Avenida Palace - Barcelona

Great location very close to Las Ramblas and the old part of the city, plus the buses to and from the airport. Friendly staff, checked us in 4 hours early (at noon vs 4pm) when we arrived. We did not need them much, but the staff spoke English and a variety of other languages. Beds were the only thing lacking. Clean sheets etc, but the bed was hard […] and the pillows were inadaquate. We had a great view from the 9th floor. You have to check in the keys when you leave, but we had no issue with that, at least we knew we wouldn't lose them! We would book again in a heartbeat. great lcoation, great service, great interior design, grat state of maintenance. It is centrally located so a room with a window to the main road will not give you a good night of sleep, particularly in a place like Barceloana, which lights up at night. We therefore took a "quiet room", ie. with a window to the interior court. No great view, but very […] quiet. Only downside is that there is no free WIFI in the room. Instead, it costs 20 Euros per day, which is exorbitant given the 4start status and price of the hotel. At least, they do have free 30mins vouchers for the hotel lobby, so one is not entirely disconnected. Mehr

Veery convenient to transportation and activities; staff was friendly and helpful. Friends stayed in The Beatles Suites!!! :) Great time!

The hotel was in a great location and the rooms were clean. The only problem was the rude people at the front desk. I asked if they had a concierge and they said they were all able to help. I asked one of the men behind the desk some advice on some sights to see and his response to me was to get out of the way because someone behind me wanted to check […] in. There were many great places to eat and when we asked for a recommendation they all recommended the same place. When we went by the place it was always empty. With all the restaurants in the neighborhood, they only wanted us to go to one. One of the front desk offered me a free glass of champagne if we went there for dinner. It felt as though they were being compensated for sending people there. When I asked them about other places that were recommended they always told us to go to that restaurant. Every single person at the desk only recommeded that one place to eat. I found this very annoying. Mehr

This is an excellent hotel, old world charm and very friendly service. Our request for a high floor was honored, and the city views were fantastic. The location is superb, and the price paid represent very good value.

Upon arrival, @8am, I was greeted by a very nice desk crew (male and female) and the doorman secured my bags in a locked room until my room was ready (@3pm). I went on a long walk of a fabulous area surrounding the hotel and then to the Sagrada Familia. A great walk!! Upon my return, went to my room (9th floor) which was rather warm with the sun baking […] on the window side of the room. As I opened the curtain, I found the a great view of the neighboring building's roof and air conditioners...and that's all I could see. I sat on my bed which felt like a bunch of springs with a little bit of padding. Glad I was only staying for a day. In the mean time, I called down to the front desk and spoke with a not so friendly female worker about getting internet. I learned that the only free internet was in the lobby. When I went down to the lobby, that same female was stunning miserable to people ahead of me and certainly not pleasant to me...despite my friendliness and smile. If there was anything that would make me not come back it would have been her. Overall...hmmmm....I would try the hotel again but certainly not in the room provided to me. This is a great location for visiting Barcelona on leisure. We were visiting on business and found that the hotel staff were unaware of a lot of the details regarding the big trade show taking place in Barcelona despite their hotel being responsible for putting on shuttle buses. When we asked for assistance on a number of matters to do with the local […] area and transportation, it was very difficult to get an answer. We also got caught up in flight chaos following the weather conditions in the UK and then the air traffic control strike in Spain, but the hotel didn't seem to be proactive in conveying information about the situation despite a lot of guests milling around to find out what was happening. We were however lucky enough to secure our room for a few hours more thanks to one of the guys on the front desk. Other than that, the hotel was very clean and reasonable for the location. Mehr

The Avenida Palace was a beautiful hotel. The location was superb, everything was easily within walking distance including all the great restaurants, and the train station was directly in front of the hotel. Now for the negatives. We were at the hotel the last week of April, 2010. Unknown to us, there was no air conditioning. In Barcelona hotels, it […] is an either /or situation, you get heat or air, but not both. The air is not turned on until the first of May ,so we had to leave our windows open. It was cool enough, but very noisy because it's in such a busy area. The staff were helpful and spoke good English, although a bit curt. The key to the room is attached to a big metal something, so it was necessary to turn the key in to the front desk everytime you left the hotel. Beware of the internet cafe downstairs. The rate quoted to me was not correct. I put a credit card in and it initially put a hold on the card for 65.00 when I only used the computer for 15 minutes. After all was said and done, I paid 20 dollars, but that was much more that quoted. For location, it was great and we would probably stay there again. Mehr

The hotel is in excellent location, but the hotel for it,s prices could do with improvements. The room were very basic and beds so uncomfortable , i also found the carpet very dirty in my room. The staff was very friendly and were always prompt with enquiries. They have free wifi in lobby , but if you don,t have laptop ,then you pay $7.50 for 15 min […] in lobby , so very expensive indeed, what really bugged me about the hotel was the fact you must drop your key every time you leave hotel and then request upon return. the bathroom was very small also and very dated. Watch out for some room views, as my room was facing a building with people working in offices feet away from my window ,looking straight in at me. I would not recommend this hotel am afraid. Mehr

The hotel is in good condition and all the staff was friendly. It is located in a great area, close to most of the touristic places and right in front of a subway station. The hotel gives you free internet access in the lobby but you have to bring your own laptop. They give you a password which is valid for 30 min but if you need more time, they will […] give you another one. The food in the hotel is expensive and I personally didn't like it that much. There are very good restaurants and tapas bars around the area so I would recommend to try those instead of the hotel restaurant. Mehr

Spent a total of 3 nights at Avenida. One pre-cruise and 2 post cruise. Can't beat the location. Central to everything. Walk to most major attractions. The first night they put us in a comfortable room, but it had no view. The other two nights we had much nicer rooms with a good view. The neighborhood is excellent. Two blocks to Las Ramblas, Placa Catalonia, […] Gaudi Museum, and great restaurants and shopping around the corner. Staff were acceptable but not the friendliest. This hotel has all the conviebnences lyou need to stay in Central Barcelona. The rooms arwe traditional, very roomy and very nice. Excellent staff, willing to help in any way they can. I will stay there again.

Hotel is situated in a perfect location. Hotel staff very friendly. Nice lobby and elevators. Room and bath were excellent. Noisy street with windows open, but quiet when closed.

Only a few blocks from La Rambla. Close enough to get to the action, far enough to be away from the hussle & bustle. The staff were exemplary. The hotel and most specifically the room was impeccably clean which is first and foremost for me. I would recommend this for a more mature traveler who appreciates old worlm elegance and charm. The price reflects […] that so if you're looking for something cheap, this is not for you. Personally, I thought it was worth every penny. (Euro) Mehr

A typical European hotel room. Staff wasn't too friendly but the location was ideal and the room was clean. There was no free internet access which we were hoping for.

This hotel is conveniently and centrally located. It is a 15 minute walk to the old city and La Rambla and even a shorter walk to several of the buildings designed by Gaudi. It is also near many bus lines and metro lines. The staff is very helpful and courteous. The room decor and bathroom exceeded our expectations: both were very large, with ample […] closet space in the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable. Next morning after our arrival we were asked to move to another suite. Our move was arranged in very prompt manner, to our delight new room was even better than original, with great view and terrace and we were offered free breakfast for the inconvenience

The location of this hotel is so convinient it's not even funny. First your in the best area or Barcelona. For shoping and restaurants. If you want to go to the Rambla it's 2.5 bloclks away. The rambla is a VERY busy and noisy street with many hotels both good and not so good but with plenty of fun to be had. This hotel gives you the option of walking […] to the crazy Rambla area and then walk back to the nice gortgeous quit hotel. We had a room on the street side and didnot hear a noise due to the fact the windows have been noise proofed. Transportation via Metro, Buses and taxis are available as you walk out the door. I recomend you by a pass to ride the buses and metro which take you in absolute confort to ALL mayor attractions that Barcelona offers. If you just hop on the bus or metro (subway) not having purchased the pass it will cost you bouble so just purchase it. On your way out of the hotel in the morning you ask the front desk which bus or metro you take to where ever your going and they will tell you. They never steared us wrong. OUTSTANDING staff. We could not be happier and are palnning another trip to Barcelona and will be staying here again. All public transportation is clean graffiti free and air conditioned and very safe. No need to rnt a car unless you want to leave the city. We went to Valencia and we took the train, it was perfect and yes they all run on time and when I say on time I mean on time. Food in Barcelona is the best I've had anywhere in the world all fresh and the presentation ou of this world. If I had to say something negative it would be the carpets in the rooms are due for a change, that's not to say the rooms smelt because they didn't so it was NOT an issue watsoever. Mehr

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for several nights after reading other comments posted by previous people and we were very satisfied with this hotel. The location was very easy to get to from the airport and convenient. The staff was very helpful in every way. The room was quiet at night and though the bed was firmer than what we are used to, […] it was good (firm beds are a standard in Europe.) We did not eat at the restaurant (too many other good places to eat nearby!) We would stay here again. Mehr

This hotel is situated in a great location with bars and shops just a few minutes walk. It is with easy access to the bus terminal on the plaza from the airport so travel to and from the airport could not be easier. Notwithstanding the fact that found Barcelona to be expensive had great time and would recommend this hotel.

Mooi Hotel midden in Barcelona. Pefecte aansluitingen op metro en trein. Alles binnen loop afstand. Vriendelijke staf die graag helpt.

歴史あるホテルだけに、近代的なホテルの清潔感やアメニティーを求めるものではないが、毎日の部屋の掃除が全体に雑なように感ぜられ、2人が宿泊したにもかかわらづ、洗面所のシャンプー・石鹸類や、栓抜きやコップ等が不備で、室内の金庫がうまく利用できないことを告げても、それらへの対応には不満が残った。

Estoy muy satisfecho de mi estancia en el hotel. Su situación es inmejorable, al lado del Paseo de Gracia y de la Plaza de Cataluña. La habitación espaciosa y cómoda, bien insonorizada con doble ventanal. El desayuno correcto. Como defectos, debería actualizar un poco los baños, no cobrar 22€ al día por tener Wifi en la habitación y tener una sala fitness. […] Aún así me ha gustado y si volviera a Barcelona procuraría alojarme en él. ホテルは地下鉄駅前に立地し、また、主要な観光名所が徒歩圏内です。レストランも多くあり、困ることはありません。建物は歴史ある建物ですが、よく整備されており、綺麗です。部屋は大きくありませんが、観光がメインならホテル滞在時間も少ないため、問題ありません。プラグの貸出もあり。アーリーチェックインにも臨機応変に対応。値段の割に贅沢感を味わえ、おすすめです。

Trato muy amable del personal, que nos ayudaron a solucionar un problema con el bono, evitando problemas. Localización perfecta, pegado al centro neurálgico turístico, con total accesibilidad, y con total tranquilidad.

En Avenida Palace el servicio SIEMPRE es excelente; comodidad, limpieza y atenciones. Muy buena ubicacion. Viajo desde Puerto Rico y esta es mi tercera estadia en menos de 12 meses. Para mi es mi casa en Barcelona. Si fue bueno para Los Beatles, tiene que ser bueno para el resto de los mortales.

Hotel très bien placé, très joli et très agréable. Très bon accueil (il faut quand même avoir des notions d'espagnol ou parler l'anglais), les réceptionnistes sont très sympas et serviables. Petit conseil pour les repas > aller à l'extérieur: les cafés tapas à proximité sont très bien et très abordables (spécialement pour le petit-déjeuner)
