New York Marriott Marquis - New York

we did not have our room ready when we arrived, so we were upgraded. that's always nice! the room that was provided to us was on the 31st floor. the water pressure in the shower was horrible and the a/c unit that was a ceiling mount inside the restroom ceiling was horribly noisy. room service was great though... overall, not a bad experience.

Only issue was wireless wasn't free in the room. And the it was very slow. For the price of the room it should have been included.

This hotel is in the best spot possible. Its in Times Square and mid-town Manhattan. It is within walking distance of lots of sights and restaurants. We got in late and the check in was fast and easy. Our room had a partial view of Times Square and we really enjoyed it! There were no noise issues. On the last day, we checked our bags in with Guest Services […] as we were leaving on a late train and it was very convenient for us to retrieve them later in the day. Overall, we were happy with the choice and would not hesitate to stay there again. Mehr

Hotel was great, however we were told we would have a three o'clock checkin but our room wasn't ready until 6.

It was a great hotel, the service was amazing, the location was amazing. The fitness facialty was top notch. The View restaurant was amazing. We enjoyed our stay and would recomend this hotel to anyone who wishing to visit NY.

everything was very nice one complaint 18.00 per day for internet in ridiculous that might be a reason to choose other hotels its not the money its the principle

We asked for a room with king size bed for our anniversary and we ended up with 2 small full size bed , so we had to sleep in seperetly on our anniversary....

I stayed at this hotel for couple of days in Jan'12. Pros : Excellent inside decor, nice staff, clean Amazing architecture inside that you can't realize looking from outside. Spacious, many restaurants and conference rooms. Cons : Very expensive parking (eight bucks) ! Be ready for a looting operation for valet parking by this hotel and any parking […] garage around Time Square (sixty) for 24 hour parking. Took longer to check in. Only two agents on 12 booths in prime time. In spite paying top rate, I felt that there were several things that were ignored. Like sink pop plunger would not close. Efficient toilet system would not flush in one go. TV had only few channels and poor reception. for Internet you pay extra ! Elevators were plenty but felt like lot of waste of energy and efficiency. You can't change your exit once you are in elevator as there are *no* buttons inside to choose the floors. Security was weak. Anyone can walk in this hotel and come all the way to your room door. Street exits to various streets are not marked. Mehr

My husban and I stayed here just before Christmas for out Anniversary and it was perfect all around!!!!

The room and location were great. The only reason I did not give this a 5 was because of the view. Although we were high up, we faced the side of a building. We would have appreciated a view of the strip. Since we visit NY every year (family) we would consider staying there but it's not a definite. We can get much better for the bucks!

Marriot Marquis in New York, New York was so beautiful and elegant and comfortable. I loved it so much!!! I did not want to leave.

Me and my sister stayed there for a week, it was her first time in NY, and my 4th time, the staff were lovely, they went out there way to make sure you enjoyed your stay. The room was gorgeous, beautiful view of times square, really couldn't ask for more and will be more than happy to stay there when I go back :D 10/10 for service and stay.

Booked a room with a Time Square View. Excellent view. Housekeeping service slow, but after the first day called and asked for service when we left the room. Wonderful hotel bar for people watching and relaxing. Close to everything on Broadway. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt treated like VIPs, not the mere tourists we really were. The service throughout our stay was exceptional -- very friendly, very personable, with nice personal touches at every turn. Example: When I mentioned to Fred at the Reception Desk that this trip was a surprise birthday treat for my wife, […] he quickly arranged for a complimentary treat to be sent up to our room. Later, at The View bar, our server, Helene, brought us a complimentary dessert with a candle, and encouraged other patrons to sing! All operations are streamlined and efficient -- even the elevators -- a marvel of good design and efficiency. Don't miss The View -- the revolving restaurant and bar at the top of the hotel, with a chocolate fountain as the centerpiece to an amazing dessert buffet. (And hotel guests don't pay the $8 cover charge.) Tip: if you're there for a special reason, don't be shy about letting staff know; they seemed to really ENJOY being "in on it", and it makes the service even more personal and enjoyable for all concerned. If you want to be in the heart of Times Square -- this hotel is the place. You couldn't ask for a better location! Like most high end Marriotts -- the staff is very well trained and ready to serve. They're eager to be helpful, whether this is your first or fifty-first visit to NYC. The rooms are good sized for NYC and the hotel's amenities are excellent. My […] one beef is that when you're paying this kind of money for a hotel room -- to be dinged $17/day for internet is ridiculous. Its really convenient location, good service..

We stayed the week of New Year's Eve 2011. Our floor(26th Floor) had major construction going on with dust, saws, hammering, banging and knocking every day. I can't believe this hotel would charge premium fees for their rooms during New Year's Eve and inconvenience their guest with major construction noise daily. We checked in early around 12pm, the […] front desk did not make us aware that they had major construction going on in the hotel and then gave us a room on the 26th floor right next to where the construction was going on. No one told us that this hotel was under major construction when booking on-line nor when checking into the hotel. Mehr

It's strategic. Best location in Times Square. Big room & toilet and very clean. Two starbucks in the hotel premises! Would definitely stay there again.

This is a great hotel for the theatre district. It has lots of amenities - good restaurants, Starbucks, etc. However, the pillows are like rubber and I was "strongarmed" into "upgrading" to a larger room for a substantial rate increase. I didn't think there should be anything wrong with the room I reserved through Hotels.com but the clerk made it sound […] like I was getting a tiny room with a bad view. when I upgraded I had a view of the office building across the street and the room was the same as the ones I had before at a lower rate. Marriott should do better than using tactics like this. Also, I've had trouble with their pillows before - unlike the Hiltons and Westins which have great bedding. Mehr

Have stayed here three times now and would return again. It is in need of some renovation; carpets wrinkled up and windows need washed. Need to pick up trays/dishes outside of rooms after room service, dirty dishes in the hall all day. Perfect location in Times Square. Certainly overpriced and could not afford if we did not split it among room guests. […] It was very busy when we were there but the staff assist with the elevator and keep things moving. Big rooms and nice separated bathroom. Loved the view (could have appreciated it better with a clean window). Can't wait to return!! Mehr

The Marriott Marquis is located centrally in Midtown. It's near everywhere you want to go or get there. I would stay there in a heartbeat.

Excellent as always. In Times Square area well woth the slight increase in price over other hotels. SAFE in surrounding area.

We stayed on the 40th floor time square view. Amazingly large room for NY. Excellent view, Great staff, very helpful concierge with getting play tickets, directions, etc. A definate consideration for your stay.

You can't have a better location than this hotel. Was beautiful, clean and the service was great. If you really want the NYC experience...this is pricey, but well worth it!

We stayed here a week. The hotel seemed tired and dated, with cracks badly painted over in the room. Its location was great. However, the service was appalling for a hotel of it's brand and apparent calibre. Breakfast, lunch or dinner most of the waiters did not appear to want to be there and avoided eye contact when you were trying to get their attention. […] We did complain about the time taken at bar service in the evening (over one hour to get a snack). Nothing changed although we received an apology. Room service didn't clean until early evening even if out all day and trays with dinner dishes were not collected for almost 24 hrs from rooms (left in corridors). Sub standard. Very disappointing for the Marriott brand. I wouldn't use it again unless they had improved. Mehr

The Marriott Marquis is very conveniently located in Times Square. It is a nice, fancy hotel, but it lacks basic amenities of a 21st century hotel. Things I can expect at a Holiday Inn were missing. There is no refrigerator or even a microwave in the room. No pool. There is no free internet access (wireless or otherrwise). They want $17/day/device for […] internet. Of course there is no free breakfast. This is priced as a high-end hotel, but unfortunately the basics aren't there. Mehr

Good experience except, hotel had some trouble locating our reservation and cross referencing it to hotel.com

Marriott employee had a little trouble finding our reservation and cross referencing with hotel.com; especially the second half of the reservation. Caused me a little anxiety in the process. The hotel was great although it could have been a little cleaner.

A super good hotel, an unforgettable experience.

everything was perfect, stayed there 5 days on a vacation with wife..I did feel the revolving resteraunt on top was over rated. the service was great but the view is blocked by too many taller buildings close by. Also most revolving resturants are in a round dome. this one makes a circle in side a square building so part of the time you are looking […] at the inside structure. too pricey for the experance! The hotel as I said was perfect and location was in the middle of everything.Plan to say there our next trip! Mehr

Location, location, location. Location can't be beat and the hotel is nice. However, I'd recommend only for a very special occasion or for those with a large budget as it is very expensive.

The Marriott Marquis is the only place to stay in New York! Great location and service! Our room was spacious and clean. We will stay there again for our next visit!

Only downside was the pillows - one rock hard, the other so soft it was practically non-existent.

Don't be fooled by the address of the Marriott Marquis.It' should read just Times Sq.You walk out the front door,and you are right in the thick of the action.You can get the subway to almost anywhere from times square (42nd street),the port authority bus terminal is blocks away,and Penn Station (subway,Long island Rail,and Amtrak) is a few blocks away.There […] is so much variety of food and shopping in the area,you could just stay around Times Square (obviously you wouldn't) The hotel itself is excellent.There are plenty of staff to assist with your every need.On checkout day,we'd been charged for the restaurant the day before.I rang and queried the charge,and within 10 to 15 mins,the problem was resolved. Two things I would point out.Parking looked expensive,so driving would be costly.However,you wouldn't need a car in NY anyway,with so many options to get around.The second is their internet.It's a little pricey.No complimentary wi-fi.But,there are many places around,that offer free wi-fi,that its not hard to take your device somewhere and sit down for a coffee or drink for a few mins,and use their free service.I would highly recommend the Marriott Marquis at Times Square. Good hotel for the mid-town location & price. Nice, comfortable & spacious by NYC standards. Great for a family or a business trip.

the Marquis is a great place to stay if you want to take in the insanity of Times Square and watch it all from your room. The "ammenities" are pretty pathetic in the room. No fridge, no mini bar and few TV channels. The bathroom was marginally clean and the towels scratchy and not four star. It's a fun place to stay but don't expect luxury.

We loved being in Time Square and so close to everything, including the subway. I would recommend Maxwell's as a place to eat to anyone wanting a great place to eat. And 8th and 9th street for drinks being less expensive. Maxwell's was the only place we ate in New York I would recommend to anyone. We loved that our breakfast was included in our price […] of the room. We would definitely stay there again. Everyone was very helpful if needed to know which direction was a place we were looking for. We loved the revolving bar and restaurant on top gave you a great view, but did not like the extra charge to get there after 8. We loved that our play was only a half a block from the hotel. The Mariott was okay, we were right in Tmes Square whch is crazy but so fun at the same time! Shops open till late and fun places to go at night, I personally think they Mariott was a bit of a rip off, I was happy with the price we paid to stay there but then the extra things onto of that at the hotel was where the stung you. We generally prefer the smaller boutique hotels in NYC but stayed here because we were with friends who had booked the Marquis. Our stay was really comfortable and pleasant and made even more enjoyable because of the location. We were in the heart of activity and close to great restaurants, theaters and the subway. As always, the bedding in the Marriott […] was exceptional and our 28th floor room was quiet, but had an outstanding view. Mehr

convenient to everything that is a "must see" in Manhattan! the elevators are a thrill to the little ones!...everyone seemed to bend their backs to be of service!..we have never stayed anywhere else in the city and this was our 3rd visit....unless you are just looking for lavish indulgence such as the Plaza...etc..Times Square is the center of the universe […] and the Marriott Marquis is at it's heart!
