Ein Hotelklassiker in Super Lage mit Cable Car direkt am Hotel. Interior und Ausstattung passen zur alt-ehrwürdigen Luxusherberge. Nichts für Menschen, die modernes Wohnen bevorzugen. Das Personal erscheint überwiegend professionell und hilfsbereit allerdings auch distanziert, wenn nicht ein wenig arrogant. Ein Lächeln konnten wir hier nicht so leicht […] rauskitzeln. Ist uns bei den erheblichen Extrakosten wie für die Nutzung des Gyms oder fürs Parken des Autos dann auch irgendwann vergangen. Mehr

Zimmer groß aber abgewohnt, Fenster zum öffnen (selten in USA) aber nur 1m Sicht auf ne olle Mauer. Parkplatz im Hotel kostet 57 USD/Tag, Hilfe!!!

Herrschaftliches Hotel, in dem man sich auch mit Turnschuhen nicht unwohl fühlt.

Insgesamt eine sehr schöne Adresse mit einem Hauch von Nostalgie

The Fairmont is a classic San Francisco hotel. Service is impeccable, the rooms are not huge but more than adequate, food service is excellent and , of course, the Tonga Room.........just a fun place where the bartenders know how to pour a drink. One caveat.....don't get a room near the ever moving and somewhat noisy elevators.

This is a beautiful hotel that is located on the top of Nob Hill in SF. The views from my 18th floor window overlooking the city were spectacular. The sunset was gorgeous as the lights of the city came up over the rolling hills of San Francisco and truly took my breath away. The room was spacious with 2 VERY comfortable queen beds and spacious bathroom. […] All amenities were more that satisfactory. I have 2 negatives on the hotel. 1) A hotel of this caliber and price range should be offering free wifi and not charge $14/ day. 2) the shuttle service to the airport that is offered is just a general run of the mill guy with a rickety van with seat belts that did not work. We made stops at about 6 other hotels before the drive to the airport. I definitely was wishing that I took a cab instead of the shuttle. Overall, I had a marvelous stay at this beautiful hotel Mehr

A grand classic hotel at the top of Nob Hill. It is a pinnacle in grandeur and a centrally located hotel that just gets better with age. Experience the history and opulence of an era gone by in one of the world's most beautiful cities.

I live in Palo Alto and occasionally stay in San Francisco for a night with my wife. The Fairmont is my hotel of choice, just a great historic elegant hotel that understand the concept of service.

We had a wonderful stay at the Fairmont. We were upgraded to a larger room with a king size bed and a phenomenal view of much of the city and the surrounding bay. The room was one of the largest hotel rooms I can ever remember staying in. From the hotel, it is just a few blocks to walk to Chinatown for dinner, and the walk is entirely downhill. There […] is a very nice and well-equipped health club as well as a convenient coffee shop on the lower level of the hotel. The hotel itself is lovely, and my room was beautiful. However, service was not up to par. The bartender at the hotel bar was rude: he told me I'd be more comfortable at a table rather than at the bar, and I'd probably have to wait 45 minutes before he could serve me. Note that there were only 3 other patrons present. He then had the nerve to present […] me with my bill halfway through my meal, a behavior which is only acceptable at an airport bar. When I complained to the concierge, he told me he would have the manager of the restaurant call me. That never happened. On another occasion, the staff forgot to restock the mini-bar, and when I called to alert them, they promised that they would send up the missing items immediately. Needless to say, that never happened. I would go back to stay, as the location is great and the hotel itself is a historical gem, but would definitely lower my expectations in terms of decent service. Mehr

The room was incredibly small and the heating was broken -- room was insufferable. Despite numerous calls to compain, no accomodations were made. I would not recommend this hotel and was very disappointed in staff and the stay overall!

Staying at the Fairmont is always enjoyable. It is a grand hotel and the neighborhood is really beautiful on a clear day. Coupled with the beautiful bells of Grace Cathedral, it is magical. I must say that of all the times we have visited the Fairmont, this is the first time that we did not stay in a street side king room, due to a promotional rate […] offered. The SF Fairmont has the look of an old-world 5-star hotel but sadly several small little details keep it from being a 5-star hotel. First off: when I asked the concierge where I could mail some letters I was told there was a mailbox just outside and around the corner from the entrance. Not a huge deal, I can certainly walk & the weather was cold but […] clear but really? There is no collection box inside, even for their own mail? Second: We had reservations for The Tonga Room for dinner and we arrived a few minutes early to find a 15-20 person line in front of us, some with reservations as well, some without & yet the answer from the hostess was just stay in line & we'll get to you in turn. The last complaint was probably equally our fault, we thought it would be easy to get reservations for their Holiday Tea as a hotel guest but that fact seemed to not matter one bit to the maitre d who bluntly told us the next available table would be after Christmas, 10 days from our visit. On the plus side, the valet parking albeit expensive, was helpful to a fault, even alerting us that our destination (The Disney Family Museum) may not be the best choice for our 2yr old of we were looking for Mickey Mouse, et al. Also: keep in mind this place is BIG so be prepared to walk to your room, the lobby, dinner, etc. Mehr

Very nice hotel. Was a little noisy. People talking in hallway woke me up. After that all night I heard the TV going in the room next to ours. Tonga Room is a fun little spot for a drink.

The Fairmont is a spectacular hotel in every way! The building is gorgeous and the staff is extremely well mannered. I reluctantly paid $30 for a breakfast and could not believe it was actually worth it!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. we particularly appreciated the courtiesness of the staff.

The hotel is very charming and the staff was very friendly and helpful. You couldn't have asked for a better location. Right in the middle of everything within walking distance. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We have stayed at several hotels in the Union Square area. This is by far the best. It has a beautiful lobby where you can people watch and unwind after a day of sightseeing. We had a view of the Transamerica Building and city lights too. I really felt like i was somewhere special!

The Fairmont San Francisco is a wonderful old hotel in SF which has been well maintained and is in a great location. The rooms are quite nice, although not luxurious. The hotel is in walking distance of major attractions such as Union Square, Chinatown, and Fisherman's Wharf. The surrounding neighborhood is quite safe.

We spent two nights at the Fairmont for my wife's birthday. The Hotel was comfortable and the staff warm and friendly. We had two of the nicest, warmest, sunniest days you could have in San Francisco in January! The only drawback is the parking which is expensive, especially when you don't need a car in the City. I decided to go all out for this year’s New Years Eve. I booked a suite at the Fairmont Hotel in SF and got reservations for their New Years Eve Party. It was a stay I will never forget. The room was fabulous, every detail was covered. The bed was very comfortable, and there were two bathrooms. The restaurants served good food and the Tonga Room was […] a blast - they had the Best Band I'd heard in a very long time. They played all kinds of danceable music. Then there was the New Years Eve Party - WOW - doesn't begin to describe it. The evening started off in the Fountain Room with Champagne & hors d'oeuvres. Then we were escorted to the Crown Room on the 24th Floor for dinner and dancing until 1AM. The dinner consisted of a Seven course, wine pared, meal that lasted the entire evening. The food was phenomenal (except for the rolls – they were hard and not SF sourdough, a huge let down.). The view of the City, Golden Gate Bridge, Bay, Yerba Buena Island and the ultimate fireworks show from around the Bay Area was to die for. The Band at this party topped the Band from the Tonga Room and that is saying a lot. We danced all night with intercessions of eating and drinking. This was a stay to remember and a night to never forget. WOW Mehr

The Fairmont is a quality hotel and is located perfectly for using the cable cars to see the city. The Nob Hill location is a quiet and respectable neighbourhood away from the hustle of Union Square but in easy reach as the hotel is one block from the crossroads of the 2 cable car lines making Fishermans Wharf, the Ferry Building and Union Sq a short […] trip away. If you can, pay more for a signature room with a city view. At night if you prefer not to go into town you have Tonga Rooms on hand and The Top of The Mark over the road - perfect! Mehr

The Fairmont lived up to our expectations as a grand old San Francisco experience and a special night out. The lobby and bars were beautiful including the Christmas decorations. The room was clean and pleasant and we enjoyed fabulous views of the city day and night. The low point was the service in the lounges (first afternoon tea and later cocktails […] ) which was slow and inattentive. Overall a good stay. Mehr

$17 pot of coffee delivered through room service was bitter and overall mediocre. Party in next room was really irritating and it took a long time for noise to go down to irritating only. I could feel the pounding through the surface of the sofa.

Great location but the front desk talked us into a room with a "view". It wasnt much of a view and there was a loud utility vehicle washing windows outside the room for two hours starting at 07:30 in the morning. That wasn't pleasant. If you are planning to wash the windows, dont "upgrade" people to the window washee room please..

Even at a great rate, this hotel was not worth the price. Service failures at every turn. Truly a beautiful hotel, but incapable of providing 5-star service. Just one example - a 20 minute wait (in a restaurant that was 1/2 full) for a cold buffet that cost close to $90 for two after adding tip and the 15% "breakfast surcharge." For the Christmas season, the hotel is a great place to stay. They have a magnificent ginger bread house built in the entry area and finished by the hotel chefs with home made frosting and graham crackers. Amazing, especially for the kids!!!

Could hear everyone talking in the hallway as they were returning to their hotel rooms throughout the night. Wish the rooms were a little more soundproof for what we're paying. Called the front desk but they said there was nothing they could do. On a positive, Christmas music was already playing when i first entered the hotel room.

Beautiful interior architecture, excellent customer service. The hotel was beyond expectations and it's highly recommended. Would recommend you stay at this hotel if you're looking for a great hotel.

Fairmont is a fine hotel with great history, but now that I stayed there twice, I don't think I will stay there for any more of my business trips to SF. It's a minor thing for many people, but having a coffee maker in the room so that I can make my own tea and not call room service every time I want a cup of tea is really important to me. It is has less luxurious lobby, but the rooms are very identical, except for Intercontinental has coffee makers in the rooms. The hotel is locted on Nob Hill one of the most inaccesible spots in SF. It is downhill all the way to anywhere. The hotel itself is good bordering on excellent and so it so be for the price. Food is expensive but quality is superb. Location and price will deter me from staying again. This hotel is a little frayed around the edges but it has everything you want in a hotel - cleanliness, soft towels, good restaurant, quiet and ample sized rooms. Our room even had a walk in closet!
