Wir möchten immer ein Zimmer zum Hof haben und nicht eines im angrenzenden Hotelgebäude. Ich habe deshalb schon die teurere Zimmerkategorie gebucht mit 2 Betten. Aber wie letztes Mal 10 Dollar Upgrade gezahlt. Aber dafür super freundlicher Service. Super Preis Leistungsverhälltnis für San Francisco und tolle lage zu Fuß 5-10Minuten zur Fisherman-Warf. Auch parken für 12 Dollar in San Francisco ,es sind es in den meisten anderen Hotels 25-50 Dollar.Jederzeit wieder.

Das Zimmer war schön geräumig. Allerdings fehlten Tisch und Stuhl, um im Sitzen zu schreiben. Ersatzweise erhielt ich Zugang zum Nachbarzimmer, das wegen eines Defekts im Bad frei war. WLAN hat gut funktioniert. Frühstück war inklusive, reichlich und abwecklungsreich

"Charakteristisches kleines Hotel"
Vom Hotel aus alles gut zu erreichen - wir haben viel zu Fuss gemacht. Es ist nicht alles direkt um die Ecke, aber gut erreichbar.

doch eigentlich müssen wir sagen das wir im großen und ganzen Zufrieden waren. Sie Lage ist top, die Zimmer sind ok und der Preis stimmt auch.
"Hotel entspricht nicht 3-Sterne Niveau"
Wir haben für 3 Personen gebucht, was wir bekommen haben, war schlussendlich ein Zimmer das höchsten für 2 Personen Platz bietet (1 Queensize-bed). Das Hotel ist sehr alt und renovationsbedürftig. Es ist zudem sehr hellhörig und der Lift ist so alt, dass er 3 Tage ausser Betrieb gesetzt wurde, damit er repariert werden konnte. Das war unangenehm, dadurch, […] dass wir unser Hotelzimmer im 5. Stock hatten und das Treppenhaus sehr schmal ist, so dass 2 Personen nicht gleichzeitig aneinander vorbei gehen können. Das Frühstück ist sehr schmal und der Service noch schlechter. Die Bedienung an der Rezeption war auch nicht besonders freundlich. Es kann ein Zusatzbett für 10 Dollar pro Nacht bestellt werden. Dieses ist jedoch so unangenehm (sehr dünne Matratze und sehr alt), dass man überhaupt nicht schlafen kann. Mehr
Das Hotel ist zwar freundlich und nett eingerichtet. Die Angestellten waren ebenfalls nett. Zwar war das reservierte Zimmer nicht bereit und es war nicht klar welches Zimmer uns zusteht. Check-In 30 Min. Wir hatten während 3 Wochen USA Aufenthalt nie ein so lautes und kaltes (ohne Aircondition) Zimmer wie in diesem Hotel. Das Hotel verfügt über keine […] Parkmöglichkeit. Mit einem Grossen Wagen belaufen sich die täglichen Parkkosten auf ca 50 $. (angaben auf Webseite waren 25$) Das Frühstück ist gut, wir hatten jedoch kein Tag an dem kein Platzproblem bestand und immer lange Schlangen vor dem Toaster oder dem Waffeleisen waren. Für Morgenmuffel wie mich kein Zustand. Ich/wir würden sicher nicht mehr in diesem Hotel buchen Mehr

The staff was great... the location was perfect. Could walk to lots of places and cabs were easy to get. My bed and pillows were so comfy. My home away from home for the week. I'd stay there again. They had wine and cheese in the evening and a work-out room.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel the location was great in walking distance to Union Square,where were able get on&off tour bus.We really enjoyed the wine and cheese hour.The front desk staff was very helpful in our tour planning.

"Overpriced, old, dirty"
This hotel is a full two city blocks from Union Square. I have stayed at several hotels closer to Union Square that were much nicer and cleaner and that cost less. This hotel is overpriced. The rooms are old and stained. The guest services were poor.

It's true, you're offered a free chilled shot of tequila at check-in! The desk employee was very friendly and check in was very smooth. The room, like you would expect in a city, is smallish. For two people, a queen room is fine. Flat screen wall-mounted tv is nice. Bathroom is nice but water pressure was very, very low. I'd definitely stay here again […] if I'm on a budget! Mehr

When I check into a hotel and they give me a chilled shot of tequila at check in, I say Hallelujah!!! Then free wine and cheese at 5:00 in the mezzinine, free delicious breakfast in the restaraunt, and the valet parking is $20 cheaper than everywhere else in town, loved it!!! "One problem"
You list free parking on your site (Hotels.com) and it isn't true. I complained at the front desk and they tell me they have been asking you to remove that for months. Get you act together. 3 days parking = $100.00
"Best Western Hotel California"
Although the breakfast is included, it is horrible that the content never changes every morning (within our five days stay). In the 7th floor, the water pressure is not strong that you cannot enjoy a comfortable shower. The locus is good and gym is free. Overall is not bed.

I have stayed here many times and enjoy the layout, location, and the 4 star people that run it. The one thing to watch out for is that it is right on Geary street so don't expect a quite nights sleep!

There were two major problems with the hotel which iverwhelmed the convenient location: (1) Street noise - made sleep extremely difficult ad room insulation did nothing, (2) Rooms need upgrading - paint peeling, window coverings ... - all show signs of needing work!

Two bedroom suite was perfect for four of us but would not have worked if the five people booked in that room had all come! Clean, with friendly people, typical mediocre free breakfast but lots of places nearby to find outstanding meals.

The firstthing that you notice is the very musty and old smell of the hotel. The staff said "well, the hotel is over 100 years old. The room was like a closet. No table, one chair, old towels that had seen better days. Breakfast buffet was good. Concierge service was excellent in setting up tours and bus service. Location was central to sights, TV set […] onmly had very limited selection of channels, beds were comfrotable although mattress sagged terribley towards center. I would not stay there again especially since their rates werenot inexpensive as compared to more modern hotels in the area. Mehr

Near Union Square, we loved the location. It was an easy walk to great shopping and restaurants. The room was adorable. There was a very nice breakfast in the morning as well. It felt like old-time San Francisco. We had a great time.

Everything about this hotel was excellent for the price...location, cleanliness, continental breakfast, employees' attitude. The elevator was out of order for most of my 2-night stay, which could have been a problem for people who aren't able climb stairs. I would hope that it would be permanently fixed or replaced before too long.

staff was wonderful--room adequate---location was convenient but if you are a light sleeper, there were clubs right on the street below and were jumping until the wee hours, so sleep can be compromised..there are many hotels in the same area that may be a little less noisey.

"Great deal near union square"
A great hotel with many extras. Great breakfast every morning as well as a manager's wine reception every evening. Friendly staff and just a 5 minute walk from union square.
"Very Small and Old Rooms"
We stayed at the hotel California for 4 nights at the end of September. The check in process was easy and convenient. The hotel is located only a few blocks from union square which was very convenient. However, as a result there are many homeless individuals surrounding the hotel and it is surrounded by neighborhoods which we found to be somewhat unsafe. […] We stayed in a standard room which was incredibly small -- even for a boutique hotel. There was barely enough room to lay a suitcases on the floor and still have room to walk to the bathroom. The safe in the room was also broken. When we informed the front desk of the safe we were informed that almost all the in-room safes were broken. They did however allow us to lock up our valuables and passports at the front desk free of charge. The other major issue was that the toilet in our room was nearly broken -- the rocked back and forth when you sat on it! Unbelievable! On the plus side, they do offer free Wi-Fi and there is also a computer for public use. Overall, although there were some okay features about this hotel the cons outweigh the pros and I would not stay there again. Mehr

Not a bad place. Good location, reasonable breakfast and free internet. Room fine but too hot and advertised extra fan not available. Water will not stay in bath., alarm clock not working. Because it was a warm few days lack of air con was a problem for us.

They told us that after we got the car in the garage and the bags in the room we should return to the check-in for our complementary shot of Tequila.
