Phoenix Park Hotel - Washington

Das Hotel liegt nur wenige Meter vom Kapitol entfernt. Auch das weiße Haus ist fussläufig zu erreichen. Das Hotel hat uns Super gefallen, guter Service und schöne große Zimmer. Leider ist das parken mit 40$ für 24h sehr kostspielig. Dieses Hotel ist aber in jedem fall weiterzuempfehlen.

Very good location. But we did not have court yard views or street views, our room had a VERY SMALL window with a view of cement and brick. It was not light and airy like somke of the other rooms we viewed as the cleaning lady did her job. This is the second hotel we had booked with Hotels dot com ( the other in New York - The Mela) and I am wondering […] if we are getting the less desired rooms because of the discout price.But the location was goodm, and had an excellent Pub next door. I stop though Washington once or twice a year to visit my mom. There aren't any good hotels in her neighborhood and last year a friend recomended the Phoenix Park. I'm hooked. This is a small, but very nicely appointed older hotel. The staff is wonderful, even loaning me an umbrella on a rainy day. The room I got last year was small, but the bed was […] very comfortable and the room was spotless. This year my room was larger, and the spotless was still a feature. The hotel has a very old world feel, and while the atmosphere is Dublin Irish, it's better than many of the hotels I've stayed in in Dublin (14 times in Dublin, I know what I'm talking about). The location, right across from Union station is wonderful, easy to get a train from New York, or catch the Metro to anywhere in town, or hop on the MARC out to BWI. I've only had one meal at the "Dubliner" restraurant downstairs, and I wasn't impressed with Irish Breakfast. In the evenings the place is always packed. I do like the "The Irish Times" next door, and for me it has a better vibe and better prices. I'll be staying at the Phoenix Park in the future, yes the prices are high, but it's not that much more than other Washington hotels, but the comfort & location are worth it for me. Mehr

Unfortunately there was construction going on outside the front of the hotel which started at 7am so sleeping was an issue. Also, I think that $40 per night for parking was way to high. We parked somewhere else. The room was nicely decorated and clean but very small. It was hard to move around with two people.

Grotesquely overpriced.

My girlfriend and I had a blast. EVERYTHING you want to do in DC is within walking distance. Room was great, room service was great too!

Having entered Washington DC through Union Train Station, the hotel was ideally placed. Upon arrival the staff were friendly, and the room was well equipped. There was an adjoining room, which was obviously locked, through which a bit of TV noise came, and during the day there was rather a lot of car horn noise; this stopped during the night, so didn't […] hinder a good night's sleep. If in Washington again, I would definitely stay at the Phoenix Park Hotel again. Mehr

Overall excellent hotel, very close to the nation Capital and Museum's. The staff was great, very back to basic service and customer service

The hotel was just down the streat from Union Station so we ended up not needing a rental car at all this trip. It was also very conviently located to the National Mall. The breakfeast served by room service was amazing and the pub downstairs had a superb environment and made extreemly good food. One of the best stays I've ever had.

They were unable to prepare a room in 5 hours. Even though I had a reservation I couldn't get into my room and I had to wander off in the streets of DC after traveling for hours. Finally they gave up and placed me in a nearby hotel. They were very unorganized and the hotel itself was very shabby, it ruined my whole trip.

The room is very tiny. The queen-sized bed is a little smaller than a real queen size bed. Room is clean. One block to train station. 3-5 blocks to Capitol. Not many restaurants around.

Hands down it was a great experience. The details about the room forget to mention that there is an iPod docking station in the room. Easy walk to Capital, National Mall, Museums, Verizion Center, White House, etc. Great service, great rates on the room, and I just a joy. Will be back!

I arrived late...around 11:30 pm, and the desk clerk had a surprising amount of attitude that I would have the gall to show up when I did, insinuating that I was lucky to be getting a room.... a room that I had reserved weeks earlier and for which I had paid a very healthy rate. The Phoenix Park is a nice little hotel. They are a bit understaffed, however. Also the rooms are very small by US standards--typical of Europe. Location is good being only a block or so from Union Station. There is construction going on next door so VERY noisy starting at 7:00 in the morning. Phoenix Park Hotel is a wonderfully maintained Irish hotel built in 1922. The staff is pleasant and quick to provide any assistance needed. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The double-bed room we had was not large but was the perfect crash pad after a full day of sightseeing. If someone sits at the desk there is little room to cross at the foot of the […] beds. But remember, the hotel was built in 1922. The beds were especially comfortable and the free internet (WiFi and wired) are a great convenience. Connected to the hotel is the Dubliner Irish Pub which is an authentic Irish Pub & Restaurant. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, this is a restaurant worth eating at at least once. The President dropped in there for his St. Patrick's Day meal. What really made this hotel exceptional was its location: You are mere blocks from Capitol Hill which you can see just down street. Also you are less than a full block from Union Station, the transportation hub for all of DC. Tour buses and Metro buses & trains all leave from Union Station to all points if DC as well as home to a number of both sit-down and fast food restaurants. The doorman will flag a Taxi down for you if you prefer. Or, like we did, we took advantage of one of the two bicycle rental options by the hotel. One rental is located at Union Station. The other, which we used, Capital Bike Share. Capital Bike's Share rental rack is just across the street from the hotel. You can rent the bikes one-way if desired as they have racks near almost every point of interest in DC. So unless you insist on taking your own car everywhere, you can valet it on arrival and not need it again till your visit it over. Overall, we were very pleased on this our first visit to the Phoenix Park Hotel. Great property, great staff, great location. We most definitely look to stay at this hotel again on our next visit. I had two nights at this hotel. The first was excellent, the second was terrible. Not really the fault of the hotel, but of the noisy children who had been put in the room next to me. The parents seemed to have been placed further down the hall, which not only resulted in frequent door slamming, but noise throughout the night. When I complained to […] reception at 22.40, nothing was done. When I had to complain again at 04.00 (!), reception phoned up to the room. So, as I said, not really the hotels fault, but they could place families closer together. As I specifically asked for a quiet room, maybe they could have warned me or given me a room without an adjoining door. The door was very thin and woefully inadequate at providing isolation from neighbouring occupants. On another note, the hotel is in a good location from visiting others sites in DC and is an easy walk from Union Station. I found breakfast in the neighbouring pub OK, but better value options are a short walk away. Mehr

Had some reservations regarding previous reviews of noise from neighbouring rooms and smallness of rooms. Took two teenagers 16 and 14 room was clean,and more than adequate for what is 4 adults.The only compromise is storage with very little, however for a family that did not spend much time in the room and who are happy to keep clothes in luggage it […] was very good. The noise from other rooms may well be as a result of inconnecting doors of which we had two, we either had quiet neighbours or none at all. I would recommend this hotel if you merely want it as a place to sleep and bathe and for the remainder you are out seeing Washington. Mehr

Phoenix Park is one of the Historic Hotels of America. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The bed was very comfortable, too. We had Ana as the housekeeper on our floor and everything was as good as we could have wished. Cotton bath robes were an additional treat. although the rooms were small, they were adequate. Beds very comfortable, location excellent. Pub superb. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great location and friendly staff. The hotel was ideal for a week-end stay. Some people might find the room a bit small but we had no problem with it. It was clean and very comfortable.

at arrival we requested a quite room so they moved us away from the elevator, so that was nice. but they had already gone into AC and it was too cold for me. So I had to call to have it turned off but they could not. so they moved us into another room that had a local heating system which was actually very nice but a bit smaller. It also had a great […] view. In overall, in they way they went about satisfying our requests was very friendly. Then my boyfriend got stomach sickness and threw up in the bathroom making a mess in the middle of the night.. room service was gone for the day but they brought extra towels for us to use. In the morning they promptly came and cleaned the bathroom and were very, very nice about our embarrassment. I did try to use the closet safety box but it did not work. Aside from that, the nice robes and linens were great. The bed was very comfortable to my surprise. I usually have problems with my back so hotel beds are very painful to me.. but not this one. Location was perfect for access to Metro at Union Station, just one block away. Room was rather small, but cleanliness and courteous staff more than made up for it! Plush bed and linens. Soft towels and bathrobes. I would certainly stay again!

Surprise! It's on the historic register --- charm and cleanliness together with a delightful Irish bar/restaurant, including live entertainment, attached. Convenient to the Capitol and to National Museums.

Its a great location, staff very friendly and helpful. Only downside was that my room was very tiny, nicely appointed but not much room to even walk around the bed.

The location was great for the train system. To walk to the Mall you have to pass a half way house, little seedy at night. Hotel staff was great. Restaurant staff very busy, to the point of rude for breakfast.

Great location. Couldn't have been more convienent to accessing all bus, rail and auto parking at Union Station. The staff was friendly and professional, the room was clean and bright. Although we didn't have a chance to spend time in the hotel bar and restaurant, it seemed to draw a large, commited crowd of Washingtonians.

We have stayed at the Phenix Park before and were extremely happy with everything. However, on this trip we were given a very small room with a double bed (we reserved a queen bed through Hotels.com). The hotel clerk was very blunt in advising me that the reservation was for a double bed and if I had a problem, I should contact Hotels.com. The only […] thing Hotels.com would say is that the reservation was for a queen bed. I got an apology from Hotels.com., nothing from the hotel. Mehr

We had a wonderful experience at the Phoenix and would come back in a flash. Yes, the bathroom is small but the hotel was built in the '20's--to be expected. The place had charm. The king bed was super comfortable and the white matelasse coverlet and sheets were pristine. I love staying at the Phoenix Park Hotel. It's an old hotel with the charm and feel of how things used to be. It's super convenient - only a block away from Union Station - and the Dubliner is one of my favorite dining spots in Washington, and it's part of the hotel. But let's not kid ourselves. The hotel was fine, food was great, unfortunately room was small and somewhat cramped. Very convenient to Union Station.

The hotel was very quaint. The staff was courteous and accommodating. I arrived late and they were very gracious. The room was comfortable and clean; proximity to my destination was a real plus! Transportation from Reagan Nat'l was easy b/c it's 2 blocks from Union Station; 2 blocks from Capitol & legislative buildings. Great find!!

I took my 6 year to Washington, DC for the first. And she loved it. We should at the Phonenix which is a lovely Hotel. It was close to Union Station and the metro rail. We were able to walk to a lot of the sights. We took amtrak to Union Station and like I said the Hotel was right down the block. We were able to leave our bags at the hotel and sight […] see until it was time to check in. And was able to do the same thing at check out. The staff was very nice to us. I will stay there again. Overall, our stay was pleasant. There is an Irish pub connected to the hotel which had a delicious menu. Also, Union Station was right up the road, so catching the Metro was very convenient. The only drawback to the hotel was parking availability. There was a parking deck a block or so away which we used.

Good for a quick stop over if travelling. Would not use if you plan on getting work done here. Negatives - There was an annoying 20 minute delay at check in finding the reservation. I needed to call the service desk at Hotels.com to have the reservation. The staff was adequate but not overly friendly or ambitious. - The HVAC unit had only summer and […] winter heating settings. The day room was warm and the room unbearably hot. The best that the staff could do was to advise to turn off the heater and open the window as the heater was on its lowest setting. - The hotel is kittycorner from Union Station. The 3rd floor room with open window was noisy and difficult to get work done in as there was is a steady flow of traffic by the hotel to the station. - Bathroom sink backed up. I advised management and found sink still backed up when I returned to the hotel the second day of my stay. Positive - The hotel is kittycorner from Union Station and very convenient location for the Metro, Marc and Amtrak train lines. - Free Internet - very good connection speed even with wireless Neutral The hotel is a bit run down with frayed towels, wallpaper and worn carpeting. This was a very fair stay for the price. We were able to have an early check in AND leave our bags safely the next day when checking out. The staff was friendly and the accommodations were fine. This is not a luxury hotel, but clean and comfortable for an out of town stay. The only problem I had was they had no water in the vending machine so I had […] to use the $4 bottle in our room our first night. Overall, I really liked the hotel because the staff was attentive and the room was very clean. It is also very convenient to Union Station. The only nit I have to pick is that the bed is too high and too large for the room.

Friendly staff, cute, cozy room with a very comfy bed and nice linens. There was no excess noise, so I had a great night sleep. A short walk to Union Station, so no cab needed. I will definitely stay here again.

Very convenient location near Union Station (Metro) and the National Mall with easy access to other parts of the city; clean room and nice sized bathroom.
