Hotel American-Dinesen - Venedig

Obwohl nur das Standardzimmer waren wir auch aufgrund des Wetters mehr als zufrieden. Freundlicher Service und aufmerksames Personal. Für italienische Verhältnisse ein großes Frühstück. Sauberkeit der Zimmer war sehr gut. Jederzeit wieder. Lage zum Zentrum war optimal 10 Minuten zum Markusplatz.

Sehr freundliches Personal und saubere Zimmer ausgespochen gutes Frühstück. . Für entsprechenden Komfort in Venedig akzeptabeler Preis bei insgesamt hohem Preisniveau in Vendig für gutes Essen und Wohnen.

Sehr guter, freundlicher Service (Restauranttipp Volltreffer, auch Flughafen-checkin war von der Rezeption möglich). Zimmer sehr sauber und mit venezianischem Flair. Bad groß, ebenfalls sehr sauber mit Badewanne und Handtuchwärmer! Frühstück sehr gut - viel frisches Obst, auch sehr guter Service: Capuccino ohne Aufpreis. Dieses Hotel ist sehr empfehlenswert. Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit allem.

Das Hotel ist in der Tat etwas Besonderes: individuell gestaltet, beste Lage, sehr aufmerksames Personal und dies bei einem sehr guten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Hätte wahrscheinlich noch einen Stern mehr verdient, sofern die Zimmer etwas größer wären.

Great hotel and good value for money. Only three stars is due to things like "no restaurant" and "no swimmingpool", but the service and quality of the hotel and the rooms should give the hotel 5 stars. Nice location by the canal, perfect in-between area close to both the ferry to the airport (five minutes and only one bridge to cross with your suitcase) […] and to one of only three brigdes connecting this area to the St Mark-part of island of Venice.(To st mark approx 15 min walk). 10 min walk to Campo Barnaba and Campo Sankt Margarita with lots of nice restaurants and other stuff. I had a standard room at the hotel it was a bit small, but not more than expected, I have had smaller actually. Good bathroom, air condition, balcony, very nice furnitures and old fashion style of the room, loved the lamps :) Free internet on the room. Didn`t try the tv or radio. Breakfast was ok, not much warm food but they compensated with great selection in sweet pastrys and fruit salads :) Will absolutely stay here again! Mehr

The hotel was in a great location, just 2-3 minute walk from the Accademia bridge/water bus stop. The hotel itself was good, but not great. It clearly had seen some wear and tear, but nothing was wrong. I would say it would be similar in quality to a Holiday Inn Express that was 7-8 years old, except smaller rooms and with Venetian decorations. Breakfast […] was really dull after the second day...standard Italian cold breakfast buffet. Coffee, croissant, bread, yogurt, meat and cheese, cereal, etc. Food was of decent quality and would not be an issue if staying a day or two. It would have been nice to have some other options such as scrambled eggs, oatmeal cereal, smoked salmon, more cheese variety (instead of just 1 sliced cheese), more meat variety (ham and 1 type of salami), etc. Venice was great and there were a couple of really good restaurants within 5-10 minute walk that we found on trip advisor. I spent a weekend at the Hotel American Dinesen, and have only positive things to say about the staff, which were very helpful and friendly (and rather unusually in my experience, all spoke good english), and about the location, which is very close to the sights but just far enough away from Rialto and Piazza San Marco to be a bit of a refuge when your […] wiped out by the crowds. My room (a budget option, although I am sure not all of the rooms have such views) had three tall windows with small ledges/balconies overlooking one of the smaller canals, which was also nice. On the downside, the hotel appointments are a bit dated/worn and the room (a double) was a bit cramped. While I would not rate this as one of the noisier hotels I have stayed in, there was a little bit of noise at times when people on floors above used the shower or toilet. (This seems to be a common issue in many hotels throughout Venice - noisy water pumps or the like). Still, these negatives are pretty minor to me and easily outweighed by the positives. Mehr

After arriving via water shuttle, the hotel was very close to the Accademia stop. Even though the hotel didn't have an elevator, the hotel staff brought our bags up to the room and refused to be tipped! The hotel also had a great view and was located just across the bridge from a nice little piazza.

If you're looking for a hotel in Venice, look no further than this one. The rooms are lovely, the staff and friendly and helpful, and the location is superb. I have no complaints at all and would stay there again without hesitation.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and just loved it. The room was very clean, nicely furnished and the bathroom even had a window. The windows in the room opened out into a small balcony overlooking a canal. The people at the front desk, including the manager were extremely helpful in booking a tour for us as well as booking additional resevations […] in another area of Italy. The breakfast room was well set up with a good variety of food. We would one day love to return to this hotel. Mehr

What a lovely hotel situated over a canal. The staff were very helpful and friendly,th hotel is 10 minutes from St Mark's Square and a couple of minutes walk from the Grand Canal and the Accedmia stop on the Waterbus.. The rooms were very tidy and clean and we paid a liitle extra for a canal view, very worth it as it was a lovely sight to wake upto. […] Would reccomend this hotel to everyone. Mehr

Perfectly located just outside the busy main areas of Venice, but with only a short walk to all the sights. Staff were incredibly helpful and spoke excellent English. Our room was perfect for a hotel of this standard, by no means large, but perfectly formed, very comfortable bed! Bathroom had everything you needed, but was a tad on the small side. Breakfast […] was typically continental. Fantastic coffee!! The outside terrace would be lovely to use in the summer. The hotel was clean and beautifully decorated, however, there were a few problems with our room (room 208). First, it smelled really badly of cleaning chemicals every day. Eventually our noses got used to the smell. But, every time we walked into our floor it smelled really badly of a moth-ball type smell. The second problem is that the rooms above […] us were incredibly loud through the entire night. It sounded as though they were doing some kind of construction work up there (or having some kind of dance party), but it interrupted our sleep every night and was on and off throughout the night and through to the morning. The breakfast was lovely, but unfortunately, we weren't told that it came with the room until the last day, so we didn't get to enjoy until then. I know that the hotels.com site lists that this hotel has complimentary breakfast, but after staying in so many hotels, some with and some without complimentary breakfast, it's good to be reminded of it when you check in. The main front desk staff was very particular about how things should be and was not exceptionally accommodating as you would expect from a hotel in this price-range. For instance, one night, when I wasn't feeling well, I just wanted to bring some food to the hotel to eat (since it doesn't have room service). I asked the front desk staff person if he could recommend some place that would cater to this type of scenario and he said that we couldn't bring anything back to our room because we would leave stains in the room. Keep in mind, that for a fee, the hotel staff does bring the complimentary breakfast up to your room in the morning so it's not against policy to eat in the room. I felt it was rude that he would insinuate that we would stain the room. Overall, though, it was an okay hotel and perhaps this treatment is to be expected in Venice. Mehr

Staff were friendly and helpful, provided an umbrella for the rain, free wifi for our room and the mini bar was fairly priced so we used it. The only minor negative was the cappuccino I was served for the first breakfast was awful cold and tasteless, not sure what went on there and never bothered having a coffee after that, but the tea was fine. The […] lighting and decoration around the mirrors in the lobby and breakfast area were not to my taste very twee and tacky which didn't fit with the rest of the hotel. Location is two minutes from the wooden bridge and 8 mins from Marco square and 15 mins from San Rialto bridge walking casually. Would stay again and recommend the hotel. Mehr

A very nice hotel. Reasonably priced, on a quiet side canal, wihin walking distance of San Marco (15 mins), and vaporetto stops. Only downside was just so-so breakfast. But overall a very comfortable place to stay.

The hotel American Dinesen was a pleasant retreat, in a nice neighborhood. I recommend getting the "canal view" room; it was absolutely worth the small extra paid. The hotel is on a quiet and picturesque side canal leading right in to the Grand Canal, which you can see from the hotel. It is a short and pleasant walk to the gorgeous Accademia Bridge […] views, good restaurants, and pubic transport boat stops. This hotel is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood with most of Venice within a 15 to 20 minute walk. The hotel is easy to find off the Accademia Bridge and is close to the Grand Canal. There was nothing special about this hotel. It was large hotel. Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast available in the morning. Excellent staff. People at the front desk were very helpful. However, I had one problem with this hotel. The shower appears to malfunction in the morning. My first morning out of three morning that we stayed there, the shower […] turned off in the middle of my shower. It began by gradually losing pressure until no water was coming out. The second morning, the water did not completely shut off but I barely had any pressure. My friend who took showers at night did not have this problem. Our last night there I took a shower at night and I didn't have this problem. Mehr

This hotel is in a great location; quiet neighborhood yet just a 10 minute walk to the Plaza San Marco and most other top attractions. Helpful staff and a great breakfast.

This hotel met and exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and comfortable and the location was away from the hustle and bustle of Venice. A perfect spot. My next visit to Venice will be at the American Densenin Hotel without any doubt. The name of this hotel has nothing to do with it's name American. At check in it was more than we expected. We were greeted with a smile, a warm buongiorno and no attitude or irritation that we arrived well before check in time. We were politely asked if we could wait 20 min for our room, given a code to access the internet while we waited and given the choice of wating in the comfortable waiting area by the desk […] or in the cozy living area. It was only about 10 min and we were being escorted to our room by a man that carried all five pieces of luggage up several flights of stairs with a smile and a graciousness about him that made you want to kiss him on the check. This was the most relaxed, care free, stress free, welcoming check in I have ever experienced! Our first day in Venice was off to a great start! The hotel was beautiful and the room was very lovely. Once settled in the man at the front desk helped me with my opera tickets, my theatre tickets and the symphony. He was more than willing to help with all the other things I couldn’t wait to see as well. He did all the arrangements for me. Called and reserved my place and issued my tickets at the front deck so I could leave and go straight to the event. I was made to feel like I was a privillaged guest! The entire staff made you feel that way. The breakfast with free cappuccinos, hot chocolate, espresso was wonderful. Fresh fruit, cheese, meats, many varieties of breads and olive oil and vinegar for those like me that love eating bread and oil in the morning, variety of yogurts, cereals, filled croissants, juices, milk, cream cheese, jellies….the list goes on. All the drinks were free at breakfast so I ordered three cappuccinos one day! The staff was great about having your coffee to your table quickly and all the coffee was to die for. They dining area was very clean and the staff more than gracious. I was treated like royalty. Close to many islands that surround Venice. Close to two Vaporetto station.

This was our 5th hotel during our stay in europe. We stayed in all generally good hotels, but they were missing basic things like coffee in room (hot water kettle), good internet speed, decent breakfast, shampoo/shower cap in bathrooms, etc. However, this hotel was definitely very well thought of, and we felt that all the basic requirements are well […] taken care of. We booked very last moment (1 day in advance), so didn't get a room with any sort of view. However, the room was very well decorated and we enjoyed our stay here. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful. Both experiences combined to make a very memorable and enjoyable experience. It was very convenient to the water bus line, easily accessible, convenient to many areas and safe at night.

The Hotel American-Dinesen was an enjoyable introduction to Venice and its people. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We arrived early and were given our room right away. This is a very nice hotel, well situated by the Accademia bridge and a fairly easy walk from the vaporetto stop. There are a few steps up and down the bridge over a smaller canal, and, unfortunately, many many steps inside the hotel, depending upon which room you're given and how much luggage you have; i.e., there's no lift/elevator. The Dinesan's bellhop […] gallantly takes on your luggage, while directing you to your room, and we recommend a generous tip. Upon checkout time, though, we carried our own luggage back downstairs. The pluses and minuses revolve around the name: "American Dinesan" therefore attracts a lot of other American tourists, which may or may not be what you're seeking... sometimes the stereotypic American tourist mentality intrudes upon your Italian vacation (a little too loud, overbearing, etc.). Breakfast was very nice, and there was free WiFi internet access, which is rarely a given in Italy. This was also the most expensive hotel for us, among our stops in Rome, Venice, Cinque Terre, Menaggio (Como), and Milan. Mehr

O hotel fica em uma localização muito tranquila e próximo ao vaporeto, o serviço é bom e o quarto é muito limpo e confortavel.

Hotellet var veldig koselig, hyggelig betjening og ligger i et rolig og fint område. I ettertid hadde vi nok allikevel valgt et hotel nærmere Rivalto der det er kortere til det som skjer. Alt i alt var vi ellers godt fornøyd med hotellet.

Vi hadde en flott opplevelse medio juni 2011. Vårt rom med kanalutsikt (rom 101) var en svært positiv erfaring - passe stort og moderne bad, og med prikken over i-en; balkong hvor man kunne sitte å se ned på kanalen og til og med sole seg noen timer på ettermiddagen. Veldig hyggelig betjening, ok frokost. Vann-taxi fra flyplass til døra (egen brygge) […] var greit (men dyrt). Mehr

Very nice hotel with beatiful view to Canal S.Vio. Close to everything but still quiet neighbourhood. Staff is extermely helpful and breakfast is fine. I strongly recommend to take a room with view and small balcony to the canal S.Vio. It is worth of money !
