Clean hotel with friendly staff. Bed was very hard and spotlights in parking lot were annoying at night as they were directed right into our 3rd floor room window. Even with darkening curtaining, it prevent room from darkening.

The Fairfield Inn at Charlottesville was a good stay for us. We just needed one night before visiting Monticello. The room was very clean, as were other areas of the motel. We didn't get a chance to use the exercise room, but it was conveniently located and also very clean. The continental breakfast had good quality items, was well-stocked and constantly […] being tended to by staff. I especially liked the casual dining area for the breakfast, ample room for guests to grab a quick bite at tables. Though the motel was north of town, it was still only a short drive to downtown restaurants and to Monticello. Mehr

The hotel was obviously recently renovated. They replaced everything but skipped the most important part...the beds! The beds were small and old/stiff. The pillows were not that great either compared to those at Hilton chain hotels. Overall I would give the hotel a 3.5 -4 stars.

Only 1 person working in the evening at the front desk. We had to wait quite a while to check in as there were 2 groups of people in front of us and the phone kept ringing. Nice, clean hotel, great breakfast, friendly staff, but need 2 people (at least) working to check guests in

We stayed here for 1 night because we were in town to visit Monticello. The hotel looked new or had recently underwent a renovation. The hotel and room on first floor was very clean. The staff at the front counter seemed very nice and able to answer any Q's you needed. The breakfast area was large with multiple flat screen TVs. The attendant walked […] around greeting everyone. The coffee was hot + avail food was make your own waffles, bagels/english muffins, muffins (soft and moist), fruit, yogurt, etc... I would def stay here again if I were in town. Free internet incl Wifi in the room and breakfast area. Newspapers available as well. There is a food lion located next door. The drive to downtown or UVA campus was only 10 min and Monticello was roughly 15-20 min. Mehr

This was the cheapest (nice) hotel we could find in the area we needed to be in -- took our son to the UVA children's hospital in Charlottesville. The hotel was easy to find, though parking spots were a little competitive after about 4pm. It's right next to a Food Lion and an Applebee's, so if you forget something or you want a hot meal without searching […] high and low, this is a great location. It was easy for us to navigate around to a park and to the children's hospital within 10 minutes. The staff were very friendly and gave our kids complimentary bath toys when we checked in. The hotel has recently been renovated, so some of those smells still lingered -- our room could have smelled a little fresher than it did. We also felt that the room was a tad small for a crib and 2 double beds, but for one night it suited us perfectly fine. Breakfast was good - they have a waffle maker and an assortment of cereals, muffins, fresh fruit, etc. Very comfortable overall. We'll definitely book here again the next time we go to Charlottesville. Mehr

Changed rooms because TV was snowy and you could not tell what was on. Next room was no better. Lady says "we are going to have the super bowl on out here in the common area if you want to watch it." WHAT? We left the hotel to watch the Super bowl. The toilet seat was crazy loose, and the next morning the waffle waitress hurried us up like she owned […] the place. Went to leave and nobody was nowhere in sight. We just left. good riddance. Mehr

Our room was clean and spacious. The bed was super-comfortable. Location was only 7 min from UVA where the concert we were attending was. Reasonably priced w/free breakfast!

Considering the hotel was under renovation and you had to go through the food lion parking lot to get there it was great. We enjoyed our stay there very much. It was clean and the staff was super.

Wish we would have known that the Fairfield Inn was undergoing a major renovation at the time of our stay. The positive side was that we were only the third guests to stay in our newly-redecorated room. Less convenient were the breakfast room and main entrance, both of which were construction zones. The staff were friendly and did their best under the […] circumstances. Still, I think the hotel should have offered guests a special rate (perhaps 2 nights for the price of 1) since they didn't provide any advance warning of the work underway. Mehr

The hotel was undergoing some renovations. The staff minimized the disruption so it was really no problem.

I have been to some Fairfields that had the most comfortable beds I have ever been in. This room was average, but I would stay there agtain.

Although the hotel is in the middle of basically a strip mall parking lot, the pool is out back and secluded enough that when everyone else left and my wife and I were the only ones there, it was peaceful and quiet. Rooms were clean, service good, breakfast was good for continental (the make-your-own waffles were actually quite good). Easy access to […] all parts of Charlottesville, including some pretty good restaurants near the hotel. Our favorite part of our visit was a hike through the Ivy Creek Nature area, which is only a mile or two away. A beautiful forest hike directly around a quiet, secluded reservoir with several small "mountain streams" feeding into it, even though you aren't really "in the mountains" yet that far east, just the foothills. I'd give it the same "hike value" as several other day hikes we've taken on skyline drive (the actual Blue Ridge Mts) but it was 5 minutes from our hotel and just outside of the city. GPS took us to a Food Lion parking lot ...which turned out to be correct. You drive through a supermarket parking lot to get to the hotel. Beware, there is a second Marriot property far more visable off the same sidestreet. Once found the hotel is very adequate and inexpensive in the market.

Great job - responded quickly to the need for a crib that did not get communicated to the hotel from the time of reservation. Friendly and professional.

Good hotel all around. Even asked for a late check out and got it. Very accomodating

This is a pretty decent hotel and good for the bargain rates. Unless you have a vehicle, which I would recommend having in Charlottesville, the location is not that convenient. The staff was very friendly and the free continental breakfast was not bad. Other than that, there weren't many amenitites. Also, the water pressure in the bathroom was a bit […] lacking, which is somewhat of a big deal for me personally. Generally, the hotel was good for the price. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to spend a cheap two or three days in Charlottesville. Mehr

Courtous staff, nice breakfast . Clean and comfortable.

All the employees of Fairfield Inn by Marriott Charlottesville were wonderful. There were a rather large group of our family there for my daughter's wedding. The night clerk, Bertha was friendly and helpful and took care of extra requests we had. We had a very good breakfast in the dining area and the servers were kind and helpful and even did special […] things for the children. The manager gave us a special welcome and graciously made available the use of the dining room and adjacent lounge to visit and play board games during the day and evening. (We were not rowdy) Indeed, all the workers were always helpful and made us feel at ease. The staff went above and beyond what you would expect at a hotel. It really meant a lot to us how much the Fairfield staff facilitated our family reunion/wedding. Mehr

Room was basic and clean. Nice flat screen TV. Beds were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was basic and adequate, but no more. WiFi had to connect at first in the hall but then worked fine in the room. Overall very good value for the price.

My check in was uneventful however my evening was not. I woke to water dripping from the ceiling of my room at midnight. I called the front desk and they said someone would be up to check. I waited a half hour and no one came. I started calling the front desk at that point and no one answered. After another 15 minutes I packed my stuff and headed downstairs […] to the front desk. When I got to the elevator a hotel employee was in the hallway spraying for smoke smell. She said she was the front desk person and that she was the only employee at the hotel. (Can you imagine if I had been on another floor and missed seeing her - getting to the front desk to find no one there? ) I told her I was the one with water dripping in my room and she said the toilet in the room above me had overflowed. She did not seem concerned and I realized that no one was coming to check on the matter. I asked her to change my room. We went down to the front desk and she searched for some time for another room, but found a handicapped room for me. She seemed to think it was an upgrade because it had a king bed and the room I had before was 2 fulls. I dragged myself and my stuff back up to this room (by myself) and tried to sleep. The hotel the next morning did not seem to think this episode was a very big deal until we seemed very displeased. After quite a bit of discussion they finally agreed to refund our room rate. Mehr

Excellent value. Great place at a great price if just passing through Charlottesville. The staff was friendly and very helpful in recommending places to dine nearby. Convenient location (sorta, once you find the place; don't mix it up with Marriott's Residence Inn down the street). This hotel was very nice and a good breakfast. The only thing wrong was the directions on the map given by hotel clerk to get to Monticello. Trying to follow them, we got lost for almost 2 hours. We finally found our own way and then we went to the shopping square and found a way back that was less than 15 minutes from hotel. We went back to Monticello's […] the next day following our own directions in about 20 minutes. Mehr
