I found the hotel easy to locate not much in the way of amenities, Clean, very basic.

When i arrived at the hotel it was written on the sign : Embassy West Senior living .. they didnt tell us the hotel was transitioning to a senior place ..

I would avoid this hotel. It is actually a "Senior Living Facility" not a hotel and they fill the empty rooms with hotel guests. The room was filthy, towels dirty and thread bare and the pillows have not been replaced since ... I doubt they have ever been replaced. It is just creepy sleeping in a room that smells like a hospital and knowing that you […] got "George's" room because "he won't be coming down for breakfast in the morning" (if you get my drift.) There is a travel lodge right down the block that might be a better choice. I know because I had to go there to get directions since I did not know I would be staying at a senior living facility. I enjoyed my stay, it was just what I needed. It was odd as it didn't say 'Hotel' on the outside, just 'Seniors' Residence'. The front desk staff was very nice, the room was spacious, clean and new. I would certainly stay there again.

I cannot complain about the hotel. The hotel was nice and was a great value. The room was spacious with a nice bathroom. The room was very clean. However, the hotel had a hospital feel. The room was obviously converted from a hospital room to a hotel room as we had hospital outlets on the wall. It seems half the building was a hotel while the lower […] two or three floors are for senior living. It seems a little mean-spirited but I do not want to spend my vacation in a senior home. Mehr

Itr would be convenient to instal winter matts beside the entrance door to ptu snowy shoes

Extremely surprised and extremely satisfied with my 48 hours stay. The best large and clean room with cuisinette I've ever had. The wooden floors and bathroom are unbelievable. Marcel

This hotel is being converted or was a Senior Home. The rooms are setup with a small kitchen. The bathrooms remind of hospital bathrooms. But, can't beat the price.

We did not realize that this hotel was also a senior's residence. It was a bit odd that there were hotel rooms and senior's residences on the same floor. Our room had Call Buttons for residents and items to make the rooms senior friendly such as seat in the shower - however we are not seniors and found it somewhat odd. It would have been nice to know […] in advance. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The Night Manager however was exceedingly rude to her staff and came barging in while we were checking in - proceeded to issue demands rudely and did not care that quests were present. The room was clean and the staff was pleasant but what is not fully disclosed on the hotels.com website is that this is a Senior Living Facility that also rents rooms. The cafeteria is geared towards and populated with nursing home residents. I'm sure the Prune Juice is top grade, but not my cup of tea.

Other than the massive construction being done on the street it was a pleasant stay. The mattress could have been a bit more comfortable and the pillows fluffier but very convenient having a microwave and kitchenette in the room.

We had a one night stay at the hotel. It was clean and the beds were fairly good. Even though there was construction immediately in front of the building, it was still quiet. Only drawback: the heat/cool system was not working in room 427. We didn't alert the staff since the temp outside was above zero. The staff was courteous and helpful. We'll stay […] there again. I visited the hotel's website and was shown that the hotel was newly re-done. I booked through Hotels.com with no problem. However you should have seen the look on my wife's and my face when we drove up to the hotel and read " Embassy West Senor Living". Nowhere did the hotel website indicate that that the hotel was in the process of converting to an […] old age home. I was shocked and thought my wife duped me into moving in. I would not suggest this hotel for others and will not stay there again. Mehr

Amazing cleanliness and great staff

I was very impressed with the assistance that I received from Brenda, at the main desk. She was patient, helpful and very interested in accomodating my needs. She worked very diligently to assist me. Thank you very much!

If you are looking for a hotel, do NOT stay here... it is NOT a hotel.

It through me a bit off when I arrived at the embassy West Hotel only to find out the name on nthe building was Embassy West senior Living Center. No disrespect to the elderly, but I didn't expect to hang out with senior citizens. Room and building were nice. Just a bit creepy.

I needed a room for one night, as I was dropping my son off in Ottawa. I knew ahead of time that this place had been converted into a retirement home, but on-line the rooms looked clean and comfortable (and quiet) so I figured, why not? I would like to warn all tavellers that this hotel is a senior community. This was not advertised when I purchased the room and was very disappointed when I walked in and was surrounded my a loppy full of sleeping seniors. As other reviews state this hotel is in the process of being converted into a seniors' residence. However, everything is new, very clean and tidy. For those with allergies, there are no rugs. There is laminate floors. The washroom is spacious but there are emergency pull cords beside the bed and in the washroom. A bit of a surprise as this hotel is mainly converted to a seniors home. All newly renovated, very clean and right off hwy 417. The room has a small kitchenette with microwave and fridge. A quiet place to stay.

Very comfortable room, staff courteous, overhaul very good and would recommend this hotel for a stay in Ottawa

its now a senior home /hotel . i was not impress if want breakfast you had wait seniors to be done 1st plus location sucked i like to the hill. please let people know this when tell them its senior home / hotel. you have pay me to stay there next time

the hotel was under construction and it is a retirement residence for the senior citizens. they had jack hammers going at 7 am down the hall way and outside on the streets. the room was clean, no close by places to eat within walking distance.

A fine fine room in a nice hotel. For my 3 night stay, it was a reasonable price.

The Embassy West Hotel is a warm and quiet place to stay after a hospital visit. As it has recently been converted into a seniors care facility rooms, even those on hotel floors, are clearly outfitted for the use of seniors. For example there are emergency buttons and pull cords, huge digital alarm clocks and the shower temperature maxes out at luke […] warm. With other hotels in the neighborhood, I will not be returning to the Embassy West. Mehr

Our first clue should have been the sign on the door that said Embassy West Senior Living. We thought we were in the wrong place! Our second clue should have been the seniors in wheel chairs sitting in the lobby together. The elevator isn't big enough for more than 2 people with luggage. They told us to use a special elevator with the luggage cart and […] said our room key would give us access to that elevator. Wrong. We later barely squeezed 4 people into the small elevator with no reason given why we weren't now allowed to use the bigger one. The room when we arrived was like a sauna and stayed that way even with the heat turned off. The "Guest Guide" says you have access to in-room movies. Wrong again. You don't. At least we had internet access but we had to phone down to the desk to ask about it and the login information. There's is no information anywhere, not even in the Guest Guide. The room is very tiny and very awkwardly laid out. You bump the wall trying to get into one side of the bed. The bathroom has a pedestal sink so no room anywhere for personal toiletries. We ended up just keeping ours packed, which is completely inconvenient. There is a huge closet that is a waste of space because the only thing we put in it was our coats. Overall the place is a hole and it was a huge mistake to stay there. We paid a "special rate" for our night and it definitely was NOT worth it. No amount of money would be worth this hotel. The hotels.ca website definitely goofed with this place. It's a seniors retirement home, not a hotel. We've definitely scratched this place permanently off our list of places to stay when we visit Ottawa, which unfortunately is frequently. Mehr

I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Great renovation are in process now, but the plan looks really realy great. Can't wait to visit when it's all done. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay there again. the room was spacious and had all the amenities that one would would need in a hotel.

Overall the hotel was good for the price we paid. Parking was free, located right off the highway, staff were friendly, etc. Downside was the lack of blackout drapes in the room. The blinds did not block out the sun and made it impossible to sleep during daylight.

It was a bad experience overall. The hotel was under extensive renovation. The foyer was dirty and messy. Worse of all there was no air conditioning in the room. Outside temperature was about 30 degree at the end.

Had a great stay at this hotel. Even though the place is under renovation the staff was excellent and very helpful. All though the main room was a bit small it was well done and in excellent shape. The big draw is the bathroom and shower. Very impressed. I would stay there again.

they were in the process of making upgrades to all rooms while I was there. Which, I understand is stressful on everyone and can cause issues to arise that normally may not. But my issues are serious and would be there regardless. I was moved into a "new" room upon check in. Which was beautiful and I have to say they did a great job with the rooms. […] Couple of negatives though: first problem, the air conditioning is either brutally cold or brutally warm. there is no temperature adjustment. second - they only supply a couple of towels and in the case of the 3 rooms I was moved to during my stay (yes, 3 rooms because they couldnt get it right), towels were shorted in each room either in the form of the towel or washcloth or hand towel. Here's the problem with that now, they actually charge you for missing towels!!! they have a note that they will automatically charge your credit card for any missing towels, alarm clock, lamps, etc. as for internet, I was moved 3 times because they could not find me a room that was able to get the internet signal. The only place in the entire hotel to get the signal was the hotel lobby. That just wasnt convenient for me to work with though. So when I complained the desk clerk told they had never had that problem before so there was nothing they could do to help me and they would not refund me for the night. very unprofessional. they also shutdown the fitness room for the renovations. which again would be understandable if it were not for the sign posted on the wall that said the fitness room would be open during renovations with an arrow pointing where to go. final verdict for this hotel- huge letdown. stay away stay away stay away Mehr

I will be booking this hotel again but was disappointed that the restaurant was closed during my stay. I also would like to be able to have a smoking room for friends who come to see me while I am in town.
