Helpful hotel staff

it is good hotel to stay. Just a little bit old but very clear. when you close the door, it will make big noise. The restaurant make the food very good but just need wait half hour for your food

Very nice place with large rooms within walking distance of King Street and all the restaurants, as well as other neighborhood eateries. Very quiet, shuttle to Reagan, full grocery store across the street with a cab stand. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Staff helpful and friendly. Room was clean and quite attractive. One down side was the rather noisy fan for the heat/air in wall unit, as,mentioned a previous review. Easy access to GW parkway and Alexandria old town. 24Hr supermarket across the street.

Everything fine except for the hot tub that they have and is full of plants! we couldn't use it ! very disappointed about that.The rest great!

It was myself, my husband and our 2 girls. We went to DC and it was very nice. I thought paying for parking was silly, but we did it. The girls wish the indoor pool would have more hours. The over all stay was very nice.

I expected a good service and it was met. Only 1 thing to complain about. You have to PAY for parking! My opinion about being in a hotel is that you should not pay for parking.

I have done alot of traveling lately and this is now my fav. hotel!!! The staff was very helpful and courteous they observed the do not disturb sign and the only reason they knocked was to deliver room service. The food was wonderful and had great flavor. There was a grocery store right across the street. Yes I will agree that the internet was slow […] but I only had to check emails so it was fine for that. I will be coming to DC alot more and this is where I will stay every time!!!!!!!! Mehr

The $50 dog fee is a little much, but overall it's a comfortable place to stay in the historic area of Alexandria, VA.

Great time!

I was given a suite which was very large and pretty comfortable. I had a good hamburger and French fries in the hotel restaurant and a perfectly fine bowl of oatmeal for breakfast from room service. Only downsides - the carpet had a bad stain, and the bathroom was not 100 percent clean. Also the heat turined on and off loudly throughout the night and […] blew cold air at first each time. Hotel staff was courteous, helpful, and very friendly. Suite was fabulous! Rest of my family had used other booking sites, and paid more for less of a room. Thanks Hotels. com

You will need a car as this is some way from the Metro but the hotel is very close to the GW Parkway and to the delights of King Street. The staff were friendly, there is ample parking underneath and the rooms were comfortable. I would readily stay there again.

I am a heavy-duty business traveler and stayed at this hotel before. It was borderline a year ago; it is now unacceptable. From missing darkening shades on the window, to broken handles on the dresser drawers so I couldn't open them, to a broken toilet paper holder, to no wash rags (so I cut a bath towel into quarters), to rips and holes in the drapes, […] to bed linens that weren't changed - even when I put a sign on the bed, to no condiments for the coffee, to unemptied icebuckets....really? I realize it's just a Holiday Inn, but the things I listed are basic for any hotel - not high-end hotels. I stayed in a $70 hotel the week before in San Juan Capistrano that was 1000% better than this dump that I definitely overpaid for. Mehr

This charming hotel is in the heart of Old Town. I loved it for it's walkability to King Street and the spacious lovely room. I will definitely stay here again.

Tha hotel is comfortable, it has a good price, the people very helpful. We hardly recommend it.

Obviously a somewhat older hotel, but the location was perfect, the staff were competent and friendly. I would readily stay there again.

Great place to stay, and in a nice neighborhood. There was even a grocery store across the street, talk about convenient. They have a bar and cafe inside the hotel. The pool was nice, just weird how it was configured, and where it was. The free shuttle to the Reagan National Airport was awesome, made travel to D.C. MUCH cheaper. The only cons were that […] you had to pay extra for a fridge, and to park under the hotel. Overall a great place to stay. Oh, and Moe is an awesome guy! :) Mehr

It was nice inside the room, was nice with a nice patio was a plus. But there was no ac and it was in mid may. The fan was the only thing in use. I didn't like that and it made the night un-bearable. Other than that, Loved the room, the downstairs lounge bar-eating area was small and nice. I had no other complaints other than the ac.

Location is great. Even has a grocery store across the street for convenience. The bad part was the carpet had red stains on it. I found hairs in various places; tub; bathroom floor, nightstand, toilet seat. The cleaning crew must be losing their eyelashes because I found some of those too. The red stains were by the bed, table and tv area. Who knows […] what that is from. We didn't get to use the pool, so I can't comment on it. We had breakfast included for the two days we stayed there. Both mornings we were asked if we has a breakfast coupon-which the front desk didn't bother to give to us. The waitress had to call the front desk with our room number to check to see if we had breakfast included. I can understand the first day but on the 2nd day too? Can't she remember us? There were only about 10 people who ate breakfast each day...The hotel was not booked to capacity even though it was Easter Weekend. The lobby is nice. Our room smelled to me. My husband said he couldn't smell it. We changed rooms but the same smell was present. It smelled like bad mens cologne. Maybe it's just their deoderizer. I'd have to say they need to get a better cleaning staff or inspect the rooms better. Finding the hairs and seeing the stains were not pleasing. They definitely need to change the carpet when there are bad stains like in our room. The staff at the front desk were excellent. We needed toothpaste and it was brought up quickly. We needed more towels and a refrigerator and this was brought up immediately also. The bed was clean and comfortable although my husband didn't like the pillows. We had dinner one night and the kids ate for free. This was a nice bonus that we didn't know about. Mehr

Stayed for 3 nights to take family to DC area. Nice room, nice indoor pool for family, nice fitness center. Friendly people in restaurant and at the desk. I added breakfast to room, and it was a good deal, nice buffet, friendly staff, full seating area (vs. other places where the buffet area is an afterthought with limited seating). Metro was a long […] walk, but free shuttle available. Only issue was no fridge ($10/day extra), and fairly limited selection on TV (PPV to get Disney channel??) Mehr

The rooms and very clean and nice. The staff was very helpful. Shuttle drivers were prompt and very helpful with which route would be better for just about anything we wanted to do. Would go there again but would make sure not to eat at the hotel. Tried restaurant and pizza shop both were disappointing for the price. The price of the pizza was outrageous […] the quality it is something that Tombstone would out do. Overall I would say that it is a good place to stay. Mehr

Of all the hotels I have ever stayed in over 20 years this is by far the noisiest. The walls are thin to the point I can here the neighboring occupants use the bathroom. I expect better for the rate I am paying.

The motel was very clean and the parking convenient. However, it would have been nice to have complimentary coffee in the lobby (no coffee, and definitely no breakfast). $20 to park the car was ridiculous. The indoor pool ridiculously small. But if you just need a place to stay and want clean and comfortable, this will work but you pay for it. No extras […] at all. Mehr

The hotel was ok - clean, comfortable and in a pretty good location. There had been a major storm the day before so I'll cut them some slack on the AC being off-line - they came and fixed it while we were out. Drawbacks: no hairdryer in the room and it took 45 minutes to get one. Roomservice couldn't provide a corkscrew for our room and suggested that […] we could get one from the bar downstairs. When I got there they advised that they only had one but we could bring the bottle down and they would open it for us. Annoying. If you just need a place to stay and are a prepared traveler it wasn't so bad. Mehr

The good things:within walking distance to my family for a visit, could walk to water and park and downtown area, restaurants and shopping, cost reasonable, staff efficient and friendly, grocery store across the street, swimming pool, big enough room and clean, safe neighborhood. Full breakfast was included in room cost and it was very bountiful; many […] choices. Security was very good. Negatives: cost of parking but I easily parked on street for no cost. Beds were very uncomfortable, hurt my back, noisy room over overlooking cafe, could hear people laughing early in the morning. Mehr

I would not stay here again! We booked a King suite (corner room). As soon as we checked in we found our neighbors to be very very loud so asked for another room. They gave us a smaller room with two double beds and no jaccuzzi. We inquired about the price difference and were told to contact Hotels.com. Also, parking is in the back of the hotel in a […] garage with max clearance of 6'2". We have a SUV that would not fit so had to find street parking for our stay. After our stay I contacted hotels.com to inquire about the price difference for the smaller room and the holiday Inn told them it was all they had and bed size did not make a difference. We also waited 50 minutes for dinner when eating in their restaurant, and we were the only people in there at the time. Lastly, we did not have extra blankets in our room. I had to call the front desk three times before (in the course of 2 hours) before housekeeping brought one up. It was bedtime for the kids.... Again, I would not stay there again Mehr

The staff were very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The room was in immaculate condition. The pool was nice and warm and my son swam in it at least 3 times! The remolding was very nice. In door parking was great! All in all it was the best experience I have ever had at a hotel.
