"4 Tage in NO"Bewertet von Katrin K. aus "Stuttgart, Germany" am 31. Mrz. 2012

"Terrible"
I would NEVER stay here!!! Renovations are loud and unacceptable. Rooms are small and are in need of help. They said they would comp us breakfast but it never arrived. Horrible experience!!
"overpriced and poor service"
lets start with they did not tell us the restaurant and bar were being remodeled. blamed hotels.com that we were not notified...poor excuse. room was average in cleanliness and few amenities. can you believe there is still a hotel that charges for internet service? at the price we paid per night, that is bull. then to top off things, i asked for a cab […] that takes a credit card, of course they got me a cab that did not, thank goodness i had some cash. i will not stay at W again. last one was in new york and it was no better than a la quinta. "Our room was not what we booked"
we were not given the room that we booked thru hotels, which was 2 beds, only had a king. other than that the hotel itself was awesome! location, rooms, staff... they were renovating all restaurants so had no dining or bar service, but it was just an overnight stay and with the location had no impact on our trip.
"Good Hotel in the French Quarter"
I have stayed at this W before and love the location. Although a lot of the reviews said this hotel is horrible, our room was in good condition. The restaurant is undergoing a renovation and the roooms are being updated early next year (before Mardi Gras). We enjoyed out stay and the hotel staff was pleasant.

"terrible hotel"
I have stayed in other W hotels around the world, and this one really is bad. Old building with the noise of the elevator non stop, and when i told the lady at the front desk all she could say was " that is the way it is, and we cannot do anything about it". it also did not have a place to have breakfast, only room service. Overall the service was […] poor, the hotel itself even if decorated like every other W, it was old and in bad condition. I was really disappointed. Will not stay there EVER again. Mehr

"W Hotel French Quarter"
Upon reading the reviews of this hotel, I must admit we were worried. We definitely wanted to stay in the Quarter and we're very familiar with the W so we gave it a shot. We arrived at the hotel close to noon and there were no clean rooms available. But within 20 mins they found a room for us and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for our 20 min […] inconvenience!! Our room wasn't the greatest, bathroom needs some love, but the bed was comfy and our view was cute. The location is ideal as we walked to shops, restaurants, bars, and the Superdome. And the staff was awesome!! It's not the lap of luxury but it's loads of smiles and fun! Mehr

"Over priced Extras"
The Hotel was very nice and comfortable. BUT dont stay here if you want room service, movies on demand, parking, or internet. Breakfast Eggs and Bacon 2 Orange Juices pot of Coffee and a Bagel= $61.00 I understand room service is a luxury and I expect to pay more but the delivery charge, service fee and built in gratuity was almost as much as the […] cost of the breakfast itself. We had to pay for internet service...Com'on! That is ridiculous! 3 hrs =6.95 Movies on demand WAY OVERPRICED $16.00 REALLY? Vallet Parking =$40.00 per night If you are not going to need any of the above services its a very nice hotel. Mehr
"Nice, quite"
Nice room. Spacious bathroom w/ slightly cramped living quarters. Tasteful interior. Peaceful courtyard.
"W in French Quarter Depends on Your Priorities"
This hotel is an oddball, shoe-horned into the French Quarter, with a trendy bordello motif in the lobby. The staff could not be more helpful, although we were late to an appointment because the complimentary car (a nice touch) was late arriving. The room was adequate, large enough and clean, yet the crisp lines of the decor demand perfection and the […] details were not perfect. Our view was of a wall but we did not bother trying to change rooms because we were there one night and were mostly out. There is no fitness facility at this outpost of the primary W hotel, about 1/4 mi. away. My daughter and I chose this hotel because of the location, as it is on the nicest street in the Vieux Carre and the great restaurants are all a short walk. The recommendation depends on the guest's needs--it suited ours. Mehr
"This "W" gets a "C""
I was expecting this hotel to be like other W hotels and it just wasn't that great. The room was really cramped, there were things that were broken, it just wasn't up to the standard that the name W hotel conjures up. The staff was great though.

"The W in New Orleans - French Quarters"
I had a great hotel experience. The staff was very friendly and professional and the room was nice & clean. The bed and shower were my favorite, so comfortable and big! I would definitely go there again.
"Great area but . . ."
very small check-in area, no restaurant or bar. we were told the hotel was undergoing reservations and it will be top notch by year-end. have no reason to disbelieve what we were told -- W Hotels are usually nice -- but we would recommend waiting until after renovations.
"Great Hotel, Great Location, BUT...."
Great hotel, Nice rooms, GREAT location, but we parked our car in valet for 2 nights at $34 a night, which was not bad. When we checked out 2 days later we got our car back and there were signs that they had abused the car. The car had about 50 more miles on it then when we checked in. They also moved/messed with personal material. That said, i would […] probably stay in this hotel again because it is a nice hotel and is in a great location, but if I did stay there I would find somewhere else to park the car. I would suggest maybe staying at the other W if price is not a big concern Mehr
"Worse W in the World"
Have just finished a long weekend at the W French Quarter in New Orleans - to say disappointed would not even describe the problems. When we checked in @ 5:30 PM, our bed request could not be met even though I am a SPG Preferred Guest - of course this was better than the couple in front of us whose room was not even ready! When we got to our "Wonderful" […] room we discovered the rooms adjacent were rented to a bachelorette party that was in full swing of drunken young women - after 3 complaints the hotel finally got them to quieten down. That lasted to 3 AM when they came home - tried to call the Whenever Whatever Line to contact Security there was no answer! Finally beat on the wall (paper thin) by the way long enough they shut up. We were then rudely awakened in the morning when they somehow got up at 8:30 AM. I complained to the Front Desk and was told they would attempt to move us to another room - never happened. The girls were quieter Saturday night so that problem seemed to solve itself. While the staff was genuinely friendly the hotel is greatly understaffed - u wait 30 minutes for your car even after you call ahead telling them you are going out. The ending blow was Sunday night when we returned to the room at Midnight after a pleasant evening in the French Quarter to discover that the ROOM HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED OR MADE - NO ONE HAD DONE ANY THING SINCE WE LEFT AT 11 AM. CALLED THE WHATEVER LINE AND ONCE AGAIN GOT NO ANSWER BUT GOT TO LISTEN TO A RECORDING OF HOW THEY WERE DEDICATED TO OUR SERVICE - NO ONE EVER PICKED UP SO JUST WENT TO BED. We have stayed at the W French Quarter on previous occasions BUT NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe this a very poorly managed property and the SPG Group need to make some changes - they sure have not reduced the rates! Mehr

"W Hotel in French Quarter, NOLA"
Walls thin, room small and worn, hotel in need of renovation which may have been in progress, thus they rate should have been discounted. Noisy. No amenities that W's are known for. Good tourist location.
"W New Orleans French Quarter"
Not up to par with other W hotels. Rude, incompetent manager.
"Upgrade December 2010"
There was alot of noise because they are upgrading. Will be wonderful when complete. Location is perfect middle of everthing.
"Staff and location were nice."
I would stay here again, but not if I'm bringing the family. The staff and location were great. However, we'll probably stay a little out of the Quater next time.

"W- in the French Quarter New Orleans"
We arrived a little early and they welcomed us in, had a room ready. The rooms are nice, clean, comfortable, modern, and just relaxing. The staff were all amazingly helpful, and accommodating. The location in the French Quarter is perfect, far enough away from Bourbon but close enough to enjoy everything thing else. The Courtyard was super cool, and […] Chartres Street and Royal Street are right there to eat, drink, shop, and have a nice trip. Mehr

"Great Hotel and Location"
Everything about this place is excellent
"Great Anniversary Weekend"
We're originally from Baton Rouge and have spent a lot of time in New Orleans over the years. So we felt we knew what to expect when we chose the French Quarter location of the W to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We expected a great location, acceptable service, and for the rooms to be nice but worn from years of Mardi Gras revelers. We were […] thrilled to find excellent service and a lovely room with a courtyard view. Best part for me was the down bed and the spacious bathroom with a large marble makeup counter - making getting dressed for dinners at Bayona and August a pleasure. My only complaints: 1. The cover of the ironing board was a wreck making it tough to press clothes. I chose to muddle through it but am confident they would have brought a replacement had I taken the time to ask. 2. The large slate and glass shower was great and mostly very clean, but some mold in the corner was a bummer to see. A sparkling clean hotel shower is pretty critical in my view (although, admittedly, not always easy to come by). Beyond these minor annoyances, the hotel staff was charming and ready to help us with everything we asked of them. The "Whatever, Whenever" policy was in full effect and we used it often. Oh, and the bar is fantastic. Bartenders were fun and knowledgeable on wine, whiskey and the latest restaurant buzz. Mehr
"Great Hotel - HORRIBLE Front desk staff"
The hotel was absolutely awesome - great location, very clean, and quite possibly the friendliest and most fantastic concierge guys I have ever had the privilege to come in contact with - Malik and crew were just AWESOME. Unfortunately, the women who were working the front desk were horrible. The W's slogan is "Whatever Whenever". This was DEFINITELY […] not the case and we certainly didn't have outlandish requests. There were four of us in town to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday. We had called ahead to see if the hotel offered anything in the way of birthday celebrations to surprise her with upon check in. We were told there should was and they would put balloons and champagne in the room. We called the day before our arrival to confirm this was still possible and would be done. We were assured it was and would be. It wasn't and when I called the front desk from the room to ask why I was told that "well they couldn't get helium." Am I foolish to believe that there was no helium to be had in the entire city of New Orleans? The most disappointing thing about this was that had we just been told up front or even during the confirmation call that such a simple request was impossible by the W staff we would have made other arrangements. At one point, the young lady working the front desk barked at me, after I inquired about getting a knife to cut the cake, "I'll get to it when I can. I'm the only one working right now." We were just hotel guests and certainly not in charge of scheduling. The consequence of a thinner shift of staff shouldn't be one of the guests. If it hadn't been for Malik our stay would have been less than favorable. He certainly did anything and everything to make sure our stay was awesome. If only the front desk girls were as accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to a friend, but would make sure they were warned that "Whatever Whenever" really wasn't the case. Mehr
"If the front desk cared about the guest it could have been great"
This was my first W experience and I'm sad to say I was incredibly disappointed by the hotel staff (those working the front desk). My friends and I splurged a bit to stay here for my 30th birthday and they had called ahead and asked if the hotel could do something nice for my birthday - The hotel suggested balloons, and champagne. My friends however […] were very disappointed to arrive and find that they seemed to have completely forgotten despite the fact that they had just called to reconfirm the night before. They eventually did bring up a bottle of champagne after my friends called down to the front desk - but at that point the surprise had already been ruined. They stated they couldn't get balloons because the helium tank was broken. So I'm not sure why they didn't call to let my friends know so something else could have been arranged. Later in the evening we called the "Whatever, Whenever" service to ask for a couple of plates and a knife to cut my birthday cake with. The response was "I get it, you want to cut a cake but I'm the only one working" - at that point after our experience earlier in the evening we realized asking the front desk was a lost cause so we walked to a Walgreen’s and found some plastic knives and paper plates. I only later found out after returning from my trip that my parents had also called the hotel asking if they could send me a bottle of champagne or wine to my room as a surprise on my birthday. The front desk told my parents it would be too complicated because they would have to send them a form to provide their credit card information - I'm thankful my parents recognized the attitude they received and decided against working with the hotel and instead called the restaurant they knew we had reservations with and were able to VERY EASILY arrange for me to have a special bottle of wine with my friends. Upon checking out I heard the lady at the front desk tell another guest she was hired to make miracles at the hotel happen but apparently Mehr
"Dark & tooooo modern"
This hotel was for upscale hippies. The desk had to be cleared to get a small laptop on it. The bathroom sink & the table were separated making some things difficult. But at the outset we were referred to at the front desk as "YOU GUYS." Not Mr. or Mrs. or sir or madam "YOU GUYS." Thank the lord for the bell hops they were great but that and only that […] was the highlight of this hotel. Oh they had a garden view room but gave us a street view room. When I complained they did switch me to a garden view room. Why didn't they give me that room in the first place??? From YOU GUYS. Mehr
"Not bad"
The room given to us was quite noisy --at 6am each morning waking to the sound of construction and garbage trucks did not seem like a nice way to relax on vacation. Given the OFF season time of year, they should have given us a nicer room looking over the pool instead of the building under constrction across the street - as i am certain the hotel was […] not full. NOLA is pretty much a ghost town this time of year. other than that the room was very clean and nice. Mehr
"Hidden treasure"
I hope no one else hears about this gem in the Quarter so I can get a room the next time I need one. It may be 10 or 20 dollars more than a few other hotels, but the jump in quality is amazing.
