The room smelled like an ashtray, but for the $$$ per night, with free parking, and free continental breakfast, what can you expect. It was a 15 minute walk to the Convention Centre, so I saved big not having to stay at the Westin, and not having to pay to park my car.

parking was horible .. the rest is ok

Rooms were clean but Very OLD and small the washrooms were very TINY new ceramics but old sinks held by screws peeling paint. Parking was CRAZY!! Not enough parking spaces for the amount of rooms. ALSO the rooms are all outdoor facing and in the winter the doors all freeze. I HOPE YOU DONT GET FROZEN IN!!!!

Nice location, but the Motel is too old and small rooms..for the price is not worth it.

If you like a hotel that looks like a hotel from CSI then go for it, if not spend a bit more but stay elsewhere. Sure they have breakfast included and internet, but that does not compensate for the terrible hotel. By the way the pictures do not reflect the real hotel.

Poor maintenance of the hotel. Excellent location and ample parking space.

It takes a little bit walk to all the downtown sights, such as Parliment Hill, but managable, about 15 minutes. If it is not an Ottawa harsh winter with strong wind, it is not bad at all. The neighborhood is not really good, and not too many varieties of restaurants. But you can always walk to downtown to get meals. Hotel provides free parking, and […] complimentary breakfast. My mom and I stayed at this motel for a week. I should mention that we stayed here because none of the other places that we wanted were available for the full week (e.g. The Embassy, Days Inn downtown). The room itself was decent, considering that it is a lower class motel, and the free breakfasts were perfectly acceptable. My biggest complaint was […] that there was a lot of construction going on (e.g. sand-blasting, which was incredibly loud). This construction/renovation was so loud that it was uncomfortable to stay in the room while it was going on. I could not hear the TV, even after I had turned it up to nearly full volume. I wish we had complained sooner, as I would have expected a substantial discount for that kind of inconvenience. The surrounding neighbourhood is incredibly dodgy. There is a mission next door, and a lot of homeless or nearly-homeless characters about. It was, however, a convenient walk to downtown. It took about 15-20 minutes to get to the Rideau Shopping Centre and Parliament buildings. Staying at the Econo Lodge was not bad if you're going to be going out for the day time, but I would not want to stay there if I had any intention on going out in the evening. My mom and I only went out for dinner if we had a ride back to the motel. Fortunately, there was a mini-fridge and microwave and a Loblaws and Metro nearby, so we were able to buy food and eat in our room. I would recommend this motel if you are looking for an affordable place to stay downtown for a few nights. A week seemed a bit much in a place where there is uncomfortably loud construction during the morning/day. I'm sure the neighbourhood won't seem too bad if you are staying with friends. Mehr

Good place for the money that you pay. the room was clean and also the washroom. I did not like their breakfast but generally hotel is comfortable.

We survived the night in this hotel,breakfast was poor ,served on the plastic plates.This is the time to make huge renovation.Walk distance to all atractions,that was the best.Parking available and is safe.

its good,close to many attractions,we never used the pool so dont know,but it was clean with microwave,fridge,it was raining when we went,stairs need to be cleaned or atleast mat should be avoided as anybody can slip on mosai tiled strairs,may be the doors need be painted but overall its good,good breakfast,maintained very neatly, very well managed.MY […] KIDS LOVED IT. It was so close to my brothers...and downtown area...just a little old and lots of "neighbours" vs. guests we're guessing, but they all turned out very friendly, and that ended up a positive experience. Always room in the parking lot, which was pretty packed which was also a good sign we actually were in a safe area.

Our room was not ready at check in time.

More of a run down motel you see off a major highway. disappointed in everything from the cleaniness to the area. the staff was most polite - they can only work with what they have!

For the price paid for one night, we didn' t expect what we got. If the hotel managemet really values what customers' needs are, they would immediately look at making this facilty a recommended place for stay instead of just a place to spend a night or two because you were unaware of other better places in the vicinty.

It is an old motor hotel and looks it. The staff is very friendly. The location is convenient to the downtown and major highways. The neighborhood looks a little rough but it is where "the real people" live. You can walk to a large grocery store (5 min) which is very convenient. It is like going back in time 50 years but the room was very clean and […] well maintained. You have to know that you are getting a reasonably priced room for a reason....it isn't the Hilton. Mehr

staff was friendly and informative about the area, the complimentary breakfast was filling and tasty, like the added accessories ie fridge, micro, ironing. quiet at nite and ample parking which was FREE, big asset since most parking in the city had a cost of 6 to 12$ a day. highly recommend.

Do not stay at this hotel, it is used for low income city housing in Ottawa. Upon our arrival, the management was very nice and friendly but when we got to our room their was dirt in the coffee cups, families living in the rooms beside us, and the shower was dirty. This hotel should not even be advertised as it is located in a shady area of Rideau St. […] and not even really a hotel. Dont not stay at this hotel! Mehr

Econo lodge is very affordable and staff are friendly.Front desk helped me on where to visit and what to do. I would definitely go back and stay in the hotel again.

Location was excellent for where we were to go. Close to the major attractions. Sheets were stained and bedspred was very old- looking, otherwise,everything was satisfactory.

great room, great service, superb television and programming, very friendly, great location.

Not bad location, room had wall cracks, mold in bathroom, 1 face cloth for 4 people, nobody to get more towels, beds were bad and uncomfortable! Even though price was in low, I mean really, next time we visit Ottawa we will chuckle when we drive by this place and say "Nope...never again"!

Close to downtown and Parliament but rather dingy. What you should expect for the price in downtown capital. Sadly in need of an update. Bathtub was bacly stained but otherwise generally clean. Breakfast was bare minimum. Staff were friendly and helpful

Very old, not renovated. Not worth the price.... there are many other hotels with the same prices in Ottawa tha offer a better stay. I did not feel comfortable sleeping in that room, I felt like I was going to catch bugs or a disease... seriously

This place is pretty much a dive in a somewhat seedy part of town. The room was quite run down. The linens and bathroom were clean, thankfully, but the room and hotel was very run down. For instance: The door was badly in need of repainting, the lampshade on the bedside lamp looked like it had been through a meat grinder, the wifi (part of the reason […] I chose the hotel) was not working the first day, the TV remove was held together with duct tape, the phone wouldn't accept incoming calls until I asked about it... I went for the cheapest option and I got what I paid for. I would have been better served, I think, had I gone to the one of the other hotels closer to the center of the city. Mehr

Everything was fine. Close to down town. Friendly staff, clean room. It was worth that money. Just maybe breakfast could be better organized.

We did't spend much time in the room but it was what we expected. It's pretty close to Parliament Hill to walk but consider that at the end of the day you'll be tired of walking. We took a taxi from War Museum to Econoldge and it costed $10. It's a good place to crush one night.

The hotel was clean and the service was friendly. But the surrounding neighborhood is sketchy and a few people I spoke with intimated that walking around at night may not be the best idea. I did anyway and had no trouble but there are definitely some rough areas. It is, however, close to several restaurants and about a mile from Parliament which is […] what I needed. If you expect a 2 star hotel then you'll be fine; if you expect more then you'll be disappointed. Mehr

Très pratique, bien situé pour aller dans le centre ville d'Ottawa à pied. quartier populaire avec beaucoup de petits commerce. Bon compromis.

처음 객실에 들어갔을때, 불쾌한 냄새가 나서 참을수가 없었습니다. 오피스에 문의했더니, 청소세제 냄새일거라고 하는데 이해할 수 없더군요. 문을 열어 환기를 시키고 향수를 뿌려도 참을수 없었습니다. 방을 바꿔달라고 했더니, 방이 꽉차서 안된다고 하더군요. 어쩔수 없이 하룻밤 숙박하고 나왔지만, 알수 없는 이상한 냄새때문에 불쾌하고 힘든 하룻밤을 보내고 왔습니다. 추천하고 싶지 않군요. (다른 이용자들도 비슷한 리뷰를 썼는데, 그걸 여행 후에나 봤어요. 이런~!. 진작 알았더라면~!)

Le rapport qualité prix est bon, les personnes de la réception son serviable, la réservation par ce site est simple et efficace, l’hôtel est situé à 10minutes a pied des bâtiments du parlement. les chambres sont grandes, le lit confortable, l’équipement est complet avec une machine a café, un micro-onde,la TV cablé bref super. Par contre je conseillerais […] plus les chambres a l'étage pour plus de tranquillité. Mais personnellement je pense revenir a Ottawa et y loger. Merci a Hotel.com ;) Mehr
