We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel Cavour, rooms were clean, comfortable, and very nice. The location was great, and the staff very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Did not like hotel at all. We were stuck in the old part of hotel and it was not updated at all very loud outside all night.

Excellent Hotel, if we had one complaint it was that the room smelt as if someone had been smoking in it! Also it was near the staff door which meant there were some early noises. These were really small gripes in what is other wise a very nice hotel with accomodating staff. We would be happy to return to this hotel should be be fortunate to visit Florence […] again Mehr

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The location is phantastic, the staff was extremely friendly and helpfu. The room was fine. Free Wifi as well, albeit slow. As with most old European hotels, the walls are extremely thin and we had to put up with a certain noise level especially emanating from the hallway.

Front desk staff was extremely rude! Location good. We had a balcony room, doors would not close tight, very noisy. Best part was the free breakfast and clean room. Will NOT stay there again.

Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Location was excellent unfortunately, it was very noisey at night due to local traffic and revellers but other than that it was a very pleasant stay.

I was very happy with this hotel. It is in a great location next to the Uffizi museum and many other great shopping and site seeing places. Definitely try the yellow bar restaurant next door it is amazing and always busy! I would definitely stay here again.

Don't expect a warm and inviting welcome when entering this hotel. The desk staff were rude and unwilling to answer questions about the area. And if you want to use the workout area and "mini spa" it will cost you an extra 10 euro each time and you have to be escorted there. Although I will say the staff for breakfast was exceptional. We stayed here in January 2012. Off-season for Italy. Hotel room was small by US standards, but perfectly reasonable by European. Very clean, great sheets, pillows. My shower and tub worked excellently (other reviews listed this as a problem, and I was slightly worried). Great location, walked from train station in 15 minutes. Walked to all sight-seeing […] locations. TV had only 3 English speaking stations. Breakfast buffet was good, which saved some money considering the food at restaurants is expensive in Italy. location is convenient to all sites. have to use hotel parking if you drive bc no parking on nearby streets, but the daily parking cost basically was the daily cost to rent the car. very expensive. the king size bed was the standard 2 twin beds put together...very uncomfortable for a couple.

Best hotel we stayed at in Italy. Room was unbelievable, as was the location. Can't give it enough praise. If you can afford it -- stay there!

It might have been "Grand" a few decades ago, and since lost a little of its luster, but the hotel is still strongly recommended. The rooms are simple but clean, and the service is good. What makes this hotel a 4 star is the location. Simply perfect.

The hotel is very nice place in excellent location. We arrived in middle of the marathon so getting through the crowds was a bit of trouble. The rooms are a bit small but in Florence it is expected. Grand Hotel but on a smaller location. Great location only a block from from the Doumo and easy walking distance to all of the best sites--no need for a taxi. Charming roof top open terrace with bar (in season) and amazing views not to be missed. All of this and a good value.

Super hotel/ located in a very doog location of the city

I stayed one night previously and all was well on my second stay of two nights my room was very nice and quiet until midnight of the second night and it sounded like furniture was being moved over my head for several hours. I was on a non smoking floor and my room smelt like someone was standing outside my door in the middle of the night smoking. When […] I complained I was given more of a shrug off, and told I was on a non smoking floor. I know I was on a non smoking floor but that doesn't mean people don't break the rules. Well I guess it is more of the same looking at some of the recent reviews but I am not easily pleased. Hotel Cavour (just round the corner from the Duomo) is in a 'perfect' location for exploring the streets of Florence and thanks to TA I discovered this gem. There are wonderful streets with a fantastic atmosphere for one to explore using the Cavour […] as 'base camp' and that is just what my wife and i did. Florence is best explored on foot and the Cavour is strategically located to enable one to do just that. There is no need to read up on 'transportation' for this City as the historic centre is within easy reach of the Hotel. The Cavour has a 'good feel' about it and the reception sets the right tone for a night or two in this City. This area of the hotel is spacious and well appointed. The seating facilitated rest in salubrious surroundings and 'people' watching as the lifts are close by. The bedroom was spacious and although not ones colour scheme everything was just fine. The en suite was excellent with a good sized shower cubicle. We slept well even though we were on the second floor. I had read complaints about noise. Breakfast in the Cavour was exceptional when compared with a lot of other hotels in this price range. There was a good dining facility with a good range of food for a buffet breakfast. In fact the opportunity for a substantial breakfast eliminated the need for lunch when out and about. There is a fantastic range of shopping (a lot of leather goods and shoe shops by the dozen) and restaurants within a short distance from the hotel. Oops............... I almost forgot to mention the rooftop terrace; not that I used it but there are fantastic views (and photo opportunities) across the City. If ever back in Florence I will be booking this hotel. The hotel was beautiful with an amazing view of the Duomo from the rooftop bar. The location was perfect, right in the center of everything. The breakfast was wonderful, and there was free wi-fi.

We were very pleasantly by the Grand Hotel Cavour! The value is wonderful. The room was well decorated with a modern, chic feel. Our favorite aspect of the hotel was the rooftop with beautiful views of sunset behind the Duomo. The service was also stellar and the staff pointed us to multiple great destinations for our meals.

The location was good but the overall feel of this hotel was so cold. The staff were so unfriendly and the hallways had a terrible smell. The rooftop was nice and the breakfast was good.

Hotel was in close proximity to all the major attractions. 10-15 min walk to the train station and 5-10 minutes to Uffizi, Duomo and Accadamia. Hotel service was great and complimentary breakfast was nice. Refrigerator didn't work, but we were rarely inside the room, so that wasn't a deal breaker. My family of 5 enjoyed the charm of this hotel. We reserved 2 rooms on the same floor and both rooms' decor had a character you might imagine in an Italian-run hotel in an artsey city like Florence. The location is only a few blocks from the Duomo, so you are right in the center of Florence where you want to be. The front desk and the concierge were […] very helpful and engaging. The view of Florence at night from the top terrace is picturesque with all of the lighted historic buildings in the distance. The terrace wine & bar service was a bit expensive, but i guess it was worth it to be able to sit above on comfortable furniture overlooking the Florence nightline. Mehr

Our room was on the second floor, down a couple small flights of stairs, tucked into a corner. I twas adequate for our stay. The bathroom only had a shower with a slow drain. Service in the hotel was good, the terrace bar was great (drinks expensive), and we enjoyed the breakfast that was included. We chose the hotel for the location. I took my wife to Florence as a surprise birthday present. I carried out the usual background investigations on Trip Advisor etc. and found the Hotel Grand Cavour coming out as favourite. I wanted a hotel that had a bit of the wow factor as well as being comfortable and centrally located. After booking the dates I was in email correspondence with Yuri […] on reception and he managed to pre book me a really nice restaurant for my wife’s birthday (definitely recommend it, called Buca Mario) as well as providing some wine and choccies in the room upon arrival. When we landed at Pisa airport we were intending to travel to Florence via train but subsequently found that there was a train strike so opted for the Terravision Coach. This turned out to be a better option as it took the same amount of time to travel the distance but the departure and arrival times were much better. The coach drops off at the train station in Florence and due to fact it was over 95 degrees we got a taxi to the hotel (about 7 euros). Upon entering the reception you get the feeling of grandeur with various statues and the high ceilings. The room was excellent and quiet, if there was a downside the view was of a back alley, but I would prefer the peace. Breakfast was continental but still very good and fresh. If we were to return to Florence we would definitely book the Hotel Grand Cavour. Thanks for all your help Yuri..... Mehr

The hotel lacked the internet service I, in particular, need....even when in Florence. It was wholly unreliable to the point of frustration. It wouldn't stay up more than 10 minutes at a time...to give you an idea. The location, however, was superb. I stayed at this hotel and had a better room around 10 years ago. My sister-in-law was with us so I didn't […] ask for a better room being mollified by the additional space we had for her. All and all, it's a good 3 star hotel (at best) and I believe still worth the money. But if you need internet, go elsewhere. It will drive u a little looney. Mehr

This hotel is conveniently located to all of the main attractions in Florence. All of the main attractions are easily accessible by walking. The main train station is also relatively close and is about a ten minute walk at most. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Florence that wants to be close to all of the attractions.

Great location...blocks away from many of the sites we wanted to see. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Our room had a shower but our friend's room had a tub and was a little bit bigger so you might want to ask about that if it's important to you. Bar on roof has great view and the night club downstairs seemed to be hopping! Didn't affect the […] room though...mostly quiet and slept like a baby. Mehr

Close to major sights, good restaurants and good shopping. Room was very small--no iron or iron board, Shower was tiny. New renovated part of hotel, is much nicer. Our daughter was in the newer part and had lots of space.

The hotel has a great location, just two blocks from the Duomo and three blocks from the Piazza Della Signoria. It was a modern hotel with free Internet. Breakfast wasn't included and there were options for 8 and 16 euros. My wife loved the breakfast and I didn't. All in all a very positive experience.

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights and had a great stay. Front desk staff was excellent and spoke English which helped us quite a bit. We had a room directly over the entrance and it was a tad bit noisy from the street but the double doors were adequate enough to block most of the noise. This hotel is perfect for the Florence tourist interested in seeing the old city center. It is within five blocks of every major Florence attraction (Palazzo Pitti, Pointe Veechio, Uffitsi Museum, Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Piaza della Republica, etc.) We could see the Duomo campanelle from our room and everything else from the rooftop patio. The entire […] area was safe and clean and we saw single women pedestrians after midnight. The hotel and staff were first class and responsive to all of our requests for information or services. Our room for three had two bedrooms and a large and outstanding bathroom with ultra modern luxury fixtures including floor lighting. We give Hotel Grand Cavour our highest recommendation. Mehr

Bad check-in experience. Poor service. Minimal amenities. Great location. If you don't plan to spend time in hotel this hotel is okay. But would not recommend for price.

I was extremely unpleased with the hotel room because there was no shower in the bathroom, only a bath tube, without ANY kind of glass door or curtain, and no place to hang the shower, so half of the bathroom get soaked every time I wanted to take a shower. I complained and asked to change but the hotel staff did not let me. I was very surprised with […] this because overall the hotel is very nice and the location is great. Hotel Cavour was a great Hotel in a great location. Only steps from many of Florence's sights. The neighborhood always felt safe and was very convenient. The rooms we were given were not quite as plush as the pictures led us to believe but they were still nice. The bathrooms were also a good size for Italy. The mini-bar and room service were VERY expensive, […] we found much better and cheaper food/drink options nearby. There was a strange perfume smell in the lobby that was quite overwhelming so we generally stayed out of there. The WiFi worked in the hallway outside of our room but not in it. Hotel Cavour was in a perfect location - in the middle of Florence within short walking distance to landmarks, museums, shopping, restaurants and the train station.
