My husband and I stayed here last week. The location was PERFECT!!! We could walk to everything. The room was a good value for the excellent price that we paid. On our 2nd morning, I rolled my ankle, and it was broken. I spent 9 hours at the ER, and arrived at the hotel at 10pm. I was treated in a courteous manner, but believe that we paid an extra […] amount in the a.m. for a taxi. The priced quoted in the evening was almost 10euro less that what we had to pay. I would look around for restaurants instead of getting recommendations from the staff. Overall, I would stay again. Mehr

We stayed at this hotel for three nights, two nights in one room and one night in a different room. We left a bag with the hotel for one night while we traveled to Girona for the night. That is why we had different rooms. We found it very clean, very comfortable, the staff at the front desk were very helpful and spoke English. Every morning they had […] a board up with the temp, tourist and local activities and most importantly to me was free wifi which worked on both my android phone and our laptop. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel. There is a Starbucks conveniently located plus several restaurants. The cathedral is right around the corner. Very well located for the Bari Gotic area, Rambla, Port Vell, Picasso museum and Catalunya Plaza which is where we arrived on the bus from the aeropuerto and walked to our hotel. The hotel provided bath gel, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, etc. They had a nicely stocked mini bar. My husband is a five star hotel type person but he was happy here. Mehr

Located at the back street of Barcelona Catheral, walkable distance from La Rambla. Close to 2 metro stations. reasonable price. Clean room. Good reception.

Just returned from short city break to Barcelona. Fantastic city - something for everybody. Hotel Regencia Colon - an excellent 3* Hotel. Location excellent and convenient. Second visit - will definately return again.

Great location. Not easy to find. Even taxi driver took some time and turns. Good size room. Noisy at times. Good deal.

Excellent location for sights, food, and transport links; professional staff; spacious and clean room; convenient (but somewhat pricy) parking arrangement with a nearby public parking garage.

Excellent hotel. Helpful, friendly service. Convenient location to many popular tourist sites. Only a couple of small "nits"; (1) my husband's pet peeve: the chairs in the room weren't comfortable. we saty in a room for 3, even though from the booking details they could see we are a family still got 3 single beds. at first were given a room on the 1st floor, wasnt nice at all, old fittings in the bathroom, the bathroom was very small even for one person to make way around bath, toilet, sink,bude. We spent two nights during a pre-cruise visit to Barcelona. It was a brief walk to the On-Off Bus where we purchased a two day pass. We enjoyed the central location and the support of the desk staff.

The hotel has very good location near Bari Gotic, Born and only a few steps from La Rambla. The area can be noisy but don't expect else staying in central Barcelona. The windows of the hotel are old and even when closed some noise get into the rooms. (If you want quiet consider a vacation in the mountains). Friendly and helpful staff. This hotel is in a wonderful location and provides easy accesibility to all the sights of old town Barcelona. Public transportation and the metro were only a couple of blocks away to see the sights of the rest of the city. The hotel is typically european with the two single beds and small rooms. Very clean with Wi-Fi in all the rooms and La Rambala […] is only a quick 5 minute walk away. Hotel staff was very helpful. Will stay here again on our next visit to town. Mehr

We were pleasantly suprised with this hotel. The services and cooperation were great. We were able to do a lot of things with the help of the front office staff. They mde several arrangements for us. We did the Flamenco Show, the Hop-on-hop-off bus trip throug the desk and were recoommended to some very fine restaurants. Breakfast was included in our […] price and it paid off for us. This hotel is located perfectly, the Cathedral is really a minute walk, Starbucks 2 minutes (yes this was a plus for us). The staff was outstanding and extremely helpful. The room was lovely and clean. The only problem was the wall were like paper when the next room showered, went potty, spoke or watched TV we heard it. Very pleasunt and helpful service. Breakfast is not very special so it is better to use small cafes in the close-by area. Rooms are not very soundproof. Left some equipment in the room, which were promptly mailed to me back home. I can warmly recommed due to central location..

've stayed at the sister hotel (Hotel Colon), which is nicer. It has a better location, but for the price difference, we would go back to the Regencia Colon.

While the hotel was close to many amenities and sites, there were few amenities that worked. The TV did not receive any channels and the WiFi was virtually nonexistent. The room was large an clean.

If you want to be close to the top sites of the Barri Gotic, this is the hotel for you. Others complained about the noise, but we were there on a Sunday and there was no street noise at night (can't speak for other nights). The room was very spacious and comfortable with a traditional Spanish feel (we love that because there is a feeling of authenticity). […] The hotel was clean and the desk staff was very gracious and accommodating. The Barri Gotic is one of the most popular tourist areas in Barcelona and for us, that is a reason to stay in another neighborhood (but if you want to be in the center of the Barri Gotic and close to many major sights--this is your place!). Many of the restaurants in the area (of course there will be exceptions) were very touristy (mediocre food and service, and in many cases, higher prices in relation to portion size/quality), so you really want to do your research in advance (and possibly be prepared to look outside of the neighborhood). We did find a wonderful place in La Boqueria, though, which is definitely worth checking out. Another recommendation is not to ask for recommendations on restaurants from the hotel staff--they seem to work with 1 or 2 places and send everyone there. We went to one of the places, and while the food was okay, the prices were pretty high. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay here and give the hotel high ratings in just about every category. Mehr

Great location and very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located in the Gothic Quarter, a stone's throw away from the Barcelona Cathedral and with easy access to La Ramblas. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Would reccommend it to friends and family visiting Barcelona.

I stayed for 2 nights and its was the perfect location to experience the historic area of barcelona. The hotel was right across from the Cathedral. The staff was very helpful and polite with questions and concerns. When I return I will surely visit Hotel Regencia Colon again for my stay in Barcelona.

Stayed in hotel for 3 nights after a cruise, and was very pleased with the accomodations. The hotel is older, the room size was larger than expected, linens and towels were of good quality, but we could hear a lot of street noise. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly, and I would recommend this hotel […] to anyone looking for a relative bargain in the city center. It was an easy walk to La Rambla, Catayluna Plaza, metro, restaurants and shopping. Mehr

The hotel is in a perfect spot with access to restaurants, shopping, tourist bus stops, subway, etc. Good size room, lots of closet and drawer space, small but adequate bathroom, bed fairly comfortable (terrible pillows!), average cleanliness, nice breakfast, nice enough staff but VERY noisy. Thin walls and in a busy area so very little sleep was possible. […] You definitley need sleeping pill and / or ear plugs. They did have a problem with the water which they said was a result of some construction work being done nearby. (not enough water or water pressure in the mornings when everyone was taking showers--had to either shower at night or get up REALLY early before everyone else). Not pleasant, but hopefully not indicative of the hotel--just an unhappy issue that hopefully got resolved. Might stay again if a quieter room was available--we were at the front so maybe in the back would be different. AND I would bring ear plugs! Mehr

We stayed in the Regencia Colon for three nights in October and found it to be very convenient. The room was a good size for a city centre hotel at that price and it was all very well equipped. The room was noisy (but that was a consequence of the location) and it was also hot at times - though that may have been down to our inability to work the air […] conditioning! The main plus point though was the reception staff who were extremely helpful, particularly in ringing round to find another hotel for us at a reasonable rate when our overnight train was cancelled and we had to remain in Barcelona for an extra night (the Regencia Colon was full or we would have had no hesitation in remaining for an extra night) Mehr

Nothing fancy but very nice. Spacious room, friendly, helpful front desk and an incredible location in the heart of the old city.

The hotel itself was great. Room was a descent size, air con worked well, and the location was good. The only problem was the noise. We stayed there during a Festival and there were performances and/or fireworks at the Cathedral every night of our stay. This is right behind the hotel. According to the front desk, there is usually something going on […] at least Friday and Saturday nights at that location in the summer. Do not stay here if you like to go to sleep before midnight. Also, there is no wireless internet at this location. You have to go to the hotel next door with your wireless device. Internet connection is spotty at best. Mehr

Excellant front desk staff. Very helpful in finding things and also they were able to get discounts for tourist activities. Good recommendations. However, they do not offer internet in the hotel. You have to go to the next hotel (a partner of their's) which was a bit annoying.

July 2010.Good location, friendly accomodating staff, excellent room with really good facilities. Our room was on the front of the buliding and we had been warned to take ear plugs - stuff and nonsense -- we slept in the first morning it was so peaceful. Would return the next time we are in Barcelona no probs.

The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The hotel was conviently located. The room was clean and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

This is a wonderful place to stay, right near the Cathedral, easy walk to Picasso Museum and entire Barri Gotic neighborhood. Two minor downsides to this hotel - only one old elevator, so if you're on a top floor, you have to wait a few minutes sometimes for the elevator and the wi-fi in the lobby is almost non-existent. We could however walk across […] the street to the Hotel Colon and access wi-fi in the lobby there. Mehr

Walls are paper thin and window - single glass- no sound/ noise unsulation whatsoever, can hear everything and anything- neigbors, streets, etc. Water in shower- could not keep constant temp- it changes from hot to cold with non control - may be good for those who is looking for "contrast" shower, for me - was just irritating.

This affordable hotel is in an amazing location. Located in the historic Barrio Gotico, this hotel is centrally located close to some of Barcelona's best attractions and nightlife. The rooms could use a face lift, but they were clean and well maintained. I would definitely return and recommend it to my friends and family.

Location great. Short walking distance to many sights. Staff helpful and friendly. Online access only disappointment - had to go to sister Hotel Colon next door to use it. All-in-all two BIG thumbs up for hotel and Barcelona!

Hotel staff very helpful and informative. Only thing missing in the room was a kettle - would have been nice to be able to make a cuppa.

Convenient location. Our stay was very short, and we really wern't in the room much but the room was clean and comfortable.

The Hotel Regencia Colon was a very comfortable hotel. The location was great, in the center of everything and easy access to restaurants, shopping and mass transit. A lot to do just in a walking area. The room was clean and comfortable and I got great nights sleep on the beds. A very helpful staff and would recommend staying there. we were booked for the regencia colon, instead they moved us to the colon, which was next door. i guess the other hotel was booked. no problems though. the staff was nice and right out the front door was the cathedral. great location for seeing the sites. the metro was only one block away. i enjoyed my stay here.

Good Hotel in center . Staff very friendly. Room was good, You could hear your neighbors but it was fine. Price was decent. I would go back. Note: for internet they send you to wifi only at sister hotel across street. Internet cafe with cheap phone calls too is 3 small blocks away.
