Morrison House, a Kimpton Hotel - Alexandria

My husband and I have stayed at the Morrison three times and have fallen in-love with the charm, elegance and quaintness of the hotel and the location. The staff are exceptional and very welcoming. We would highly recommend the Morrison House for a romatic retreat.

Exceptional service at fantastic property. One of the best stays ever. Four poster bed, soft bedding, selection of tea and coffee it the morning. Absolutely loved it.

The location was great just a short walk to all the shops and great restaurants. The hotel couldn't of been any better, 5 star service and food and they pamper your pet like no other hotel we have visited. Horrendous higene in food service. Fries arrived OLD hard as a rock. Supposedly had truffles, well they did NOT. Salad was unwashed and gritty. LITTERALLY FILTHY. iwas too tired to complain and went to sleep. Room was nice but better lighting woulhave been nice.

We got there late but was greeted very well was treated with respect and the room was great.

I spent a relaxing mini-vacation during a beautiful fall weekend. The Morrison House was the perfect place to stay off of King Street. Walking distance, or a short trolly ride, to The Metro was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the many choices of restaurants and shops. The Morrison House is a beautiful building. This was our first time staying at the Morrison House and we could not have been more pleased. From the moment we drove up the staff was courteous, helpful and friendly. Our room was bright and clean. We especially enjoyed the Friday evening lounge piano bar. We will definitely visit again. An additional plus, pets are welcome!

great location, we had a room in the basement level, would have preferred higher floor, over all our experience was good.

Other than a noisy old fashioned in room air conditioner, this is a great hotel with a nice historical feel.

What a lovely hotel in the heart of Old Town Alexandria! The staff and service were superb. The "parlor", "library" (which encourages visitors to leave a just-finished book and review!), and even courtyard were so comfortable and inviting! I loved that it was pet friendly, and even though I had to leave my puppy home, the sounds of other joyful pups […] in the morning, made me feel at home! But the absolute BEST part was my visit to the Grille and experiencing entertainment by former White House pianist Bob Smith and his group with their "open mic" singers. This is no karaoke bar, but professional opera singers and others with great talent and heart performing beautiful music for diners and those just having a cocktail. What a show! They are there Tues., Fri., & Sat., evenings AND on top of that the food is exquisite. You absolutely cannot do better for the price anywhere in Alexandria! Try it! I'll certainly be back. Mehr

Lovely hotel in the lively waterfront district of Alexandria. Attractive and comfortable rooms maintained by extremely gracious staff. It will be my new home in the DC area.

Air handling system was loud and could not be adjusted. Refrigerator was loud when running. Room was in basement and there were loud noises late into the night from parties above.

This hotel continues to do the simple things well and have polite & pleasant staff who have been there for a while. They are discreet, professional and efficient. Atmosphere is quiet and pleasant, the location is really good.

I had a truly dismal subterranean room (one of 8 in the "ground floor" that were actually below street level). The room was in fact only suitable for storage or a gym. I never saw one of the above ground rooms (allegedly none were available), but whatever their amenities my recommendation would be the same. Any hotel management so arrogant as to place […] guests in the basement-at any price- does not merit my patronage. To add insult to injury, the pricing for this room was substantial. Mehr

I booked this hotel because it said it provided complimentary airport service. What it failed to state was that it did so only for Reagan International and not Dulles. I discovered this when I called the hotel to arrange for pickup. They were unable to accommodate me so I cancelled and booked a different property.

I reserved the room for my mom's visit to Alexandria last weekend and it was a wonderful experience overall. She couldn't stop gushing over how much she loved the room. The only thing, and it is a very minor point, was what appeared to be a forgotten Christmas decoration in her room which was good for a chuckle. Although this is a stylish small hotel it was a huge disappointment. The room we were given was below ground and tiny (and expensive!) and due to there being a wedding there that day (we were not told this in advance) we were not able to use all the communal areas and facilities which meant no wine reception which was included on the cost. I absolutely love this hotel. I tried out 3 different hotels over the course of one business trip to Alexandria, and this one, hands down, offered the most pleasant stay. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, the hotel itself was so classy, and the location is fantastic... everything you need is around the corner. This is the third different Kimpton hotel I've stayed in this year, and each one gets better and better. The hotels are all so different and unique, but the quality and care is consistent and excellent in all of them.

We had an incredible experience at the Morrison House. Every single staff member we encountered went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. They were so friendly and accommodating! The hotel was great - clean and charming in a wonderful neighborhood just steps from quaint King Street in Old Town. Some of the guests on our floor seemed to think the hallway was their personal living room - having long loud conversations, letting the kids run back and forth, using it as communal space around midnight. This isn't the hotel's fault, inconsiderate guests can happen to anyone, but - the room doors are thin and ill-fitting and sound from the hallway […] pours into the rooms. And logically, sound from the rooms must pour into the hallway but I can't confirm that. Some modern weatherstripping would have boosted my satisfaction with Morrison House considerably. Mehr

I can't remember service of this quality - just exceptional. This was a vacation trip, and the personal service made it all the more memorable.

My wife and I were in the middle of a military PCS move to an undisclosed location overseas and needless to say we were both a little stressed out. We were traveling with our "kids" a 70 lb hound mix dog and a 10 lb calico cat. We noticed that all Kimpton hotels are pet friendly from a previous stay. Pet friendly would be an understatement at the Morrison […] House. The gracious hotel staff left a water bowl and food bowl in our room prior to our check in, placed a litter box in the bath room for Cambria and even walked Baer not once but twice the following day before check out. The room was fantastic and the location of the hotel in Old Town Alexandria is outstanding. Our family looks forward to staying here again and we already recommend it to all of our friends and family. Mehr
