The Clarence - Dublin

Das Clarence ist perfekt gelegen, wenn man Dublin erkunden möchte! Wir haben einen Wochenend-Trip mit einem Konzertbesuch im Olympia Theatre kombiniert und hatten den besten Ausgangspunkt. Temple Bar und das Olympia Theatre, sowie Dublin Castle sind zu Fuss in wenigen Minuten erreichbar. Auch die Bushaltestellen für eine "Hop and Top" Stadtrundfahrt […] (mehrere Anbieter) sind direkt in der Nähe. Das Personal im Clarence ist äußerst höflich und zuvorkommend und hilft gerne bei der Planung des Aufenthaltes (Buchung von Konzertkarten, Tischreservierung im Restaurant, etc.). Die Zimmer sind sehr schön eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Perfekter Service! Beim nächsten Dublinbesuch werden wir auf jeden Fall im Clarence einchecken. Mehr

GREAT STAFF AND SERVICE, COULD DO WITH A BIT OF UPGRADE.

This is a very nice hotel with a very nice urban location on the River Liffey. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions of what to see and how to get there.

Bono and the Edge- You need a big upgrade on this hotel. My room could have used a fresh coat of paint, tile had black mildew(?) in the shower. What can I say, was looking forward to staying there in Dublin and was greatly disappointed, should have stayed elsewhere.

This hotel is a good, well run place with a pleasant atmosphere. It's very clean, well located being on the River Liffey and beside Temple Bar and all of Dublin. The only quibble I would have is its price structure. I think it's a good hotel but maybe not a 4 Star. The minibar prices are prohibitive. There is no tea or coffee making facilities in the […] room, no air con, and there was no complimentary bottled water as advertised. We didn't have bathrobes either. But, if these things don't matter too much to you; after all you don't have to avail if the minibar, the rooms and the hotel are very acceptable. The beds are large and comfortable. More special room offers would be great. We used to stay in this hotel before taken over by U2 and there's not that much different, but that is a good thing as they kept all the old features of the place. We felt like we had come home. Stayed during recent Solheim Cup, excellent location, service especially from Hantz was exceptional. We loved it and will be back. Lpocation to Temple Bar and Trinity College was perfect. Friendliness of Dubliners is reknowned and proved true.

the staff were the nicest people i have met. the lady and gentleman at checkin were so helpful, we got checked in very quickly and went to our room. wow the room was spacious, very clean and the bed was so comfortable and huge it was brilliant. we had some drinks at the bar and ate in the restaurant both of which was a very enjoyable experience because […] of great staff and the food was tasty. on returning from a night out we ordered room service and this was very prompt, i had fish and chips and it hit the spot, it was yummy. checkout was straight forward. i will certainly use this hotel again because this hotel is quality and the staff treat you like you are the most important person there. a wonderful amazing stay. thank you Mehr

I loved my room...it was spacious and had a little hallway leading up to the main bedroom. The staff was outstanding...the best I'd ever experienced in my European travels. I felt so welcome and so taken care of, I'd come back in a heartbeat! And, it was close to Temple Bar and everything you'd want to experience in Dublin. Would highly recommend.

Despite our experience explained at the check in question, this hotel oozes class and a desire to deliver perfection. The costs are very reasonable - not only for the accomodation, but also for the fantastic restaurant (The Tea Room) and the Octagon cocktail bar, when you consider how expensive nearby pubs and bars in Temple Bar are ! The rooms are […] classically comfortable, with minimalistic decor but outstanding comfort from the quality of the beds, the linen and the lovely bathrooms. Our balcony room on the 4th floor had a fantastic view over Temple Bar and the rooftops of Dublin. We had no problems whatsoever with any noise from the Temple Bar area. Location of the hotel is near perfect. Overlooking the river on one side, and the rear entrance has you in Temple Bar within 2 minutes. The superb shops of Grafton Street are a short walk away, as are the University and older, more historical parts of this great city. This side of the river is by far the nicest - both to stay in and to tour around. Our meal in The Tea Room was fantastic. Quality you would associate with a true gormet restaurant, and exemplary service. We had breakfast there also and we decided to take beakfast in the room on our last morning - the quality never diminished ! Overall you cannot fault this hotel. Our stay started badly with the mix up over the overbooking for our first night. But the staff did everything they could to put it right and went way out of their way to make sure we were happy with the rest of our stay. They could not be faulted. You have to try this hotel - it is a gem in Dublin and you will NOT be dissappointed - I promise !! Mehr

The hotel was clean, comfortable, cozy, quaint. GREAT location! Would stay again! Was even pointed out on the hop on hop off bus tour twice that I went by! Staff was great. Had to request ironing board and iron as they are not in room. Arrived in 3 minutes so I did all my ironing for the stay all at once. Actually, I liked that...no board hanging around […] room for 5 days. Room was a little tight as you would expect from Europe in a standard lower rate room. Bathroom was great! Bigger than at home! No view but that's what I paid for (or didn't)! I didn't care...I was using room for napping, showering and sleeping. All staff very friendly as you came and went...asked how everything was. Could not have asked for more! The location is the best...in Temple Bar and walking distance to all major sites in Dublin and the BEST pubs and restaurants are at your doorstep! One thing I advises is to buy your bottle water at the store right there on the corner...1/10th the price of what the mini bar price was (as I found out on checkout when i was charged for one). No big deal. You know it will be a lot, right? For the cost of the hotel and what I expected, I was overly pleased. I recommend to it anyone. The one thing I've read is true...no AC there...but in November, you open the window to get fresh air and turn off the radiator. I imagine it might get stuffy in summer in a room with no cross ventilation like I had..but again, November was no problem! Oh, and it was a bit nosiy late at night (not past 3am) but then again I was one of those people out till 2 or 3am so when I got back after several pints, I slept like a baby nonetheless! Do again? Great hotel, staff and service. Right in the middle of the Temple Bar area - means tons of bars and restaurants. If you want to go to bed early - problem - since you might here the tempting noise from the bars. Other than that great location!

The Clarence is a very nice hotel with staff that provided great assistance and service. The Tea Room restaurant was very good and reasonably priced for dinner (but way too overpriced for breakfast). The location is great for the Temple Bar - especially if you want to party all night long. But, if you want to turn-in at a reasonable hour, this isn't […] your hotel. Not having air conditioning, it would have been nice to have the windows open for fresh air. This is impossible due to the late night night (actually to the early morning) noise from the surrounding bars. We wore ear plugs even with the windows closed. Mehr

I stayed for one night in the Clarence Hotel whilst in Dublin on business. I have stayed there before and find it friendly, comfortable and convenient. The rooms are small but clean and well appointed. My only warning to fellow travelers would be to avoid rooms at the back. Mine (405) was typically comfortable and clean but overlooked the well at the […] back of the building. despite returning from my evening at 1 a.m the noise coming from Temple Bar was kind of wild until gone 2. And the heat in the room was stifling. They obviously knew about this and had a small table fan on the go when I arrived. Nice hotel, nice people, friendly and prompt service. But sleep at the front! Good enough hotel, good food, a bit expensive BUT no tea coffee facilities in room - room service is not convenient when you want to work or chat late in the room with coffee from time to time. And they didn't service my room until after lunch which was very disappointing when I returned from morning's activities.

The staff in the Clarence could not be more helpful and the service was excellent. The hotel decor is simple and could do with a few touch ups in places. Our room was spacious and the bed very confortable. However, our roon was on the temple bar side of the hotel and had old fashioned single glazed windows. As a result we got very little sleep from […] the noise outside which continued until 6am. So if you want to sleep either take some ear plugs or insist on a room racing the river. The Clarence is my favorite hotel in Dublin, and it's not just because it is part owned by Bono and The Edge of U2. The staff is amazing, I can't say enough about how welcoming and helpful they are. Jacob the night concierge is truly a gem. The Octagon Bar is a perfect spot to spend an evening with friends. The cocktails are amazing and the bartenders […] are friendly and entertaining, even when they are incredibly busy. Try the award winning cocktails by Szabi If the hotel ever gets updated they need to put in Air Conditioning, plasma TV's, and free internet somewhere in the hotel. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was roomy with plenty of space for our stuff. I loved the bathrobes too. And yes I am a huge U2 fan! Mehr

Hotel was very pleasant but a little bland. Nothing out of the ordinalry for the price. Perhaps the re-build will improve things in the future. Great location though!

Det var umuligt at sove på grund af larm fra natklub og vi kunne ikke få et andet værelse. Det ødelagde hele opholdet.

Vi fikk et knøttlite rom av fullstendig uforberedde ansatte. Utsikten var til en vegg i bakgården. Frokost var ikke inkludert, men vel verdt å ta på hotellet. Restauranten har vunnet masse priser men hadde en veldig smal menu. Baren var koselig men veldig liten og man fikk veldig sparsommelig med informasjon. Jeg vet det var få rom igjen og velger […] å tro at det var grunnen til at vår innkvartering i beste fall kunne ha vært 3 stjernes. Beliggenheten var super. Parkeringen var ekstremt kostbar. Mehr

Excellent accueil, personnel très efficace, très bel hôtel, petit déjeuner parfait. Seul Hic, la situation de l’hôtel sur Temple street qui déverse entre minuit et 4 heures du matin toutes les nuisances sonores de la sortie des Pub. Très, trop bruyant. Hotellet ligger perfekt i forhold til Dublins shopping og natteliv. Hen ad gaden - så er du der! Værelserne har en pæn størrelse og vvs'en fungerer, hvilket ellers ikke altid er tilfældet. Rengøringen er fin. Betjeningen er venlig og meget professionel. Der kan være lidt nattestøj på værelserne der vender ud mod Essex Street (forlængelsen af Temple […] Bar), men mod gården var der fredeligt. Mehr

Hotellet er meget hyggeligt - lidt gammeldags - men særdeles velholdt - og med en super beliggenhed, man kan gå rundt til alle sevær-dighederne.

Oppholdet i hjertet av Dublin ble sikret en god kvalitet under oppholdet på The Clarence. Avstanden til de fleste av byens atrakjsoner var en liten tur i alle retninger ut i fra dette hotellet. Hotellets personale var fantastisk tilstede og ikke minst svært behjelpelig med å gi oss en uforglemmelig opplevelse av byen dems. Både hva gjalt spisesteder […] og severdigheter. Vi skal tilbake til Dublin en gang, og da vil dette hotellet bli en naturlig og selvfølgelig base for nye opplevelser i Dublin. Mehr
