In my opinion, this wasn't a 4-star hotel. There was no restaurant. We had to venture out to find breakfast, which is the meal you want to be easily accessible. We stayed in a Latham Hotel in Beijing that was wonderful, so that is the reason I booked this reservation. I was disappointed, because this did not meet the quality that we enjoyed in Beij […] ing. The only info that would have been nice to know - was that the hotel restaurant was under renovation - until May.

Greeted kindly, valet parking right in front of hotel (remember, that's not included in your rates - on street parking is impossible to find in this area and lots not very accessible). Front desk clerk surprisingly uninformed about restaurants in the area. Great location, one block walk to Rittenhouse Square and surrounding area. Room and bathroom very […] clean, bed extremely comfortable. Restaurant in hotel is still in renovations, only coffee available for breakfast. Did not use the workout room. Overall, would probably check out other hotels in the area on our next visit to Philly, but wouldn't rule out another stay. Mehr

Had a great stay at the Latham. Beautiful place, very clean....

We booked the Latham knowing that it was still under renovation. The lobby will be expanded and there will be a restaurant once the renovations are completed. That being said, the hotel is in an excellent location near Rittenhouse Square. The rooms have been recently renovated. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. The bed was super […] comfortable. The room and the bathroom were immaculate. My husband & I were in Philadelphia for the van Gogh exhibit. The weather was beautiful, and it was a nice 20-25 minute walk to the museum. There are lots of dining options within a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel and lots of great shopping. The room was very nice. Sometimes I couldn't get the room warm enough for me. My real concern was no restaurant, I understand it was being renovated. It is an excellent location.

I enjoyed the Hotel and room but I had a room facing the street and could not sleep the first night due to all the horn honking. the Hotel should put in some better sound proofing in the windows and the City of Philadelphia should enforce a "no unnessessary honking" law. they could raise a lot of revenue. I bought some ear plugs the next day. the staff […] was attentive and I changed my room after the first night. they should give you a complimentary set of ear plugs with the room. Mehr

Rooms are small since it is an older building but they are absolutely top of the line in decor and bedding. I would recommend this hotel highly.

To be fair the hotel is undergoing a renovation. My negative comments however refer to the staff response for deficiencies in service during this time period. As an example the wifi did not work in my room ...this is a good piece of information for hotel staff, and they did not use it. The radio was not properly "grounded" and was noisy, and again the […] staff did not respond to fixing it so the next tenant will experience the same thing! Mehr

I had to go to the lobby to get coffee and it was nasty. I"m not asking for an espresso machine, just Starbucks. Decor in the room was very nice. nice magnified makeup mirror. Great bed. Beware that the lounge and restaurant are closed right now (April 2012), but should be finished soon. Safe in the closet. Nice. Clock radio actually worked and good […] workspace and desk to use. This was my third time at the Latham Hotel, and the upgrades they have made to the hotel, including the rooms, are fantastic. It's very convenient and the personnel were helpful and friendly. My stay was not perfect however, as there was no hot water the first morning of my stay, making a shower impossible. They did make an adjustment by the time I […] returned the second night, but the next morning the water was still not really hot. Would have appreciated an offer of a rate adjustment, but it was not offered by hotel staff. Put a damper on an otherwise great stay. Would definitely stay there again (hoping for hot water) and look forward to the new wine bar and restaurant they are building now. Mehr

Room was beautiful. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. All was very clean. Unfortunately, there was some noise in the hallways at night - nothing crazy, but you could hear something. Hotel is renovating, but it didn't really affect our stay. Great location, but mostly only chain restaurants nearby.

The hotel was under construction when we were visiting. The staff was friendly and the rooms were nice. The water pressure in the shower was lacking. There were four of us staying in the room and we were happy to find that there were plenty of towels for all of us. Location was great, close to everything.

The room was pleasant although a bit small for the price, with only a few amenities and no coffeemaker in the room. Having complimentary bottled water was nice since no other room service was available during the remodeling. Staff did not go out of their way to be friendly, just sort of impersonal.

The Latham is located at 17th and Walnut, right in the heart of Center City, and the location is just ideal. Our room was nicely and recently updated when we stayed there this March 2012. Some parts of the hotel were still undergoing construction. My only criticism is that the doorman/bell hop was generally non-existent. He stood chatting to the front […] desk clerk completely oblivious to us as we entered and exited the hotel, opening the door ourselves. When the doorman was not speaking with the front desk clerk, he was not around. This is true for the two doorman who were on duty during our stay. It is not a big deal, but that kind of service and attention to detail does stand out in one's mind and is the mark of real luxury hotel. I would definitely stay here again. If the prices continue to be reasonable after the renovations are complete, I am sure it will be a great hotel to return to. Mehr

The workers started early in the morning working with their power equipment, so it made it impossible to sleep. I had to leave our car parked out front in a no parking zone for the valet who was no where to be found. The front desk assured me it would be OK. The doorman in the morning was far from friendly, one might say he got up on the wrong side […] of the bed. I will chock our experience up to the construction. Although I was disappointed that the beautiful entryway I'd seen online was under construction, I was most definitely not disappointed with our room. It was everything I'd hoped for and more. I understand that they are remodeling but there is no reason that there should be loud drilling and machinery at 6 AM. It sounded as though the drill were in my room, but it was happening on the floor below me. I had important meeting all day and being woken up that early both mornings made me extremely groggy during meetings. When I mentioned this […] to the staff they only gave a half-hearted apology. The Latham has recently been refurbished and they've done a great job. The workout room is very well equipped. The restaurants and lobby weren't finished yet so I cannot comment. The rooms are large for center city, and quite comfortable. However, the biggest draw is the location - you just cannot beat it for proximity to shopping, dining, entertainment […] and Rittenhiuse Square. A good value and the staff was friendly, particularly the bell staff. Mehr

We enjoyed our mini-family reunion at the Latham last weekend. Hotel was lovely, location was perfect for all ages. Lots of places were within an easy walk. Very good value for the price! My only complaints are minor: there was construction dust on the table holding the TV and ice bucket, and as of yet there is no restaurant. I travel often and stay in many hotels. The Latham was very exquisite. Great staff. Great location. Reasonable price. Overall highly recommended.

We were exceptionally pleased with the "redone" Latham. Everything about it is well done and once again it is a most relaxing place to be. One of the greatest things is that Joe, the doorman, is back . We will return.

My husband and I booked this hotel for a quick get away which was perfect. The location is within walking distance to everything. The hotel staff was professional and had a pleasant casual feel. This property seemed to be renovated and was lovely. Room was a bit small but overall we were very pleased and plan to stay for our next visit to the area. […] Hotel valet parking was a bit pricey although we choice a public parking garage one block away for for less with in/out access with payment upon arrival. The hotel was fantastic and an incredible value as well. They were doing some renovations, but we barely noticed.

Nice sized room, hotel in good location, but the kitchen was closed for refurbishment so nothing available to eat within the hotel, including room service ! Hot water ran out on a daily basis ! The hotel will be good once it is finished ....

Very luxurious Hotel but no amenities at all during construction. Hotel is in great location bug was difficult finding reasonable parking was very difficult. I would go back after construction up see if it has got better.
