We had a wonderful family time. We chose the Arizona Grand because of the Oasis Water Park. The slides, pools, and lazy river were wonderful but the beach chairs and tables were filthy. The hours were different than the website due to a private function which was also disappointing. Overall though we had lots of fun!

The room was wonderful, but the water park blew everything else away - just for hotel guests, this water park makes the hotel our unquestioned destination for our next visit to the Phoenix area.

We stayed at the resort for two nights. The maid didn't clean the room, and the resort charged us $40/day resort fee. We were told we only needed to pay the resort fee $30 if we used the water park, but when we got there we were told the resort fee was $40/day and it's not optional

I would have rated the hotel much higher were it not for the two ear piercing fire alarms that went off during our stay. The first one brought our entire building outside at 1:30 am, the second one was around noon the next day. (For us, it should have been nap time and instead terrorized my two year old for days.) This is a great place to stay. Only advice is to get in line early to get pool chairs. Also, resort fee of $40 per night is a little steep, especially if you so not use amenities supposedly covered by fee.

The hotel exceeded our expectations on all fronts, we would love to come again and will spread the word this is a great family hotel. Can't beat the water park!

We just returned from a stay at the Arizona Grand. Hotels.com booked us there for two reasons: 1) the waterpark (Oasis), and 2) because the room was big enough for 2 adults and 3 children. The property overall was impressive - very nice and clean. Oasis waterpark is also very nice but it was impossible to get any lounge chairs. There simply aren't enough […] chairs for the amount of people who enter the waterpark. In fact, people line up 90 minutes before the waterpark opens just to get a lounge chair - not kidding. The room was clean, but I could not believe that the bedroom had 2 queen beds AND the "bathroom" sink was IN the bedroom! The only bathroom was very small - toilet and shower only. Again, the sink was actually in the bedroom with the 2 queen beds. The other thing that was weird is that all lights were on the same circuit. You either had all lights on in the bedroom, or none. Same thing with the living room/tv area. All lights or none. Mehr

Had a wonderful time! Family of 4 with a 9 and 11 year old had a blast. The nightly DJ / Dance party from 6 to 7:30 was great fun and provided lots of laughs. Followed by a kids movie around the pool was brilliant. The pool service and food / beverage set up was perfect. Food was good with lots of variety. We will certainly go back. Spent a couple nites […] at their competitors resort and this stacked up way better for our family. Very impressed in all aspects. Only downfall was the water park was so full we had to sit in the grass. Apparently they are open to public which did make for crowded seating conditions. I feel that every hotel guest should be able to have a seat to sit in!!!!! The park was large enough that the lines were not long, the pool was not over crowded. The lazy river did get congested but was still very relaxing. There are lifeguards which makes for some relaxation for parents. Mehr

Great water park for young kids but the quality of the hotel and rooms does not match what is depicted on their website. Terrible room keeping service. The housekeeping staff rarely cleaned the whole room and we were always short of towels, toliet paper, and coffee supplies. As well, there was never any hot water for showers between 7am and noon. Why would you charge a resort fee for this old hotel.

I stayed at the resort based on a recommendation from a friend and his wife. In short, the facility is quite nice. There are areas for kids to go and places for parents to unwind. And, there are outdoor activities that families can do together. The hiking was a nice surprise. The golf course looked to be very nice and well kept. The grounds were spotless, […] very impressed. Pros: - Clean, clean, clean - Very good food in the restaurant by the clubhouse - Hiking trails on site - Golf on campus, pro shop staff were great to talk with - Great staff - Larger campus, so there were places to walk around and not feel like a hamster - Many pools and tubs to relax, always an uncrowded area to go - Love the adult lap pool Cons: - Food and drinks are about double what they should be for what you get - Driving range balls are limited flight sponge balls, but they were free to us :) - Hair dryer was missing from room, safe was locked, and other little things were missed on check in That's about it. We may try other resorts based on the amenity prices alone. If you enjoy food/beverage on campus you either need to not care about money or budget what you do, or find an all inclusive somewhere else. All that being said, it is a clean/safe place to be. There was friendly/helpful staff everywhere. We may visit there again and do more offsite dining. Mehr

Very nice rooms in the resort. Alot of things to do at the resort. Resort fee was high and internet access was not available. Conceirge was very helpful and informative

Resort was well maintained, rooms were not 4 star, after housekeeping cleaned the rooms dirty dishes were left piled near our room in the hallway for 2 days, when they cleaned our room they turned over our dirty mugs and cups and left them, which makes me wonder how clean they were to start with. One bedroom suite was great - helpful staff - excellent restaurant. Golf was above par! Great Spa for steam & hot tub after golf

Spacious rooms, polite staff. The property is quite large and you can get lost.

Everything about the resort, location, care and amenites was 'all 5's' . My surprise and disappointment was to have been charged a $30 additional 'resort fee' over my one-night charge.

Bad experience overall. Hotel security would not/could not control late night parties in the courtyard area resulting in interrupted sleep two nights in a row. Called front desk 4 times over a three nignt stay. Great facilities but upkeep is slipping.

First of all the TV's are tube style instead of flat screen. They are at least 10-15 years old. Secondly, no free wifi? Are you kidding me? Not only is it not free but they charge $15 per day. Lastly, these cheapskates charged me to work out at their Heath facility to the tune of $30 each time. There are much better options, steal clear.

The location is very convenient to the Phoenix airport as it is only a few miles away off a major highway. The food, resturants, and bar are all quite good. The bar area has very nice wall-mounted large screen TV's and nice drinks - the Grande Margarita is special. The rooms are nice, a little compact, but nice. My only real gripe is the TV's are not […] the large flat screen models so that is an upgrade I hope they make. The golf course is very accesible and is OK. On check in, a mountain view suite as booked through this website wasn't available. We were offered an upgrade at our own cost which was refused. We stood our ground and reluctantly was given an upgraded room. The room was shabby and uncomfortbale and right next to a really loud airconditioner(or similar) Was relieved to leave the next morning...

The suites are absolutely gorgeous, with spacious rooms and superb cleanliness. Spectacular views of the manicured grounds. I went for business but I am coming back with the family, I was so impressed.

Room was comfortable-however the sink and vanity was in the sleeping quarters. Presents a problem when your wife is an earlier riser and wants to do her makeup in the room your are sleeping in. TV's were outdated.

The first room they put me in looked like a 1950's room.. had to have them change me to a different room.. But of course that was more money??

Overall the stay was pretty great, except for the water park only being open Sat and Sun. There were several guests we spoke to who were unaware of this fact as well.

Was not pleased with the mediocre renovation. The room had potential being it was a two room suite, but the tiny TV that still had a big tube in the back was hard to watch from bed and the bed sack in the middle. I hate to complain, but I wasnt impresed. Aunt Chilladas was good and the staffwas nice. Did not use Pool, but I hear that is awesome.

I have lost count how many times we have stayed at the Grand, but this time was kinda so-so. Due to booking, we got a small room upgrade which was nice. The lamp next to the bed didn't work, no biggie - cord was unplugged. The freezer in the small frig was unusable due to it not having been defrosted since Moses was a child. Otherwise, the room was […] small but comfortable. We stayed in the Villas near the waterpark. We noticed near the ice machine on the first floor when we arrived a pile of glasses, etc. They remained there until we departed two days later. The stairwell had two or three lights out, making it difficult to see the steps, let alone what it would be like in an emergency situation. Small things - but it's these kind of things that makes one take notice on how much the resort lacks when it comes to daily details. Our towels were sat outside our door for room housekeeping to pick up Saturday morning. They also remained there until we left Sunday afternoon. The one thing that has ALWAYS griped me is that they have the nerve to charge you $14.95 per day for internet access. Outrageous, especially when considering they whack you with a $30.00 resort fee on top of your room. Totally uncalled for. Get a clue guys - it's 2011 already. The lazy river was fine as usual. We did find a really good place if you crave pizza while you are there! Oregano's...but that's another review! Mehr

Great place to get away!

I thought I was getting a good price for the hotel but they hit me with a $30.00/day resort fee and charged $15.00/day for internet access. The staff was average at best. If you have a family this might be a nice place because of the pools and water park but beware that they will slip charges in for additional items.

Spent busy of Labor Day at this resort. Family had a great time. The Oasis servers should monitor use of lawn chairs as many lawn chairs were hoarded leaving other to sit on concrete.

All was good except the "resort fee" automatically added to my room charge at check-out. My Hotels.com confirmation said my reservation had been "paid in full".

Made reservations for a 2-queen suite as the resort had the only waterpark open on a week day. Deeply disappointed with our room. Cockroach in the bathroom, empty box of kleenex, non-functioning tv remote, ancient, tiny box tvs to name a few problems. Would expect better from a place that calls itself a grand resort. Had it not been for the water park […] this place would have received an overall 1 rating. I would not recommend this place, many good options in this price range......unless of course you are looking for a water park to go to during the week, at this time of year. Mehr

I did not like the hotel food and the floor of the hotel room was VERY dirty. Too far from downtown Tempe.

Overall it was a good experience. Great place to stay if you have kids, the water park and pool area are nice size. I don't kids, so if you want peace and quiet this hotel is probably not the place for you. Saturday night into Sunday was extremely chaotic, one of the employees told me they were at 100% capacity. I absolutely loved the az grand resort! The lazy river was my favorite. Check in time is at 4 and the line was a little long. Our room was awesome but the carpet was wet when we checked in... didn't like that much. It was a little busy on Saturday but the crowds died down on Sunday. This resort has a fantastic pool - the oasis - with water slides a wave pool and lots for kids to do!

We got hit with a $64 resort fee for 2 nights upon check-in. They also wanted to run a debit to credit card at check-in to cover movies, mini-bar etc. When we purchased through Hotels.com and paid in full we assumed there would be no additional charges. There were.

I booked this hotel due to the Travel Channel ranking of it's on site water park as being in the top 10 in the country. Unfortunately, the water park didn't live up to our expectations. It's very small with only 2 large water slides and a small slide third slide which only appealed to our 12 year old who happened to be the youngest in our party. The […] rest of our kids are older teens, and since they're used to Cedar Point's Soak City and Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom, this park seemed way too small and didn't offer enough rides to hold their attention for more than 3 hours. We visited on the last weekend of July and it was super crowded. The wait to get a tube for the lazy river was approx. 30 mins. & it was jam packed to capacity. Plus, we weren't aware of the resorts policy of only allowing 6 passes to the water park per room. And, there is no option to purchase a day pass for additional people, so if you have more than 6 in your party, you are out of luck! We had planned on spending the day at the water park with my brother and his 3 kids who live in the area, but had to forego this plan since we had 8 people & 2 people would not have been able to join us. Overall, the resort is over priced - even in the "off" season, and if you don't have a vehicle to go off resort for dining, be prepared for exorbitant food prices. This resort is best suited for families with young children who will enjoy the small size of the water park and it's slides which are fine for kids that are 10 and under. If you've got teens and/or are looking for the thrills of a true water park with adventurous slides and activities, this is not the resort to book. Mehr

The room was clean. The staff was helpful and polite. The water park was fun. Overall a great family experience. No complaints.

Our family loves coming here but it is a bit over priced. I booked through Hotel.Com and got to the hotel only to learn that I still had to pay a, "hotel fee." I was under the impression that I had paid for everything upfront so that was a little frustrating.

The Arizona Grand's location made it very comfortable to enjoy the surrounding eats & places to visit. Our room was clean but a little outdated with no flat tv's and no complimentary wi-fi in the lobby. The pool & water parks are great but need to be cleaned a little more often. Lastly, the hotel denied a late check-out on my last day which seemed odd […] for a hotel of this caliber.
