Renaissance Asheville Hotel - Asheville

Smaller room than expected for the price. We did not find a book for the hotel in the room as you normally expect (description of hotel, amenities, hotel facilities).

Within easy walking distance of all of downtown Asheville. Convenient parking. Rooms at end of corridor are on small side. Lobby recently renovated, bar is small. Seems like a good space for groups & meetings.

The location was great, the hotel lobby and beautiful. Our room was nice, I will not say great because of the outdated carpet and our bath tub had a few issues. But overall our stay was nice, it was great to be able to walk every where. We will probably stay there again in the near future. It was well worth the price.

When the clerk is rude to you, it might be a sign to turn around. the hotel was continuing to be remodeled and as a result, the restaurant had been moved and there was a tiny, really, really tiny gift shop, and there was construction debris everywhere on the mian floor. The hotel room wasn't too bad, except for the mold on the ceiling of the way too […] small shower stall. Also, the bathroom itself was tiny, especially for a king-sized room. The view was nice if you could overlook the hwy to see the mountains. One very bright spot -- the man who would normally be the concierge, but was acting as a desk clerk, was extremely helpful. Mehr

Wish I would have known that this hotel is undergoing major remodeling. Looking forward to a nice weekend away, to discover that the check-in desk was a few pieces of plywood stuck together. The room was adequate but does not live up to what I expect from a Renaissance. The room was small, probably due to the age of the hotel, however everything was maintained well. All but one staff member had exceptional customer service. Very disappointed that my Marriott rewards points were not honored due to booking through hotel.com. Totally re-doing the lobby and eating area. would not have stayed there if I knew all this construction going on and would have not paid that much for a hotel under construction!!!!! Not happy with hotels.com!!!!

8:00 am noise woke us up Hotel renovation work at lobby. Loud and very disturbing. 8:00 am !!!! Bathroom very, very small. Room very small

We stayed here for our anniversary, and all it took was a quick mention of that fact to the front desk staff and we got an upgraded room as well as wine and cheese in our room! The hotel was lovely. We didn't eat in the bar or restaurant, but you can walk to SO many fabulous restaurants in 15 minutes or less from the hotel. Everything was wonderful, but you must know that there is no minibar or safe. My only suggestions for improvement.

Awesome! The hotel is great, and since it was downtown we just walked to things. Great stay! The pool and exercise room are the best I have ever used also.

We had a great time. What a fun town we were lucky enough to be there on a Saturday & Sunday to see all of the activities that go on. The people were very friendly and the food was delicious. I hope to one day go back.

The hotel overall service was exceptional and incredibly accommodating in every respect. The bedding was outstanding, as always, and the location is the best in Ashevile if you have any desire to just park your car and walk the streets of this wonderful, art-filled city safely, day or night. My only complaint is the size of the room and bathroom was […] too small for two people to move around comfortably, not that it really mattered as we were out and about the enitre time. Very close to downtown Asheville shops, restaurants, bars. Furnishings were nice, but room smelled funny & had extremely poor ventilation, esp. in bathroom!!! "View Room" was NOT worth the extra money, actually the entire hotel seemed not worth the money. Next time we visit Asheville, we will stay out of town & drive in to shop & eat.

We were very pleased with our stay. The hotel was clean, had a nice TV, nice bathroom, good water pressure. The beds were very comfortable and all of the furniture was in good shape. The location was within walking distance of downtown Asheville, which included plenty of restaurants, bars, and brewpubs. Highly recommend if you are visiting Asheville […] and want to stay downtown. It was great and convenient to everything downtown.

Excellent Location, Amenities! Could do better with the noise factor. Could hear housekeeping & other people conversations in the hallway. Had to roll towel & stuffed it on the bottom of the door to muffle the sound.

The biggest thing going for this hotel is its location. It is located right downtown only blocks from all the restaurants, shops and art galleries on Broadway. The actual hotel is ok, but looks like it could use an update. Be aware that they do allow pets, for some odd reason. I am not sure what kind of people travel with their animals, but certainly […] not normally the types that stay at this level of hotel. There are plenty of motels by the interstate for people like that. It doesn't seem like they designate certain rooms as Pets Only, so you could be staying in a room that previously housed animals. Kind of nasty and certainly not good for people with allergies. Plenty of parking. Wireless internet was free and seemed to work pretty well. Mehr

As always, this is THE place to stay in Asheville! A wonderful hotel with all that you could want and the only one in such a great location, downtown Asheville! We love staying here because it allows us to really enjoy the sights and activities of Asheville. From the hotel, we walked to all of our meals, a concert, and shopping! You couldn't ask for a better location if you want to be around the action in downtown Asheville. Hotel is quiet, clean and pleasant. Easy walking distance to all the downtown clubs, bars and restaurants.

Clean, comfortable room. Walk to fun shops and restaurants. Indoor pool great for kids to burn some energy. It was very cold so we ordered pizza from room service: a very reasonable $10. Friendly staff, nice common areas.

The hotel was located in the center of Ashevillr with many restaurantsand stores were located close by. The room was clean and the service was good.

This is a dog friendly hotel, which I have no problem with, but we were located on a floor that had three very "talkative" dogs. Barking would stop after we complained, but would start back up about an hour later. Fan on AC unit would not stay on for longer than 15 mintues at a time, so I could hear EVERYTHING inside and outside of the hotel. Bed was […] very uncomfortable. Housekeeping woke us up twice in the morning before 9am despite the fact that we were checking out at 11am, and we told them we did not need their service. While checking out, I was NOT asked how my stay was. Mehr

This hotel is located in the middle of Asheville's growing shopping, eating and entertainment section. Perfect location to enjoy the best of the city.

I was moderately happy with this hotel. The location was good - very easy to walk downtown. It was clean and in fairly good shape. Downfalls I would say would be it wasn't up to the usual Renaissance quality. It was a little more expensive than I think it was worth.

We always stay here on our yearly visits to Asheville. The hotel is clean, great rooms and beds and walking distance to downtown shops, restaurants and galleries. Staff are more than helpful, hotel restaurant for breakfast is great. Location is excellent.

I chose to stay at the Renaissance just because it was inexpensive and located downtown. I work long hours and am very busy, so I did some research but I didn't put a lot of time into it, and I wish I had work a little harder to find a nicer place. Although the location is fine (downtown just blocks from everything) and the price was okay, it was older […] and less well maintained than many of the surrounding hotels, such as the new Hotel Indigo, which were comparably priced. When my partner and I checked in we were treated with great hesitation by a young front desk attendant who seemed to be perplexed by the idea of two men sharing a room with one king bed. Though she tried to remain polite and professional, we found it strange that a hotel in Asheville would have staff who couldn't deal with a nice gay couple. The room was okay - it was clean but there wasn't anything special about it. I'm a road warrior traveling consultant and I can say that your average Hampton Inn is nicer and more comfortable than this Renaissance. I generally like Marriott properties and would rank this about a 4 of 10 on the scale of previous Marriotts (including Courtyards) I've stayed at. All told, I would not stay at this hotel again or recommend it, given numerous other options that were equally well priced and located. This was a rare romantic getaway for my partner and me, and overall the experience of the Renaissance Hotel was unimpressive at best. Mehr

Great location to walk around downtown Asheville, NC. Nice, modern, and clean hotel. Comfortable beds and a flat screen TV. Ladies in first floor restaurant were extremely accommodating and nice. This hotel is a short drive to Grove Park Inn (about 5 miles). We will stay at the Renaissance again.
