close to work area, nice area, lots of good eating, and it wasn't a bad stay...

We were promised a up-grade and yet nothing was delievered. The hotel is very run down and lacks any charm. Photos must of been enhanced. They have no aircondition and the balconies are seperated by a single rail between rooms. Keep looking. We would of left if we could of gotten a refund.

The registration clerk was not real friendly to me but was to my friend who booked directly rather than through hotels.com

My fiancée and I and a group of friends stayed here for St. paddys day weekend. If youre looking for a classy romantic getaway this is not the spot. That is why this got the job done. It's an affordable hotel that has decent rooms for a weekend of debauchery. The free continental breakfast shouldn't really be looking forward to as it's coffee, a couple […] of boxes of old cereal, and certain breads (muffins, bagels, bread to toast) no eggs, bacon, sausage here! Also since we had friends staying in the same hotel as us rooms do vary not just in bed size. Queen actually equals full size. We had a microwave and refrigerator in ours but in there's they didn't have either. They had a balcony and we did not. And other minor differences. So if you're looking for a cheap place to sleep here is the spot. If you want to impress someone...well you'll have to get them drunk first so they won't realize where they are lol. Mehr

I recently came to Sacramento to look at bridal gowns for a friend. The Clarion was centrally located in walking distance to most of the shops we wanted to explore. The price was inexpensive, exactly what we wanted for one night. Front desk was not super friendly but did their job. Our hotel room was pretty gross and not clean. My bed dipped in so bad […] i had to sleep on one side and couldn't' risk rolling at all. At 2:30 in the morning a drunk girl was slamming her shoes on our door and wouldn't stop. We called front desk and they said they had multiple complaints about her...but it took them a good 8 min or so to get up to the not high 2nd floor. If you need a place to stay for a quick trip its okay...but I'm sure you can find better! Mehr

Might as well be a travelodge or motel 6... building was decrepit, rundown, had a slight musty odor and felt like an old age home apartment building that was converted to a hotel. The staff was nice and the wifi was standard, and there was more than enough parking due to the big lot but also not many guests. Midtown Sacramento is a great walking neighborhood for restaurants and coffee shops (yuppified), but the hotel location is on the northern fringe, too many negative economic externalities). The hotel is managing to keep the rooms clean, but the overall plant shows significant deferred maintenance. Door of my room on ground level near lobby showed signs […] of repeated forced entry. The overall condition of the room was the poorest I have had in my extensive travels the past two decades. The hotel is aging and really needs a complete remodel. The staff was friendly. The morning hot breakfast consisted of making bread toast, toasting bagels, limited cold cereals,

This place has been allowed to deteriorate. It really needs some basic maintenance. I would not stay there again.

I entered the hotel, and the deadbolt was broken on the door inside, the light fixture was broken and I had to call the front desk to get repaired. 3 of the electrical outlets were not working and the heater was broken. The outlet for the internet/tv was broken away from the wall and was a safety hazard. I spent two days there and no one came to make […] up the room or clean it after the first night. Location is good but it is not a real nice place. The section I stayed in was in need of repair. The walkway had places that were soft and rotting away. This was on the second floor.

Good location. Walking distance to restrurants, and sites. Very clean but older property.

Luckily I am from Truckee, CA and am ok with a bit of a chill. The room heater did not work all night and by 6 in the morning I looked at the thermostat and up it was 61 degrees in the room.

beds were too old soft and saggy. No tub and wimpy shower door. Priced to high for accomadations. would rather stay next door.

We have stayed at the Clarion a number of times, as it is very nearby our evening's destination, and we are generally happy with it. The front desk staff is especially cordial, and the general facilities are well kept. Our inexpensive room was part of the "motel" wing surrounding the pool, and it had some issues. The wall switch inside the door doesn't […] seem to affect any of the lighting, so we had to go in and find fixtures in the dark. The room was 63 degrees when we arrived. Turning the thermostat up produced a flow of air from the comfort unit, but there was no heat source. In an hour, the circulation raised it to 64 degrees, but it never got higher all night. The sink drain was partially clogged and drained slowly. There was no fridge or microwave, which have become pretty much standard at all levels of hospitality. There were two packets of coffee for the cheap coffeemaker, both decaf. These are relatively minor matters, but good maintenance should prevent all of them. None will cause us to look elsewhere for our visits to downtown Sacramento. Mehr

Great location Maintenance sub standard The bathroom sink had a repaired crack and chip which was very discolored and porous thus a hygiene risk and breech of health regulations. Soapdish in shower had been reglued .It was very lumpy and a haven for germs and discolored for about 3 inches all the way around (the lumps) The power went off in the room […] while we were getting dressed etc on Christmas morning. The breakfast things (e.g. the tea selection was not replenished for 4 days. The same bananas appeared day after day and looked awful Some other clients were without heating for at least 2 days. We checked in at about 6 pm. Got to room and the Television did not work. Called front desk, and within 3 minutes maintenance was there to check it out. I was surprised. Within 5 minutes they decided it was not going to work, so they moved us to a new room very fast. Was a very nice stay. Would definitely stay there again.

Starting to show its age and needs some updating and repair, but location good, staff good, and despite some physical flaws, serves my needs and I choose to stay here over some of the other nearby newer facilities.

Great LOCATION for cheap price. Clean room but need updating. When my normal hotel is booked next door this is a great backup without breaking my wallet!

first of all the chairs around the table in room ,arms were broken ....the sliding door hardley worked and also when i tryed for everyday which was 2 the key never worked i had to go down stairs to find someone....yes ...find someone at front desk.,...to get me a key that worked....breakfast was not a big variety like others ...so i also was dissa pointed […] by that....so over all i was safe but not very happy...but i guess i would stay agin if i had too...becuz the staff when you found them were very nice!!! We chose this hotel based on price and location. It is a short walk to the Capitol, MidTown and Downtown. It is on the cusp of "rougher" neighborhoods and whilst standing in the parking lot, we did get approached once a day by a homeless pandhandler. Our air conditioner was faulty, but the trees kept our room cool thankfully. It was frustrating that […] it was down. I suppose you get what you pay for. This hotel looks like it ws built in 1960 and no one has touched it since. Surprising that the room was in fact clean and did not reak of smoke from the days where it was allowed. Continental breakfast was mediocre, but free coffee and a Dannon yogurt worked out well for us. Overall - free parking, a decent walk to Old Sac, Capitol and MidTown bars and restaurants. Dont plan to spend a lot of time in this hotel, but great over night place. Mehr

Aircondtioner was broken so the room was very warm and a bit uncomfortable no bathtub the t.v. seemed to not have cable or the connection was bad because none of the channels were clear but its wasn't far from old Sacramento which is were we visited before catching a flight to st Louis

The hotel was adequate. Very, very basic cable TV. To be fair, it may have included Showtime and/or HBO. I missed MSNBC anf History Channel. Toasters in Breakfast Nook were defective and only partially worked. I was there two mornings; second morning dry cereal selection was poor, like leftovers from the day-before. Overall I was happy to stay there. […] I visited friends staying at a four star hotel. They paid much more and their room had newer furniture but the setting and accoutrements were the same as in my room at the Clarion. That made me feel much better about the Clarion. Mehr

This hotel is so conveniently located! We stayed four nights and never had to move the car. We were able to easily walk to Oldtown, Midtown and even Sutter's Fort, and the Governors' Mansion Museum is directly across the street!!! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was scared from reading other reviews that it would be old and run down, but […] even though the hotel is old, everything was clean and looked as though its been recently renovated. Mehr

Great location...capitol only blocks away...nice area...lots of restaurants within walking distance...good price...only complaint was parking was a little tight....other than that a good spot to stay...

Close to many restaurants and Convention Center. Quiet and Comfortable.

I really liked the central location in downtown Sac but the breakfast is dreary and served entirely on paper and plastic with the attendant comfortably ensconced in a side room reading the morning paper...

Comfortable enough central city property suffering from an inadequate breakfast program.

The location of the hotel for downtown Sacremento was very convenient. Parking is provided, which is a plus. Can walk to the Capitol and main downtown area and the price was reasonable. Not higher end, like the Hyatt or Sheraton, but not as expensive either and overall quite good.

The Clarion is at a very convinient location in the middle of Downtown Sacramento. It was literally a couple min walking distance from the club that we went to. But the service is bad, we waited an hour for someone to come back to the front desk to check us in. There were these ants crawling all over the bathroom and shower. It was not pleasant. our room smellled like mildew and every time the AC running, it makes a rumbling noise. it is motel quality.
