Britannia Sachas Hotel - Manchester

Es gibt hier sog. internal Rooms ohne Fenster, die deshalb selbst im Winter total stickig sind. Ich hatte ohne es zu wissen über Hotels.com ein solches Zimmer gebucht. Vor Ort lässt sich nur bei Verfügbarkeit und natürlich gegen Aufpreis ein Upgrade auf ein normales Zimmer bekommen. Ich würde dieses Hotel nicht nochmals wählen.

Das Hotel hat mit Sicherheit seine besten Jahre hinter sich und ist in fast jedem Bereich renovierungsbedürftig. Auch ließ die Sauberkeit der Zimmer zu Wünschen übrig, die Fenster wurden seit Jahren nicht mehr geputzt. Obwohl wir ständig außer Haus waren, hat es der Zimmerservice nicht einmal geschaft das Zimmer zu betreten. Das befahren des Fahrstuhls […] war jedesmal ein Abenteuer. Ebenfalls total veraltet. Positiv ist das Restaurant heraus zu heben, sehr gute Preise, gemütliches Ambiente mit einer schönen Bar. Auch die zentrale Lage ist sehr gut. Mehr

Hotel was in a good location but didn't make up for the room... Didn't even have a window.

It was fine. No windows in the room which was good as i hate the light waking me up. Very central so good for the trains we had to catch. Bar open for residents which was great considering this part of Manchester closed at 11pm.

The bathroom was dirty with moulds and chewing gum on the floor. The reception needs some refurblishment. The total customer service is very poor!

This hotel has seen better days and is in need of a major refurb. The 1970s are no longer fashionable. Plumbing is particualrly bad, water temperature cycling uncontrollably from scalding hot to freezing cold every few seconds. Breakfast is also a throwback to the stone age of British catering. I stayed at this hotel because of the location (slap bang in the middle of the Northern Quarter) and it was also the cheapest hotel in the centre of Manchester on the Saturday. The room I stayed in had no window and had the look of a Jail cell. The room itself was clean and tidy, but was extremely dated with green cringe carpet. The bath had mould all […] around it, the thermostat for the air-con came away from the wall and the TV was an old CRT model, also there was no proper lighting in the room, which meant it was dark and dingy. Also, we could not turn the air-con in the room off and it went on all night long and was noisy, meaning it was hard to get much sleep. I have rated the hotel a 2, and that's just a score for the excellent location, if you want a nice hotel room with a window and modern decor, I suggest paying the £20 more and stay somewhere else. Only stayed 1 night to visit friends and see a show at the Palace Theatre. The hotel seems to be in a back street area when approached from the recommended car park, but is actually just round the corner from the station square and Arndale centre. Ideal central location and close to bars, shops and rail/ bus links. We didn't eat there but a huge bar […] open late for residents. Also believe there is a nightclub. Our room was basic, no window but air conditioned. The bed was a little firm but room well furnished with a decent sized en suite. I'd definately go back. Mehr

After reading the reviews re Sacha's I felt a little apprehensive but my friend & I were pleasantly surprised. Our twin room was clean, comfortable & spacious; the staff were all wonderful & willing to go the extra mile for customers. Two of our lamps did not work but on reporting this the manager came to our room IMMEDIATELY & fixed them in a flash! […] We were pleased to be warm & cosy as it was a very cold night (8/2/12). Breakfast was no less than SUPERB & staff even looked after our luggage after checkout so than we could shop till we dropped! Here we have a centrally located Manchester hotel, WITH A POOL no less, fantastic breakfast for two on our overnight city stay, for an offer price of £VERY CHEAP in total! The only problem is that there is no hotel car park, so it is better to visit via public transport as car parking charges in Manchester centre can be high. very nice superior room dont see why it as bad reviews

We paid up front to hotels.com then I was working all day on Saturday 28th jan 2012 arrived at hotel at 2120 to find they had sold the room was for us they told us we were going to the airport hotel what is 16 miles away near motorway by taxi as my mum is in Manchester. Hospital very sick I said no we asked for manager and was told it s the same for […] all now arrivals there was peolpe sitting with case all over waiting to be transfored to airport hotels in end we go to rooms sigles with no windows hot hot hot sweat ran down me all night .breakfast cold staff no English this hotel is the worst I have ever stopped in in my life . had a problem with room card not working had to go all the way back to reception last thing at night when totally knackered it really was not great. Room smelt of cigarettes even though requested non smoking room. on the plus side Bar staff were great and receptionist very sympathetique. Will stay there again.

A real gem of a hotel located in a quiet side street close to Manchester's busy shopping centre, yet offering every facility the business or leisure traveler could wish for. Well located for Metrolink services and buses to bury and Middleton {for Heaton Park} - all less than 3 minutes casual stroll away. Also, for those arriving in their own transport, […] an open air 'pay & display' car park is located adjacent to the hotel. Meals are excellent - steak cooked exactly to order, generous portions and a superb buffet breakfast including a choice of poached fruits, porridge and traditional cooked breakfast., all in congenial surroundings. The 'economy' room I opted for offered all the facilities of a good en suite bedroom, including TV and hospitality tray. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and air conditioning - to compensate for lack of a window - was fully adjustable and quiet. Having an internal room proved beneficial in terms of undisturbed sleep, as there was no street noise. A special thanks is due to the staff - I found them to be courteous, efficient, helpful and friendly. Altogether, it was a superb break and Sachas is an absolute must for future stays in Manchester. Avioddd !!!! This hotel is beyond words, Its filthy and it smells , The rooms have dirty bed sheets and dirt around the baths , The tap wouldent top leaking and one of the taps was missing . The price i paid is disgusting !, & Staff hardly speek english and are very rude , Wont go to this hotel ever again ! wouldent even let my dog sleep in this hotel […] !!!!! Mehr

Hotel was very convenience but needs serious updating. The first room I had was very cold and damp. I was moved and the second room was a little better but still smelt of damp. The reception and dining room was nice but the bedrooms and corridors were unconstruction. The lifts are very old and shakey. The balconies outside the windows are very dirty […] and need cleaning and revamping. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and plenty of hot water. I served its propose but wont recommend this hotel for a luxury breakaway. The cheaper rooms do not have windows you need to upgrade to have a window, very strange and this was not stated when I booked the rooms. So be careful. Mehr

I've stayed at a few Britannia hotels and lots of other budget brands. I am not a hotel snob by any means but was extremely dissatisfied with this hotel. First - could not find my reservation, had to get my laptop out to show them that I had booked it Room was clean, and bed was good. TV picture was horrible, said it had satellite - it didnt. Bathtub […] was gross and very old. Taps leaked. Smelled funny. Room heat was either extremely hot or cold. Was kept up all night by people in room beside us. Front desk could not recommend any sights, restaurants or give directions. They did not seem to understand basic english. Its a ok hotel for a night out and a place to crash. Would not return. Mehr

The Sachas is right in the heart of the city. The staff are very nice, they went out of their way to treat me nice. Gina and Dina are the best, and the rest of the desk staff are extremely helpful. Ill see you next time I visit and we will watch the IPL

If you are looking for a budget hotel for a short time right in the middle of the city centre then this is a suitable place. It may not have the looks from the outside and the inside does look dated but surely that doesn't affect your stay. I stayed on New Years and it was a least £30 cheaper than other hotels and for one night it didn't bother me. The hotel is worn out and needs a lot of work doing. The checkin process was a mess, stuck in a queue at reception for ages because the receptionists were calling the cleaners each time to check if the room was ready... Everyone was booked so why so difficult to know if their rooms are ready...? Initially tried to give me a smoking room when I booked […] non-smoking. This hotel is ideal if you want a cheap hotel right in the centre of Manchester. The hotel is run down and needs re decorating but if all you want is a bed for the night this hotel is ideal. Means no taxi's and everywhere is within walking distance. The residents bar stayed open until 12.00am on a sunday night. I stayed at Sachas on a Saturday night. The hotel staff are friendly and the location is very good as it is a 5-10min walk to the main centre. Unfortunately the hotel looks dated particularly in the hallways and rooms. I was not at all impressed with the comfort in the room because a few of the basics were not met. The rooms are extremely hot, and […] the a/c does not seem to cool it down. A fan is provided but this doesn't do much. Also there are only two sockets in the entire room, and one is usually plugged into the tv. I found this very inconvenient as I had multiple things I needed to plug in. The lighting is also not great. If you are looking for somewhere to stay, Sachas may be ok for 1 night but you'll probably be glad to be checking out after that. The hotel was perfectly strange - staff were not very welcoming, condition of the hotel wasn't great and parking was difficult. That being said if you need a cheap hotel in Manchester for a night then I'd give it a go...

Will not stay here again. Cheap room but unpleasant as no window, no airflow. Staff refused to upgrade. Only when I spoke to the manager did I get a room with air flow!

best hotel we stayed very good

as we stepped in the room, we felt clostaphobic, we were lucky to have enough space to place our luggage. with the same rate we paid we would have definetly found a better, nicer,cleaner and newer hotel, have to make a wiser desicion next time i travel to manchester. and the worst of all was when after a full day out we came back and found our door […] open, we had valuable stuff, the cleaner had forgotten to close the door after she finished!!!! not safe at all, and the bathroom simply disgusting, for sure i won't be back!!! Customer service is not good from checking to checking out. The lifts in the hotel keep breaking down hence walking 5 floors. The room was damp and carpet was dirty. Not value for money!

There was no window in the 1st room. The bedroom hadnt seen a hoover in sometime. The bed needed to be condemned. The Bathroom contained black mould round the bath, The Sink unit was chipped down to the bare wood. Requires a complete refurbishment. max stay is 1 night

The check in was excellent. The lady was very helpful and informative with a very pleasant manner, alas thus ended the pleasant experience..the bathroom had extensive mould and mildew around the sides. The mattrass clearly had long since had its' day.The breakfast was totally inedible. Most of the 'hot' options were cold.The coffee was thick it was […] so strong and undrinkable. The rooms of this hotel are terrible. The first room had no working phone, the laminate around the sink had been ripped away and the bath was moldy. The second room offered was only modestly better but was swelteringly hot (mid December) despite using aircon. The bed was very uncomfortable. You also have to pay £17 for parking over the road. Although room basically clean and clean bedding looked tired and a bit shabby. Windows only partially opened and there was dirt and dust between inner an outer windows. Several lights did not work and reported 3 times but no repairs took place. Breakfast moderate. Just about decent for the price.

The staff were a little unfriendly on arrival, but helpful all the same. We were offered breakfast for a discount (only £5 instead of £10). The room was clean with everything we needed, just a little old fashioned nithing however to complain about. The bar was friendly and cheap. It is also one of the best locations in the city being situated in the […] Northern quater with an excellent range of pubs, bars and restaurants. My boyfriend and i recently spent a weekend at the above hotel.We did enjoy our stay, and there was a choice of either breakfast in the room, or breakfast in the dining room which we do recommend. Bathroom - had a spa bath, however the slime round the jets, showed signs that this had not been cleaned in some time.
