City Hotel Shanghai - Shanghai

The picture on hotels.com didnt match the executive room i have stayed ..it was small and vert crowded. On top of this there is massive external construction going on at this hotel. And construction starts 7 in the morning. Heavy banging. Metals dropping. Breakfast was ok. It literally took me 20 minutes to get a cold water..

I would recommend the hotel. It's very clean, the staff speak good English (accroding to the normal standard in China), they are very helpful BUT they renovate the hotel and therefor there was very loud noise from 9 am to 5 pm EVERY DAY, including the weekends. This was very negative since the noise was so loud it seemed like the renovation was in our […] room. We was not informed about this before purchasing. So if you considering staying in City hotel, make sure the renovation are finish. The location is very good. It's between 5-10 minutes to the subway and on the way, only 1 minutes’ walk you have Starbucks. On the way to the subway you will find small shop selling cloths as well. From the subway station is takes just a few minutes to get to the attractions you would like to go to. Just across the road of the hotel you have a family mart, small shop that sells water, candy, instant noodles etc which is very good. There are some restaurants close to the hotel as well. Just where the subway is, a Parkson mall is located as well, where you can find exclusive brand, food restaurants (didn't try them thought) and of course, Mc Donalds. I booked the room and when I booked it, it said I had access to a gym/sauna. After I checked in, I was told by the Hotel that the room type I booked was not allowed to access the gym/sauna. I reasoned with the Hotel Manager and mentioned that the website was incorrect during booking and that the hotel should provide this service. He was nice and accomodating […] and allowed me access. Great hotel, good location. Very handy for many local restaurants. Very helpful staff, good internet. Hotel was under exterior renovation but they managed it well. Breakfast was ok.....

Our trip is purely business. City Shanghai is at downtown area and very accessible. Hotel is clean, complete with amenities. Doormen are very accomodating.

This is a good value 4-star hotel in Shanghai. The hotel is well maintained. Although it doesn't have a lot of fancy stuff, it is good value. The location is also very good.

Pleasant hotel, great value for money. Rooms to a good standard. Lobby is looking a little tired, and no WiFi in the bar! Or free wifi in room, only executive rooms.

Again the Hotel satisfied my every need, comfortable, easy access to centre etc. Will keep going back.

The hotel is in a convenient area. However, service is definitly not worth the price! We chose this specific hotel mainly for its pool. Well, surprise, the pool is only for the executive rooms. For a regular room, it would cost you an other 200 RMB! And the staff is not helpful about any problem you may have...

We was in this hotel one night. We was three persons in that room. When we first came in to the room and saw only 1 bed we thought something was wrong because it was only two beds. We went to the lobby and asked them where the third bed was and they said we are putting in the third one soon. Where I said: there is no space. They came with the bed and […] after that we had no floor left to walk on :) But it was ok for only one night. Overall the room was clean, the staff was friendly and good in english. The breakfast was ok too and the location was good. I recomend this hotel. Mehr

I use the City Hotel at least once a month when staying in Shanghai overnight. It is fairly central and within walking distance of most of Shanghai's shopping and nightlife area. Staff have alwasys been freindly and helpfull, English is not a strong point but there is normaly someone on duty that speaks a little English.... Room is alwasy clean and […] presentable and never had any issues. Food good and a great steak house on the 5th floor with a godo bar too. Mehr

It's super close to the subway station which takes you to anywhere. We didn't really spend any time in the hotel as we were touristing around the whole time, but it's a good deal for the price.

please bring along the amenties, there is nothing provided from the hotel;

Hotel average. Good to stay if you speak Mandarin, staff does not speak English at all. Very dificul to comunicate with staff.

The hotel is central to Shanghai at a reasonable price. rooms are clean though the cheaper rooms are small. Ideal for short stay. Try the Steak Bar on the 5th floor. Excellent food

Good location, near shopping areas, good and friendly service from reception and concierge. Rooms are clean and neat. Only setback is the hotel only provide 1 breakfast to a room which is not very pleasant when you have a family of 5 with 2 rooms booked and only 2 breakfast. Room was quite small, but had everything we needed. Room service was good and the food we ordered, very tasty. The breakfast was also good and the Japanese restaurant was delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly and there were no hidden "surprises". Excellent location with more than decent service and an excellent price.

About five blocks from metro station. Public bus stop across from hotel. After a day in the very hectic huge city it was nice to come back for refuge in the hotel. ATM in the lobby. Business center with 3 internet stations, expensive and hard to find websites. Responses were in chinese. Loud and noisy employees at business center made it difficult to […] concentrate. the perfect location for us...closed to everything and we can ask for more. The street reminder us of europe starbucks is about 2 blocks and garden bookstore is 3 blocks from our hotel ( books is all in english)...and they closed at 10pm, it's nice to be there for the evening get away from the hotel...we can't wait to go back to Shanghai again...great […] city. I would go with a normal chain hotel. I had the opportunity to see the Hilton in Hefei and it was unbelievable, at a lower price.

This hotel is a gem! The room was excellent and the location even better. Walk to the best parts of Shanghai history, great food, lovely parks. Take a quick taxi to everything else! Across the street is an excellent convenience store for inexpensive, water, juice, snacks, and if you must there is a Starbucks one block away. We can't imagine staying […] anywhere else when we're in Shanghai. Mehr

Check in was a breeze. Very competent and freindly personnel. Most spoke good English. The hotel is very well located. Since I did not have a lot of free time the location of the hotel was close to interesting sites. The room was spacious, well appointed and clean. The complimentary breakfast had a large selection (western and Chinese) of food stuff. […] The restaurants had a very good menue and attentive staff. Mehr

This hotel is located in a very convenient location, a few minutes walking to Huai Hai Road and Mao Ming Road South,which are both famous for shoping and dinning, with local breakfast eatery and Starbucks near by. Hotel has its own breakfast buffet but it's not that exciting, although my son liked it. Our room has two small beds, don't remember it is […] called single or twin. It's really only for one person, hard for people like me with two young children. I shared a bed with my son who is about 65 lbs, we really had a squeez. The hotel is not new but in very good condition, especially for the money you pay to stay at the heart of Shanghai. Mehr

Hotel is accessible and location is ok. About 12 to 15 mins walk from Shaanxi South Road station. It is also close to Nanjing Road West and Huaihai Road, and also Xin Tian Di. It is quite at night and I did manage to sleep ok.

I paid extra to upgrade my booking to Executive, hoping that I could use the Executive Lounge. By the time I checked in, I was told that the Lounge has been closed indefinitely. Instead, they gave me ONE coupon to use the City Bar in the ground floor.

Great place. Excellent price, has a gym and a pool, service very good. Rooms are small but well designed and comfortable.

We enjoyed our one-week stay at the City Hotel. The Standard Room was spacious and of great value. Towels and bedding were changed every second day (environmentally conscious). The restaurants were very good as well and breakfast had a nice variety of Western and Asian food. Staff at reception need to smile a bit more but were quite helpful. After staying in a luxury 5-star hotel for business, I decided to stay in Shanghai and choose a much cheaper hotel. I was expecting the hotel to be much worse than my expensive predecessor but, whilst it was certainly not luxurious, it was very well-located near to shops and entertainment, was clean and had all the facilities I needed for a three-day […] stay. Furnishings are a little drab but if you're mainly there to sleep and use the hotel mainly as a base you won't be disappointed. Stayed on 20th floor, executive room. Hotel and room were very clean. Great location, 5-10 min walk from S. Shanxi metro or a little longer to W. Nanjing Rd metro. Hotel offers a good breakfast at reasonable cost, although there are plenty of good options nearby. Lobby staff speak English. Hotellet var under renovering, vilket gjorde att utsikten tyvärr var obefintlig. Två bordslampor i rummet ur funktion, i övrigt bra. Nära till Nanjing Lu och Yanan Lu. Kartan på Hotels.com visar inte rätt position för hotellet. Bra frukost.

6명이 2명씩 3개의 방을 썼는데, 같은 층이었으면 좋았을텐데 14층 2개 11층 1개 이렇게 썼네요 공사중여서 창문에 가끔 남자분이 왔다갔다 하셨는데 낮에 거의 대부분 관광을 했기때문에 신경쓰지않았습니다. 좀 놀랐을 뿐이죠. 관광지 어딜가도 20위엔 안쪽으로 갈 정도로 위치좋았구, 프론트 분들 영어를 조금씩 하더이다. 특히 호텔앞에있는 마사지샵 싸고 괜찮아서 여행내내 밤에가서 마사지받았네요. 그래서 호텔의 평가까지 올라간거같애요 ㅎㅎㅎ 나쁘지않았습니다!

外装の工事中、うるさい バスの温水の水温が低い、

비가오는 늦은밤에 도착해서 룸을봤다. 헐~~. 중국다른도시들 저가호텔과별반 다를게 없었다. 오히려 4성급이라는게 믿기질 않았다.평이 좋아서 하루묵었지만 다시는 안가고싶은... 호텔에 구비해둔 우산도 없더라. 그래도 4성급인데...

Hotelli City Shanghai sijaitsee lähellä hyviä selkeitä metroyhteyksiä, taxin saa heti hotellin ovelle, hinnat edullisia, hyvät ja edulliset kiinalaiset ravintolat lähellä, ruoka hyvää ja puhdasta, kulttuuri- ja arkitehtuurinähtävyydet lyhyillä etäisyyksillä, taide-ja muinaismuseot järkevillä etäisyyksillä, upea eläintarha helposti saavutettavissa metrolla […] (esim mustavalkoinen panda ja bengaalitiikeri), The Bund ranta lähellä, vanha kaupunki lähellä jne. Hotelliväki ystävällinen ja auttavainen, korvasivat esim uudet sukat kun vanhat oli vahingossa viskattu ulos roskiksella, hyvä ja runsas aamiainen, hyvät aamulehdet englanniksi, ei suositella kävelyä liikenteen takia. チェックアウトの手続きをもう少し、早く、対応してもらいたい。

エレベーターの工事中で、騒音が少ししたが、時間帯を守って工事してくれてたので、快適だったと言える。早く、工事が終わって欲しい。 朝食が、充実、おいしかった。

　当サイトでの登録名が「シティホテル上海」だったものの、当地ではこの名称で知られておらず、「城市酒店」の名で通っていたため、ホテルに辿り着くのに想像以上の苦労をすることになった。タクシー運転手も知らない。 　日本人の利用も多いようだったが、日本語対応できるスタッフはまだまだ不十分。多少英語ができれば便利に利用できる。 　立地そのものは悪くなく、徒歩15分程度で地下鉄駅に着く。ホテル向かいにファミリーマートがあるのも便利。朝食バイキングは可もなく不可もなくだが、スタッフのサービスは悪くない。ビジネス利用や長期滞在には申し分ないコストパフォーマンスとサービスだと言える。 　全体としては満足している。
