History and V&A with restaurants and cafes surrounding. Halls are very narrow in the hotel with lots of doors and rooms are small but that's […] expected in London. Shower was a bit small but overall I would recommend the hotel, mostly because of the location. Tour buses also stop here for Stonehenge and the Big Bus Tour stops right by the Gloucester Road Station. Mehr

convenient location across Cromwell from Gloucester Road Tube station. Close to Museums and Hyde Park. Room was very, very small...even by London standards. Not a good value for money

The hotel rate was reasonable and the location is good for Knightsbridge but the rooms were so small they were claustrophobic. The corridors were too narrow to wheel suitcases. Good hotel for those on a budget.

Nice hotel and a good location let down badly by the condition of it's bed, mattress and bathroom. The bed was so hard and uncomfortable that we hardly got any decent sleep and arose having stiff necks and sore backs. The bathroom was outside the bedroom and down 4 stairs. The bathroom was so small you had to walk backwards to exit the room. All in […] all a poor experience and I could not recommend this hotel. I will never stay here again. Mehr

This hotel was very clean and the service was impeccable. It is conveniently located within 2 mins from the Gloucester tube station; near the hotel you can find nice restaurants and fast food, Starbucks, Tesco etc.. Highly recommended!

Overall great experience at the hotel. I don't need much but the room, while small for a single, was more cozy than cramped. Location is a short walk to the Gloucest Tube station and lots of fast food or sit down resturaunts within a couple of blocks. The staff were all very nice and the hotel was very clean both in the lobby and a good job in the […] room. I stayed down the block earlier in the week and while the hotel was equally as nice, it was also much more expensive. I got a banging rate from Hotels.com so that made it a nice end to a long vacation. Mehr

Water to the hotel went out and the hotel never notified anyone. They never distributed water or attempted to mitigate the impact on the guests that were there. As a matter of fact they continued to take in new guests as others were leaving for obvious reasons.

The Radisson Edwardian's location has a terrific location for access to and from Heathrow via Underground, is near the V&A plus a few more attractions, and transportation to any London attraction is excellent. Rooms are smallish and a bit worn, but the hotel is basically quite comfortable, with tea maker, fridge, iron, wifi, and so on. The limitations […] would be very easy to overcome, but after 2 stays, I'm not sure the will is there. Here are a few examples: my early request for a somewhat larger room because of my physical condition was accepted but not honored. Problems with internet access took 12 hours to resolve, and "explanations" did not make sense. The check-in process took a very long time, with many repetitive questions. In short, this is a good place to stay, but be prepared for some rough spots. Too bad, because there's nothing wrong that would not be easy to fix. Mehr

My experience at this hotel was totally positive. Its location is a big plus—across the street from the Gloucester Rd. Station and a Gloucester Rd. Starbucks! There is also a Boots pharmacy and a grocery store. But location was not the only plus. There were many others. I had a lovely standard room with a queen-size bed rather than a double bed, and […] big windows overlooking other traditional buildings on Cromwell Road. It had handsome, heavy, light-concealing drapes that were appropriate to the vintage building, a good, workable desk and conveniently placed electrical plugs. The hotel is a renovated mansion—and has been lovingly restored. combines the traditional (the lovely dark wainscoting and period-appropriate wallpaper in the halls, the extensive use of marble, etc.) with the convenience of the new—a young, bright, helpful staff and free WiFi in the rooms—along with a small, concealed refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was a joy—done completely in marble—floors and walls. The bathtub itself was deep and long. The shower feature was conveniently placed and worked well. The bar was warm and welcoming, with a fireplace—and the restaurant does wonderful things with grilled Scottish salmon, seared scallops, and a butternut squash salad. Room service gets five stars. No, it is not a boring, cookie-cutter hotel, but the service and décor are exquisite. It reminds me of the wonderful hotels I stayed in and loved when I was doing a term in England many years ago as a student. I’d like to add that –when it was time to go—my taxi was waiting, the bell man came quickly and all was arranged to perfection. A member of the staff even printed my tickets to a couple of exhibitions when I was in hurry and having trouble getting access to my university’s site. Lovely people, lovely place.
