Als Vorübernachtung für eine Kreuzfahrt völlig o.K. zumal das Hotel den kostenlosen Busshuttle stellt. Falls man zu Fuß Richtung Las Olaz Blv. geht, sollte man schon darauf achten, wer in der Umgebung rumläuft ( im Dunkeln besser mit dem Taxi fahren), da einige Obdachlose rumhängen.Aber das ist ja in Deutschland auch nicht anders. Frühstück für amerikanische Verhältnisse o. K.

In dieser Preiskategorie sicher eines der besten Hotels. Saubere und moderne Zimmer. Gutes Frühstück, sehr nettes Personal. Einzig negativ ist die Poolanlage. Mobiliar verbraucht und lädt nicht zum planschen ein. Pool ist auch sehr klein. Habe keine Gäste gesehen die sich dort aufgehalten haben. Aber ansonst sehr zu empfehlen da in kurzer entfernung(3min. Fußweg) Supermärkte, Restaurants und andere Geschäfte vorhanden. Von 6 Hotels in dieser Preisklasse die wir in Florida besuchtt haben, eindeutig das beste Hotel.

Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm. Allerdings war die Klimaanlage sehr kalt eingestellt.Man hat sofort gefroren wenn man das Zimmer verlassen hat. Ansonsten schöne grosse Zimmer mit Wohn - und Schlafbereich. Sehr gute Lage direkt am Strand und auch der Oceandrive ist nur 3 Automin. entfernt. In der direkten Umgebung wird gerade ein Hotel komplett saniert. Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

"Das Hotel Breakwater liegt direkt am Ocean Drive.."
... was natürlich sehr schön ist, denn man ist mitten im geschehen und muss nicht erst mit dem Auto/ Taxi irgendwohin fahren. Leider muss ich allerdings sagen, dass die Bilder auf der Homepage dem Original leider nicht gerecht werden. Wir hatten z.B. ein Zimmer zum Courtyard was im Klartext heißt, wir konnten von einem Fenster direkt in die Nachbarzimmer […] schauen und vom anderen Fenster direkt in die benachbarte Küche schauen (und umgekehrt). Die Zimmer selbst sind schön und auch sehr sauber und das Badezimmer sehr geräumig. Allerdings sind die Fenster nicht isoliert und so hat man auch wenn man bereits im Bett liegt noch etwas von der Party die jeden Abend auf der Straße stattfindet. Mein Fazit: Für so einen recht hohen Preis kann man viel mehr erwarten - auch wenn ich dafür direkt am Ocean Drive wohne!! Mehr

Schönes Art Deco-Haus. Fast zu fest im Trubel mit Dauerbeschallung auf der Terrasse am Ocean Drive. Sehr schöne Zimmer und ruhig, zumindest auf der der Stadt zugewandten Seite.
"Super Lage, schöner Art Deco Stil"
Leider ist Pool-Area bis Frühjahr 2012 nicht fertiggestellt. Momentan hat man daher einen Baustellen-Blick. Aber nicht so schlimm. Das Hotel inkl. Depandance ist gut gelegen und neu und schön renoviert mit allen Annehmlichkeiten. Bis ca. 01:00 Uhr spielt die Band im Innenhof, vorher muss man nicht schlafen wollen....

Hotel Staff was superb! Everyone was extremely accommodating and friendly. Amenities are lovely and location perfect if you want to be in the heart of south beach.

"Loud and Misleading"
LOUD!! The rooms are super small. I paid for an "ocean view" room and what I received was a view of the street and a few palm trees as well as parked cars!! I could not see the ocean! Not to mention my room was directly above the valet parking both. I am in my early 30's and would not recommend this hotel to anyone over 21. There is no parking and when […] you arrive to check into the hotel you have to wait for a valet parking guy to show up so you can get out of your vehicle to grab your luggage and check in. I was waiting for over 30 minutes!! I definitely would not stay there again. Mehr
Hotel good location, courtyard room next to Dance Club Music courtyard. Hotel gives you earplugs, so if you want to stay up until 3am each night then this room is good for you.
"Great hotel but too noisy"
Top shelf hotel service, very friendly and efficient. But surrounding area is extremely noisy, with concerts and dj at hotel going at least till 12-2 in area. If you intend on semi-quiet nights think again. If you're there to party-this is the place! Great beach front access and otherwise convenient.

I enjoyed my stay. Hotel food and drinks are expensive but the location is great. The staff were very kind and the atmosphere is trendy.
"Sleepless Night"
Checked into the Breakwater and explained we had an early morning flight, where did they put us, the room right next to the band and dancefloor. At 10.30 we rang downstairs and explained that we couldn't sleep, staff were so rude and offhand and begrudgingly moved us to a completely silent room. Very poor service! We had to asked (a few times) for every single item we needed in our room. The front desk staff were super rude and not helpful at all. In 5 days the only cleaned our room twice without bringing new towels!!! No trash can in the room (Although I asked for it 3 times) . Also the internet connection was very slow. This was the worst […] hotel I have ever stayed in. You can get a better service at a motel rather than this hotel. Never stay at this hotel! Mehr
"Hotel Breakwater - in the heart of South Beach"
Everything was fine at this hotel, except for one thing. We came back from a club at 5 am in the morning to the hotel. At this time, the outdoor white umbrellas were being pressure-washed. I noticed a cleaning smell, but didn't think anything of it. The next morning, I noticed my brand-new black shirt was covered in tiny, tiny bleach dots. When I asked […] the hotel management about this, they referred me to the on-site restaurant. This restaurant referred me from one manager to another, who said they'd take care of it, and that they would contact me. I've contacted them many times, and shown them the shirt, but to this day, nothing has been done. It kind of upsets me that no one follows through with what they say they will do. Other than that, the rooms can kinda get noisy from the outdoor dance club and restaurant down below. Comfortable bed, and nice shower with an overhead rain shower. Mehr

Modern hotel just across from the Art Deco centre in South Beach Miami, the rooms are a bit on the small side but very modern, comfortable and clean. We were here during spring break and there was no disruption from other guests or the street which surprised us as the music was very loud at street level. Would stay here again!

LOVED the breakwater! It smells fantastic inside. And the location is perfect!! On Ocean, but not one of the tacky little hotels, like the others nearby. This one was very cute and clean. Rooms were very modern and large, for South Beach. Friendly staff. Not too loud either.

Right in the heart of the action. Beautiful people. Great staff. Well maintained hotel. Breakfast was not up to my standards. Bothersome situation are the restaurant employees of all the hotels in the area hustling the sidewalk pedestrians to get them into there sidewalk cafe's.

Everyone knows South Beach is a party area, but boy were we surprised. Our room was facing an outdoor club and the party went on through the night. I fully expected it to go till midnight or 1am, but not 3-4am. The hotel staff was helpful in moving our rooms, albeit 1:30am. Some of the hotel staff was not as willing to work with us, others understood […] and were very helpful (including the manager). The room was beautiful and very relaxing once we moved. I had an issue with the valet service company. A pair of iPhone earbuds were stolen. Todd was gracious to give me a pair of his earbuds as he had extra. On our final morning, we had breakfast at NINE, the restaurant at the hotel. We walked up at 10:55. Apparently they change the menu at 11am and things are half the price and more options are available. We felt it was dishonest for them not to tell us and when we confronted them about it, we were lied to and told it was a brand new menu. Well, brand new menus do not come out looking used. Stayed in a centre room on the 3rd Floor of the original Art Deco building. Excellent modern interior refurbishment. Fun pool. Great service. Only downside was the noise from outside till late at night. Probably could be easily fixed if the hotel put in double glazed windows. Would have been nice to be able to get cafe service for breakfast at the hotel. […] Complimentary sparkling wine in the lobby was exceptional. I would go back again and recomend it to others. Mehr

A wonderful little hotel. Newly refurbished in excellent taste. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Caveat - stay away from the rooms in the north corner of the hotel overklooking Ocean Drive. While they are beautiful, street music from the resturant next door to the north is a serious problem.
"Hotel Breakwater"
Close to all the South Beach action (just down from the Versace mansion). We were upgraded to a small suite with rooftop terrace, hot-tub, and bar. Very comfortable, clean and far enough away from the street below to be very quiet. Just there one night but great!... Beach access with towels and chairs. Great Cuban restaurant recommended just down the […] street. We were lucky enough to have fabulous very warm sunny January weather. We were well taken care of by Nathan. He was a joy! Mehr

Very clean, comfortable, and modern room. Convenient location. The noise from the courtyard next door is loud enough that sitting in your room at night you might as well be inside a very loud night club yourself. This music stops at 2 or 4 am, depending. If you need to turn in "early" any of the nights during your stay this place is not for you - at […] least not the room I had. "Lovely stay"
I stayed 3 nights in Jan 2012. Had a courtyard view and it was absolutely dead quiet. The room was newly renovated in the last year and was very nice. Very good size with beautiful bathroom. I highly recommend.

I read a lot of negative reviews about noise complaints with the surrounding hotels... but my room was located in the inner courtyard and there was zero noise... even on New Years day with the parties still going on in the street. "Nice classic SouthBeach experience"
The feel of the hotel was great - evokes '50s era art-deco southbeach kind of experience. Newly remodled rooms - great showers, etc. But still had the older charm. HOWEVER, there was (no kidding) a jackhammer that started at about 10AM during my stay (Dec 17) which was part of the renovation. Not nice when i had one of the worst hangovers ever after […] a night out. Great location, right in the middle of everything, and they had pretty good food and outside club. No hot tub...but a great pool if it were a little warmer. Beach access and free chairs / towels. Very very very slow elevators. Mehr

New Year's Eve at the Breakwater should have been great, but room vibrating music playing until 5:30am is not cool! When we complained we were told it was supposed to stop at 3:30am which is still ridiculous give the amount of money we paid for a room and not sleep.

Just spent one night here (New Years day) and I wished I could have stayed longer. This hotel is new, modern, and clean. I'm big on clean. Most hotels on South Beach are old and have rooms that are in need of much renovation, updating and thorough cleaning. This hotel room actually matched the pictures online. The lobby wasnt spectacular but modern […] and inviting and the rooms had comfortable beds and really nice large bathrooms. The rainfall shower head was great and the extra wall mounted shower came in handy when I didn't want to wash my hair. Check-in isn't till 4pm and they were totally booked so they couldn't give us an earlier check-in even though we requested one. However they held our bag for us when we arrived, and after we checked out as well which gave us a lot of extra time to go to the beach and shop. The included beach chairs and towels was very nice and convenient. Sadly, even though our room overlooked a finished pool, they said it was still under construction and could not be used. I'm assuming this was some kind of city permit issue. For the price, I think this was a great deal for 4 1/2 stars and much better than any of the other 4 star hotels I've stayed at here. You can't beat the location and I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again the next time I'm in Miami. Mehr

Tanya and the managment team were very helpful and made our visit a memerbal experience! The room we shaded in was recently reimaged and had sound proof windows - we enjoyed the energy of South Beach during the day and slept great at night with our quit room. We will be back!

pros- nice room, modern, friendly staff, close to the beach. cons- pool and restaurants not open (3months overdue), partial ocean view=no ocean view. Rooftop lounge rarely open and when it is, it's usually for a private event. Should be nice once pool and restaurants are open.
