Das Hotel entspricht den ortstypischen Standards, wobei es nicht möglich war ein Fenster zu öffnen. In ähnlichen Hotel des Stadt war dies möglich und hat das Raumklima deutlich verbessert. Zumal die Klimaanlage mit stark riechendem Desinfiziermittel und ihrer Geräuschkullisse nicht gerade positiv wahrgenommen wird. Lage des Hotels direkt an der Cable Car Linie und market Street,5 min zum Union Square. Hotel sauber,zimmer war sehr klein.

Uns war nicht klar, wie zentral dieses Hotel liegt. Es liegt direkt an der größten Einkaufsstraße der Stadt, der Market Street und am Wendekreis der Cable Car. Wir kamen mit dem Auto und hatten keine Chance den Wagen zu parken. Der angrenzende Parkplatz ist klein, gehört aber nicht zum Hotel und ist ständig belegt. Der Wächter lies uns aber ausladen […] und einchecken, danach fuhren wir den Wagen weg. Das Hotel hat freundliches Personal, es gibt morgens Kaffee und tagsüber Tee in der Lobby, Frühstück wird nicht angeboten, das gibt es aber recht günstig nebenan im Tad's Steakhouse. Das Zimmer war klein, das wussten wir aber aus früheren Bewertungen, deshalb gab es keine Enttäuschung. Das Zimmer war sauber, wir konnten beim täglichen Zimmerservice selbst entscheiden, ob die Laken gewechselt werden sollen. Handtücher gab es immer neu, das fanden wir aber nicht immer notwendig und haben es bei der Hotelbefragung vor Ort auch angemerkt. Die Wände im Zimmer waren mit dunklem bordeaux recht dunkel gestrichen, aber das ist ja Geschmackssache. Eine Klimaanlage gab es nicht, aber die braucht man in SF wegen des Pazifikwindes auch eher selten. Der Blick aus dem Fenster ging direkt auf den erwähnten Parkplatz, das wollten wir aber so, da der Blick auf die Powell Street zwar schöner aber auch definitiv viel lauter gewesen wäre. An einem Abend funktionierte der Süßigkeitenautomat im Treppenhaus nicht, aber darum wurde sich am nächsten Morgen sofort gekümmert. Geniale Lage,direkt im Leben von SFO. Shoppen,Restaurants,Nightlife und sightseeing unmittelbar vor der Hoteltür. Die Zimmer zur Powellstreet sind sehr laut,wer nachts schlafen möchte sollte eines zum Innenhof reservieren.

Sauber, Top Lage, aber fürs Parken werden pro Tag 30 Dollars berechnet!!

Die kleinen frisch renovierten Zimmer sind mit allem notwendigen ausgestattet. Wir hatten ein Zimmer in den unattraktiven Hinterhof, dafür war das Zimmer sehr leise! Dies ist bei so zentraler Lage erstaundlich. Frühstück ist nicht inbegriffen und das parken kostet US$ 30.-- oder 36 je nach grösse des Autos.

Location was great. Enjoyed the wine tasting and entertainment. Hotel staff very helpful. In walking distance of bus for Fisherman Wharf.

I think this hotel is close to everything and in the heart of union square. Surrounded by several good bars and restaurants.

the pictures are not at all what the room we stayed in looked like. kind of disappointing.

The hotel is excelent, perfect location as this is only 2 short blocks to Union Square Plaza. The only negative comments is that room didnt have a window, we asked and the only room with window are the King Executive and up. However this detail, I recommed to stay at this hotel if you can survive with no windows.

Love the location. Easy access to anywhere you want to go

The hotel is pretty nice actually, but the rooms are quite small - at least the room I stayed in. Not unexpected for that location. I'd say it's fine for 1 person, ok for 2, but more than that would be pretty crowded. I'm from Michigan and used to much more spacious hotel rooms. Fairly cheap I thought considering it's in Union Square. I'd recommend […] it for a business trip, but if you're there on vacation or having a party, I'd definitely look for something bigger. For a mid-range hotel this place is fine... one of those 'we painted and added some trendy lighting and now we're a boutique hotel' kind of places. Note that although there is nothing on their website about pets other than how pet-friendly they are, when you arrive with your four-legged friend you will be hit with a $35 surcharge (or possibly more, […] our dog was only 20lbs so it's possible that bigger dogs are charged more). I really enjoyed staying at Hotel Union Square. The staff was great, the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was so close to the BART station. Plus, the 5-6pm wine hour was a welcome delight. I couldn't have asked for a better hotel for my trip!

The hotel itself is very well run, the staff is friendly and the rooms, though not the most modern, are a very good value for the money. The location is mostly excellent - a minute walk from the Powell St. BART station and a minute walk from Market St. The non-excellent aspect of the location is the neighborhood immediately adjacent to and to the other […] side of the hotel from Market St. This is not the most desireable area of San Francisco. I was approached by pan-handlers and was a bit nervous about being accosted on my morning run. Mehr

Tiny rooms, quite old, rooms look absolutely nothing like they do on the website. Fantastic location though & friendly concierge. Expected more for the price.

Cheap hotel with good location. But the area has other hotels within the same pricerange far superior.

--Lobby and hotel hallways very cool-looking-- Not a sterile corporate hotel at all. --Nightly wine reception- a nice touch, although not serving said wine in plastic cups would be a nicer touch --Some problems with coordination/ communication between desk clerk shifts, leading to confusion and things not always followed through --Bed was comfortable, […] shower was nice. --Room was small, very dark, w/ poor lighting --Room walls were filthy-- scuffed and dirty on every wall. I expect some of this w/ busy hotels but it was striking how dirty the walls in this room looked. Window was also REALLY grimy. --Bathroom door looked like it had been kicked/forced open at some point and was cracked/broken around the handle area--To the extent it would not open unless you managed to turn the handle just the right way. Told staff about it, "oh, we'll get maintenance on that right away,"-- 3 days later, not fixed. --Downtown location by the cable car turnaround was exceptionally noisy. I know SF is a noisy place, but based on my stays @ other hotels I'd say this is a particularly noisy spot. Could not sleep at all on weekend nights & there was no way to drown it out. --I am not overly picky, but I would not stay here again. Mehr

The hotel is from 1908, but the coolness factor is awesome!!! Had a great room with a great staff!!! VERY clean and everyone was VERY helpful and happy. Positively staying there again!!!

For the area, the price of the hotel is reasonable. However, in retrospect, I think it would have been worth spending a little more and getting a nicer room. The rooms are TINY...I'm 5 ft, my husband isn't very big either, and we had zero space to move in either the room or the bathroom in the "executive queen" room. The radiator didn't work at all, […] but the front desk did give us a space heater. The room made us feel claustrophobic - even the view looked out at the fire escape and the brick wall of the neighboring building. The front desk staff were nice and courteous, and kindly faxed some things for me without charging me. All in all, it was clean and cheap, but the room size definitely was a minus. Mehr

Hotel was well worth the price for the location & condition. I travel often & this hotel is one I am already planning to stay at again. Only downside, some of the hotel rooms faces Powell st. w/ the trolleys- the noise didn't bother me b/c I live next to train tracks. It might however bother others-so if it does ask for a room not facing powell. If […] your on a budget eating can be challenging- good breakfast place Denny's - for a good lunch or dinner place check out the little Italy area- for inexpensive places to eat go to mall & check out the food court . The Staff we wonderful. Helpful and always smiling!! This hotel is well maintain considering its from 1913 perfect location for shopping and being in the heart of it. My daughter and I loved it.

Being able to walk out of our hotel and be in the heart of San Francisco was most enjoyable to our stay. Not only were we right on the cable route, It was convenient to the best restaurants, rental cars, and the "F" line which took us right to Fisherman's Wharf! We had internet access in a comfortable location and were able to print out our boarding […] passes for our return flight home. The concierge called the shuttle service which took us back to the airport at a very good price. We absolutely would stay here again! Mehr

Chose to stay here while in sf overnight for work. A great central location to jump on bart or walk to union square. I loved the decor and updates to the 100+ year old hotel. The hallways were on the verge of psychedellic but it added to the charm! Parking was very easy an par for the course price-wise. I read the previous reviews and hesitated for a while before booking. The end of the story is that I am very happy with my choice of staying here. I stayed in the back side. The space is ample. There is a "roof window" which is a plus (whether it was made intentionally or unintentionally).

I came with my Boyfriend for Valentine's Day. Hotel Union Square was comfortable and clean. And we were close to everything. I would recommend anyone to stay here. The rooms are small, but if you are going w/ just two people its just right,

From checking in to the concierge----they were rude and seemed annoyed to work there. Room was tiny and awkward.

The price was right for the neighborhood, the bed low but comfortable, fixtures clean, parking a deal and easy. My room badly needed a paint job, tile grouting. I'd stay again, but not before other properties at a similar value. Personnel were all friendly and helpful.

Hotel staff were excellent, conveniently located. However, NO BATH PLUG! BATH LEAKED! DRIPPING NOISES AT NIGHT. However, staff and housemaid were exceptional.

The location was right in the heart of San Fran. Close to transportation lines and conveniently located within minutes of shopping and groceries. Room was smaller than expected but clean. A pleasant stay altogether.

The mattress was super thin and uncomfortable and the room is so small they taped wads of padding to the corners which I tripped over incessantly. The noise levels were high but tolerable. They didn't keep me up but I'm a heavy sleeper. Light sleepers need to bring ear plugs. All in all I'd say go around the corner and stay at The Mosser.

Perfect location! Staff was great, especially Jewel the concierge. Unhappy about no storage in room, and small size of room.
