Man muss dazu sagen, dass wir vor 4 Jahren schonmal im HOJO Brunswick übernachtet haben. Einfach, weil es eine güstige alternetive zu Hoteln direkt in New York ist. Aber dieses Jahr waren wir sowas von enttäuscht. Die Lobby, wenn man diesen mikroskopisch kleinen Raum so nennem kann, war alt, runtergekommen und dreckig. Die Tapete am Frühstücksplatz […] wurde mal abgeschnitten und ein neuer Streifen angeklebt, die "Pflanzen" waren 100% aus plastik, was ja nicht das schlimmste wäre, aber sie standen vor dreck... Dann unser Zimmer, eher Behausung: Die Tür hatte einen vergleichweise großen Schlitz unten... Der Geruch ist mit Muffig, schimmelig und abgestanden zu beschreiben. Die Betten, waren zwar auf den ersten Blick sauber, aber uralt. Ich möchte lieber nocht wissen, wie die Matratzen ausgesehen haben. Doch die Überrschung kommt erst noch. Wenn man ins Badezimmer geht, den Wasserhahn aufdreht und sich waschen (oder duschen) möchte. Das Wasser riecht am anfang und auch wenn man es ne ganze Weile laufen lässt, nach ERDE !! Richtig nach modriger ERDE !! Ich habe in diesen 3 Nächten meine Ekelgrenze so weit runtergesetzt sonst hätte ich nie überstanden. Nur gut, dass wir den Tag über eh in New York unterwegs waren, aber es ist wirklich gruselig. Achso, und wenn man unten ein Zimmer hat, dann kann man getrost jeden Schritt seiner "Übermieter" nachverfolgen :-( Also NIE WIEDER dieses Hotel. Dann lieber etwas mehr ausgeben und was richtigen bekommen... Mehr

I went here to have a get away with my girlfriend, thank god we didn't book a 2 day trip. The only place with a microwave is the lobby. I didnt want to put my food in there, it was filthy. The floor was dirty in the rooms, there was holes in the walls, i had to stand on the furniture to check if there was a spy camera in them and then put towles in […] the holes. I know for a fact there are drug deals that go on in the rooms. After the stay, someone told me that they picked up drugs at this place once (this is someone that i wish i didnt know). Overall, i'd say spend another $10 and stay at candlewood suites in somerset. I went there the next day and was blown away. Mehr

Great if your a guy, a mechanic or a truck driver. Minor Plumbing Issue that I was able to resolve. I was also a little concerned when I found the back door unlocked and unlatched after a gust of wind blew the door open around 12 midnight. on night 2 of my stay. Furthermore I wasn't very happy to be woken up at 230 am due to a loud disturbance that […] same night. I am thinking the house keeper left the place open by mistake and was surpried that the room had been serviced after I had told the guy at the front desk it was all set. Location is a little tricky but must say that this "Hotel/ Motel" is not as bad as some places I have stayed and, when compaired to the other local "motels" in the area, this place is a 5 star resort. I had a ground floor room which was convienient however, heavy foot steps above could be annoying to some as that was what I was awoken by on morning #1 of my stay. Don't expect much on the TV. The AC worked well and once I found an outlet for my laptop the wireless worked great. In retrospect, if I had had better funding for my trip and done some better palnning I would have prefered to be "Downtown" closer to the college campus but, under the same circumstances as my recent trip, I'd stay here again if need be. The owners dropped everything to help me with my wireless connection right away. Their service couldn't have been better.

I was a bit concerned about the cheap rate. But I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the room. It clean, bed was comfy, and heater worked well. Again, pleasantly surprised. BAD PART is getting into the hotel. It is off a major highway where people go like 60 mph and you have to basically come to a stop to make the turn. Dangerous to get into.

Overall the hotel was good expect the ironing-board was horrible. If possible they should change the whole board or replace the top cloth. Thanks for allowing me to express my view

Don't believe a word you read in the write up. Although it is a cheap, it is worth the extra $10 to stay elsewhere. Especially if you need the internet. The write up says they have WIFI, but it only works in the lobby.

This was the ghetto motel , i go in the room and the table is broken wow , the only good thing about it was the bathroom was a decent size. sucked dont do it i am telling you .

The people were nice enough. The room smelled like paint. Beds were comfortable, towels were very small and scratchy. Could have used an extra blanket. It was hard to get in and out to the road. Did not feel comfortable leaving my belongings in the room to go out to eat. Not enough plugs that take 3 prongs - could not use laptop on the desk for this […] reason. Live and learn. Mehr

the room we had was cold the heat would not work. The room was cheap lookin, online it looked better. I will not be rentin at that location again..

party hotle loud music started about 230 am couldnt sleep from that point on..

Good location and convient, but the room wasnt very comfortable. Bed was saggy. The door looked like it had been kicked in at least a few times and had to be slammed hard to even shut enough to lock it. Maybe this room was featured in an episode of "Cops"

This was the worse hotel I have ever stay in.The room was not in the great condition. The bed spring were coming out of the bed. The bed was really hard. The room had a bad smell it it. The continental breakfast was the worse I ever had. The management hotel staff did not take of this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. If I was Hotel.com […] I would take this hotel from your website. Mehr

Excellent price. Just not up to par. Room stank of deodorant or whatever. Clean, orderly and probably ok for summer since I saw a nice big pool in the courtyard.

The electric outlets were modified to handle TV, refrig, microwave and lamp, nothing worked had to move TV and lamp but then four way adapter would not let refridgerator and microwave work at same time, called office to ask for another adaptor never did get one we were staying four days so we had to got to wal-mart to get extension cord and adaptor […] for charging phones and computer, free wi-fy would not work till we took computers to office then low and behold they would connect then????? It's been a long time since this place was in pristine condition and it shows. It is obvious that this place is slipping into the motel category and there are "long stay" guests on the property. I was in a room that had 2 doors, interior and exterior. One of the chain locks was busted. We mused over how a chain lock gets busted. There was garbage all […] over the facility when we checked in but mostly of the broken bottle type. When we returned in the evening, it was 85% gone. The neighborhood is a demilitarized zone and the property looks like it as well. For all the bad I have said so far, the room itself was quite spacious and clean and so were the facilities (Bathroom), We were sleeping there as a waypoint from a concert to a friends house and for that purpose it served us well. I would recommend this place to those who are brave in spirit and have a little sense of adventure. Mehr

Quiet. Clean enough to have me only mildly concerned about bedbugs. Had to change rooms due to the fact that only one lamp in the room could be plugged in, since the wall outlets were in pretty sad shape. The late-night dude was very helpful, though, so I'm giving them a 3. And in spite of the fact that they're literally pressed against Rt 1 in northern […] NJ, it was remarkably quiet. Huge motel, too, so I was not aware of those in adjoining rooms, even tho the parking lot was about half-full. For a four-hour power nap between late-night travel and an early morning speaking gig, it did what it needed to do: bed, shower, wake-up call. Mehr

I have already contacts Howard Johnson corprate about this hotel. I have never, ever in my life, stayed at a hotel this disgusting, nor been treated so badly in a hotel. I will never pre-pay for a hotel online again, or stay at a Howard Johnson. Hotel was disgusting and nasty. Litterally falling apart. People smoking drugs in the walk ways, couldn't […] understand the people at the front desk, nor could they understand me. Tried charging me for exsisting damage in room, and also for 2 rooms after I demanded a room change. Landscaping completely un-kept therefore making it difficult to even get to your room. Hotel is EXTREMELY difficult to get in and out of due to the route 1 and roue 18 interchange being right at the edge of their perking lot. Wrong address listed on hojo.com and hotels.com GPS (or any map website) will not get you there. If you're lucky enough to spot it on Route 1 when driving by, KEEP GOING. Do not stay here. Mehr

one of the poorest customer service, and they don't even clean the room, when i said nobody cleaned my room, then the answer i got, "I will complain to my manager", that's it...they don't want to give any service to their guest...

I actually stayed 3 days and my room was never cleaned even when I asked the front desk for the service. I never received any more toliet tissue or towels or a piece of soap or coffee, nothing except 2 mini bottles of shampoo that were watered down. The worst stay although the front desk was trying hard to be nice, they came off as very cocky and arrogant. […] Also, the donuts were stale and the muffins were hard. The worst! Mehr

By far, the most disgusting Motel I have ever stayed in. Dirty, filthy, and run down, with electrical problems on top. DISGUSTING! I considering leaving more than once. The only good thing I can say is that I didn't notice anything crawl past. Maybe it was too gross for the vermin.

Smelled terribly!

I stayed here several years ago when in the area for a funeral and this was a decent low cost motel, not much in amenities but comfortable and clean. In a hurry to find a place this time and decided it would be fine to stay here again, but now it was filthy, beds were very uncomfortable, neighbors in room above noisy, and the neighborhood has gotten […] desolate. I stayed here because it was the only place I could find amid the power outage. The towels have frayed ends, the sheets look like they are at least a decade old and the carpet felt damp. The air outside the room on teh night i checked in smelt of weed. Overall, a lousy room.

The online advertisment illustrated a home away from home like atomsphere. False presentation, i'll explain why. After checking in and proceeding to my room, I immeditately noticed an arugement between to adults, the immediate area looked "shady". I had to indur loudness from the room above mine. The people walking around the campus looked somewhat […] suspicious. In my opinion this hotel's presentation was of a "truck stop and rest" type of lodiging establishment. After asking a few of the City's residents in regards to this lodging establishment, they (residents) conveyed to me that this hotel is known for its' criminal history and "shady" atmosphere. I'll quote a certain statement made by one resident, " I'm surprise you car was still there in the morning" or "you always see the cops, ambulance or fire dept there"....Post those two statements I was taken back and wanted to leave and "eat" the remainder balance fee but i stuck it out. I don't not recommend this hotel, I'm sure the franchise is respectful and customer friendly but this particular hotel was quite disappointing. Mehr

For the region where it is located and the star rating, it's very good! Very clean, modern, confortable.

The staff were very nice and friendly. I thoroughly appreciated that. However, the condition of my room was horrible. I have never been to NJ before, and staying in that hotel made me wonder if health codes were different in that state. I could barely breathe because the room smelled like mildew. They were kind enough to provide me another room, and […] the second room was much better. However it did not change the fact that all my clothes smelled, and my hair smelled after leaving the hotel.
