Hampton Inn Winchester-University/Mall Area - Winchester

We've stayed here twice on our way south from Maine and it's an excellent stopping off place, just what we expect from Hampton Inn-clean, quiet, convenient to the interstate, good buffet breakfast and it's a plus that they start the buffet at 6 a.m. so we can be on the road early. We'll stay there again.

We are in Winchester several time a year. Our daughter goes to SU. This is our first time staying here. People are very nice and lobby is nice. Rooms are small and the wall very thin. A lot louder than I would like. But for 99 dollars with breakfast included, it's not bad. Very close to 81 if you need a stop over.

Location of the hotel made it close to everything but also made the road noise louder. The accessable bathroom is a little less than what I expected. They have a seat that can be clamped to the shower/tub combo. A simple roll in shower would have been better. Additionally they have no accessable bathrooms with a 2 double room. Hotel Staff were very friendly & accommodating when checking in with a lovely breakfast included. Certainly would stay there again as it was just off the I 81 with lots of eating places to choose from after a long day of driving from the South..........

The location of the hotel is right in the heart of the business district of Winchester so all the restaurants and stores are at your fingertips. The downside is, it's rather loud because you are essentially sitting in the fork of a road. The breakfast was substantial and constantly being refilled. I realize that bio-degradable is important.But if you use cups and cutlery that can be re-used time and time again there is nothing for a landfill.Donate these items when the hotel feels it is time for a change.A cup of coffee in cheap paper picks up the taste of the paper.Couldn't drink it.

We had an excellent night at this Hampton. So we booked our next night in the Hampton Inn airport in Chattanooga- it cost us $30.00 more for a room with dirty sheets on the bed and a staff who were unable to leave the desk to change the sheets. Very disappointing after our Winchester experience. The mold on the bathroom wall was not encouraging ! Although it is to be expected that a hotel under renovation cannot provide the seamless, quality stay expected, we should have been notified when reservation was made that a renovation is in progress. Main entrance was closed and directions to alternate entrance were not easy to find. One reservation clerk listened attentively to complaints being verbalized […] by a guest; the other clerk was intent on giving excuses rather than listening to the needs of the guest. Made reservations for 3 adults based on expedias representation that this room sleeps 5 adults as a suite. It was not a suite and no additional beds just 2 queen beds for 3 men. Very clean, excellent value. Heat had been off in the room on a nippy night. Room warmed up quickly but the bathroom was way too cold to take a shower. Would definitely stay here again.

Personal detail - checked in at 4:00pm on Sunday, November 25, 2012. One other couple was checking in ahead of me. Got checked into a room and then called the Front Desk to ask to speak with the person responsible for telephone communication. A young woman who identified herself as Brittany and said she had just checked me in, asked how she could help. […] I told her my wife would be calling the hotel at 4:30pm and would identify herself as calling from Budapest, Hungary and would give her my room number to be connected to - could she handle this? The young woman said she'd be happy to do it. When my wife called at 4:30pm she was put on hold for over two minutes! She finally had to hang up and send me a text message detailing what had happened. At that point, I called the Front Desk from my room. When I asked what went wrong? Brittany told me that she had become VERY busy and couldn't transfer my wife's call, but had asked her to hold!!!! Mehr

Located in commercial area walk to restaurants,close to historic Winchester,shopping and a lot of very nice Winery's to visit ( check out the Virginia Winery Map state published ). We enjoyed our stay and the nice breakfest every morning.

Overall hotel experience was great. Only complaint I had was that either someone on my floor or the floor above me was smoking. The smoke made it's way to my non-smoking room and the hallway. Other than that no complaints.

hotel staff was very helpful and courteous. we had an issue with the elevator that they promptly fixed and went out of their way to notify us about the fix.

We were traveling north on I-81 and stayed one night. The location was perfect, and the hotel was very well run. Also, lots of good restaurants within walking distance. I highly recommend this hotel.

This was a great stay. My daughter and I stayed one night. 5 rooms in this inn, and since we were the only guests that evening, we had a chance to see all five rooms. all wonderful. The largest room has a sitting area too. There's also a sitting area on the second floor, with tv and cable and refrigerator. Morning continental breakfast was great, and […] Shannon was great to us. We appreciated the very clean room, and comfortable beds. The complimentary breakfast included hot oatmeal - which is our favorite- and there was good coffee available 24/7. Having an exercise room after being on the road all day was great! We went to the KFC next door because we were tired and didn't want to take the car out again.
