Das Mediterranean Inn liegt etwas außerhalb des Zentrums Seattles in der Nähe des Seattle Centers (mit Space Needle). Es ist bequem per Bus (tageszeitabhängiger Preis zwischen $2,25 und $2,50) zu erreichen. Gleich nebenan ist ein Starbucks, dessen Kaffeeduft in die Lobby des Hotels zieht. Unser Zimmer war mit einer Mikrowelle, Spüle und einem Kühlschrank sowie großen Flachbildschirm ausgestattet. Leider hatte es keinen Safe, was aber nicht schlimm war. Das Bad war sauber und groß. Leider ohne Fenster. Der Ausblick aus dem Zimmer ging in den Innenhof des Hotels. Schade aber nicht so schlimm, denn die Dachterrasse des Hotels erlaubt einen Blick über Seattle. Die Angestellten des Hotels machten einen netten und hilfsbereiten Eindruck und haben uns auch um 4 Uhr morgens bei unsere Abreise geholfen. Das Hotel verfügt über WLAN und ein Business Center. Das WLAN ist für $5 pro Tag nutzbar und kann mit einem Fahrradausleihprogramm (in Summe $7,99) kombiniert werden. Im Sommer bestimmt sehr sinnvoll. Das Business Center ist kostenlos nutzbar (ebenso wie die Drucker und Faxgeräte darin). Außerdem verfügt das Hotel über einen Fitnessraum und diverse Münzwaschmaschinen und Trockner). Noch etwas zur Umgebung. In unmittelbarer Nähe (3-5 min zu Fuß) sind diverse Restaurants, Kneipen und auch ein Kino. Ebenso wie ein Safeway Supermarkt.

Komfortable großzügige Zimmer, unseres mit komplett eingerichteter Küche. Sehr gutes Frühstücksbuffet mit Obst, Joghurt, Müsli etc. Minishop und ebenfalls ein kleiner Starbucks sind auch im Hotel vorhanden. Die Lage ist der einzige Minuspunkt für uns gewesen, da sehr weit vom Innenstadtbereich entfernt (zu Fuß ca. 25 Minuten). Ebenfalls direkt an der Interstate gelegen, somit 24 Stunden die Autos zu hören.

Die Vorzüge des Hotels sind eindeutig: 1.) Die ausgezeichnete Lage für Reisende die möglichst schnell (ca. 200 m zu Fuß) vom Hotel bis zu Check-In Schalter kommen möchten. Wegen der Kürze des Weges geht das sogar zu Fuß bei Regen ohne Schirm! 2.) Die unmittelbare Nähe (ca. 250 m) zum LightRail Link zwischen Flughafen und Seattle Downtown, wobei die Tageskarte ca. 5$ kostet. Fahrtzeit ca. 35 Minuten. Ansonsten war das Hotel älter in der Ausstattung (ungefähr 70er Jahre Bauzeit) mit einigen Upgrades (z.B. zwei neue Flachbildschirme). Das Standard-Zimmer (Bad, Schlafzimmer, Auftenhaltsraum) war sauber. Die Lounch und der Frühstücksbereich des Hotels gepflegt. Das Frühstück war hingegen nur Durchschnitt, so daß man eher in Seattle Downtown frühstücken möchte. Der sehr Nahe gelegene Flughafen bietet diesbezüglich auch nur wenig an. Einzige Kritikpunkte meines Zimmers auf der Seite zum Flughafen war der laute Straßenverkehr des 'Internationl Boulevard' for dem Hotel (der Fluglärm hingegen war gut erträglich). Und die Klimaanlage, welche in Seattle aber selten nötig wäre, wenn man das Fenster öffenen könnte. Das ging zwar mechanisch problemlos, aber bei dem Straßenverkehr-Krach ... Ich würde das Hotel dennoch weiterempfehlen. In der Summe war es rund.

Die Innenstadt von Seattle erstreckt sich entlang des Puget Sound vom historischen Pioneer Square im Süden bis zum schicken Belltown im Norden. Dazwischen reihen sich Bürogebäude, Einkaufsgalerien und Apartments in Backsteinhäusern an den grünen Boulevards aneinander. Hier befinden sich das Kongresszentrum und Pike Place Market, wo Lachse fliegen können. Gäste sollten auch unbedingt die futuristische öffentliche Hauptbibliothek besuchen. This is the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. I have never written a bad review about a place; usually I just skip over it if it is mediocre. But I feel I need to warn fellow travelers about this place. I did not expect much to begin with. After all, it was very cheap compared to others in the neighborhood. All I was looking for was a clean bed and […] shower in a central part of town. First of all, the bed and carpet did not look clean at all. I have stayed at Motel 6's that's better than that. The wallpaper was pealing off and part of the wall base has been replaced by 2x4s. The bathroom looked like it hasn't been touched since the building was built in 1939 (or so the guy at the front desk told me). The straw that broke the camel's back was the radiator never turned on. When I asked the front desk at around 10pm, I was told the heater would eventually turn on around midnight. So I went to a nearby bar and returned at around 1am. The heater was still not on. I decided to just sleep with my jacket on and "rough" it. At 4 am, I was so cold that I woke up. I asked the front desk about the heat again and was told the building heat turns off at 3am! It never turned on at all. So don't be fooled by the list of features - THERE IS NO CLIMATE CONTROL!!! Mehr
Small, old, somewhat depressing, sink in bathroom plugged, but fixed fairly quickly, internet only in lobby, but, of course, a Starbucks on the corner where I had my daily breakfast/cup of coffee. Don't think I would stay there again.

In contrast to some terrible other reviews I consider the hotel quite decent. Old but decent. Very conveniently located. The room was old but clean. The noise coming from outside was a bit high. Free WiFi access only from the downstairs lobby was an inconvenience. For $10 you can buy WiFi for your room.

"Bad service and filthy hotel period"
Omgosh it was so filthy!!!! And there was a young girlworking the front desk, who was completey unprofssional, and rude. Bathroom had dirt lined tub and smelled like a old man died in the room. Bed stank of mildew, ceiling floor falling apart. And while we were in the lobby waiting for our room, which by the way wasn't ready on time.... The hotel is disgusting. I would never tell any one to go stay there. It stunk and the carpets were all stained, the bed was like sleeping on concrete. The tv had 3 channels. No air conditioning. No parking, just plain horrible! DON'T EVER STAY THERE

Hotel was dirty, pipes rattled, noisy, stained carpets and linens, old tv, overall a very uncomfortable room. Only 'plus' is the location however, there were better value hotels within an 8 block radius.

The staff was friendly and the hotel was neat and clean. The heater in my room was turned off, but was still giving off a significant amount of heat. I was lucky that it was a nice night out so I could sleep with window open and that helped moderate the temperature of the room. The hotel room was clean and the staff were nice but the room was very old. It had an old radiator and the heat could not be controlled in the room. Was a little cold at night. It was a terrible stay here. You can hear everything going on outside, while your windows are closed. You hear ever car passing and every person yelling like the window is wide open. The bathroom door didn't lock. And neither of the lamps on the end tables worked. The pipes in the room rattled in the middle of the night. I'm surprised the tv worked. "Very likely the worst hotel Ive ever stayed in"
The average $40 hotel on the average highway absolutely blows this place away. Nothing you have come to expect from a hotel will be available here. No internet access NO PARKING! Are you joking? No clock No way to adjust temperature in the room No coffee in the morning No water or ice No screens on the windows, even on the 9th floor or higher. You […] can open the window and jump out if you so desire. Isnt this a violation of some kind of buiding code? Seriously, no parking. You paid for a room and they have no place to put your car. "No internet in room, couldn't turn off heat"
It was hard to control the heat in the room. It was warm outside and I ended up having to open the window to cool the room off. There is no internet in the room, which at this price, is unreasonable, I think. There is internet in the lobby. I don't watch much tv but was tired and the cable channels were few and paltry. "Very old&dirty"
Was expecting something basic but this was far below my expectations for the price. No parking available, the reception recommends the most expensive one in the neighbourhood ($35/24 hours), we were able to find one very close for $23/24 hours. Bathroom was very dirty, we didn't even take a shower. The condition of the room and carpet: dirty and bad […] maintained. Bedding was ok, beds are short though - even for 5'5' person like myself. Heating is supposed to be on between 6-8 pm and 11 pm - 6am only. But even on a quite cold day it was turned on only after a call to the reception at 7 pm. All i can say is this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at ! Our sheets were dirty . There were cracks in the ceiling. And we were freezing!! Come to find out you don't have control of the heat in your room. They turn the heater on from 5-7pm!! Which ours didn't turn on till 6 pm! It was snowing in Seattle that day felt like it could snow […] in our room. Also be aware that if you want to park your car it cost an extra $35.00!! I had a horrible experience. The customer service was poor. The front desk employee was rude and she treated me bad. The hotel room was small, smelly and unsanitary.

To all unfavorable reviewers I say: chill out. So it's an aging building. Adds character. I love the lived-in look and feel. I come through Seattle a lot on my way to Vancouver and there's no better value in the city for budget travelers (save for a hostel). No nonsense. Centrally located. Yeah........read all of the reviews.......mostly negative...... and I can see their point.......in some ways.....yet, my daughter and loved the joint. Talk about a cool, funky, place......old school in all ways......but you could not have a better location at a better price. Save the rental car fees, $40 a night to park there! From here, you can walk […] everywhere that you may what to: Pikes, Ferry station, shopping district, Pioneer Square, etc. Great restaurants, Starbucks and brew pubs all very close by! Hey, we are very active........it was a place to sleep and take a hot shower......... No microwave, fridge, or coffee pot.......but a nice Starbucks right next store.........with WiFi, of course, and the hotel lobby has WiFi but not the rooms. Just want the folks out there to make an informed decision......not for everyone.........you want fancy, there are plenty to choose from........very expensive, especially if you have a car. P.S. a taxi from the airport is $40 anyway you look at it. The new Light Rail is $2.75 but you have to walk with your bags from the airport over to the station. Close-by not a big deal but if you have two bags each, could be a hassle. The rail runs everywhere.....dropped us a block from the hotel.......' "Well…the location was great."
Located exactly where you want to be in downtown Seattle. Close to everything. The hotel itself was like a time capsule from the 1970's. This is to say, nothing about this place resembled a modern hotel. The elevator was ricketty and slow, the door locks were antiquated without deadbolts. The old doorknob lock was all that stood between all our possesions […] and the outside world, and I was a bit uneasy leaving my stuff there while we went exploring. Inside the room, we were greeted by large pieces of wallpaper peeling off the walls. Everything from the curtains to the bedding was quite old and subsequently, you kinda questioned the cleanliness of the place. My cousin and I stayed there and we're fairly young guys so we just laughed a lot and bared it. However, this should never be mistaken as a romantic place to bring a significant other for any reason. Most girlfriends would probably have deemed this place to be totally unacceptable. The Hotel Seattle is an inexpensive place for dudes to crash when in town to party. That's it. I don't know if there's a 'Hotel Makeover' show, but if there was, this place would be a prime candidate for a complete overhaul. Mehr

This place was close to all the places I needed to go, and the price was right. Everything else was a disappointment, though. "For a short stay..."
...this hotel will do, but it won't do for a longer stay. I booked this hotel in order to attend a conference and to interview--I stayed in Seattle for about a day and a half. While the hotel was in a nice location for where I was interviewing, the service was mediocre, at best, and the room was not very comfortable. First, the carpet in the hotel […] room looked as if it has been there for 25+ years with little to no padding underneath. Second, when I took a shower, the water temperature changed from warm to cool, to hot, to cold, to scalding hot in a matter of minutes. Third, the service was ok, but it seemed to take a bit longer to get the basic service expected out of a hotel--such as buzzing me in when I first arrived at the hotel. Finally, the hotel restaurant/bar is only open for breakfast and lunch, and the bartender was a bit off-putting and, occasionally, unknowingly offensive to some patrons (yet, she still seemed unconcerned about such offenses). All-in-all, it was fine for a day and a half, but if I had to stay in Seattle longer, I would have switched to a different hotel. Mehr
"Gross! But cheap and a great location."
Perhaps in keeping with city's grunge history, this is one of the grimiest hotels I've ever stayed in. The carpet is old and stinky, the paint is peeing from the ceiling and the wallpaper is coming off the walls, and the grouting is coming loose in the bathroom. There were long hairs stuck to the wall of the shower and you can actually see the paths […] that the vacuum travels because they stand out agains the gray dirt where it doesn't go. TV gets six stations, four of them appear to shopping and one other had shows about trapping animals. The room was noisy but the neighbors were not. Wifi only in the lobby, not the rooms. On the upside, it was cheap, the staff made the most of their circumstances and the hotel was in a great location and, as far as I can tell, I did not bring home any bed bugs. Mehr

Old hotel and furniture, a big make-over is overdue. Feels very dark and does not match price range.Things fall apart, had to switch room due to constant loud noise from malfunctioning toilet flush. Service was friendly.

"Great location, but picky travelers avoid"
The price is right, and the location is amazing. It's just across the street from the light rail, so it's convenient to the airport with no need to rent a car or take a cab; it's less than a 10 minute walk to the convention center; there's plenty of food nearby; and it's pretty close to the water. This is an old hotel with small rooms and very few […] amenities. The employees were friendly and took care of everything I needed from them, but they have a small staff, and if you want something (e.g. an iron) you will probably have to ask for it. There was a medium-high amount of road noise in the room (unsurprising for the old windows). The water pressure in the shower was acceptable but somewhat low. If you want a cab, have the desk call one for you; they seem to be sporadic in the area, and you may not have much luck hailing one on your own. Basically, if you're a laid back traveler wanting to save money and stay in this area, Hotel Seattle is exactly what you're looking for. If you're on the picky side, this is not what you're looking for. Mehr

It's true, the hotel is old, but we loved it! Perfect for a place to crash when seeing a show at the Showbox. We just had to find parking, then went from our hotel to the show and easily stumbled back at the end of the night! The hotel was very convenient and affordable for me overnight between Amtrak trains. It is a very basic accomodation, and the desk clerks are not very engaged with the guests. There is an excellent, reasonably-priced restaurant attached to the hotel. Also, it is only 3 blocks from a very good YMCA, which was good for me as an avid swimmer.

The location is great....middle of downtown seattle. Close to everything....but only for one maybe two nights. Its a "vintage" hotel, that needs a lot of TLC....I mean a LOT of TLC. I would stay there again if I were traveling alone...I would not stay there with my Family, at all. No wifi, unless in the lobby. First the positive, just one block fron the Link Rail coming/going to the Sea Tac airport (just a .75 one way ticket for seniors). Added to this breakfast at the hotel dining room 5.50 for each of three breakfast specials including coffee and cheerful service. Our room was in need of help, stained carpets, insufficient curtains, old bed, sub-standard […] bathroom, cheap linens. All this for more than we paid for the charming hotel in Victoria! Mehr
