Aston Islander on the Beach - Kapaa

Nettes, ruhiges, sauberes Hotel für Selbstversorger im Bungalowstil mit gepflegter Außenanlage und direkt am Strand, wie ja der Name schon sagt. Kühlschrank und Kaffemaschine auf dem Zimmer. 1A Supermarkt und diverse Restaurants/Geschäfte nur 2km entfernt. WIFI leider nur in der Lobby. Auf dem Zimmer gab es ein LAN Kabel. Der Login hat aber nicht funktioniert. […] Waschmaschinen, Eismaschinen usw. alles vorhanden. Man kann seine eigenen Sachen abends am Pool grillen. Kostenloser Parkplatz. Strand, Na, ja. Es gibt schönere, aber für einen Kauai Sonnenaufgang ideal. Empfehlenswert als "Basislager" zum Übernachten, wenn man ein Auto hat. Mehr

Das Hotel hat alles: Strand, Pool, Gartenlandschaft zu einem guten Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Die Zimmer sind sauber und bieten alles was man braucht. Das Beste war, dass man es mit dem Bus gut erreichen kann. Also optimal für Rucksackreisende. (Kalalaua Trail). Ich kann das Hotel nur empfehlen.

Uns wurde eine Upgrade als freudige Überraschung zugesagt. Als wir dann das Zimmer sahen, hatten wir nur ein Kingbett im Zimmer und nicht wie gebucht zwei Doppelbetten. Der Ozeanblick war keiner, weil alles in 4 Zonen eingeteilt ist. Gardenview, partiell Oceanview, Oceanview und Oceanfront. Wir hatten partiell Oceanfront gebucht und erhielten ein Zimmer […] welches in den Garten zeigte und hinter einem Haus stand. Begründung des Hotels, partiell Oceanview beinhaltet nur 10 % Ozeanblick. Das ist Betrug und nicht akzeptabel. Ungepflegter Strand. Alter Bau, der mal frisch gestrichen wurde. Kein Aufzug vorhanden. Gepäck muß vom Parkplatz bis zu unserem Zimmer ca. 300m getragen werden und in den 3. Stock selbst hochgebracht werden. Am späten Abend kein Parkplatz verfügbar. Mehr

Sehr gute Lage, da man in beide Richtungen (N/S) alle Ziele gut erreichen kann, sehr ruhig, direkt am Meer gelegen und unbedingt zu empfehlen!

Das Zimmer war groß und geräumig. Es gab eine großen Balkon mit seitlichem Blick auf das Meer. Leider wurde der Garten der Hotelanlage nicht besonders gepflegt. Die außen installierten Klimaanlagen waren sehr verrostet. Die Anlage wirkte etwas lieblos. Zudem verweilten Hähne im Garten , die zeitweise die Nacht hindurch krähten.

Hatten zwei Reservierungen und wollten Termin Umbuchung Rezeption war nicht hilfsbereit und wollte sofort Geld sehen

Noch vor ein paar Jahren als Resort Quest Islander on the Beach waren die Appartements in besserem Zustand. Wir hatten einen Oceanfront Room der schon ziemlich 'gebraucht' war. Das Appartement war nicht vollständig eingerichtet. Zuwenig Parkplätze beim Hotel, abends oft alle besetzt.

The people were friendly, but the room was out of date. Also, a musty smell. Not unusual for the islands, but more than normal. I was tucked in the back by the service area. I was on business, so one night it was fine. For a vacation, it wouldn't be my choice.

the room was nicely appointed but small. It had a balcony with a side ocean view. There was a pool near the beach. Small, but had a nice palapa bar. no restaurant, but a couple nicer ones nearby. The beach was small, and only swimable in a few areas, and lots of driftwood all over it. The parking was convenient enough and the grounds were maintained […] well. very comfortable

This hotel was located in an area with several other hotels. The local food in the area was reasonably priced we loved the fish hut and Harelys. You have everything you need within a 2 min walking distance so you don't need a rental car if you just want to enjoy the beach and have access to all the things you need. The staff was so wonderful and sweet. […] The room included unlimited free movie rentals and they had the latest movies so the kids were happy to relax and watch a movie when the sun went down. I absolutely loved the location, staff and hotel I will make sure I stay here next time I go to Kauai. It was like having our own private beach, there was a lot of drift wood on the beach but we only saw 2 other people on the beach during our 4 day visit, much quieter and nicer than a crowded resort. Overall I loved our stay at this hotel and I think anyone who stays here would to. Mehr

Really nice hotel in a great location with beautiful grounds and a wonderful beach. Amenities (fridge, micowave) in room were great. Very good restaurants within walking distance. A very enjoyable stay.

Power outage on the first day arrive. No light or any person takes me to the room. Spent 10 mins looking my room. No light, emergency light or safety light at hotel. Extra charge for Internet fee( before booked, showed free Internet and parking)

We loved this place so much we came back three times in 9 days. We started with a one night stay, oceanfront room. It's about 50 feet from the beach and you see the waves braking on the shore from your bed when you wake up. The bed is comfortable and there is a small kitchenette in every room (frig, sink, microwave, coffee). Also in the ocean front […] rooms there is a couch. All rooms have private balconies or ground floor porches where you can walk out on the beach. BBQ's by pool if you want to cook there. Nice Pool and Pool Bar and great jacuzzi next to pool. Mostly adults here and very mellow but not too quiet in that you can go to the pool/bar and mingle with the guests or sit quietly at your room. We to the Kiahuna Plantation also which was beautiful but a lot of kids and the beach was packed. Also went to Waimea Plantation which was very rustic but clean and too quiet for us. We went in March. Rates were almost twice for oceanfront then at Islander. So back to the Islander for our last night! Mehr

my room leak at the foot of the bed.. ?? was it me,, just old NICE STORM 2012

We had torrential rain and flash flooding during our stay here which impacted on our experience at the hotel. The laundromat onsite only opened to 10pm which was very inconvenient when we had a lot of wet clothing to wash. Not enough parking onsite. We were turned off by the $10 per day resort fee which was suppose to be for wired internet access, ps2 […] dvds, local newspaper. Due to the torrential rain and road closures we weren't able to go out in the evening so our entertainment was hiring DVDs (which you are only limited to 2 DVDs out at a time) and watching them via the ps2. The ps2 did not work, remote to tv did not work, CRT quality was bad. We weren't able to get hot water running the first night which we were told that we had to wait for the hot water system to warm up and perhaps maybe too many people were using the hot water at the same time in the block. The actual issue was that the hot water switch for our room was not turned on. Despite the negatives the room was a good size room, clean and was equipped with a fridge and microwave. Mehr

The hotel's rooms are fairly comfortable and and the landscaping is really lovely, but those were really the only redeeming qualities. I arrived late on a Saturday night and there was zero parking available. The staff member checking me in said that there is a bar down the street and that people from there park in the hotel lot. I was told to park in […] the red zone and told I wouldn't get towed. I was worried the whole night and upset that they don't designate parking spaces for hotel guests. I had booked for partial ocean view and learned that "partial" is the key word. From the first floor, I definitely could not see the ocean. Mehr

The hotel will charge you for an “Amenity Fee”. This fee is to cover Internet access, unlimited DVD, and a “free” local newspaper… Well…here is my experience: 1) Internet: The internet access is poor and wired, and the RJ45 connector was broken, so, I had to hold with one hand the cable all the time, otherwise I would loose connection. I got so frustrated […] that I just gave up. 2) Unlimited DVDs: There is a machine in the laundry room where you can select DVDs, no many titles, but a fair amount. When I put the DVD in the DVD player, I was able to watch 5% of the movie because the machine shut down by itself. I tried several times with the same result. Again I got frustrated and gave up. 3) Free local newspaper? I really don’t care about it… When I was doing the check out, the front desk employee asked me for a credit card to pay for this fee. I gave her my credit card, and I was going to let it go. When I commented my problem with the internet access, and the DVD she had some attitude, and she was careless, so, I get really mad, and I decide to fight for it. She charged my anyways. I requested the manager, and a very nice lady, took care and refunded me the charges without hesitation. It’s a nice hotel, I have been there several times when it didn’t belong to the Aston chain; I might go again, but I will be very careful about any extra fee. Mehr

The only thing I really disliked was being hit for a $10.00 per day "resort fee" after already having paid for the room. Supposedly this included internet in the room, but it didn't work and I doubt it worked in very many rooms because a lot of people were in the lobby using the wifi there. I mean, the resort fee was for pool towels, free local calls […] (like no one has a cell phone), and other things that are included in the price of the room like cable tv. It's just a rip off to advertise these things and then hit you with another charge once you get there. Mehr

Nicely located hotel with complimentary breakfast. Ok bar and grill. Our room (2005) was nice, quite small but clean. Only downside was a lot of noise from the elevators. Staff was nice and helpful.

Convenient location. Easy stay and convenient to most amenities. Well priced.

The Islander Beach Hotel was a very nice hotel with great food places within walking distance. The day we were there they had a Great New years Eve party!!

Not a bad place to stay. We were a little turned off by $10 dollars a day they automatically charged us for access to ps2 games and dvds. Other than that it was a great place to stay. Really nice setup with good fridge space and a microwave. Made our stay really relaxed.

We were delighted with this lovely hotel, in a perfect location, close to great restaurants, shops and with easy access to places of interest ! The service was excellent,with quick response to needs from a very warm, helpful staff. The grounds are beautiful, and the beach was steps away from our room, with gorgeous views and beach chairs along the shore. We […] would definitely stay at the Aston Islander on the Beach again! The room was very spacious, quiet, furniture was beautiful. Only neg thing was the spa was too crowded!! The view was fantastic! Staff was very friendly and helpful.

We only stayed one night at the Aston Islander, but would glady go back again and stay again for a longer period of time. The hotel was excellent in all areas. We reserved a city-view room and were upgraded to the city-view suite on the 17th floor. The staff made us feel very much at home. Highly recommended!

The Aston Islander on the Beach is a wonderful hotel for the value. You're convenient to most activities, restaurants and shopping on the island, and the hotel is a great value. While there is no restaurant on site, the Coconut Marketplace is on premises so there are a number of choice there -- as well as a refrigerator in your room. Microwave plus coffee maker but no toaster. They say the rooms are not for cooking, but then, why a micowave...purchased a toaster at Walmart. Otherwise room and service and location very nice.

Aston Islander is located in Kapaa which is somewhat midway between Waimea Canyon Park and Hanalei so driving times to either end of highway is reasonable. Close to the hotel are supermarket chains Foodland and Safeway. Cooked food is available at the Coconut Marketplace, a short walk from the hotel. The hotel collects a daily resort amenity fee from […] some guests but we were told that our reservation through hotel.com did not require this fee to be paid. As a result, we were not entitled to free in-room Internet, local calls, newspaper and coffee. Free Wifi is available at the lobby area. Hotel pool is quite small and the jacuzzi is very crowded most times. Overall good value for money. Mehr

we loved our stay. The rooms were very nice, we loved the hot tub! It was nice being right on the beach!

This is a wonderful laid back resort that my husband and friends have enjoyed several times. The only negative thing about it, is be sure to check flight times against check out times. The check out time was 12 noon but our flight did not leave the island until 1030pm, and we were unable to get extended stay or even an extra day. I understand they were […] sold out, but there should be some other accomodation made other than a place to put your luggage. You can use the pool, & beach with no way to clean up. Mehr

I loved this hotel. Rooms were cleaned and comfortable. They had a fridge, a microwave and a wet bar. I would stay in this place again.

Overall the hotel is good: good location, closed to the ocean, there is laundry, wifi at the reception. A few minuses: - No wifi in the room, internet via cable - cold stone floor - sometimes it was difficult to find a free parking slot, but we found anyway, sometimes with a help of a parking clerk.

This is a great stay. You cant 'cook' a complete meal but with a mini sink, refrig, microwae, dishes/silverware for your convenience, you can do well with ingenuity. Its very close to a shopping plaza with "affordable" places to eat. Very close access to the ocean. Even though the main office was under construction, you would not have known. it was […] of no inconvenience to us. If there is a negative, it would be parking. just does seem to be enough. .. Pool is no good and Bed was old. Felt like bed and pillows were 10 years old and was kinda gross. Felt like bed bugs were on us all night. Beach rooms have great sunrise though. They need new bedding and it would've been ok for the price if you don't want a nice beach or pool to hang out at.

Great rooms, people, and rates!

Perfect location. Ocean a bit rough, but pretty much same thing as the other islands that we visited. Definitely go back.

Loved the hotel - clean, great views, really nice pool area and the location is perfect as it is easy to go to the north and south side of the island from here. The only problem we had was that if you stay out past 7pm, you have to check in with a security guard (in the parking lot) to get a special parking pass to park in the hotel lot next door because […] the hotel parking lot isn't big enough for all of the guests. Hotel is in great location however they were remodeling the loby during our stay

The staff were very welcoming. We were thrilled to be upgraded to a suite for out honeymoon which was fanastic with lovely views of the grounds and the sea. The activities desk on site is very useful and they are knowledgeable about various things you can do on the island. Nice pool and jacuzzi with pool bar.
